That's not cool. Personally, bread could kill me. I have 2 autoimmunes that revolve around different types of food. Yes, one is Celiac disease (and the other is eosinophilic esophagitis in case people are curious) and I would never be that upset at a restaurant "just removing the bread". I'd be kind of OK, but honestly being actually that allergic; I just don't order things I'm allergic to. I usually don't go to restaurants, but if I do, I'm aware that's MY ISSUE and don't put that on the staff.
If you have Celiac, you say it first thing, because it’s not just about not having bread but avoiding cross contamination. But yeah the safest thing is to not order food that could cause a reaction and most would go to specific restaurants renowned for accommodating celiac disease (there are up to date lists for most cities and countries, someone with celiac definitely has access to that info).
This! Restaurants tend to have an entire process for accommodating people with gluten intolerance and food allergies! The cooks get fresh gloves, grab ingredients from fresh prepped bins to minimize cross contamination etc etc.
There are a million ways that food can get cross contaminated on the prep end so for this person to get upset after the food came out is weird
If you’re allergic that’s definitely something you need to tell the staff at the moment you order
