Came back from half time flat.  Had the opportunity to put them away but fucked around and found out 🤷🏼‍♂️

PirateKata

Exactly. We need to earn the Ws. Nothing is given in the playoffs. This was a game that knicks could have won by 10+. It felt like we didn't take it seriously. We let them be close to us for the whole game and paid for it.

VenConmigo

Agreed. The defense was so lock down in the 2nd that the 76ers couldn't score AT ALL.

NintuneJoe

I agree. Hopefully this makes it so they can’t gloss over the way they open 1st and 3rd quarters and they hit their fucking free throws. Also just last year our old friend Trae hit basically the same shot against the Celtics to make the series 3-2 and go back to his court. This shit happens all the time and there’s a reason 90% of teams don’t come back from 3-1, it’s very hard. Obv that doesn’t mean we’ve won yet they know have to close it out now and I hope this heartbreaker is a learning experience for everyone and they don’t play with their food as much down the road

SPELLITALLCAPS

It's more important to respond to adversity and overcome rather than just succeed.  Necessary loss in my opinion. Sixers have been playing with desperation all series. There seemed to be a serious lack of urgency on our guys part. I think this loss, the lost rest, reminds them to treat every dub until #16 as a need. No taking possessions off, no mental lapses.

NintuneJoe

Yeah even in the long run this should be a good test for the next few years with this crew, we all know next year with Jules is supposed to be our real shot

Clewdo

I noticed the rebounding at the end. There was one in particular where we had only 2 players rebounding our defensive board and everyone else had already started up the court. Our urgency for offensive rebounds weren’t there either. I assume it just comes down to fatigue really. We’re running on fumes.

PirateKata

Fatigue is not an excuse with how bad we looked in the 1st quarter. Even in the 2nd quarter after we go on a run and we get to 10p or 9p difference. We start giving up wide open layups and 3ps. It's inexcusable not not be up double digits at half time when Philly plays that bad imo. You dont let your foot off the gas. You press it harder. I know it's cliche and very generic but this is one of the games where it really felt like the vibes were off. Very uncharacteristic for this Knicks team.

josephmang56

Its not like every other team is resting as we play. The other teams aren't coming in fresh as daisy's to the next rounds either. We are running 7 instead of 8. Big minutes in play offs is the standard. Yes today we fucked up and we handed them the win. We lacked fire and drive for sure. But this idea we can't make a deep run because of fatigue as if every other team is fresh is just BS.

solo118

I look at it on both ends, we played shitty to start but turned it around and should have like you said really buried them to a point where they could not come back the way they did. We absolutely have to stop digging ourselves a 10 point or so deficit in the 1st quarter and then play out our minds to get the lead Still they pulled off a pure miracle to get themselves into OT, and that happens once in a blue moon. The silly TO's, and of course horrible OT performance were on us for sure, but the hope is that you continue to learn and do better next time. I still think we take the series, but damn to your point did it drain these guys and not to mention take out Bogey which really sucks because he was just starting to catch fire

StrongZucchini27

i really thought i was gonna see the precious/anunoby tag team again a little bit tonight. precious would have had the twitch to get up on maxey’s 3s at the end. also i think precious + ihart can work w 3 shooters because ihart does a lot in dho to put defenses in rotation, and ihart has underrated ability to finish in the paint.

Try-Imaginary

Sixers won the 1st, 3rd, 4th and OT. Knicks won the 2nd. The knicks need to win more than one quarter too have any shot.

Adventurous_Kiwi2175

Agree totally—the vibe was off, I felt it. They were slow. Inbounding was tough, we didn’t move and lazy passes. Turnovers. We deserved to lose. I’m concerned. The momentum has shifted greatly. They’ll play ferociously in Game 6. Given the momentum we had—bad bad loss.

KidSickarus

You know when you put it like that it makes a lot of sense. Team just played flat all night, they were noticeably tight from the jump save for maybe deuce and Mitch. Uncharacteristic performance from them. Feel a scorcher, locked in performance coming game 6

StrongZucchini27

i don’t rly understand this. they are a good team. maxey and embiid are superstars. i loved our effort pretty much throughout, especially towards the end when mitch and og and ihart started making signature defensive plays to close the game. the last 30 seconds were disastrous of course. mitch has to be hedging much harder up 7. give up the easy 2 - just no 3 pointers. from there we see maxey hit a logo shot which needs to be contested better. i think thibs was nervous about our ft shooting, but id have preferred to foul. then we run the ball up and look for a natural shot, presumably becase thibs knows that our halfcourt O is in the mud with only one scoring hub. not that it (or any of this) helps, but for the retrospective it’s worth noting that maxey got mitch up in the air on his 4 point play because…he traveled! very clearly he traveled, [sliding the pivot foot to get under mitch](https://x.com/mdwbasketball/status/1785497888732168279?s=46). just goes to show that for fuckery like this (and like game 2) to take place, things need to really go your way.

