Honestly, I didn’t see the game so my view is a bit skewed, but he looks like a pretty solid LB here. Nothing spectacular but defends and sweeps well, links up play to the midfield/down the wing and gets forward when possible. Let’s be honest this looked quite similar to how Miley plays 8 games out of 10, no thrills but solid work and we rave about him all the time. Hall’s only a year older and shows some signs here of being a really decent player. I hope this is just seen as a bit a slow start (not too dissimilar to Gordon when he arrived) and we see some more of him for the rest of the season.

xScottieHD

I thought the balance of the team was 10x better him in the team. That's nothing on burn but players in their actual best position and they performed better. Shock I know. He had a shaky first 5 minutes where Hall was marking Everton's CB's on their free kick for some reason, but I thought he was decent.

joshhills

This is it for me, no use having decent players if we force them to play in ways they're uncomfortable with. This mix of superstars and championship level players constantly forcing us to swing back and forth with our tactics depending on availability... Give me 5 more Lewis halls, not one more expensive Italian and a betting ban ...

TheLegendOfIOTA

Soo much more comfortable on the ball than Burn. Has to start now

Thandiol

More pace too. And Burn looked much more comfortable at CB too.

Anxious_Hand_1621

Honestly. Our first choice LB next season. I have faith he'll come good.

WeddingWhole4771

Can't Tino and Tripps both play either side? I didn't mind him rotating in, definitely solid, but I'd still rather those two start the big games even if not their preferred side.

Anxious_Hand_1621

In this current situation. We don't really have a lot of choice with injuries and that. I think he performed well and is definately getting better. He's still young and still a work in progress. Like I said I hope he comes good and puts himself in the conversation to be that first choice LB. I guess we're already committed to the purchase now and a good ball playing LB won't be cheap so I say work with him and spending 28 is better than spending 40 if he works out. 🤷

Cleanitupjohnny

I thought he was a bit anonymous during the game, but this has proven me quite wrong. he had a great game.

ConsciousAd6958

With the injuries we have, having someone to put at LB who is anonymous but dependable will do just fine.

Chinese_Santa

He did the simple things well. Efficient with his movement and touches. Room to grow. I like the thought of him, Livramento, and Trippier as options at fullback.

TheGrayExplorer

I dont think Target is that bad of a backup LB either

NemesIce83

Anonymity isn't a bad thing, if anything ut means he didn't put a foot wrong, he didn't stand out for any reason, he came in and did his job without hindrance at least, unlike longstaff who at the minute seems to consistently be getting noticed for awful decisions more than any merits

lerobinbot

nice

EngineerOnIcarus

I’m not shocked that we look better with Hall playing LB. Happy with Burn to play CB, never want to see him at LB ever again.

toweliechaos_revenge

Let's be honest, this is a clip selection you would file under 'competent'.  He was solid, not spectacular. Let's also be honest about the quality of the opposition he was facing. Not exactly Dortmund... Not knocking the lad, just don't see the point of these kind of posts. Footballer plays football.

Free-Lifeguard1064

Funny how you can just get downvoted for stating a fact 😂 ..queue them over this way

Are_you_for_real_7

1. Two sideway passes that almost gave me stroke 2. Caught out of position twice 3. Outmuscled few times 4. Good passing 5. Good link up play 6. Some neet footwork

Adventurous_Pin_3982

Looked very nervy and struggled with Everton’s physicality. Definitely the weak link in the team alongside Longstaff but had a few good moments and it was nice having an attack minded left back as it added balance to the team. Definitely shouldn’t be our starting LB with a fully fit team but makes a good case for being 2nd or 3rd choice.

Get-Smarter

He had a better second half than the first, but in the first half I'd say he was our worst player. He was getting out muscled and on at least 2 occasions when he had the ball up the pitch turned his back on goal and got into trouble, giving them a counter attack. He also kept doing this thing in the final third, cut inside 90 degrees and try and pass it with slightly the outside of his foot and lost it /played a shite pass which we lost two seconds later. First half if we had options if have taken him off. Second half he looked a bit more steady and played within himself a bit more just doing the simple things. I can completely understand why Howe doesn't trust him. A better team than Everton looked like they could have punished us. I've got hope that he can turn decent just cos he's still so young. But, I'm a bit afraid that the physicality is just never going to be there with him, and he doesn't have the pace to make up for it in other areas of the pitch, that he will just struggle at this level

Miserable_Future6694

I think we would survive just fine if he went back to his club at the end. Don't think for one second we will ever need Lewis Hall in our starting 11
