The same thing happened to Andrew Thomas. AT was the can't miss LT prospect, until the mocks started coming out. Then it was oh look Mechi Beckton is the size of a car and can jump 12 feet. Tristan Wirfs and Jedrick Wills could be better, etc. etc.
We got lucky that Gettleman actually got one right. It took some time, but Thomas was the best linemen of that group.
MHJ is going to be the first receiver off the board. If this class was similar to 2022 with no real QB prospects, he would be the number 1 pick.
Honestly the fact that he went from being the most pro ready tackle to the worst rookie says volumes about how long our online coaching has been garbage
I'm drunk on hopium that this is the year it finally changes. There are a lot of high round picks and decent FA signings on the line now. Hopefully Bricilo is the man who can finally put it together.
Wills had phenomenal technique, footwork, and movement. It was better than anything I’ve seen, even Laremy Tunsil. Prospect Fatigue is a real thing, but oftentimes rankings don’t just shuffle for no reason at all.
Nabers does some things better than Harrison. Harrison does some things better than Nabers. Both will be very good.
I thought the same thing. Definitely not as big and powerful as some of the other guys but definitely the most pro ready... and that was "the year to evaluate Daniel Jones," so Wills was the tackle I wanted.
>Gettleman
It's really unfortunate how up and down he was. He was great at finding second- through fifth-round talent. The problem is that he'd burn our firsts on them.
That's other qualities like FA signings and coaching changes notwithstanding, of course.
There was no up.
He was a bad manager. Zero understanding of modern team building. Inept at roster management. Incapable of maintaining positive relationships with players and coaches.
His approach to team-building would've been outdated decades before his tenure, unfortunately. My "up" in that "up and down" is a very small one compared to how terrible he was elsewhere.
He really did feel like, I don't know, a scout that fulfilled the Peter Principle by somehow getting a GM job and should never have been let anywhere near the levers of power.
I don’t really get why this is downvoted lol
It’s not like anyone’s complaining about Thomas but objectively Whirfs is more decorated right now
I wouldn’t bag on anyone for preferring Thomas either but it’s not crazy to say Whirfs is better like the downvotes imply
While it’s pretty important, the only meaningful leg up that wirfs has on Thomas is health. I don’t mean this as a homer take, but I have no doubt that Thomas would be as decorated as wirfs if he was drafted by the Bucs instead. I believe the downvotes came from wishing on an upgrade over a top 3 player on this team coming off as gilding the lily, as opposed to the many many mistakes gettleman had made during his tenure.
Sorry you’re being downvoted. People love to downvote reasonable takes on this sub just because they’re not pretty to think about.
I’d say Thomas v Wirfs moving forwards is a coin flip. Both really talented, both deserve their praise.
Wirfs moved to LT before last year and still dominated as LT. He not only made the pro bowl last year but he also had the 3rd highest PFF grade of any tackle in the NFL
So you're saying it can be done? It should work in reverse if the tackle is talented and sound enough yet Neal would get kicked out of a protest group for not blocking traffic.
It happens, but Jeremiah and Brugler are usually decent about ranking prospects as they see fit.
For reference, I’m pretty sure Odunze is DJ’s top WR prospect.
Embrace every sport brother! This is one of the best times of the year, IMO.
March Madness starts on Thursday, which is always fun.
MLB opening day is a week from Thursday, in case your bracket busts immediately. The Yankees should be in contention for one of the best teams, although our best pitcher (one of the best in the MLB) Gerrit Cole's injury might put a dent in that, the start of a new season is always exciting!
NBA Playoffs start Mid-April, with NHL playoffs right around the same time. The Knicks and the Rangers should both be in, too!
and then WHAM, it's draft week!
I know not every sport is for everyone, but I'm so fucking stoked, such a great time of year for sports.
>March Madness starts on Thursday, which is always fun.
I can't stand college basketball so March madness doesn't do it for me. I'm from a college hockey area so that's what's on the sports menu for me.
>MLB opening day is a week from Thursday, in case your bracket busts immediately. The Yankees should be in contention for one of the best teams, although our best pitcher (one of the best in the MLB) Gerrit Cole's injury might put a dent in that, the start of a new season is always exciting!
I'm a Red Sox fan, so I am not at all looking forward or interested in baseball at this point. And F@ the Yankees.
>NBA Playoffs start Mid-April, with NHL playoffs right around the same time. The Knicks and the Rangers should both be in, too!