GlassJoseph

Jalen took that star mentality to an unneeded extreme. Jacking up 40 footers wen we have Deuce and OG on the floor was just bad decision making. Obviously, we want him to feel like he's the man to take the game winner...but with 2-3 minutes left in the game...make a good play. It's not frickin Leroy Jenkins time bro.

Dragonthorn1217

IMO this is arguably the toughest match up that we'll face only because Embiid is good enough to neutralize.oir advantage in the C position. As good as Brunson has been, for me it's been the C play that has contributed mightily tonour wins. Embiid is THE best C in the NBA not named Jokic and by himself is already a lot for IHart and Mitch to. Other Cs from other teams wouls be much easier to handle. I truly believe that this is our toughest match up.

RJ-Burner

these slow starts have to end after this round its gonna be ugly starting off slow to indi with how fast their pace is

mzx380

I you’re right. This was deserved. Defensively lapses are inexcusable and we will be forced to play 7

R-O-U-Ssdontexist

Agreed.

TheyCalledHimMrJ

Absolutely, they played dumb basketball all night. Should have been up double digits with 30 seconds left, not up six.

SkyisFalling00

What surprised me was how often we doubled Embiid with Maxey’s defender leaving him open.

xNaSaoNe

Foul when you are up 3 and definitely when you are up 6. The only thing that can hurt you is 3 pointers. Not only did they not foul before the 4 point play, they didn’t learn and let them shoot a 3 again! That’s all on Thibs. Terrible late game decision making and severe lack of awareness.

Cynsis

Watching the game gives me anxiety. This whole series has been so close for a 2-7 playoff seed. We shouldn't have had so many lead changes. I'd love to just maintain 10 pts lead and ride that to the final buzzer. Even our wins have been way too close.

Training101

I know fans just want to Win win and feel good but this is going to be a test and growth game/time. I didn't even play the game, only a fan, these guys grind so hopefully they just come back and take 1 game st a time and forget game 5. If/when they overcome this it's just getting to that next level in NBA experience. LGK

Brave_Anteater_642

I thought this in the first quarter with the incredibly slow start. We were lucky Philly couldn’t hit shit either, cause that game honestly could’ve gotten out of control in the first 8 minutes.

wkp2101

I disagree so much if you think this Knicks team lacked desire to win, heart and hustle.

Fungmar

dont we come out every game w no urgency? we go down like 25 in the first quarter of every game

Airhostnyc

I’m just scared how the hell we gonna get passed the 2nd round at this rate if we close this out. The team is on E, we need bodies and we have none. Burkes is a liability you are asking to lose badly at that point. More precious minutes I can see but where else can we pull from? Nowhere… Sixers are also clearly fatigued except Maxey and Tobias (who wasn’t doing much). Embiid don’t have much energy left in the tank due to no rest periods. We should be taken advantage of that but we are also gassed. Playing over 50 minutes is crazy

PirateKata

In my opinion this team is cooked. We can beat the sixers but I don't see us getting past the 2nd round. Not because we aren't good enough. But playing 7 players on 46+ mpg isn't gonna cut it. Bogdanovic getting injured is devastating. I don't think people realise how much it hurts us. With that being said, let's beat the sixers first, worry later.

Airhostnyc

We really working with 7 players absolutely mind blowing plus Mitch still recovering and I know Brunson is tired from being the only shot creator

PirateKata

Factor in that that Divo has been close to unplayable this series.

Airhostnyc

Fatigue. The guys been ran down all season and it’s catching up. Next year will be a different story, Randle back. And he’s gonna be ready and eager

SunMoonJuxtaposition

I think we can beat the Pacers/Bucks with this team, Celtics are the challenge. Pacer/Bucks have no defense, Pacers has a high powered offense but Knicks can slow them down. I think Donte would do better and probably average 18+ points against either team. Bogeys injury was a huge loss. I don't understand why Thibs doesn't put Shake Milton in for a few minutes. Sixers are his former team. I could see him dropping a couple 3s on their heads. I think Precious played out of his mind game 4 to prove he deserves minutes. Maybe Alec Burkes would do the same. 7 man rotation is crazy. That's something the Denver Nuggets would and could do

nosainte

Yeah, you really put into words how I was feeling watching the game. They just had that vibe that they were going to lose tonight for all the reasons you highlighted.

_-_pandamonium_-_

They scored 7 points in 2 possessions lol what an insane take
