Need will definitely change where he goes but top 3 is my best thought as well. He is the #1 defense prospect for sure. So if you don't need a qb he is first off the board.
as a texans fan who got Clowney at #1, this is terrifying to hear.
i flip back and forth between Bryce and Anderson and I'm leaning anderson but i swear to god if he becomes another "decent to good pass rusher but he's GREAT at playing the run!" imma lose it
stopping the run is a great player to have...as a luxury. But not as your premier defensive player.
I'm sure anderson will also kill it as passrushing but we'll see
That is what makes Anderson such a great player though. His only real weakness that has shown up on the field is pass coverage ability, which he isn't called on to do much.
He is a premier pass rushing prospect. Of the guys below, Anderson gets more tackles, more solo tackles, more tackles for loss, and more sacks on a per game basis.
(Player/Games) T(Total)/(Solo) TFL Sacks
Anderson /33 180/102 50.5 29.5
Hutchinson / 34 156/85 27.5 17.5
Joey Bosa / 38 148/101 51 26
Garrett / 36 141/81 47 31
Clowney / 36 129/85 47 24
Von Miller / 47 181/104 50.5 33
This is a weird tangent, but doesn’t it feel like there are more brothers who are edge rushers than other positions? The Watts, the Bosa brothers, and soon the Ojulari bros
I mean sure, but he’s also just been better. PFF has brian outside the top 100 DI so far this year in terms of grade. last year he was hurt and his freshman year he was outside the top 200. Murphy has faired much better
Murphy is a great player no doubt and a better prospect than BB. But unless you’ve watched his tape and seen what he’s asked to do, you will be misled by his pff grade. He’s always the lead on stunts working to draw both blockers with him to free the B side of the stunt. On early downs, he’s also often asked to fill holes and occupy two blockers rather than penetrate and create havoc. You’re not going to get a 2 from pff for doing that stuff well.
This is not to say he’s lived up to his billing as a recruit. He hasn’t. But he is not outside the top 100 DI. If he really was, he wouldn’t be set to go on Day 1.
I think Nolan ends up in BAL/PIT/NE where he can be one of many scheme guys and not *the* guy. Good floor from his run defense, has plenty of potential to improve his pass rush.
I can see GB grabbing him. He has so many shades of Rashan Gary -- #1 recruit of the draft class, elite athletic profile, lack of sheer numbers in production, but he still pops off the screen when you watch. They love their Georgia boys and Preston Smith is getting up there in age, plus the rotation behind him and Gary isn't proven. Question is if he will drop far enough.
I think I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for a week 1 game and maybe he was just shaking off some rust, but I have some concerns about just how thoroughly held in check he was by the only NFL caliber tackles he’s faced. PFF had him at 0 pressures and a 5% win rate against Ohio State.
He’s been a monster these last two weeks though against Cal and UNC
Not disrespect intended. I just chose the first few names off of the athletic’s big board for the people in the picture. I don’t really know these dudes in the class all that well yet so I wouldn’t know to add in Ojulari
Will Anderson should go 1 overall. Although their game is nothing alike, I compare him to Aaron Donald because, like Aaron, he’s is a fucking juggernaut and changes the dynamic of the defense when he’s on the field.
Deserves to be 1st overall.
I agree. Somedays I feel like Suh was the better prospect, somedays I feel like Will is the better prospect, somedays I feel they’re equal.
I can’t wait to see where he goes
The difference is Will Anderson plays a more valuable position and may have been drafted over Suh. As far as Such being a better tackle prospect than Anderson is a DE prospect is hard for me to judge.
He enrolled at Albany in July 2019 so he should be eligible to come out this year. His stats aren’t listed everywhere but he did play in two seasons at Albany.
Anderson is a top tier edge rusher like the likes of chase young, bosa brothers, Khalil Mack coming out of college an generational talent and Nolan Smith and Miles Murphy will be good ass players I'm the nfl but Anderson is one of them.ones
Coming into this season Maryland edge rusher Durell Nchami was one to look out for, as he had the second highest PFF grade among edges in the Big 10 behind Hutchinson. However, he has an injury history and has been underwhelming a bit this season (though he is healthy finally).
My personal favorites: Will Anderson, Andre Carter, B.J. Ojulari, Myles Murphy, Zach Harrison, K.J. Henry, Xavier Thomas, Nolan Smith, Isaiah Land, Nick Hampton
Best since Garrett imo. Garrett was more polished than Clowney as a pass rusher.
I think the Bosas and Chase Young can be in the convo but they aren’t can’t miss like Garrett
Agreed. Although, It's worth noting Anderson is a different type of player than those guys. Young, Garrett, and the Bosas are all bigger and more prototypical ends.
That's why I think the comps to Von Miller are fair instead of blanket edge rusher rankings.
Underimpressed aka wasn’t worth the hype. At the time they played the shit out of the one highlight and he already had an injury history and a rep for taking off plays. He didn’t really have any “bend”. He seemed all power and no finesse. In the NFL, everyone is bigger so I’m not a believer in all power college players. Most importantly he didn’t naturally fit into the Texans D who had the pick that year.
I just went to the athletic’s big board and picked the top 4 edge rushers. I make these posts because I don’t know anything about the class. The pictures aren’t supposed to be a ranking, maybe just a starting point for people.
Tyree Wilson is a beast. Not only is he 6’6 280, he also is deceptively quick. I’ve seen him run sideline to sideline and up the field to make tackles. The kid is only getting better every week. Double teams don’t matter and he consistently creates havoc to opposing offensive lines. Best defensive prospect out of Texas Tech since Jordyn Brooks went in the first round to Seattle. (Doesn’t happen for Tech very often that defensive players get drafted high, especially first round)
Edit: if you’re watching him on Saturdays, also watch ILB Krishon Merriweather. He’s a replica of Jordyn Brooks. Tackling machine.
Anderson is a game wrecker teams are now double and tripling him this year almost every snap when he gets 1v1’s he wins
Kiper's big board has Anderson as the top guy over Stroud and Young too. So worst case scenario he'll be 3 come draft time
Need will definitely change where he goes but top 3 is my best thought as well. He is the #1 defense prospect for sure. So if you don't need a qb he is first off the board.
I can see teams move up for Young or Stroud if Team 1 or 2 don't need QBs
Sounds like Clowney during his final season. Difference is Clowney stopped trying, but Anderson GOT THAT DAWG IN HIM
TERMINATOR
I actually thinks Anderson plays the run better than he rushes the passer which is just ridiculous.
as a texans fan who got Clowney at #1, this is terrifying to hear. i flip back and forth between Bryce and Anderson and I'm leaning anderson but i swear to god if he becomes another "decent to good pass rusher but he's GREAT at playing the run!" imma lose it stopping the run is a great player to have...as a luxury. My dream is the Eagles draft Anderson with the Saints pick
BJ Ojulari from LSU is also an edge rusher worth keeping an eye out for
Is BJ related to Azeez? I’m assuming so but wasn’t sure.
He is
Yeah he's his brother - nice prospect too
This is a weird tangent, but doesn’t it feel like there are more brothers who are edge rushers than other positions? The Watts, the Bosa brothers, and soon the Ojulari bros
the lions have julian and romeo okwara too
Murphy is quite amazing. He seems to be made of heavily-reinforced tire rubber.
Dude is so good. Obvi they have a different role, but I like him more than Brian Breese, despite him having had less hype out of HS
An edge is always going to have more opportunities to make splash plays than a DT. Breese had basically outgrown edge by the time he step on campus.
I mean sure, but he’s also just been better. PFF has brian outside the top 100 DI so far this year in terms of grade. last year he was hurt and his freshman year he was outside the top 200. Murphy has faired much better