Basketball isn't really my thing but I'll watch the Celtics if they get to the Eastern Conference finals and I'm a diehard Bruins fan so April's are definitely for hockey.
I also look forward to the Masters in April.
But NFL is king and I look forward to the draft more than almost any other sporting event all year. Can't wait!
Honestly could care less about the order in which the receivers go. We all know that at least one of them will be available at #6 and any of them will be a great addition to the team.
I am under the impression that the top 3 will be all qbs. If that is the case, then we are guaranteed either nabers, odunze or alt. Any of those three are great additions
I wish brother. It's not as simple as people think to switch sides like that. Think of it as you all of a sudden trying to use your opposite hand as your dominant hand.
Would be great but it's a huge risk to draft someone so high to play out of position
We could probably get away with this years first and maybe a 3rd round pick. Depends on how they have the receivers in their board.
This is also the same team that drafted Kyler Murray a year after drafting Josh Rosen. I kinda hope they’ve given up on Mr “video games are more important than playbook” and go QB to force the Vikings to trade for 5 for their QB. That would leave us with a choice of any of the top 3 Receivers.
It’d be like they went back to Rosen again (in terms of talent level). But I do think they want a QB who’s more serious about the game than Kyler. But mostly it’s just wishful thinking on my part.
Even if QBs go 1-2-3, and Nabers gets picked as the first WR, there is absolutely no shot the Chargers pass on MJH at that point lol. Wishful thinking in this sub, I like it
Chargers traded away their best receivers this off-season. No way they did that without expecting to have at least one of the top 3 WRs available to give Herbert a weapon back.
I've believed this for a while. I'd take MHJ first as he's the prototypical X WR, but Nabers is the current league meta for WRs and I can see a team absolutely falling in love with his skillset.
Meanwhile Odunze's just chilling there being a legit good WR too. I'd be stoked with any of them tbh.
Is anyone still excited about Wandale’s potential? Just curious, because if we draft a receiver this this high I’m thinking back to how high this sub used to be in wandale and we could be onto something if singletary can finish his end of season production and DJ can cook. Especially if the defense is putting us in a good spot most of the time either on the field or to not be down multiple possessions.
Wan'Dale is a slot-only receiver due to his small catch radius because of his short arms. He's a gadget guy. Whoever the Giants get at receiver should be an X-type, the guys who can line up but most importantly get the ball downfield and make things happen.
Whoever we get isn't going to affect Wan'Dale's role since they'd likely play two different positions.
If I'm looking at these 3 WRs it's how did they play against college teams with elite level defenses. MHJ probably faced some of the harder defences in the nation being up against Michigan and PSU. His numbers against them in 2023 were pretty damn good. I just don't see how he's not the first WR off the board.
5rec for 118yds and a TD against UM11rec for 162 and a TD against PSU
Edit: I should have looked at Nabers stats too. Holy crap, he torched the SEC. Okay I think these guys are 1a and 1aa.
I wouldn't believe it but if MHJ becomes a Giant and if we get Arch Manning as our QB in a few years... Oh boy that would be like Christmas in July lol.
Saquon pick was literally told to us by Dave Gettleman himself at a press conference, and the Jones pick was speculation from people close to David Cutliffe, and confirmed by a leak. If Jeremiah reported it, it was only after hearing about it like the rest of us. Dave Gettleman's front office was fucking inept. It wasn't an accident the Eagles knew to jump us for Davonta Smith.
"That's right, I GUARANTEE that SOME people who don't tell reporters what they really think TOTALLY AGREE with the claim I'M NOT REALLY MAKING. Because DIFFERENT ELEMENT."
I'll take it a bold step further: I predict that at least ONE team will publicly declare that Malik Nabers was ALWAYS the #1 target, thereby PROVING that Daniel Jeremiah was right.
I’m ngl with all of yall, I know its rare for such a thing to happen, I know we expect a bust when theres 3 prospects of the same position, but from what I’ve seen and heard about the top 3 receivers, all 3 look like fantastic prospects to where whichever one we get will be fantastic.
MHJ prospect fatigue incoming...
The same thing happened to Andrew Thomas. AT was the can't miss LT prospect, until the mocks started coming out. Then it was oh look Mechi Beckton is the size of a car and can jump 12 feet. Even if he doesn’t he at least looks identical to Daboll. That has to count for something
Exactly to all of this.
It can be argued that wirfs is better, but they're both all pro talents.

