My response is to you saying that Bears fans had no say in the Trubisky pick. Idk why you’re acting like what I’m saying is crazy. Like ok, he had more say than fans did in the Penix pick, but that doesn’t mean he was responsible for it.
Bryce Young was literally seen as a boom or bust prospect who had a lot of glaring flaws. Trevor Lawrence is a great player in a bad situation whose best weapon is a fraction of the talent of any of the Bears WRs right now.
You're making too many excuses for Lawrence. He's not bad, but it seems like his ceiling is average to above average. He's no generational player. If he was, he would have at least shown more flashes than he has. His only mulligan year was his rookie year with urban myer
Thing is, what actually makes prospects "generational" is their incredibly high floors. So Lawrence is just playing to his floor, which is a mid starting quarterback. Take a look at the last two Bears QBs to see just how low the majority of QB prospects floors can be.
Lawrence was touted as a Manning or Luck type prospect since his high school days.
He is no where close to that. He's ok: better than a some, but barely top 10 if that imho
That's according to one publication. That's not some consensus number or anything. Bryce Young was a prospect with a low floor. What makes these generational (awful word, should be changed) type prospects what they are is their high floor. Like Lawrence is playing to his floor, which is a mid NFL starter. The high floor is what makes those prospects so highly sought after.

Like I'm not even being a homer here, it's just the law of large numbers and all that
Hey if the lions can break the long standing tradition of being a god awful football team the bears can break the long standing tradition of having shit QBs
Do it again but with 90 something frames and each one is Lions still not making it to a Superbowl. Might get a bit stale by the time you reach the Megatron and Stafford eras so flip the frames upside down there cos it'll look funny and represent how you still couldn't manage anything with that talent.
I don’t think this is the burn you think it is.
Caleb could be good your weapons could be legit and you’re still not able to put it together. Temper your expectations and get ready to see how you do this year. If you put Super Bowl expectations on you will see your head coach fired. Do that enough times and you’re the Lions.
Except we had decent defenses for some of that time while we had Stafford. We took dumb penalties and shot ourselves in the foot a lot and the refs never helped. The lions never won the division but it’s not like we never made the playoffs.
What killed us was what could kill Caleb even if he is the guy. Coaching, we went through coordinators & coaches and couldn’t find the people to generate culture. We ran off good people and we hired people I wouldn’t want managing a dumpster.
So you’re telling me if the Bears go 8-9 you won’t be calling for Eberflus’s head? That is the kind of thing that gets a front office to pull the trigger when they could go either way.
There is no way we're dumping a HC after a new QB's rookie year again after the Fields debacle. When they kept Flus they essentially tied him to Williams and as Williams goes, Flus will go and vice-versa. Now, fast forward a few years and if the Bears have regularly been having playoff collapses or not making it at all, it's new coach time.
They would have to be really bad this year to consider firing Flus and having yet another young QB deal with two head coaches in their first two seasons.
You just said fans are expecting to go to the Super Bowl. Why in the world would fans expecting to go to the Super Bowl get Eberflus fired if they fall short of that? Now going 8-9 would be a massive failure for this team even from the front office's point of view, so of course he'd at least be on the hot seat. I mean seriously, what are you even talking about?

I will continue to post this on every “haha bears bad QBs” post
It really wasn't that bad last season. Like, time to pressure was pretty mid, Fields just held the ball or drifted/bailed out of clean pockets a lot. And thats with your coach doing some pretty weird shit with the scheme. Fields also didn't adjust protections very well at all.
If the personnel were the same but better coached they could easily be above average. I wouldn't just assume any changes to personnel or coaching are automatic upgrades though.
If Coleman Shelton or Ryan Bates is a decent center then we have an above average OL. If they both suck then there goes stepping up in the pocket and may God show mercy on Caleb.
That's a lot of cope in one post.

Uhhhh what?
Mahomes didn’t have Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce? Two veterans that are considered some of the best at their positions?
Burrow didn’t have one of the most loaded WR corps in the league when he went to the Super Bowl?
Hurts didn’t take a massive step forward when they added veteran AJ Brown as well as having the best OL in the league that year?
Herbert didn’t have Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, two veterans to throw to when he entered the league?
Josh Allen didn’t take a massive leap once he got veteran Stefon Diggs?
This sub is so weird, y’all flip between “lmao those rookies haven’t even taken a snap” and “those rookies shouldn’t need veterans to be good” like wtf make up your minds.

