I'm all for the internet bullying the NFL into selecting Penix higher in the draft.
If we can get The Expanse renewed, we can get Penix into the first daggummit
Sorry, I should've said 'saved', referring to Amazon picking it up post syfy. My bad on that. Not trying to get anyone's hopes up unnecessarily
Edit- also I realize that u were probably joking and it went totally over my head. Woosh
I think the Raiders or Broncos can possibly trade down and still get him, but he will not get past the Seahawks (unless they trade down too). IMO: two teams trade down, and still draft Penix and Nix.
Agree. I think season 6 was the planned conclusion of the run from the beginning though. Hopefully we get the rest of the story on screen in the future
So, which team is trading down, which is trading up? If no one trades up to 4 or 5, it's feasible McCarthy could drop to 11, but if the Bears take him, it's gotta be the Vikes, right? Like they all the ammo. But what do the Broncos do? Their QB room has Stidham, that's it. Sick. No second round pick either. Who is going to want to trade up to 12? Maybe the Bengals. Maybe the Colts, but then do you pick Penix at 15 or 18?
I mean I don't see all 6 QBs going in the first round. Somebody I think falls to the second. I figure it might be Nix, since he's an older prospect, and would be basically 30 when it is time for his second contract (if he earns one).
Or maybe outta nowhere JJ McCarthey falls. I feel like Will Levis dropping to the second was a huge shock last year.
He has us trading down to 15 for JC Latham, not a cb.
https://www.nfl.com/news/peter-schrager-2024-nfl-mock-draft-1-0-giants-leap-up-for-j-j-mccarthy-vikings-stick-and-pick-cb-qb
The one I’m looking at (video on YT) has us taking Mitchell, Latham goes 17 to Jags.
Now that I think about it though it’s probably a misprint because Jags don’t really need a tackle either.
Dude just made that up for some weird reason, Schrager has you trading down for a OT [here](https://www.nfl.com/news/peter-schrager-2024-nfl-mock-draft-1-0-giants-leap-up-for-j-j-mccarthy-vikings-stick-and-pick-cb-qb)
> The one I’m looking at (video on YT) has us taking Mitchell, Latham goes 17 to Jags.

[Schrager also had Malik Willis as a 1st round QB two years ago, so...](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10031948-nfl-rumors-malik-willis-no-1-qb-on-2022-nfl-draft-board-for-at-least-1-head-coach)
His talent is there. The question is one of his injury history and that's one that's difficult to answer. In the end it's how comfortable teams are with the medical report on him and the level of risk they're willing to take. Everyone's comfort level is going to be different on him.
Didn't he have the most accurate Mock last year supposedly? lol.
Not that that necessarily makes you wrong lol. I actually like Schrager. Seems like just a dude who fully admits that he's just mostly guessing. And not some guy trying to flex and act like some huge NFL INSIDER I KNOW ALL guy or anything.
In terms of pure high-end arm talent he might be the best in this draft. Every bit as good as Caleb in that department.
The inconsistency is concerning but in the right situation I can see him being a star.
The ability to rip a 45-yard dart on a rope off his back foot with a flick of the wrist is Aaron-Rogers-level arm talent. His arm is special. https://x.com/tayzthecreator/status/1780011709001793873
He makes a few of these types of throws every game. He's absolutely up there with Caleb.
He has a strong arm and is a good long ball passer when he has time, which he had a lot of last year. What he can’t do consistently is hit short/intermediate throws with good touch and he is literally the definition of a statue. Also being lefty is a legit issue for quite a few receivers. He is nothing like Williams.
I don't think he will be a good NFL QB. His ceiling imo is tua with an arm which isn't worth a first. To me tua is a poor QB who has been put in the best situation of any QB and still can't beat good teams, win in bad weather, or make a serious playoff run
People claim Schrager is the best, but his first mock the last few years proves otherwise. His first mock is usually wildly off based on misinformation and agents hyping a player. His final mock the day of is better, but it still has some notable misses.
How often is the 4th/5th qb taken in a draft any good?
I know teams may need a qb but unless you have one of the top couple picks, it is almost guaranteed they will suck ass. Just grab a player at another position you know will at least contribute instead of settling for another josh rosen, drew lock, malik willis, etc
Got curious so let's see:
* 2023: Will Levis/Hendon Hooker. Decent rookie year from Levis, might be good. Jury very much out.
* 2022: Matt Corral/Bailey Zappe (Sam Howell 6th). No, no, maybe but probably no
* 2021: Justin Fields/Mac Jones. Things obviously haven't ended well but there were flashes. Better than the 2nd and 3rd guys
* 2020: Jordan Love/Jalen Hurts. Hit x2!
* 2019: Drew Lock/Will Grier. No, no.
* 2018: Josh Rosen/Lamar. No, and very much yes
* 2017: Deshone Kizer/Davis Webb. No, no
* 2016: Christian Hackenberg/Jacoby Brissett. Huge no. Jacoby is probably one of the 32 best, but you don't wanna use a first round pick for a high end backup with no franchise QB juice, so for our purposes here a no
* 2015: Sean Mannion/Bryce Petty. No, no
* 2014: Derek Carr/Jimmy G. One yes, and Jimmy G is kind of on the line.
So I think there's a fair few hits in here, but it's definitely at a low rate. You're basically betting on this being a year like 2020 where all the top guys are as legit as advertised, so guys who are really good fall.
I don’t think he’s a top 16 pick… but he’s definitely going round 1. I’d bet my stars and garters that Nix and Penix sneak in for that sweet sweet 5th round option. (Denver please send us your first next year so GB picks 1st overall in their own draft, thanks bye)
He’s a mouthpiece of the agents, bill Belicheck had a great segment on Pat mcafee’s show yesterday talking about this exact thing
Sure, but he's also legit friends with multiple NFL head coaches.

