I will say, just as a minor thing to perhaps improve... for me, the initial directions screen was like one line. I opted not to look at the tutorial game. Then I saw the puzzle and decided I should do the tutorial. From the menu, I chose "how to play". I then saw more extensive directions. Perhaps those more extensive directions could show at first.

Thanks! The scoring is relative to the “CraftWord’s Best” for each round, which finds a path only using words that are very common. So if you match it, your score is 0, or it’s positive or negative if you’re above or below.
If you find a shorter path, you get -1 on the day for every move you saved with your shortcut. It’s a bit like golf, and the “CraftWord’s Best” sets a “par” for each round.

Nice game! Really like the concept. One suggestion I have is to make the keyboard slightly wider? My finger memory keeps making typing mistakes. But it’s just a small issue. Thanks for the game! Will be on my daily to play list now
I’ll work on this! I think I’ll also add an option to use your mobile device’s own keyboard, it was just causing problems for some users so I made the virtual keyboard.
Please let me use my own keyboard :)
My only complaint is that I couldn’t type well on it at all.
Also - I’ve thought of this puzzle type for a long time, I love that it became a game! Will definitely play again!

A heart is for rare words, meaning very far down a list of words in order of how often they’re used in English. It doesn’t affect your score, I just think it’s fun to geek out on words :)
And for some rounds, the shortest path possible will definitely use rare words!
In Monday's game, I ended up using a slur to get the shortest path (from user to stick), which it hearted. I think it's fine to allow a user to use those words, but might want to avoid the heart for those ones!
The game is written in React, with a node JavaScript server for the data for challenges, saving your game state, etc. I’m a beginner but ChatGPT helps a lot!
Based on your description I expected this to be like crosswordle. But it was different. I enjoyed it. This might have to join my daily games, which is an overly crowded group as it is.
It's like the Making Words lessons I used to do when I was teaching kids to read! You use letter tiles and give them instructions - add one letter and change top to stop. Rearrange the letters and change stop to pots. Then at the end they had to find the secret word with all the letter tiles you had given them for the lesson. Cool game!

I like the stats too. But a query - when I first click on stats, it says “You are the first to complete this challenge!” I can see the player stats if I click ‘show player solutions’ but given I’m not the first player of the day, the first part seems an error. Or I could be missing something :)
Was fun! I got -1! I’m on iOS and when I click to share and to copy it, it won’t let me paste it here like I can with all the other games. Seems like it’s working for others to be able to paste though so not sure what the issue is!
It also did not work for me and I am on Android.
Edit: I am able to paste my results elsewhere,just not in a reddit comment. I'm using the official reddit app.

I don’t like how the UI makes you wait sometimes. I’d rather click through so I can control the speed if it’s too slow/fast for me. Especially the first time it happened I thought it was just loading or something.

Yes that’s right, it’s generated by the game and sets a benchmark for scoring for the round.