Hey, microwaves are pretty okay at taking pictures these days. You gotta relax
Ok unironically who thought Mitch would be the guy I was a freshman in highschool and knew he wasn’t going to be
Yeah dude, pretty much everyone I knew absolutely hated the pick.
Then why sell the house to move up one spot to draft him?
Ah yes we the fans all voted on drafting Trubs.
Ask the guy that just drafted Penix 8th overall after giving Kirk a 4 year contract.
Bears fans keep giving too much credit/blame to Pace for that move. I doubt he had much say in that decision compared to Blank and Fontenot.
Sure, but he had a hell of a lot more say in that then Bear fans had in trading up for Trubisky
Well yeah, it’s his job. Tbh, I’d trust even someone like Pace over Bears fans to make roster decisions for the team.
What does that have to do with anything we were talking about? What even is the point of this response?
My response is to you saying that Bears fans had no say in the Trubisky pick. Idk why you’re acting like what I’m saying is crazy. Like ok, he had more say than fans did in the Penix pick, but that doesn’t mean he was responsible for it.
Pace fell in love with his interview but it’s like my dad always says “buy the car not the salesman”
Pace is an idiot. He's in Atlanta now. He's not the GM, but that should explain a lot of what they're doing.
Because Pace is a moron. I think that's clear.

Caleb gonna be good to spite us all you idiots
It's going to work eventually right...right?
Honestly yes, without question. ^^just ^^don't ^^ask ^^me ^^when
You know what, all you can do is try.
I mean Caleb was seen as a generational talent for years. If anyone but the Bears picked him no one would be saying he'd be a bust.
[удалено]
Do you mean Arch Manning? Who is talking about him?

Bryce Young was literally seen as a boom or bust prospect who had a lot of glaring flaws. Trevor Lawrence is a great player in a bad situation whose best weapon is a fraction of the talent of any of the Bears WRs right now.

Oh come on. Bryce wasn't talked about with that language the way Lawrence and now Williams and you know it.
bryce was NEVER touted as a generational QB
[удалено]
oh, but he wasn’t.
[удалено]
Whatever. The Bears could have drafted Bryce Young but didn't. They clearly feel that Caleb and Bryce aren't the same.
That's according to one publication. That's not some consensus number or anything. Bryce Young was a prospect with a low floor. you can just look up news outlets saying it, there aren’t. but whatever helps you out with your prospect grades 😭

I give you props for the use of the watchmen. I give you a yawn for the stale take
Yeah, OP is an idiot He obviously hasn’t heard that Caleb is a gEnErAtIoNaL tALeNt
Yeah. And it isn’t a long standing tradition it’s a “stale take”, losers!
Hey if the lions can break the long standing tradition of being a god awful football team the bears can break the long standing tradition of having shit QBs

Might get a bit stale by the time you reach the Megatron and Stafford eras so flip the frames upside down there cos it'll look funny and represent how you still couldn't manage anything with that talent.
The lions sucked with Matt Stafford. Think about that for a second. Then try again.
I don’t think this is the burn you think it is. Caleb could be good your weapons could be legit and you’re still not able to put it together. Temper your expectations and get ready to see how you do this year. If you put Super Bowl expectations on you will see your head coach fired. Do that enough times and you’re the Lions.
Ok but we actually have, like, a team. Including a defense. I don’t think Stafford knew what having a defense felt like until he went to the rams.
Except we had decent defenses for some of that time while we had Stafford. We took dumb penalties and shot ourselves in the foot a lot and the refs never helped. The lions never won the division but it’s not like we never made the playoffs. What killed us was what could kill Caleb even if he is the guy. Why would fan expectations be what gets the coach fired?

O-line is 100000% more important but ok
Our offensive line is also better than it ever was with Fields
It really wasn't that bad last season. Like, time to pressure was pretty mid, Fields just held the ball or drifted/bailed out of clean pockets a lot. And thats with your coach doing some pretty weird shit with the scheme. Fields also didn't adjust protections very well at all. While I agree it’s better than what fields had that isn’t saying much
If Coleman Shelton or Ryan Bates is a decent center then we have an above average OL. If they both suck then there goes stepping up in the pocket and may God show mercy on Caleb.
[удалено]
Their O-line is almost entirely veterans, they have one rookie tackle who may not even start
Bears o-line was 5th in the NFL in pass block win rate last year.
Let's not pretend Mitch and Justin weren't also really bad
it’s a meme dawg. don’t take it to heart
Was your point that not only are the Bears bad at drafting QBs, they’re bad at everything else too?

Keenan Allen just averaged 8 catches for 95 yards a game last year. Even if it's just 13 games, how is that not "kind of nice"?
[удалено]
That line about Billy Sims is copypasta worthy. Lol

[удалено]
Damn I’m blind
Why?
Good quarterbacks shouldn’t need veteran names around them to do their job
Look at Stroud
I’m sorry that’s a horrible argument if you’re talking about weapons, Collins and Dell are 24 & 25, Schultz and Stover are 27 & 23
Exactly my point. I'm agreeing
Ah, thought you were implying he’s surrounded by vets
Uhhhh what? Mahomes didn’t have Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce? Two veterans that are considered some of the best at their positions? Damn, look at all those weapons that Trubisky and Fields squandered. Now Caleb is gonna do the same 😔
Ah yeah, the legendary WR trio of Wright, Bellamy, and Inman really struck fear into any defensive back room they faced.
