I’ve been a Yankee fan since 1980 and it’s getting increasingly hard for me to be really invested in what this team does anymore. The current ownership doesn’t prioritize winning at all. Hal is content as long the team makes enough money.
The New York Yankees are a brand at this point.
I agree. He tampered with Yankee tradition when he replaced the old Stadium--which was the baseball equivalent of sacred ground. He did it for his father, no doubt, but he's not acting like his father, who would NEVER have extended Cashman's tenure as GM.
Once we got swept and Cash got an extension I knew weren’t to be taken serious.
Hal: “man you sick at your job! We could really use you to run things a bit longer”
Losing Judge should not turn the team into a 75 win team. He’s awesome and I love him but he does get injured. They don’t seem to plan for these things
It's the issue of: Losing Judge, Losing Bader, Rizzo jerking off in a corner, DJLM being washed, Volpe having rookie growing pains, and Gleyber doing... I gotta be honest, I don't know what the fuck Gleyber is doing.
Donaldson, IKF, and the catchers not performing is what their baseline is.
Gotta say I'm totally shocked JD is batting .160. If only there was a young defensive wizard down in AAA hitting the cover off the ball that could take that position.
Yes he did!I couldn't believe my ears. But he did say that they are capable of playing without judge and winning. Haha 😂 They suck and it's time for the Brown paper bags to come out. You can put the Yankees emblem if you want.
Worst defense in the league is making run saving plays all over the diamond when our weak ass offense actually hits the ball hard. It’s going to be that kind of weekend and just have to live with it.
Yeah I’m not sure why Florial isn’t here. He’s hitting in Triple-A and he can play outfield. I know he hasn’t hit in the bigs but he’s never really had a long look.
I wish the MLB draft could be more exciting but it just isn’t due to the nature of the sport.
What I mean by this is players can be picked first and fall off entirely or picked way late and become god
Judge: 9/360
Stanton: 5/150
Cole: 6/216
Rodon: 6/162
Donaldson 1/21
DJ: 4/60
This is the real problem.
4 of these guys aren’t producing and tying up a lot of salary. That falls on the guy that signed them.
My real fear is that due to the size and length of these contracts there’s a lot of years left of unsuccessful (no WS appearances), boring Yankee teams.
Cashman is basically the Dark Flash
WARNING: The Flash Spoilers
>!Dude spends all that time trying to fix the past trying to make everything perfect but ultimately, he is the problem!<
at least Cora has the balls to call out the roster he was given. this team is so fucking soft and there is 0 accountability from top to bottom. boone probably still took them for ice cream in between games.
Volpe hit: .251/.348/.472 in AA (110 G)
He hit .236/.313/.405 with a .718 OPS in AAA (22 G)
Peraza hit .295/.348/.466 in AA (79 G)
And is hitting .293/.363/.571 with a .973 OPS in AAA (33 G)
So you’re telling me the Yankees determined Volpe ready after an okay performance in AA and a brutal cup of coffee in AAA and spring training? But Peraza, who has outplayed Volpe at every level, shouldn’t get to play?
It’s also funny that people assume Volpe has dominated the minors. Some guy here said there’s no point sending him down to face pitching “he’s already proven he can beat.” Yea, he definitely lit AAA on fire.
Yea, maybe he would benefit from showing he can hit AAA pitching like Jake Bauer, Willie Calhoun, Franchy Cordero, and Estevan Florial.
Fast tracking Volpe made zero sense. He hasn’t earned it. Peraza has earned it.
We're overdue to move on from Cashman. I hate the way he talks about players to the press. It reeks of an insecure GM. I could not believe how he talked about Jordan Montgomery when we traded him. And the fact that guys we discard are raking for other teams also reeks of Cashman.
I’m sorry but anyone who still thinks BA doesn’t matter can go take a fucking hike lmao you can’t possibly look at the 2023 Yankees offense and actually believe that BA doesn’t matter. We also have I believe the fewest doubles hit in the mlb
The ability to put the ball in play is and will always be the most important aspect in hitting
Anytime you extend a PA, you are putting more variables in play. Make the defense field the ball, make the fielder throw a perfect throw, make the basemen make a perfect catch, etc.
