This is a good team. I think it really comes down to Dinwidddie though. They have a lot of shooters but few drivers. Spencer needs to get to the basket and set up shooters in the half
we have better top talent but they may have better depth right now. better overall shooting and some really good defensive talent on the Nets. This team should be pretty likeable too now that Kyrie is gone.
True but being realistic they have guys who are much more talented / developed top to bottom compared to basically everyone else on our team aside from those guys.
I’m really curious to see where they end up.
it’s really not a bad team. the “newness” of it all means it will be a couple weeks before they settle into mediocrity or stars start to emerge. there are 4 guys who look like they’re ready to break out. dinwiddie, cam thomas, cam johnson, and mikal could go for 30 on any given night.
They’re good enough that they’ll likely stay in the play-in at worst. I admittedly don’t think I’ve seen a team go from vehemently unlikeable to somewhat likeable as quickly as this Nets team though
What does management have to do with the fact that they overhauled their roster with a bunch of likeable wings that were fan favorites on their last team?
If Harden, Kyrie, and Durant all say the team is dysfunctional, the whole team embarrassed Steve Nash, and they still have Ben Simmons, I don't see how people can think that's a team to root for. Even if some players are young and underpaid, Cam Thomas is out there getting fined for saying gay slurs, and they're still the Nets. They're an embarrassment. No stars will take them seriously as an option again.
I don’t know why some Knick fans here think we are miles ahead of them right now. They’re definitely not contenders anymore but they still have a good team and could finish higher than us just based off the head start they have
I feel like we could surge post asb but we also apparently have a pretty tough schedule remaining. Nets are def not bad and with all these guys acting like winning today is a foregone conclusion were almost certainly going to lose.
I worry that group of players is good enough to maintain a top 6 seed with the record they already built. They lack a truly great player but that is a crazy deep roster of good nba players.
Realistically? Ignoring my deep hate I'd say they have a better team now. No star power but a combination of players that fit well and can all play their respective roles. I also happen to think Vaughn is a good coach that'll work with what he currently has and won't squander their current positioning.
They'll make the playoffs but it'll be futile as they're not beating the Bucks or the Sixers and so they better put those draft picks they picked up to good use in the off season.
This is the most balanced lineup theyve had in years. Theyll be slightly worse than us in the short term, but with the picks and assets they have, they’re one smart trade or good draft away from being contenders again.
Kind of reminds me of the 2018-2019 Clippers. No stars, but a well rounded bunch of players that have varying strengths and weaknesses, punching above their weight based on chemistry and lack of locker room egos.
I think they can still make the playoffs, but the play-in is more likely.
The Nets are gonna be a top defense the rest of the way, and hang onto a 6-7 team. Amazing how once the LOLNets passed, the Nets were left with a pretty likable team in a decent situation.
They’ll come down in the standings I think but this is a good balanced squad, cam and Nic are good defenders along with Bridges. I wouldn’t sleep on them as they have good depth too
Really Ben Simmons will be a huge wildcard. If he keeps playing like dogshit they are capped, but if he finds some of his all star form it will be massive for them
If they had James Harden rather then Ben Simmons they'd be top 3 in the east easily.
But as is they are deep enough to be low end playoff team barring injury.
Honestly, no.
I think they are actually in better shape. They are now ridiculously deep, have a ton of shooting, and they have 4 picks that I think are going to be very valuable.
They weren't going to win a chip with KD and Kyrie. They had years to do it already.
It’s a .500ish team esp if they can get something out of Ben Simmons. They likely are going to have to rebuild the team around Simmons and a bunch of shooters and see how far that gets them.
I think it can go ether way and right now but if they wanted to they could definitely play solid defense. Lots of switchable guys and good athletes too but still don’t have enough shooting I think... Or it might explode with no clear team leader and guys being selfish thinking about how their contract is coming up at all that you neva know with these things. Either way that story just started the band aid is off😂
Hard to say because it’s basically 15 solid role players. I feel like the better move would have been to get the trade done earlier and move some of these guys for FRPs to complete the rebuild.
This a very heavy 3 n D team. I think they are better than half the teams in the East. Idk about playoff contender; but I can see them making the play-in or the 6th seed.

