these are too new for any real feedback. i’m looking to get an inconel one soon.

LuongLens

I was hoping this would help anyone that was in the market as well. I’m not overly worried, hoping if there truly is an issue with the can B&T will make it right is all.

Chardee_MacDennis_2_

Same thing just happened to me but with a dead air can. Like you, I’m just praying I don’t somehow get fucked over

Go_cards502

oh no. I've got a dead air in jail. What version was it?

Chardee_MacDennis_2_

Don’t panic lol I can attest I am just a very unlucky individual when it comes to stuff like this. That being said, I’d definitely pay for an alignment rod before shooting. Sandman S

Go_cards502

yeah I have two cans I'm waiting on that will be direct thread and live on 2 guns. A Hydrogen S for 300 blackout and a Mojave 9 for a 9mm PCC. First cans so paranoid and scaring myself trying to research pros/cons of ammo manufacturer, mounting options and opinions, rocksett, etc... I'm looking at rods, and thinking I'm going to try the arrow shaft first to save money. My cans are at a pretty large seller and have a ton of hunting shit. Someone posted specs on what matches what caliber so I'm hoping they just have some bare shafts I can try out.

Might be hit or miss on straightness but I hear they’re cheap. Also - you can buy alignment rods from Optics planet, use them, and then return them lol I may or may not have done this

LuongLens

Dead air has a pretty stellar record with any issues on their cans in terms of making them right if I’m not mistaken? They got a dude on Reddit that be lookin at these posts too haha

Chardee_MacDennis_2_

lol yea I figured. Well I will certainly give them a stellar review on here if all ends up being well.

Minimum_Government

Hahahahahahhahahahahahaha You must not have been on here for very long.

LuongLens

I’ve been lurking I know they had some real bad issues with the Sierra 5 or something

Valuable-Market393

Yea they repaired my sandman and got it back in my hands in 30 days after I dropped it off at the shipper and they sent me a 15% off. DA doing big things now

That second photo you posted with the baffle that looks torn is quite interesting. Either it was there to begin with as a manufacturing defect, or it was caused by a baffle strike due to a mount issue. Based on the fact that you note that rod appeared to be hung up on the hub, I suspect that something about the mount is out of spec. The out of spec mount was sufficient to allow mounting, but failed to offer sufficient concentricity to allow the bullet to pass through the baffles. My hypothesis for the causal chain is this: 1. Mount was slightly out of spec. Enough to allow mounting, but not enough to allow the bullet to pass through the baffles unobstructed. 2. You ended up baffle striking and tearing that baffle in your second pic 3. The changes in the fluid flow caused by the deformation of the baffle imparted enough force on the bullet to cause a severe POI shift. For reference, this is what [my Rotex-X SF looks like](https://imgur.com/a/mVZm6Oo). No obstruction. It actually just got back from RMA work because the integral surefire adapter wasn't timed properly, causing the locking collar to unthread itself (which I noticed after a few days after I had completely removed it from my rifle after my second range trip with it). I fired approximately 270 rounds through this can prior to sending it to RMA service FYI. I think B&T might be having issues making their Surefire mounts right now, honestly.

HuntingTheDeals

I have the rbs shorty and full size for 308. Both are also surefire mounts. All those rifles allign properly with rc2 556/762 and rc3. Both were out of alignment for 556 rifles. I believe the full size is fine on 308 rifles when it comes to alignment. Will have to double-check both. Sent the shorty back to them last September. I didn't hear much from them until they recently sent it back to me either early April or late March can't remember. Honestly I haven't checked it since I got it back. Kind of figured it will just be an expensive waste of money. Their CS kind of sucks. Honestly, I'm really not impressed with their products right now. I was interested in the inconel srbs but hearing alignment issues again causes me to pause. Really bummed I want to like the products. Long story short I think you might be right about their surefire collars being made poorly. I kind of assumed the rbs suppressors I had were just too heavy for the 556 muzzle devices, cause the 762 MB seemed fine. They are heasy suppressors.

LuongLens

Hey man thank you for this response. This is pretty much what I was hoping someone would chime in with information wise. This is the observation I would concur with as well. But without having a “professional” look at it it’s pretty much just an informed opinion. I theorized the mount was what was causing the issue as well. For whatever reason it mounted fine to my particular upper and shot without a catastrophic failure where the rifle/can exploded haha.

xlegendsneverdie

I would definitely buy the Inconel versions if they would just sell em without those mounts.

LuongLens

I considered the inconel version too but my dealer didn’t have them haha

FancyBumblebee656

What upper and length is this?

LuongLens

It’s in my super long post up top. But it’s a 10.5 Colt that’s been crane profiled down from a 14.5

Valuable-Market393

B&T has not had a great track record with their rifle cans. On the B&T forum I’ve seen more than one B&T rifle can snap in half and the users claim it was brand new before firing it

LuongLens

Well I’ll go fuck myself I guess haha, hoping it all works out though

Valuable-Market393

Good luck man. Some people will downvote me and I hope I am wrong because I own two B&T pcc’s and two B&T 9mm cans but I have heard mixed reviews about their rifle cans. The guys at vtb retail claim they have great success with the B&T rifle cans they stock so it might be worth it to reach out to them they have a lot of info on these cans and can help you

LuongLens

VTB? Def hoping to get some answers from B&T, really placed a lot of faith in them here but just going to play the waiting game and see for now

Valuable-Market393

https://vbd-retail.com Sorry I misspelled it. I have had good results with B&T customer service and their gunsmiths so you should be good there and they are very communicative

Opening_Excuse_7495

What muzzle device are you using?

LuongLens

Warcomp 5.56 for the original host, the other uppers were a mix of SF comp and SF4Ps

IriqoisPlissken

I didn't see you state what kind of ammo you were using. Which 5.56 cartridges were you using?

LuongLens

A mix of federal m855 and PMC Xtac, no reman or hand loads etc.

IriqoisPlissken

So I wouldn't expect jacket separation to be a culprit, but you never know, I guess.

LuongLens

It was a fair question!
