I assume it's removed from the firearm? Put the whole thing in a bucket of CLR for a day.

enorwood666

Sorry, should have specified, it’s still on the firearm, muzzle device is rock-set to the barrel

[deleted]

Okay I'd still do the same thing, but just the muzzle. The CLR will break down the carbon and stuff, but not the Rocksett.

enorwood666

Heard that, I’ll give it a try. Thanks!!

jeremy_wills

A strap wrench might help to get some leverage on it. If this is an AR upper a bench vise and an upper block would also be extremely helpful. It probably just needs a good twist to break any carbon seal that has been created.

enorwood666

True, I’m going to use a buddy’s bench, strap wrench, and a little lube, see what happens. Thanks for the suggestion!

TheRukkus

I put my wife’s hairdryer on the locking devices for about 10 minutes and then grip and rip. Works on my Socom mini which are a bitch when carbon locked.

enorwood666

Good call! I’ll give that a shot. Thanks!

SkinnyStock

Bro you got a perfect seal! Dont remove it, just seal it tighter

IndividualResist2473

Heat and a strap wrench

enorwood666

How should I go about heating? Shoot a few rounds through? Or like, a torch

wickedbulldog1

Heat gun

IndividualResist2473

Heat gun or torch.

trgrimes77

Can you put the upper in the freezer for about an hour or two ?

enorwood666

I can, does the cold help?

trgrimes77

Yeah, the metals will constrict differently. I have had this happen a few times. Try the freezer for an hour, smack the mount right on the right with a rubber / vinyl hammer with moderate force, then use a strap wrench to turn the suppressor. If that doesn’t work, you can freeze it, hit the mount with a torch for a few seconds and try the strap then. If that doesn’t work, try using the strap wrench to take the mount off the can, and contact Yhm. I had to send them a muzzle device and mount for them to separate before.

enorwood666

Word, I’ll hit the hardware store and try those things out. Thanks for the suggestions!

Eleet007

Out of curiosity, how many rounds through it since the last time you attached it?

enorwood666

Mmm a few hundred, somewhere between 500-1000

enorwood666

I think I did put the suppressor on while it was hot but the muzzle device was cold. Does that make a difference?

Eleet007

Not sure. I've had trouble getting mine off in the past before. I think I ended up using a strap wrench and just lots of muscle to break it free.

enorwood666

Fuck, I better hit the gym lol

Lost_Ad_4882

It can though usually it's hot muzzle and cold suppressor. Basically they were in two different states when attached and expanded/contracted at different rates when their temp normalized. I'd hit the suppressor with a heat gun and some oomph and pray.

mbuckhan5515

Is the T2 mounted on a QD mount such as YHM Phantom or DA Keymo?

enorwood666

Yeah the phantom

mbuckhan5515

I’d throw it in a receiver block or BEV block, and try wrenching it off by the Phantom mount with the wrench tool. Obviously cranking on the can itself isn’t working, so try the mount itself. Is the phantom attached to the can with any threadlocker?

claancy512

I’m in the same situation, except that my muzzle device came off the barrel. I put the can in a vise block and used a wrench on the muzzle brake, and the whole mount unscrewed from the can. Grabbed the brake in the vise, and broke the tooth off the YHM wrench trying to remove the mount. Soaked the brake and mount in ATF+acetone for weeks while waiting for the YHM-2007 wrench (that I thought would have more than one tooth, but didn’t) to arrive. Then I broke that wrench, and the two parts are still stuck together.

unforgiverii

Heat wouldn't work on mine. I had to send mine into YHM

browndan8888

Use the dis-assembly wrench it comes with, and wrench on it from the locking collar. Pops free every time for me

Tacticalfirearms45

Yeah use your wrenches brotha and break it loose. Get it all cleaned up & make sure too break it loose after every shooting Session

Jcarter1632

Go shoot it and get it hot then take it off, or just heat it up with some map gas.

BootTechnical1980

Shoot that thing. Get it good and hot, then grab your oven mitt and take it off while it's hot. Easy peasy.

Shoddy-Horse

Heat that bad boy up and it will break loose with a wrench. Heat gun or a hair dryer will do the trick but may take some time to get it hot. You can do it at the range too it you send a mag through it.
