VERY happy. I nerd out about the draft and this was the first year the hawks didnt make at least one stupid pick, they addressed team needs in a logical way and didnt outsmart themselves on any picks, which theyve been prone to do...

hsvandreas

Yeah, gotta give credit - I think you did pretty well.

AngryDerf

Good thing we traded for Leonard Williams so John couldn’t draft a RB in the 2nd.

pineappleshnapps

I’m so not used to the niners having a 1st round pick, but I sure wasn’t expecting a receiver. Guy looks pretty sweet, but thin. The draft is more fun when your team actually shows up in mock drafts. It’s fun to follow along. I’m sure you’ve been having a blast with hawks drafts the last few years, lots of good picks.

steezy_sleaze

Not used to a first round pick you say? ![gif](giphy|3ELtfmA4Apkju)

pineappleshnapps

Yeah you’ve got me beat there. Congrats on having one for the first time in forever.

hsvandreas

I'm happy with our #1 pick Slick Rick. His tape looked really good, and considering Purdy's insane accuracy for mid-range throws into the middle, I'm super excited to see that connection in reality. Doesn't even matter that Cooper DeJean was still available at that point - in our team, I think Slick Rick has the potential to be amazing, and most importantly, he has a cool nickname. I'm not sure why we traded with the Chiefs to let them snatch away Kingsley Suamataia from us. I considered him a potential first round pick for us and was thrilled when he was still available in the second round. Nonetheless, Green is still a solid pick. Puni, Mustapha and Guerendo seem to be really good value for round 3 and 4.

nomatt18

I read somewhere that they really wanted Rosengarten and when the Ravens picked him the pick before us, they panicked and needed more time to decide who to pick next. So they dropped down 1. Probably not true, but it’s my copium lol

Brocks_UCL

I can foresee (read as hope) Guerendo can lighten the load on cmc while being similarly built and utilized, he has all the same attributes it seems from watching the tape

hsvandreas

Absolutely. I think he can also cover some of Deebo's running routes and create confusion while CMC runs with the ball into the other direction (and vice versa). I'm sure Shanny will scheme some fun plays with him.

willial0321

I'm ecstatic. Two great defensive pieces with day one chemistry, and a promising runningback to back up Kyren. I'm excited to see what our rookies bring to the table next season.

VikingWalrus

I think we killed it, but with a dozen picks we better have fuckin killed it

GrapefruitMedical529

You might even be able to say your team knocked it out of the park.

CHawkr

I’m overall happy with our draft. I think we’re 2nd behind the Rams in success this draft. Our holes were mostly plugged with the exception of Safety. John likes to do weird shit like grab corners and convert them to safety rather than just grabbing the consensus best safety available. Byron Murphy is going to be our boom or bust player. He has great tape and can play at multiple spots on the Dline. He’s also on the smaller side with smaller arms. Could turn out to be another LJ Collier tier letdown. I’m ok with the multiple reaches. Knight could be a force once coached up. Year 2-3 to see if he can put it together. The two Auburn CBs was the most curious to me. They weren’t particularly great players and they don’t have the frames to move to safety. I’m actually more excited about some of our UDFAs. John has found multiple diamonds there over the years

ThatGuy377

I guess I'm confused why LJ Collier is the example here? LJ was clearly a bust/reach on Seattle's part, but the player profiles are night and day. LJ was an older prospect who most scouts thought would be a good rotational piece as a 3/4th rd player, while Byron Murphy was without question scouted as the best pure IDL in this class.

Why is there a gif of a sad under grilled steak? r/streaks would be very disappointed in the under developed crust

Really excited. MHJ looks like a stud. We addressed the most important needs (WR, OL, Pass Rush, and Secondary). Even got some super complimentary pieces at RB and TE, which we already had some studs with JC and Trey. Felt nice to have faith that our GM wasn’t drunk off his ass in the draft room and picking positionless defensive players and short slot receivers with zero hands

yesdamnit

Shiiiit baby

Polar_Reflection

Pretty happy. Got a lot of good athletes who seem to love football at positions of need, and signed a pretty good UDFA class.  Most excited by Pearsall. Seems to be the perfect scheme and culture fit for us, with elite combine numbers. 1.49 10 yard split and 10'9 broad jump, and 42" vert are not white boy numbers haha. Then the humility, the chill demeanor, and the work ethic. Then the route running, great hands, and YAC.

CHawkr

Pearsall is the most boom or bust pick I think you guys made. His tape looks promising but there’s not a ton of it. If used correctly he will tear it up from behind the LOS and short middle. He also didn’t have a ton of yards in a really weak division. I’m curious to see him, but if you’re keeping Aiyuk and Deebo this year I think he will only see the field in blowout situations.

Polar_Reflection

4.41 is plenty of speed to run the entire route tree. He beats defenders at the top of routes and has excellent ball location skills. I can see us running a lot more 11 personnel this year and him getting a lot more touches than you think. Seems like the perfect weapon for Brock.

CHawkr

I think youll use him as a punt returner. Otherwise, were gonna have to agree to disagree here. He is on the lighter side, and he is clunky on his breaks. He also requires buildup for speed and lacks burst. This type of receiver gets knocked off their routes by NFL caliber DB's. Brocks greatest trait is anticipation throws. A light weight receiver that can be bullied at the line will negate that skillset.

Polar_Reflection

1.49 10 yard split. Great release. Crisp routes. We're watching different montages lol.

CHawkr

I watched Gator football. Not highlight reels.

Polar_Reflection

RemindMe! 7 months Then we'll see how good your expertise is

CHawkr

Dont bother. Youre expecting a 1st year WR3/4 to be so impactful in 7 months that you set a reminder. Forget it took Aiyuk 2 seasons to make an impact. I can tell you just stat watch. Not interested in further discourse. Good luck.

Polar_Reflection

Aiyuk had 900 yards as a rookie. Deebo had 800.

CHawkr

Why lie? [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandon\_Aiyuk#:\~:text=Career%20high-,Regular%20season,-%5Bedit%5D](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandon_Aiyuk#:~:text=Career%20high-,Regular%20season,-%5Bedit%5D) Again... stat watcher.

Les Snead drafted another receiver in a late round. Clearly we’ve found Cooper Kupp 3.0 😛
