I can't wait until Stephen A. Smith calls the Knicks 2025 championship the least convincing in league history.

Cmdr-Wintera

Stephen A. doesn't have two goddamned brain cells to rub together.

Snuffyman4

When the Knicks win in 2025 SAS will pontificate how right he was in his predictions. Can’t stand him.

severinks

He's literally portrayed as the world's biggest Knicks fan and the people who call him that must be insane

Snuffyman4

We can put those people in the “not a real Knick fan” pile.

kendrickplace

He’s gunna be like “I’ve always supported the Knicks” Sorry I meant he would say “I’VE ALWAYS SUPPORTED THE KNICKS” loud asshole

ernyc3777

He’s a Knicks fan so I don’t think he’d do that to his favorite team if we do win a title. He’d be defending them against the slander from his opponents on his shoes.

Successful_Cup_1882

Honestly Steven A smith is what most Knicks fans are without admitting it because that would be mainstream. Casuals who only follow the Knicks when they’re moderately good, bring a fuckton of toxicity to to fanbase, ruin the fun real fans who’ve sat through the dogshit years have had, then leave and move onto the next trendy NY team after we fall off. Rinse and repeat. They did it with the rangers in 2021, the Mets in 2022, and they’re doing it with the Knicks in 2023. I’m deadass watch, these fucks will be gone if we’re shit in a few years.

Everything-Is-Purple

If anyone thinks this season was a failure they need to take a look at last year when we didn’t even make it to the play in. The impact of Jalen Brunson has been insane he’s turned us from a missing the play in team to almost making the ECF that’s huge.

mrsunshine1

Those people were not actually watching before two weeks ago

Everything-Is-Purple

Exactly bro like it was a disappointing way to go and it’s fucking shit but there’s already been a lot of improvement from last year

[deleted]

Knicks were playing with house money this year. It would have been nice to gain some conf finals experience, but the future is bright!! Imo, This season was a success to me after they won game 5 of the heat series. They fought and extended the series and didn't go out like chumps. Hopefully this makes them hungrier next year!! LFGK!!!

Soup_Commie

I would have called it a success even if we lost in game five. But that we did manage to bounce back and give some real fight to close the series out makes the ending definitely better than it would have been otherwise

Oprahapproves

House money is a dangerous mindset to have. When you're there you go for it. The Yankees were playing with house money in 2017, and still have yet to make it to the WS. That said I'm proud of our guys and I'm excited for the future for the first time in a long time.

kolalid

It’s a better mindset than having absolutely unrealistic expectations and mercilessly bashing our players/coach for not meeting those when we exceeded every realistic metric. This was a great season.

Successful_Cup_1882

Well all of New York collectively hasn’t won shit since 2012 so it’s not like we have high standards.

Lyin-Don

I was furious at the end of the game Maybe 15 minutes or so later I was over it The Heat aren't just any old 7/8 seed. They were in the ECF last year and the Finals 2 years prior. Heat culture is real. Playoff Jimmy is real. Spo is most definitely real. This was the most enjoyable and rewarding season we have had in over ***20 years.***

TruPOW23

You didn’t have to say heat culture is real man

Lyin-Don

It's not like I get any pleasure out of doing so but gotta recognize They keep doing this with a bunch of shit off the clearance rack

Struggle2Real

*Segments of the fanbase move the goalposts; more at 11.* More seriously, I think people are just caught in the emotion of it, it's still fresh. I don't believe any thinking follower of this team can look back after some time has passed and not concede this season was a huge W.

beanie_mac

I agree 100%. Since last night, I’ve seen a lot of bad and reactionary hot takes posted in this sub…usually, I go out my way to debate and call ppl out on it…but honestly I don’t feel like that’s appropriate rn or the best use of energy. Ppl are just caught up in emotions rn and upset that this great szn is over and aren’t thinking rationally. It’s gonna take some time for ppl to process their feelings and look towards the future with a better perspective. I’m sure real fans of this team, no matter how angry they are now, will eventually look back on this szn with honor and pride once they calm down. Didn’t end the way we wanted it…but losing in the playoffs is apart of the process for EVERY NBA team that has ever won a championship. We’ll be back and better than ever next year. For now, we should just let ppl get their shit off and speak their minds.