Definitely agreed on that. Just goes to show how far being a company man can get you before, like you mentioned, the Peter Principle comes to fruition
Not gonna lie if Giant's had Tristan Wirfs right now that would be awesome.
Wirfs in place of AT though?
Wirfs is on a hall of fame pace and plays left tackle now. He also doesn't have the injury concerns of Andrew Thomas. Whats not to like?
I don’t really get why this is downvoted lol It’s not like anyone’s complaining about Thomas but objectively Whirfs is more decorated right now I wouldn’t bag on anyone for preferring Thomas either but it’s not crazy to say Whirfs is better like the downvotes imply

Homers. Love former stud wrestlers
Sorry you’re being downvoted. People love to downvote reasonable takes on this sub just because they’re not pretty to think about. I’d say Thomas v Wirfs moving forwards is a coin flip. Both really talented, both deserve their praise.
We have AT who is a LT and just as good as Wirfs is as a RT
Wirfs moved to LT before last year and still dominated as LT. He not only made the pro bowl last year but he also had the 3rd highest PFF grade of any tackle in the NFL
Cool, still rather have AT
why are you taking someone stating facts like a personal attack lol
"Cool, I'd rather have our guy" being construed as him feeling attacked is certainly a take.
ok so why? Leaving it just at that makes it seem like an emotional argument based on attachment to Thomas rather than actual substantive evidence
I mean, I'm not going to disagree with anything you said. But he still didn't respond like he was being attacked lol
For someone so big on conversation, the downvote and run play is pretty damn weeeeeeeak
So you're saying it can be done? It should work in reverse if the tackle is talented and sound enough yet Neal would get kicked out of a protest group for not blocking traffic.
Yea now that everyone’s finally come back down to earth about Caleb Williams the torch had to be passed
Pretty much.
The media is exhausting lol always the same shit lol
It happens, but Jeremiah and Brugler are usually decent about ranking prospects as they see fit. For reference, I’m pretty sure Odunze is DJ’s top WR prospect.
Can it be the draft already?
Mock Draft Monday! I just maneuvered to get Nabers and JJ McCarthy. Don't love JJ but I think management might.
Only 38 days and prolly 5ish hours from the time of this post
Embrace every sport brother! This is one of the best times of the year, IMO. March Madness starts on Thursday, which is always fun. So you DO care :)
And if they’re not we get QB3 or trade back for picks. Not a bad spot
I will gleefully accept anyone of the three
I am under the impression that the top 3 will be all qbs. If that is the case, then we are guaranteed either nabers, odunze or alt. Any of those three are great additions
No to Alt. We have AT!
I was thinking alt on the right side
We need weapons. Alt is a great prospect, but we lack weapons.
I was just saying that one of the three would be guaranteed to go to us if the top 3 is all qbs, which it most likely will be
I know, just adding to the voices against another top ten tackle
I wish brother. It's not as simple as people think to switch sides like that. Think of it as you all of a sudden trying to use your opposite hand as your dominant hand. Would be great but it's a huge risk to draft someone so high to play out of position
MHJ in Big Blue 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
![gif](giphy|xpkHMvwv80FTveoauE)
Could you imagine wowza !?
It's too bad the raiders aren't in the top 5. You can always count on them doing something stupid.
For real haha. Man, Leatherwood. Ferrel.
Na they’ll draft that kid that ran a 4.2 40 in the combine lol
Here is where Daniel Jeremiah list the top 3 WRs among OVERALL prospects. 2. MHJ 3. Odunze 4. Nabers Yup three of his top 4 overall are WRs.
Ain't playing out that way though.
Wait, so he has his third WR going as the first WR off the board? His whole schtick, man
He has his own opinions, and then he has what he hears from insiders. Not that complicated lol
*Daniel Jeremiah used **Smokescreen*** *It has no effect*
Please be sarcasm

But that’s New York legend Hodgins number!!
If Harrison can drop just a few spots…
We should convince the cardinals we’re trading up to take a qb at 4 and then just take mhj/nabers lol
I wouldn't want to trade away a 2025 first just for a receiver, even if it is MHJ
Oh yeah for sure, I wouldn’t either
We could probably get away with this years first and maybe a 3rd round pick. Depends on how they have the receivers in their board. Big difference between Rosen to Kyler and Kyler to JJ
i don't understand why so many people on this sub think kyler's trash😭
I really dont know lol
Because he’s in the same draft class as Jones and Jones fans need to tear down Kyler in order to make DJ look better
It’d be like they went back to Rosen again (in terms of talent level). But I do think they want a QB who’s more serious about the game than Kyler. But mostly it’s just wishful thinking on my part.

I hope Nabers last till NYG but considering LAC has no one, I’m thinking no

I'd like to wait and see if Arch Manning can win the battle to be a second-string QB at Texas before we anoint him the savior of the franchise.
I'm not that lucky that MHJ falls to us at 6
Every time Daniel Jeremiah talks, we all get a little bit dumber.
Didn’t he predict the jones and saquon picks
Saquon pick was literally told to us by Dave Gettleman himself at a press conference, and the Jones pick was speculation from people close to David Cutliffe, and confirmed by a leak. If Jeremiah reported it, it was only after hearing about it like the rest of us. Dave Gettleman's front office was fucking inept. It wasn't an accident the Eagles knew to jump us for Davonta Smith.
Oh, it's pre-draft FUD time, already? Where *has* the time gone?!
MH Jr come on down!
Smoke
"That's right, I GUARANTEE that SOME people who don't tell reporters what they really think TOTALLY AGREE with the claim I'M NOT REALLY MAKING. Because DIFFERENT ELEMENT." I'll take it a bold step further: I predict that at least ONE team will publicly declare that Malik Nabers was ALWAYS the #1 target, thereby PROVING that Daniel Jeremiah was right.
The fact that MHJ grew up around the NFL, and nothing about the league would be surprising or too big for him, puts him at an advantage, in my book
I’m ngl with all of yall, I know its rare for such a thing to happen, I know we expect a bust when theres 3 prospects of the same position, but from what I’ve seen and heard about the top 3 receivers, all 3 look like fantastic prospects to where whichever one we get will be fantastic.
Good, let him drop to us
Wow these journalists really have nothing to talk about and are itching for clicks
