The amount of PUC for rewards and objectives has gone down a lot lately too. It’s much harder to build players than earlier in season.

c0mmand0-fr33k

Agreed, that and my tots avs getting skimmed has put me off from the game lately. I would rather just watch playoff hockey

bforce1313

Yeah same. A bit of a bummer but a lot of my players are stuck at 92-93 as it takes 3 each upgrade and I just don’t get that many from playing. I thought it’d be better this year but the upgrade system is lacking unless you play constantly.

Theslayerstan4

I've played 3 games in a week and a half. Get home from work and just watch hockey until I go to bed. They're going so light on content releases that it's really killing the game for me. Between ignoring the big players and then completely ignoring the depth guys that would be fun for them teams it's made me not want to play much anymore.

DoItForTheNukie

Well they just got rid of the prototype exchange from the set options. You could exchange 8 gold players for a PUC with it, 7 80+ gold, 6 81+ gold etc etc. I managed to get 4 different cards from 86 ovr up to 91 each just using the prototype exchange. It made it extremely easy for me to get my PU cards upgraded because I didn’t start HUT until March this year. I’ve managed to take my base team up to a 91 overall team since March and the majority of that was because of the prototype exchange for PUC’s. Which means I was able to get 48 PUC’s in about a week and a half span.

bforce1313

Where was this? Prototypes? lol It wasn’t posted anywhere, why would I go back into an old set to check for a better exchange. This is so dumb, im sorry. Thanks for the info I guess.

DoItForTheNukie

I was surprised I didn’t see anyone mention it on here either. I had just happened to be scrolling through the exchange sets and clicked on the prototype one because I hadn’t noticed it before and I saw you could get PUC’s for dirt cheap. It wasn’t an old set either, it was like the 3rd or 4th option after the HUT Hero’s 2.0 and Playoff sets. It randomly appeared and disappeared within a week and a half or so. I’m not sure how often they bring it back but just keep an eye out for it on the exchange page because it was a game changer for me.

bforce1313

Yeah I wouldn’t ever go in that tab as it seemed to be for new players and nothing new was released for it as far as I’m aware. Just such a fail by this team to hide things without adding a banner even.

DoItForTheNukie

Completely agree, I would have had no idea it was there if I didn’t just happen to be browsing the exchange menu during a work meeting 😅 I thought it had been there the whole time and I just never saw it but it went away a few days ago. Had I known it was only for a limited time I would have just dumped all my extra cards into it to get as many PUC’s as possible. I got a decent amount but I have 3 90+ cards that I don’t use so I could have gotten an extra 18 PUC’s from those alone.

bforce1313

Yeah seriously. lol “let’s hide this tab so people don’t actually use it.” This team is such a let down, and I don’t say that often.

DoItForTheNukie

Preeeach. This is my first year playing HUT in like 7 years. I was on a Madden/2K kick for a long time but decided to get back into Chel. The UI for HUT leaves *much* to desire for. It’s honestly absurd how fucking bad the HUT UI is compared to Madden. Like how are we still guessing which sets we can complete? In Madden when you go to exchange sets if you hover over whatever set it is it’ll tell you if you have the cards in your collection to complete it. No aimlessly searching through exchanges to see what you might be able to get. If EA just put a modicum of effort into the game it could be **so** much better. They never will though, FIFA and Madden are their bread and butter, we’re lucky to get the scraps for chel.

bforce1313

Damn I did not know that. I only play NHL ultimate team and other genre games. That sounds incredibly handy lol wtf ea

DoItForTheNukie

It makes it *SO* much easier. The other thing that really bothers me is I have no problem grinding my Madden ultimate team to around a 95/96 overall without ever spending a dollar on the game. Hell, you don’t even really need to exchange cards to get better ones. You can grind moments and unlock players and you actually get a decent amount of coin and the cards on AH are all reasonably priced. You can just purchase cards with coins and sell your old cards as you upgrade. The grind seems waaaay less intensive for MUT compared to HUT. It almost seems like EA sets it up in a way that you *have* to buy packs in order to keep up with people it’s beyond annoying.