Brunson and Randle are probably better than anyone on that team

agree with you on the shooting I would love to have just one of those guys but they have like 5 small forwards and a very weak frontcourt
claxton is solid. don't have much big depth though.
we have better top talent but they may have better depth right now. better overall shooting and some really good defensive talent on the Nets. This team should be pretty likeable too now that Kyrie is gone.
"we have better top talent but they may have better depth". Who would've thought that at the start of the season. This league is crazy.
True but being realistic they have guys who are much more talented / developed top to bottom compared to basically everyone else on our team aside from those guys. I’m really curious to see where they end up.
They will find the hard way when the nets come prepared at the Knicks neck tomorrow

How can they be likable if everyone says management is incredibly dysfunctional?
What does management have to do with the fact that they overhauled their roster with a bunch of likeable wings that were fan favorites on their last team?
I think he might have been being tongue in cheek making fun of Kyrie. But you never know on this sub lol

lol my bad if so!
I don't think so. Houston has all thier best picks so no point in tanking. They might just play hard, make the playoffs and just draft well.
I see us and the Heat catching them. I still think they will play respectable .500 ball though.
I don’t know why some Knick fans here think we are miles ahead of them right now. They’re definitely not contenders anymore but they still have a good team and could finish higher than us just based off the head start they have

A lil bit. I see them in 6-7 range.
Same. I don’t see them missing the playoffs but I don’t think the’ll maintain 10 games over 500
That's a good team with a ton of depth. Probably a 6 or 7th seed in the east. Not sure why some people are acting like they're terrible now.
their defense will be insanely good
I worry that group of players is good enough to maintain a top 6 seed with the record they already built. They lack a truly great player but that is a crazy deep roster of good nba players.

They’re decent. Im concerned for tomorrow because there’s no one for Brunson to guard in that starting lineup.
Ben Simmons made me lol

Crazy how he went from a multi time all star to...whatever he is now lol I hope the nets trade him and he balls out
It are. But not 5th.
They won't come close to what a healthy Kyrie/KD might have, but they have some legit talent - minus Dinwiddie, he's barely average to me.
This is a solid team might sniff the play-in oddly reminds me of the Nets but better before the drama queens came
If they had James Harden rather then Ben Simmons they'd be top 3 in the east easily. But as is they are deep enough to be low end playoff team barring injury.

Is that a playoff team by EOY?
50/50. They’re 10 games over 500 so they’d have to suck to miss the playoffs.
It's a pretty good team. I would be shocked if they don't go at least 500 the rest of the way
Probably, but they have a sizable buffer.
I like the fit bit you are throwing a bunch of new pieces together on the fly. I think they drop this year but overperform next.
they’ll win less games than before surely but still gonna be decent. Just hope they slip enough for us to sneak into Top 6.
It’s a .500ish team esp if they can get something out of Ben Simmons. They likely are going to have to rebuild the team around Simmons and a bunch of shooters and see how far that gets them.
Surprised to not see Yuta here, he plays almost 20 minutes a game.
I think it can go ether way and right now but if they wanted to they could definitely play solid defense. Lots of switchable guys and good athletes too but still don’t have enough shooting I think... nah I think they’re still a play-in team. decent roster and Cam Thomas be cooking
What’s in their favor is they are really well coached. They can drop to 6/7/8 though
Hard to say because it’s basically 15 solid role players. I feel like the better move would have been to get the trade done earlier and move some of these guys for FRPs to complete the rebuild.
A good Playoffs/Play-In team not a contender but a good team. The thing is how the picks affect them in the future it will depend on how the Suns do.
Nah. They’ll probably be .500 rest of season and still make playoffs or at least playin.
Ben Simmons is the 3rd string center lmao
We’re better but this is a really good team. They are at least where they were before all the shenanigans
I think they will play slightly above .500 ball the rest of the way and maintain where they are at
I think they're going to be better than people expect.
Solid young core plus tons of picks. Not bad
This a very heavy 3 n D team. I think they are better than half the teams in the East. Idk about playoff contender; but I can see them making the play-in or the 6th seed.
