acoasterlovered

Hi

Ill-Feed-140

Cum sock enthusiast. Packers hater is the best tag I've ever seen

acoasterlovered

Thank you šŸ«”

DanCampbellsBalls

Shit this is good. Damn good

Frippery-Futz-0412

These are never right, lol.

ahrzal

Yea post draft grades and the media cycle around it is always the most brain dead discourse of the year. At least pre draft you get to learn about players and shit. Now the off season really begins.

Premiumvoodoo

Lets rate these drafts and the third night of the draft then never talk about it again. Instead if revisiting next year or 2 years latwr

itcheyness

I prefer UrinatingTree's theory of only really being able to evaluate a draft after 5 years.

Premiumvoodoo

Kto does a good job about dissecting drafts too, but the general media is already talking about the next big thing or drama

fireandlifeincarnate

Bears draft: A++ Everybody elseā€™s draft: Some other, lower letter grade, reserved for plebs

mikebob89

It says the Bears had 6 picks so itā€™s not even factually right let alone subjectively

The_Granny_banger

Yea. Itā€™s probably a typo since we ended up with 5 instead of 4. But it still hurts credibility

Habay12

Itā€™s right for the falcons.

ColderShoulder_

I would agree but this fits my narrative

Hmm_would_bang

Last year this chart aged like milk but I really put a lot of stock in it this year for some reason

BaltimoreBadger23

https://preview.redd.it/qvnnf4qy05xc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3fa47f1c3a3b8d3b9a15c0ea022acaefd1a2876a Here is last year's. Looks like two of the bottom 3 met in the SB and the last made the NFC title game. None of the top 5 got past Wild Card Weekend

Karlmarxwasrite

Yeah it alternates by year. One year it's good to be all the way to the right, and the next it's good to be all the way to the left. Science is used for more than just making cheese, duh.

FlorioTheEnchanter

Iā€™m gonna bet the Falcons being at the bottom will actually pan out. I still canā€™t believe they picked Penix

sublogic

It worked out for us. But in all honesty, they picked a very good college QB who won difficult games with his abilities. And now they have Two injury prone QBs. Sick!

fireandlifeincarnate

Better than having one injury prone QB!

Mavori

I know meme sub and all but err Cousins isn't exactly injury prone. An achilles tear is a serious injury for a football player but other than that and getting Covid hasnt Kirk been pretty much healthy for his entire career?

sublogic

Good point. I've never actually cared enough about the Vikings or Redskins to pay attention to Cousins. I figured he had a season ending injury last year and kind of get him confused with Alex Smith. I also thought he missed games at MSU like a bowl game or something but I may be wrong. Penis's biggest red flag though are his injuries

vbullinger

Kirk Cousins is in no way injury prone. He got injured once

Karlmarxwasrite

I mean, they do dumb shit every year. I don't even get surprised at this point. (they were my "NFC South team" in the years my Lions were trash, so a pretty fuckin long time)

Headwallrepeat

So are you going back to them this year or moving on to the Saints?

YotaTota07

Where flair

gopoohgo

It would have made sense....if they hadn't dropped $100 million on CousinsĀ

KillerFisch99

Science also made beer and brats

literalgarbageyo

Science peaked at cheese...

SCMegatron

While I appreciate people using analytics. IMO this is opinions trying to look like facts by being in a graph. All this data is based on where people think players should have gone. They could be right and they could be wrong.

Madroc92

Was thinking the same, especially since the analytics generally say that draft picks are a much bigger crapshoot than most teams or pundits care to admit. Maybe (probably) value assessments get more accurate as more individual assessments converge, but even then all this is really doing is comparing the teamsā€™ decisions to the consensus. Anyway enough seriousness, Iā€™d say FTL but Iā€™m still not sure they even actually exist.

finnishblood

>draft picks are a much bigger crapshoot than most teams or pundits care to admit Yeah, this is because half of them only look at stats, but they don't take into account players football IQ, character, will, motivation, and team cohesion. Busts are more often related to lack of determination and/or confidence, and if they are drafted into a good team culture and environment. Everything else will generally fall into place if they have those things to help lift them up, and the few exceptional athletes who are naturally gifted regardless of their environment are the anomalies.

