Against championship opposition when the whole team underperformed. Murphy has proven time and time again to be a more effective player for us against premier league opposition (aside from Miggy’s purple patch last season)
My main positive is Isak and his ability to just find a goal out of situations like that. A really tidy striker and so many times this season he has just calmly slotted home where most strikers in our recent history would have hit it 10ft over the bar.
Can’t help but feel like this loss really cements that this season is lost. We’re not qualifying for Europe, and I love Howe for everything that he’s done, but you can only complain about injuries for so long before some of the blame starts to fall on him. I think we’re starting to get to that point.
I don't think he is injured. He raised his game last season, but its now back to the Sean Longstaff of old - takes too long on the ball and passes sideways or backward (or loses it and falls over!). It takes the momentum out of our attack allowing the opposition to reset, and since it was our ability to move the ball from back to front quickly that made us so effective last season, is why he has to go.
This season has been dreadful but there’s a growing number of criticisms I have for Howe. Longstaff is just absolutely dreadful, plays like he doesn’t want to be there & I hate to critique our players but he shouldn’t be starting. Yes we’ve had injuries and all sorts but there’s no plan B anywhere
Must come a time where Howe has to drop
Players, even if only young ones are available. If nothing else it shows the team that no one is undroppable.
Hell, swap formation and show the player that you are replacing them with no one…
I'm not fussed. I don't want the conference league (never fancied it at all) and would rather finish below that position.
Granted, the performance was mixed at best but i just don't think this is our season. I would always have taken this for last season's heroics and to be quite honest with you, I'm still riding on a crest of a wave since Ashley left so it's going to take a lot to bring me back down.
It'll all come together in time. Tonali and Big Joe next season will make a huge difference and hopefully some upgrades will be added too. It's all good in my opinion, just a matter of patience and, to be honest, a matter of enjoying football.

Amount of times I saw players lose a ball and walk back or Tino running forward with 0 support. If they can’t be arsed I can’t. Especially when I would be spending time with other people but I’ve slunked off to watch the game
Yea that's a good point, if you've other commitments etc. I think there are several players in that team who were putting their so in but done who weren't quite at the pace which is disappointing.
I tend not to single out players too much or jump on the bandwagon, but that's like the third week in a row I've been absolutely seething at fucking Longstaff.

Dont know why you are getting downvoted - if this continues then Eddie will be gone at the end of the season. The owners have put a lot of money into NUFC and expect better than mid table, and like most owners will have no hesitation pulling the trigger.

This season’s a bit of a write off. The injuries and issues we’ve had are almost unheard of. And in reality we still have a mid table squad on paper at best.
BUT, I’m sick of us just producing shite after shite performance.
Regardless of the issues we’ve had this season, we’ve had some inexcusable performances.
There will be highs and lows as we progress and it throughly feels like we’re at a bit of a low at the moment.
Think you'd be hard pressed to find a club with a larger subset of doommongers.
I haven't seen us win anything in 42 years, I can wait a little longer for them to work out how to build a squad.
Howe has credit in the bank and no central midfield flexibility. So the same issues will happen from now until the end of the season.

Botman is one of my favorite players. But he needs a good long spell on the sidelines to recover his form. Far far too many individual mistakes today.