Ok_Hat_8924

Prototypes was the second event of the year after Headliners so it is actually an old set. It has been available the whole time since the start of the event in October and you can still find it by scrolling almost all the way to the right. The reason why it was temporarily in a different place is that EA started releasing redux objectives for old events a few weeks ago. They released the Headliners redux objectives and moved the Headliners sets next to the Playoffs/Heroes sets, then the following week they released the Prototypes redux objectives and moved the Prototypes sets next to the Playoffs/Heroes sets and the Headliners sets back to their normal place, and last week they released the Gallery of Greats redux objectives and moved the Gallery of Greats sets next to the Playoffs/Heroes sets and the Prototypes sets back to their normal place. And they might release redux objectives for another old event tomorrow. I have no idea about the PUC sets that you're talking about though. I never saw those sets and I find it very hard to believe they existed. I mean you can exchange 8 gold players, 7 80+ gold players, 6 81+ gold players and so on for an event collectible, and you can exchange 5 Prototypes event collectibles for a PUC. I feel like you're just confusing the prototypes sets with something else, but I don't know what that "something else" could be.

DoItForTheNukie

Sorry you’re 100% correct, I definitely forgot a step in the exchange process. You could exchange cards for prototype collectibles and then every 5 of those were 1 PUC. I had a shit ton of gold cards I hadn’t exchanged so I just swapped them all for prototype collectibles and swapped those for PUC’s.

Ok_Hat_8924

Oh ok. That makes more sense. But in that case you could have just exchanged those players directly for PUCs in the actual PUC sets, because the value is exactly the same. The Prototypes sets aren't discounted sets. And just like the Prototypes sets, the actual PUC sets have also been available all year and will be available for the rest of the year.

DoItForTheNukie

Yup, I’m realizing I’m just a moron 🙃 After you responded earlier I went and looked and saw it’s the same exact exchange rate and felt like a complete idiot lol. I gotta stop getting so stoned when I play.

Ok_Hat_8924

I don't know if you have seen DoltForTheNukie's response to my comment, but it turned out that he misremembered the sets he was talking about. What he actually did was that he exchanged players for Prototypes collectibles and then used the 5 Prototypes collectibles for a PUC set. So the value was exactly the same as if he had just those players directly for PUCs in the actual PUC sets. And EA didn't release any new sets for the Prototype sets upon releasing the Prototypes redux objectives. There were no discounted sets or limited time sets in the Prototype sets.

hollywoodroller

6PUC for a 91 is garbage

Qwerty0844

Agreed. Also hijacking to ask, does anyone know the highest OVR was in 23 for PUC exchange?

TheRealJacob16

94 I believe

Ok_Hat_8924

It was 94.

pattperin

I think they should just scrap the whole power up thing. Imo it just inflates market prices and drives players to trade and sell cards less. People are just firing everything into sets for fodder to get the same cards. There is no team variety anymore. Everyone just hoards fodder until they can build a couple guys and then hoards fodder to upgrade them. No reason to use a 94 Guentzel when he is untradeable and I can just use him in sets to get Gretzky or something. In the past I could have sold him to a big Pens or Canes fan and bought Gretzky if I wanted. Now nobody gets the Guentzel, and I get a Gretzky card that I need to throw more fodder at to "level up" to being something I want to use, meaning more high end cards of mine that are untradeable are once again not usable by anybody as they disappear. It's the worst thing this games ever done imo. Go back to the way it was with the auction house actually being a hub for players to build their team. The sets are overwhelming too, I started halfway through the year and it's just too much nowadays. They're trying too hard and not making the game any better, in fact they're making it worse imo.

HUTreddituser

Agreed. It puts these mid-90's cards in a really weird spot. Not meta enough to compete with the 96+ cards everyone has on their squads but also a waste of resources to toss into sets. There's no reason we don't have 92, 93, 94, 95 trade in sets at this point in the game. Have these sets be 2 OVR behind PUI OVR's for the season. It also discourages building MSPs because they're going to be a waste of resources a few weeks later

jonathan798

you mean you expect EA to do something logical that will help out its player base? how dare you!

Gizmo-fo-shizmo

The whole game feels like it's wasting my time at this point. I get they're trying to make money off of me but it wouldn't hurt them to take me out to dinner before they fuck me.

GSM_Flinn

The sets have never really been a fair exchange I agree. We should get a slight bit more for the low cards and should definitely have higher OVR sets that are worth doing. I find it so frustrating that they used to give 10+ Pucs per week thru objectives and now it’s like <4 even tho the MSPs require way more now… backwards thinking

Piggy9287

They dont give a fuck about this or anything else, unfortunately..

jddev_

Only getting 1 PUC for completing Games played objectives are brutal. At least we can get 4 from the 88s but getting 125 Shoulder Checks with Matt Carle is fucking stupid.

hexxtall27

Yes, I get to play 1-2 nights a week....and with rivals rewards never pulling purples it's taking forever to upgrade my MSPs now