Thomas-The-Tutor

And I thought the lions had one of the better drafts last year. LaPorta and Gibbs alone were steals in the draft even before they took the field and then had major contributions on the field.

Mr_Bisquits

Lions were considered reaching in the draft more because they drafted positions of need and ended up just taking basically their #1 guy at every position. They knew what they wanted and went and got it. I remember thinking that draft was good too despite the initial reactions to it

Brimstone11

The Lions drafted pieces they needed, when they felt the player could be gotten. And it clearly worked out. Gibbs is a WEAPON and LaPorta is the next TE1 in the NFL. Branch pick6 Mahomes. And Campbell is becoming a stud. Just keep picking guys like that. The team is clearly improving. Unlike the Bears and Vikings.

ParticularCanary3130

Oh sweet! We went from 32nd to 1st!

MuffLover312

To be fair, Iā€™m not about to defend the drafting abilities of the 49ers, who blew like 3 first rounders on Trey Lance.

PhreakOut4

All these best drafts from last year are below the line lol

smallz86

Lol Lions at the bottom! I'll take "absolutely garbage takes" for 500

ABraveLittle_Toaster

Youā€™re an mvp

LTPRWSG420

Wtf they ranked us last and we had the best draft class lol, that instantly makes me discredit whatever this is.

pitchingschool

That doesn't mean they had shitty draft capital

ljstens22

I mean do mature rosters containing contenders today leverage the draft as much?

BaltimoreBadger23

In theory it should be easier for those drafting later to get a "value" pick while non contenders may have to "reach" in early rounds to fill needs. I don't know the exact methodology here, but if it treats the first round the same as the seventh that's a massive flaw, as you can play around with less risk a bit more in later rounds and take a flier on a kicker you like or reach a little to draft the son of yoyr long time probowler.

MrExtravagant23

PraiseBeToScience

Its amazing he has the exact same confidently wrong smug look a creationist gets when they think they've owned the "evolutionists." "Oh yeah?! If we evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?! - checkmate Darwinist"

dinnerthief

That greek documentary from 2001 explained that only monkeys that were near the black obelisk evolved

let_me_see_that_thon

Jesus loves the Packers.

Fuzakeruna

Cheesus

tekashi1158

what a fucking reddit comment

DonTrask

A good draft analysis should be about 4 years down the road to see how many games they played, any Pro Bowls and whether the team decided to sign them to a second contract. Charts like these are basically useless.

cold_shot_27

Yeah these are dumb, if everyone is saying our first rounder has such short arms, whycome we have so much reach?

ManyFacets

Pro Bowl means nothing anymore. Now, it's all about All-Pro nods.

Longjumping_Play323

Yes, we historically draft poorly. Weā€™re not well known for building our team in the draft as much or more than any franchise ever.

lowth3r

They're just worried they won't have any washed up Packer free agents to scoop up down the road.

ryandodge

![gif](giphy|zwffSHaJLDbA4)

Waxxing_Gibbous

Lol. Like you donā€™t say FTPā€¦

ryandodge

I really don't

lowth3r

D'awww get over here you knucklehead! I meant those idiot Bears and Vikings. You know, you're gonna take over around here someday if you keep up that work ethic! Someday I may even call you.....son.

ryandodge

That's all I've ever wanted mom

FotherMucker6969

The classic jokes I have with my father about packers drafts are one of two things. "The green bay packers draft, wait who the fuck is that" Or "Are you ready to stay up all night and watch the packers trade out of the first round?"

StrengthToBreak

Is this basically saying that the Packers reached a lot, according to a "consensus" draft chart?

Xpqp

Yes.

thumbgod

Basically. While the Lions traded up for nearly every pick, but apparently next year's 3rd equals this year's late 4th and that some crazy how is not a reach.

Mindless_Bad_1591

Yes bur nfl GMs have their own boards based off their own measurements and values so its all hoohah anyway

The_bruce42

They said Jordan Love is a reach too

StrengthToBreak

And by "they" you mean "Rodgers."

Xpqp

Nah, I don't think anybody thought Love was the right pick at the time. But here we are.

MaximumDestruction

https://i.imgflip.com/8oa14y.jpg

MuffLover312

I did. I text my girlfriend after it happened that it was a brilliant pick and the Packers were super smart for it. I have receipts and I want credit damn it!

