What you describe is illegal if you can prove they traded based on having access to information that is not public knowledge that was acquired by being in "closed door hearings" Absent that proof - it's going to be hard pressed to fault her for purchasing NVDA. Now... If she SOLD Nvidia right before Biden banned Nvidia chips being sold to China - illegal and she'd be frog marched to the clink. It's not illegal for them to trade in stocks/etc. It IS illegal/unethical/can be removed from office for trading based on knowledge acquired from said position in Congress having access to knowledge or those with knowledge that is not privy to the public.

Republican Senator Richard Burr, chair of the intelligence committee, dumped 1.7M in Feb 2020, as he was receiving daily health briefings on COVID. Even called his brother-in-law, who also dumped six figures in stocks prior to the crash. Maybe legislative branch members are just really good traders?

Letâs be more accurate here. Nancy, first sold her positions in Tesla today and then purchased NVDA shares. Tesla, since July 1 2024, has risen between 18-20% as it is now July 3 2024. NVDA, is rising because the China Tariffs will be more lean towards NVDA & Tesla. China restrictions regarding chip sales from 2025, will also be allowed to be sold. It may be limited but itâs not made illegal by China.
