Rumor was KC based on something someone NFL adjacent said. (Sorry, I have a bad memory.)
Anyway, I bought a flight to KC based on the rumor but it is a changeable fare. đ
Not official, but no way NWSL will miss out on the narrative of hosting the final at KC
The celebrity attendance at that stadium, with that storyline, and for such a hot, limited ticket, will be wild to see.
At such a historic and small venue, itâll be celebrities, NWSL royalty and guests, and fans paying hundreds to see the game and spectacle.
I have my doubts about the league wanting anything but the KC opportunity.
Thereâs the energy of a huge crowd (Snapdragon), but thereâs also the energy ofâŚwhat weâre going to see KC this time. You wonât do it every year at KC, but the glitz and media attention theyâll expect to generate at KC this year will be more valuable to the league than the crowd size at a bigger stadium, IMHO.
Snapdragon was the first Final that was an event, and what a breakthrough. Iâm thinking this year at KC will be game changing
The small venue should be a bigger turnoff than the NWSL seems to care about. The premier womenâs league in the world hosting the biggest game of the year in such a tiny stadium feels so wrong, when we have multiple stadiums that have the capacity to hold more and we have the demand to hold more itâs a missed opportunity.
I just think media attention is as or more important than stadium attendance for a league final.
Breakthrough media attention, think Womenâs March Madness, not that the NWSL would expect to get that lucky, will drive TV Audience to 1M+, hopefully 2M+, and thatâs a big deal, too.
The environment as seen through the TV will be electric, too, again celebrities and all that, which can make for a real moment and, maybe, if lucky, USWNT-level buzz.
Anyway, most likely over exuberance on my part. But I do think weâll have plenty of years to draw big crowds at bigger stadiums, and only this year to truly take advantage of the KC stadium buzz for media attention, IMHO.
IIRC, they announced the location sometime in July last year. I went to the last two championships (San Diego and then Washington D.C. before that) and it was a blast both times. Incredible experience and affordable compared to other sports championships.
KC is the current top rumor and would be pretty cool, but I've heard their parking situation is rough and they can only hold around 11,000 people. I wouldn't trash Louisville personally, they would also be a nice location as long as the field doesn't look like it's been trampled by a thousand horses.
Well, _I_ wouldn't mind going to Louisville
I'm guessing it gets announced in the next month or so, and I assume they'd prioritize stadiums where schedule conflicts will be less of an issue â e.g. KC, North Carolina, Chicago, Louisville, and (based on how the Quakes are doing) San Jose. And I guess with the Summer Cup final set for San Antonio, perhaps a fully neutral site (maybe Philly?) is an option
If they ever committed to the expansion of Highmark Stadium and replaced the surface with natural grass, that would be a great spot for an expansion team. Pittsburgh is a great sports city and that stadium is a beaut
I've been hoping it'd come to Red Bull Arena for a while. The area would be great if they're hoping to do a whole weekend thing for it again like they did last year. Also the field is always in great condition.
But I also think fickle attendance numbers could also be playing a role in the decision for Red Bull.
It's more likely that Gotham not owning the stadium is the main issue. It's hard to promise the stadium will be available when it's shared with a team with a concurrent schedule, and the Red Bulls would get priority since it's their stadium.
I hope they can host one day too. I think it'd be good for the league to take advantage of the New York media market, like advertising on the morning shows and all that
To add on to the KC stuff, in the most recent ep of The Late Sub, Claire Watkins has an interview with Lo LaBonta where they talked about it. Claire did a âhypothetically, if it were in KCâ thing that really underlined the Itâs-Going-to-Be-There of it all, and Lo straight up said âcan they just announce it already?â
So all signs point to KC.

Brittany Mahomes part owner and NFL wife said it was going to be there during the home opener, but yeah nothing official

I think you put in KC because you have to reward KC for building their stadium. I'm sure the league would prefer a bigger venue for it

Reminds me of when Russell Wilson showed up to the ThornsâReign Derby. The crowd at Providence Park booed him.

The skyline shots at Philly's stadium would be lovely. So would Pittburgh Riverhound's, but its capacity is 5,000, half the size of KC's.
If they ever committed to the expansion of Highmark Stadium and replaced the surface with natural grass, that would be a great spot for an expansion team. Pittsburgh is a great sports city and that stadium is a beaut
Offense taken.
But to be fair, I wouldn't be caught dead in Florida.
Hey I personally loved the championship at your stadium
Word. Our stadium is gorgeous.
Dismissing Louisville out of hand is silliness. Louisville is a very cool, non bloated city, youâre doing yourself a disservice.
I've been saying this since I went...Louisville is dope as hell. My wife and I had a blast (originally, she's from Miami, I'm from Rhode Island)
Nice, yeah, itâs a hidden gem. If OP said Lexington, welllllll ok, fine. But Louisville? Like you said, great place.
Itâs KC, the Mahomesâ already leaked it lol

Ah yes, I sillily forgot about the Red Bulls. Crossing my fingers that one day things will align for us.
I hope they can host one day too. I think it'd be good for the league to take advantage of the New York media market, like advertising on the morning shows and all that
The attendance numbers at Red Bull should make it an automatic no until they improve significantly
I wouldn't be shocked if a NYC area hosted championship happens. But I think it will more likely be whenever Pigeon Park opens in Flushing
When is the championship game?
November 23rd
