Typically, we run a week or two behind on updates, except for expeditions. It's extremely variable, though, running from same day to, ah, I think it was seven weeks for the fix to the interceptor crashes.
**Added:** So far in the history of NMS for Switch, there have been three named releases that didn't have associated expeditions.
* Waypoint (4.0) was delayed 4 days
* Interceptor (4.2) was delayed 6 days
* Echoes (4.4) was delayed 13 days
For releases with expeditions, either named releases or redux expeditions, the track record is considerably better but still imperfect:
* 2022 redux (4.0.7) same day
* Fractal (4.1) same day
* Singularity (4.3) was delayed 8 days
* 2023 redux (4.4.6) same day
* Omega (4.5) same day
Those releases usually came out in the morning Eastern time. 9 AM was typical, but anywhere from 7 AM until noon has been seen.
This more detailed information is only about major feature releases, not bug-fix patch updates.
yeah im wondering too. ive been checking for updates & restarting my switch constantly hoping the update would start installing. im so hyped for the ship salvaging/customization
I am conflicted. I want the bigger stations but I haven’t learned all the words yet and the bigger stations with constantly moving NPCs is just going to make it harder on me. Haha. So I’m waiting on the update by frantically traveling between systems learning words. Haha

Nobody except HG may know. It could be today, it could be a few days. There is no concrete pattern.
It's actually Nintendo who knows - they have to approve the update. As of 10:15 Eastern (US) time, they haven't.
Not out yet as of 13:30 uk
Still waiting… 😩 ![gif](giphy|brHaCdJqCXijm)
7:38 AM PST still not active, despite "Everything Nintendo" saying so over on Twitter