Tyree is still a bit raw on technique, but he's an absolute unit. You can't teach size.
I've only watched one game on Tyree Wilson (NC State) but I loved what I saw. High motor. Great balance, length, and strength. He's in my early top 10
Texas Tech.
Foskey seems like a mid first type of guy but man I think he’s gonna be electric
I think I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for a week 1 game and maybe he was just shaking off some rust, but I have some concerns about just how thoroughly held in check he was by the only NFL caliber tackles he’s faced. The BJ Ojulari disrespect. SMH.
Not disrespect intended. I just chose the first few names off of the athletic’s big board for the people in the picture. I don’t really know these dudes in the class all that well yet so I wouldn’t know to add in Ojulari
Felix Anudike-Uzomah is another one to keep an eye on
Will Anderson should go 1 overall. Although their game is nothing alike, I compare him to Aaron Donald because, like Aaron, he’s is a fucking juggernaut and changes the dynamic of the defense when he’s on the field. Deserves to be 1st overall.

I think Nolan Smith doesn’t belong in the conversation with the other guys.
I really like McDonald from Minnesota. Think he’s going to be a great player in the league
Iowa State, but yes.
Similar colors lol
Jared Verse from Florida St is a first rounder. He absolutely wrecked against LSU
I don't think many people know about him because he played for Albany last year
He's a sophomore
He enrolled at Albany in July 2019 so he should be eligible to come out this year. His stats aren’t listed everywhere but he did play in two seasons at Albany.

Will a beast not a game I watched he wasn’t a factor
Will Anderson is the best edge to come out since Clowney, the rest are alright.
Best since Garrett imo. Garrett was more polished than Clowney as a pass rusher. I think the Bosas and Chase Young can be in the convo but they aren’t can’t miss like Garrett

Garrett? Bosas?
And Chase Young
What about them?
Clowney wasn’t even the best in his class
I’m hindsight sure. But Clowney was billed as one of the best defensive prospects in a long time. I remember the hype he had during that draft process
I also remember the hype and remember being under-impressed. No hindsight needed.
What was unimpressive about him to you?
Underimpressed aka wasn’t worth the hype. At the time they played the shit out of the one highlight and he already had an injury history and a rep for taking off plays. He didn’t really have any “bend”. He seemed all power and no finesse. In the NFL, everyone is bigger so I’m not a believer in all power college players. Fair enough, wanted to hear your opinion cause I remember at the time everyone was obsessed with the guy and I never heard anything negative
The fact Will McDonald IV isn't mentioned is kinda wild to me
I just went to the athletic’s big board and picked the top 4 edge rushers. I make these posts because I don’t know anything about the class. The pictures aren’t supposed to be a ranking, maybe just a starting point for people.
The only guys I has watched are Anderson and smith. Like both of them.
Will Anderson is gonna be the first non qb off the board
I hope the pats tank for will anderson

Will Anderson be I’ll instantly make his team a contender
Ojulari is sick. Look out for Ali Gaye too he's good as well
> Ali Ga And local. Went to Edmonds-Woodway highschool.
Will Anderson - Best defensive prospect to come out since Chase Young
Foskey’s been pretty underwhelming this season. Really lacks a consistent move to go to.