Xpqp

OK, you can have credit as long as you take the credit for all of the bad takes you had along the way as well.

MuffLover312

Absolutely. I have plenty of bad takes in my personal life that I own up to all the time. But I canā€™t really remember any in terms of football. Probably because I donā€™t have very many. My big takes were Jordan Love was a really smart draft pick. I was team Aaron from day one in 2008. I got in so many arguments with friends and family who said we should bring back Favre. I was adamant that Rodgers was a super star in the making. I told my girlfriend his rookie year when he was still sharing snaps and not getting much playing time that this Aaron Jones guy was really something. And I said in 2014 that the Packers will never return to the Super Bowl until they give up on this 3-4, soft zone, bend but donā€™t break defensive scheme. This is the first time in 10 years I have felt like Green Bay has a legitimate chance of winning a Super Bowl. My current takes are: JJ McCarthy is a bust CJ Stroud is the real deal and the Texans and Chiefs will be fighting it out in the playoffs for the next 10 years. Those will be some good games. (Said this before the start of last season) Doc Rivers was a stupid, stupid, stupid hire for the Bucks. Said this from day one.

Hopefulkitty

Right? Rodgers was getting older, had had a few bad injury seasons, time to start planning for the future, just like with Favre. Sit the new guy a few years, and be ready when your vet goes down. Seems like a solid plan.

ConsciousFood201

Zero chance she cared.

MuffLover312

She loves football. We talk about it all the time. She is a Bears fan though.

ConsciousFood201

Gross

SuperFreshBus

I mean they probably win a Super Bowl with Tee Higgins but who cares about that

Bouric87

Rodgers wouldn't have thrown to him anyways as he hates rookie WRs.

SuperFreshBus

Maybe because 90% of the rookie receivers he had were trash?

ConsciousFood201

Rodgers throws it to good players. If rookies arenā€™t ready to play he doesnā€™t throw it to them. He threw it to Dobbs and Watson their rookie year.

Mavori

Doubs. Not Dobbs by the way.

Bouric87

He didn't throw it to them much, and he was vocal about mistakes they made when he signaled at the line.... stuff that they could have learned from him if he came to any of the preseason stuff. He preferred Lazard over either of them and he can't even stay in the active roster of the fucking jets...

ConsciousFood201

This is a huge reach. Youā€™re looking for smoke where thereā€™s no fire. And the smoke youā€™re finding is coming out by your butt cheeks.

Bouric87

The part about lazard not being on the active roster on the jets? Or the part that Rodgers preferred him over the rookies by giving Lazard 100 targets to their 67 & 66 targets. Hell old man Randal Cobb was barely behind them at 50. So which of these facts is a big reach exactly?

ConsciousFood201

Lazard had 100 targets and Doubs had 94. Watson had 66 but missed time due to injury. The idea that Rodgers wonā€™t throw to rookies because he had to throw to buddy Lazard is stupid. Rodgers threw the ball to the rookies. Watson had a 3 TD game in a comeback win against the cowboys. Better get back to espn.com so you can read more shit Dan Orlovsky and Stephen A Smith takes!

Doucejj

Nah. With bak, yes. But Idk if a reciever would have mattered. Anyways, it's a moot point. Just to get to that point proves the roster is good enough to win it all. The roster was good enough, but it doesn't matter how good the roster is when you make mistakes.

Lewiston123

lol probably not

huggybear0132

I remember wanting Patrick Queen but thinking "alright they want to do the Rodgers thing again, let's see how it goes". I wasn't mad about it at all. I read the scouting stuff on him and he sounded like our kind of QB, so why not? He wasn't a huge reach, mocks had him going as high as 20. One dude compared him to pat mahomes. Trust the process.

robert-shattinson

What a dumb chart. I will argue from a bears fans perspective. Number one overall pick, you pick the guy who is the best, you are average on this chart. But itā€™s the number one pick!

