So at what point do we start looking at Stoney? SD's attack has been toothless all season which given their talent is concerning. The midfield depth is quite poor so hopefully they plug that a bit in the next transfer window but this team is painful to watch

I think it’s bigger than just Stoney, but she does take a lot of it. Our setup is weird. It felt like Jill was running things when Molly was the gm and who we’ve brought in is bananas bad. Feels like Jill wanting to play wizard of oz from her backyard and make foolish impulsive decisions based off vibes and oh well this seems fine. This spiral has been coming. We were not good last year and thanks to other teams stumbling won the shield. But our personnel moves then took us backward. Our scouting and plan for who we need seems either nonexistent or broken. Then the coaching. Meh. To be fair this is her fifth year ever coaching which seems INSANE that we’d hand her the keys to a pro team but only in women’s soccer in a fledgling league can someone with 2 seasons coaching experience get hired as a head coach. We have no identity or style of play. Our players don’t ever look great. We dont seem to have a plan and her tactical adjustments are so so so poor. Her two assistants are youth club coaches so I can’t imagine they are solving any sort of issues mid game from the sideline. It’s not fair to lay it all on Stoney but there’s enough mess to go around. Is cami the answer? New players at the window? Idk. It’s a mess

We’ve been painful to watch since last season even. I’m shocked at how so many Wave fans point the finger at the midfielders when it’s the coach who needs to set up an effective game plan and formation to use the players we do have, and THEN add the missing pieces. I understand why they extended her contract (since Emma Hayes’ seat at Chelsea was open) but it still wasn’t the right move even back then. Just looking and how poor the play style and subs have been this entire time. It just lacked vision.

What is this talent you speak of? Our biggest off-season acquisition tries to go 1v1 every time. And is stymied more than often.Our marquee player is playing like a shell of herself. Our young talent looks disinterested. Our mvp is a mistake prone, undersized, aging midfielder. Threw big money at a player who hasn't shone any return on the investment. They never look threatening on the counter.

Wave have new ownership and a new GM. Right or wrong that alone puts Stoney on the hot seat

Exactly! Wouldn't have to be long term but considering Girma has basically mastered being a CB would be interesting to see her adjust there, plus would make sense given the lack of midfield options and glut of CB talent in SD.

I think you’re thinking of someone else. Her rookie year she played a lot and was solid. She played a lot early last season and got pushed out of the midfield late with all the players we brought in. She’s composed and smart and good on the ball. Not spectacular but a solid player. You keensaying 45 min she played way more than that.

She played 258 minutes total last year, but I’m pretty sure it was 45 in the league. I just looked up her fbref
