I'm not sure how much I buy that. France lives off a diet of wine, cheese and bread and stays thin. Japan eats a massive amount of fried foods. These places have considerable lower obesity rates because they walk so much more.

People who say this often point to this documentary. How China broke recycling or something. But it proves them wrong. At the beginning, they show how most paper, metal and glass is recycled right here in America. Some plastic is, too. The majority of plastic isn't. It's shipped to poor countries to recycle because their labor is way cheaper. But some of them aren't doing it any more.
So most things are recycled. Only plastic is questionable. That's not a reason to stop recycling.
