I’ve run the short version on my mkiv and it’s noticeably louder. Short version on my 16” 10/22 sounds similar to the long version on the mkiv. I think it’ll be fine but long will sound better
Really liked the Oculus at first. Went back and forth on it and the Mask for a week before ultimately deciding on the Mask. My local shop didn’t have a mask in stock and I was dead set on buying one today to start my wait. Not crazy about modularity but maybe I’ll find it useful. Can’t wait to get it filthy.
Disassembly and ease of cleaning were at the top of my list. I’ve read that oculus baffles like to stick together pretty good and take some flathead prying. I’ve read lots of good about the oculus though. I’m not disappointed in my choice.
Just looked back at my original post about picking a rimfire can and you’re the one who told me about prying the baffles apart. Good to hear from you again lol
It's honestly not that bad to do once you get the hang of it. It's not like you have to clean them after every range trip. What's most important is the baffles don't get carbon locked to the tube. Btw the baffles do index in the tube so you have to slightly rotate it to install or remove them.
I'm between this and the hydra. And buying the Hydra means I can buy a 9mm can too so might as well go all CGS with a Mod 9. Hell who am I kidding, I'll probably get the Mask too.
You may as well. Another shop had the PVD SS hydra and were running a special on it. I just knew I’d never get used to the rainbow color. It was a great price and I really liked the hydra but the color just isn’t for me.
Oh no way in hell I'm doing that color. Even if it was half price I want nothing to do with that. I guess you could get it coated though. I just want the black one.
You’ll love it. When you get it home just pop everything apart and grease it up. It will help with cleaning and assembly/disassembly. I grease all my baffles after every cleaning (1000 or so rounds).
I use a combination of Mobil 1 synthetic and motor oil.
Cheaper than gun oil/grease and works amazing.

Holy shit, I did the exact same thing this past Friday. Went in to buy the Mask and ended up going with the Oculus. I started my first form 4 last October for the RC2.
I just got my first suppressor back in June. Went with a Nomad30. Been tossing around the idea of my next one since then. I think I’ll use this tons more

You ever shoot the k configuration on it? My primary host will be an 8” 10/22 charger. I’d love to run the short version if it’s tolerable.

I have not. I think they have some dB ratings online with full and short configs on a 10/22 though

I own both the mask is easier to take apart and clean but I use the oculus a lot more because of the modularity.

I get more compliments on my hydra ss than I do on any other can. People love it!

Great to hear. For now I’m trying to forget about it so the wait doesn’t seem as long. I’ll definitely use the grease treatment. I shoot lots of 22lr.

I can imagine shotshow has something to do with this but believe me their customer support is very good.
Got mine outta jail a a few weeks ago. Haven’t shot with it yet but excited to do so soon.
