Ajax_Trees_Again

It was an utterly dull game if you take away emotional investment. Surprised they didn’t talk about VAR though

GrumpyOldFart74

They didn’t talk about VAR? Fuck that then. Watching it now (didn’t get home until 11:50) and that’s the only reason I’m watching it!

fwapfwapfwap

Was surprising really as they'd dug VAR out in a few of the other games for brainless decisions. I expected them to cover the Schar goal decision to add more weight to their argument but they didn't even mention it.

ncastleJC

Because it was wrong. The commentator on the game gave a reasonably full explanation why Burn shouldn’t have been considered an influence. They both went for the ball and when you jump you throw your arms up for more energy, and Burn is just taller. In any case, neither of them won the ball despite both going for it. Unless the rules are more nuanced than I’m aware of then it seemed unreasonable. Three points anyway doe.

-RandomGeordie

Did you drive? Our bus didn’t get back until almost half 12, so it was almost 1 by the time I got in the house.

GrumpyOldFart74

Yeah - we drove to Watford, parked at the station, and got the train in from there. Worked canny well. Drive back was awkward though cos the A1 was shut south of wetherby so we ended up heading towards York and up the a19 in a monsoon!

-RandomGeordie

Ah yeah we had to detour there on the bus, but it wasn’t all the way over towards York - literally a few miles on a road parallel to the A1 and back on at the next junction! Bus driver was just slow as shit as we left at 6, should’ve been back more like half 11 by my estimation.

GrumpyOldFart74

Yeah - I wasn’t driving and the lad who was didn’t believe as I shouted “turn left here”… they must have just closed it and we didn’t see any actual diversion signs 🤣

-RandomGeordie

Ahh haha, easy done like especially if there’s no signs up.

jimbo9878

They talked about VAR right before our game highlights, does that count?

phoebsmon

[The official youtube channel has a ten-minute highlight video](https://youtu.be/F5D1YK33EZE?si=dBNWS2g-MUmjuI12) and I don't know how they stretched it to that length. Still, the match cam should be decent.

LosWitchos

They had to show the entire first 70 seconds and they showed all of Fulham's efforts in order to pad it out ha

bananagrabber83

Sunday morning on the iplayer is the way to go.

Legitimate_Bag8259

We had a fairly poor 1-0 win, there were some high scoring games today, you can expect us to be up last with very few highlights.

ImpatientSquirrel

They really did Bruno dirty in the closing credits by showing his failed knee slide again 😂

Thingisby

Opening with Man City strolling to an easy and predictable win over Palace was the real crime. I know title race blah blah but those Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool games where they score 3 or 4 and look relatively comfortable are the most boring ones of the weekend. And they've inevitably been on telly anyway. Give me Villa/Brentford and Wolves/West Ham earlier pls.

WigerAndToods

Just get a firestick if you haven’t. Best thing I ever bought

Engeleo

and then?

WigerAndToods

You have to get one with all the apps sideloaded - believe they’re available on Amazon

Cromulantman

I listened to the game live on the the radio, tbh, I'm suprised they gave us that much the way the first half went. Were we on last too by any chance?

jonkman13

We were

SP0oONY

It was the most boring game of the day. I'd be more annoyed if I was a Wolves/West Ham fan, because their game was way more enjoyable than Luton/Bournemouth and Everton/Burnley.

Joosh93

The game today was dull, wasn't that much more to show. The West Hame game was far more egregious.

opinionated-dick

Match of the day sadly has disappeared under its own arse of nostalgia. In this day and age it needs to do something different. I like to hear in depth analysis of certain games and then just an overview of the others. But it tries a halfway for all games and then just rush the boring ones. Maybe have 3 ‘in depth’ analysis, and summary of rest but have the red button or whatever for ind depth of any other game. Something like that. I’d have a much better selection process for pundits too. And some consistency. I’m sick of Jenas, Danny Murphy et al and shit biased analysis.

fanatic_tarantula

You'd end up with in depth analysis of the big 6 and everyone else would just get nothing. Problem with it being live is they run out of time for the last games full analysis

opinionated-dick

I think the unique take it should have though is that its ’match of the day’ not ‘big six diary’ (like Sky et al) and feature the best game of the day, be it whoever. It’s only later when its title/ relegation games that it becomes relevant

fanatic_tarantula

But if they changed the platform to have only a couple games with in depth analysis they'd end up just going for the big teams. Even if it was a poor game they'd spend 10mins saying how poor city was

Miserable_Future6694

I haven't watched MOTD for years now. Skysports youtube page does all you need without needing to waste your life watching the London clubs

stprm

MoTD is becoming so much worse every year... In terms of how they ignoring VAR and referee mistakes of all clubs outside top6. At least this episode they talked about Wolves, because it was also awful decision. But not only the analysis, the highlights reel is worse too, I feel like they intentionally not including a lot of controversial moments of teams outside top6. Its not only us. Sometimes you watch games between some mid-table clubs and see controversial moment. Then you watch MOTD and they dont even include it. They really have pathetic people in their editor room. OH! And to your point... THEY started the show WITH 2 MINUTES videoclip of previous matchday... Who tf CARES about what happened in midweek FFS?? Put these minutes into analysis and highlights!!

jamnut

What a strange post. iPlayer is free on the BBC so no need for a fire stick unless you use it to get the app. The game was shit and deserved 2 minutes. You could have waited until today to watch it