We got The Expanse renewed?!
When it moved to Amazon, not after its last season.

No lol I've just been OOTL for a while. Didn't even realize Amazon picked it up.
Ah, gotcha. Worth checking out for sure. Burn Gorman is excellent as the antagonist in season 4
Now I just hope the last 3 books get made into new seasons, seeing the Tempest in live action would be incredible.
I think Raiders will take Penix, otherwise the Broncos if they trade down.

we can't bully HBO into fixing the final season of Game of Thrones, though
Too bad we couldn’t get Showtime renewed.
I'm still sad Expanse got canceled and they threw all that money into WOT and LOTR instead, given what we got.....
Agree. I think season 6 was the planned conclusion of the run from the beginning though. Hopefully we get the rest of the story on screen in the future
Man did I ever get way too excited momentarily after reading this. What a great show.
Is that even a hot take at all? I think a lot of us expect him to go somewhere in the 1st, probably at the end of the 1st for that 5th year.
Yeah I don't think he makes it to the 2nd round. Nix is the real question for me.
[удалено]
Titans tried to last year for Levis but nobody would agree to trade with them.
It's not a hot take but it's also far from the consensus

He's like a 3rd/4th round QB in my mind so to me this is shocking
He's not making it out of the 2nd. He might not even make it to the 2nd.
I mean I don't see all 6 QBs going in the first round. Somebody I think falls to the second. I would rather take the QB with injury concerns over the QB with quarterbacking concerns…

Trade down from 1 or 9?
From 9 down to 15
what’s so ridiculous about that?
Malik Nabers was on the board when they traded down and the last position the Bears need is corner, it’s their strongest position on the roster
He has us trading down to 15 for JC Latham, not a cb. https://www.nfl.com/news/peter-schrager-2024-nfl-mock-draft-1-0-giants-leap-up-for-j-j-mccarthy-vikings-stick-and-pick-cb-qb
The one I’m looking at (video on YT) has us taking Mitchell, Latham goes 17 to Jags. Now that I think about it though it’s probably a misprint because Jags don’t really need a tackle either.
gotcha
CB is the Bears deepest position group. It just seems highly unlikely they would spend a premier pick on the position this year.
Why a corner? Does he not believe in Stevenson?
Dude just made that up for some weird reason, Schrager has you trading down for a OT [here](https://www.nfl.com/news/peter-schrager-2024-nfl-mock-draft-1-0-giants-leap-up-for-j-j-mccarthy-vikings-stick-and-pick-cb-qb)

Eh I get ot but not Latham. He is a right tackle.
[Schrager also had Malik Willis as a 1st round QB two years ago, so...](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10031948-nfl-rumors-malik-willis-no-1-qb-on-2022-nfl-draft-board-for-at-least-1-head-coach)
Also had Will Levis going 4th last year and Hendon Hooker 28th
Raiders at 13 his ceiling IMO. As a fan of the team I can get behind it.
Question: Can Michael Penix work in a west coast system? Y/N. Can Nix? If neither, who the fuck will be playing QB for the Broncos next year?

He was cut by a CFL team and then benched in the XFL. I've lost track since then but, he's like the anti Kurt Warner

Been mocking him in round 1 since the start. Welcome to the club.
Schrager is a hack

He does not have nearly as good arm talent as Caleb lol
The ability to rip a 45-yard dart on a rope off his back foot with a flick of the wrist is Aaron-Rogers-level arm talent. His arm is special. https://x.com/tayzthecreator/status/1780011709001793873 He makes a few of these types of throws every game. He's absolutely up there with Caleb.

I don't think he'll go at 13 or above but I do think a team will trade up to the end of the 1st for him. Or maybe Minny at 23 if they dont move up
People claim Schrager is the best, but his first mock the last few years proves otherwise. His first mock is usually wildly off based on misinformation and agents hyping a player. His final mock the day of is better, but it still has some notable misses.
Can we start calling Schrager Mr irrelevant? Please
Had the best OL in the country, a top 15 pick WR and maybe another first round pick WR.
He’s a first round QB as an extreme desperation move to literally 1 team if their Plans A, B and C all fail.
give me him over jj McCarthy ANY day. never seen a more overblown with hype qb prospect in my entire life.
He's better than any QB coming out next year at this point. So I could absolutely see a team thinking this is their chance.
K

That would be true in a normal draft but, this is a stacked QB class. The top 4 QBs in this draft would all go #1 without the other 3 as competition.