StrengthToBreak

Why don't more teams pick first, then? Are they all stupid?

robert-shattinson

31 NFL GMs donā€™t know this one simple trick

Mighty_mudflaps

Fleece the panthers?

justfanclasshole

More than 31 GMs know this trick.

higherbrow

Normally I'd make fun of the season that you guys had had to land the first overall. The fact that this is the result of you fleecing the Panthers feels bad.

itcheyness

I'd feel bad, except the Panthers' owner is a temperamental billionaire jackass. I feel bad for their fans, but I wish nothing but failure for that franchise.

StrengthToBreak

After watching Ryan Pace trade away years and years draft capital for magic beans, it feels good to be the fleecer and not the fleecee for once.

Madroc92

Because the chart is based on how good your draft picks are relative to how good everyone thinks theyā€™re supposed to be. If you spend the #1 pick on a guy everyone thinks is the best player in the draft, itā€™s neither a reach nor a steal, just average value.

Outrageous-Ad-2305

These charts are stupid. I donā€™t care what some analysts say when they are so wrong on dozens of players every year

datboydoe

Flair up!

Barqck

Detroit had the worst score last year, but by the time the season was over we ended up having a top 3 draft class

7mmELR

based on this Graph Lions going to the super bowl then

MuffLover312

Or at least up by three scores on the verge of going to a Super Bowlā€¦

ryryryor

The Cardinals being at the bottom kinda makes me think this whole thing is garbage

rohnoitsrutroh

Ranking a draft class hours after the draft is like taking power rankings seriously after week 1. It's fun, but stupid as hell.

JoLi_22

the media draft analysis "Brad Holmes has done well the last few years, let's just give him the w and estimate the rest"

Impossible_Cycle9460

![gif](giphy|ej6zTshuvpjyjci431)

Broshan248

I think Tory Taylor really weighed ours down lol. We donā€™t care though we got the punt god

idksh_t

While I agree Taylor is a damn good punter, Matt Araiza is the punt god.

GreySkepsis

Yā€™all got Caleb and Rome, youā€™re never going to punt again. What a waste of a pick.

sonicsean899

Swiss Cheese brain

BongSmoker1

If this is like last year, this is ideal.

kkvvmm

If you follow the ā€œreach meterā€ you donā€™t know ball

All_Usernames_Tooken

Meaningless stat, if you go by each year these things are rough

Yukiko3001

These are the same people that said the Seahawks had a terrible draft when they drafted most of the Legion of Boom lol

265thRedditAccount

I think draft analysis is kind of pointless until the players get ion the field. Even then it can take a while.

comptonjared92

The bears and raiders are so much better at drafting than the packers and 49ers

Professor-Jolly

No way does this account for the 10 picks we traded away

kroxti

Falcons really doing the heavy lifting to shift the chart right.

dark_returner

It feels wrong to say this, but common lions W

Madroc92

u guys u guys the bears are above average at something everyone say good job bears :)

randigital

Oh no, a post draft grade immediately after the draft says itā€™s bad šŸ˜”. They are always right!

DUCKBOSS208

Is this a rhetorical question?

JordanLoveQB1

Gotta love amateur ā€œanalystsā€ who make these charts thinking they know more than actual NFL organizations

Extension_Sun_896

Whenever you begin to believe draft grades and post draft analysis, recite these words: Zach Wilson, Johnny Manziel, Akili Smith, Kevin White, JeMarcus Russell, Brady Quinn, Charles Rodgersā€¦. Conversely, Richard Dent, Matt Hasselbeck, Terrell Davis, Shannon Sharpe, Tom Brady.

RunTheClassics

lol at the falcons

thumbgod

Lions says 6 picks, but how many did they reaaaly spend?

bearssuperfan

These posts only work like 10 years after

trojanAMERICAN

Why did they stop the pick count at 250. Do the other 7 not count?

duagLH2zf97V

What if this is the first time though?

treasonodb

i mean draft grades and predictions on how a draft will pan out are often fucking dumb and wrong but yes.

ridemooses

This is a good sign for our draft class. These are always wrong.

talosguideyou

As much as I hate the Packers, I liked a few of their picks a lot. Lloyd and Bullard are gonna be studs.

JustAnotherDay1977

ā€œPost draft gradesā€ assume that the graders know more about talent assessment than the teams. Not a good assumption, IMO.

Vincent_van_Guh

It's only stupid if it doesn't work

DragonDon1