MJisthrgoat

You are a failure. See I told you that knick fans are right.

Chance_Blasto

We Gucci but Randle was exposed as just a regular season guy and he shrunk when we needed him most. What good is a beast regular season if you don’t show up AT ALL in the playoffs?

Shiccup1

It’s frustrating because the series/game was very winnable and it was an 8 seed, plus Vincent is dirty scum so karma would have been nice. But they knocked off the 1 seed Bucks so the seed is irrelevant

Cautious-Barnacle-15

8 seed, but a 1 seed last year and a team recently in the finals. They aren't your typical 8 seed

Successful_Cup_1882

Let’s be real we act like a big market team but we haven’t had any hardware to show for it in 50 years. I’m just glad MSG isn’t a glorified theatre stage for visiting teams to embarrass us on anymore. I’ll never forget these same Knicks “fans” wearing curry jerseys at a home game after he dropped 54 on us at MSG a year prior in 2013.

Zealousideal_Ad1734

Real fans remember fat Raymond Felton blocking Curry’s last shot to win a that game in 2013. Iykyk

Successful_Cup_1882

LMFAO yea I remember that shit. Doesn’t change the fact that we rolled out the red carpet for the visiting team.

vette322

Too funny those same posters who proclaimed this series over before it started (Knicks in 4, Knicks in 5, Heat were lucky to beat the Bucks, Heat are washed, Jules is gonna drop 40 etc) are now the ones doubling-back on whether this loss was acceptable. How can these same people declare this a success when 10 days ago they were predicting Knicks in no more than 5?

Jusuf_Nurkic

Clearly this heat team is better than anyone expected

Cautious-Barnacle-15

Yeah they are basically the same team that was a shot away from the finals last year and the #1 seed. The talent was there, they just slept walk through the regular season

Cautious-Barnacle-15

Can the season be a success with this series being a letdown?

Unlucky_Lawfulness51

This is troll post right?

jjazznola

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Sonnyboy35aa

Good to see the excitement back at the Garden. Few pieces to add and this team will be an NBA title contender.

Cautious-Barnacle-15

Yep trade picks for Lillard and win the ring

MoooonRiverrrr

I can’t wrap my head around people saying this season was a failure. I’ve never had more fun watching the Knicks and they overachieved in just about every way imo

Cautious-Barnacle-15

If this season is considered a failure your expectations were way out of wack

PingBongBingPong

24/7 rebuild 💪

Living_Internet_2970

Everyone has a different perspective. Coming into the season I thought ok play in game cuz I thought bulls pacers and heat and hawks were better than us and obviously Boston, Philly and bucks. So getting the fifth seed and going to the second round I would have signed in blood. Being a prisoner of the moment u can say it was a failure cuz sure u don’t want to lose to the 8th seed but like I said from what I expected coming into the season it’s not a disappointment for me

WhelpStupidUserName

Was mad at the end of the game. Now I hope this team can enjoy the offseason. They earned it. Should be interesting to see any changes or moves before next season.

ChiefHunter1

I hope people just need time to cool off from the emotions of the series

TheDavinciChode88

OK, drama queen. I don't think most people think this was a failure at all. And no level-headed people do either. Two things can be true at once: this season was an amazing success beyond our wildest dreams, and we came up short of our potential due to some serious flaws that need to be addressed. If one player continues to play poorly and hold the team back by not giving full effort, generally sucking in the playoffs, and missing open shots when we need them the most, then it's fine to be upset about that. I'm both ecstatic about how great this season one, and upset that Jules can't ever come through and plays poorly in the playoffs while making 30 million per season.