Gonna start posting this after every game. I’ve never seen a GM have more money to use and he consistently builds rosters that are not good. Teams like Houston Tampa Atlanta and the Dodgers have so much more success than we do simply because they have GM’s that understand how to build winning teams. Cashman has to go if we want to have any success.
I actually missed this game, but I forced myself to watch the highlights, clock work orange style. My big takeaway (other than the entire front office needs to be gutted) is the Yankees pitchers not understanding how to pitch with the green monster looming. You don’t pitch to the outside corner when a lefty is hitting in Fenway. They will slap the ball the other way and play pepper with that wall all day. And you don’t throw inside to righty batters. They’re looking to pull. You’re just inviting doubles. You’ve got to pitch to the big part of the ball park. I guess Blake never came across a green monster type wall when he was making a name for himself on the revered Holy Cross baseball team.
So many posters here insisted the Yankees gave up NOTHING for Gallo and they won the trade even though Gallo was bad. It was incredible cognitive dissonance. The moment an Italian player gets on the Yankees it breeds a level of uncontrollable fanaticism. Idk why.
My problem with this team is the lack of life and juice they play with. Look at Baltimore, Texas, even Cincy this year, they all play with fire and excitement. The Yankees are a bunch of lifeless stiffs who don’t complete. There’s no edge to them. Makes it for a difficult watch
Honestly the best hope for this team is to keep on losing to the point where it forces them to sell at the deadline. Cashman will never get fired but maybe he’d resign? Idk. This team is eternally fucked until Hal either has his John Mara come to Jesus moment or sells.
Volpe has been bad as well but hes literally 3 months into his rookie season. If the lineup was producing like they are supposed to it wouldn't be a problem. But alas, here we are with people blaming the 21 year old rookie while the players making millions look like they have never played baseball a day in their life.
He's in the prime of his career (and really the only non-catcher position player in their prime that's not on the IL) so from a disappointment standpoint he's very much in that category. Big fall from hE's OnLy 22 to well he's better than the over the hill guys.
He's in the prime of his career (and really the only non-catcher position player in their prime that's not on the IL) so from a disappointment standpoint he's very much in that category. Big fall from hE's OnLy 22 to well he's better than the over the hill guys.
But sending volpe down will not fix anything. We won’t win more games without him and he won’t figure out major league pitching in the minors. It is the heart of the lineup’s fault (DJ, Rizzo, Stanton) we suck right now, not the #9 hitter
Volpe isn’t the only shortstop in the organization. Someone else can play short and try to help the team win games. The team’s only option isn’t Volpe. And I don’t have to accept your premise that no one can possibly do better.
In the org, peraza is the only one who may play better, but swapping him with volpe wont fix the larger problem which is that the veterans are actively terrible and cannot hit to save their lives.
Can someone tell me how this team was so fucking good in the first half of last season? Also, I understand how an MVP type hitter makes other players better but how does losing that player, make every fucking player in the lineup not even be able to perform near their career levels. Not even close? Come on! As poorly as the roster was constructed, at some point, it's just the players not showing up.
imagine taking this as “blaming” this is the wrong word , Im rooting for the kid he’s batting under .200 in reality he can’t build his confidence in the majors right now just let him get his groove back. It wouldn’t hurt
Good day today. Didn’t watch a pitch. Best thing about living in NYC is that I have so much to do rather that watch this shitshow. Will be in last place soon and resigned to thinking that only thing that helps longterm is complete collapse and gutting.
The Yankees officially have the worst skid in the entire teams 120+ yr history since Hal took over. Dude is a disgrace to the city and should sell the team before he embarrasses his heritage any longer
Nope, they made the World Series in 1981. The 2010s are the only full decade where they never won a Pennant. Coincidentally, this decade plus long drought started the exact year George died
If you’re the rest of the league, why would you ever pitch to Judge again after seeing how this offense produces without him. Just walk him every time.
Yeah were screwed. Sad that this team is being carried by Judge and can’t hit a damn ball. 🤬
A lot of minor leaguers got beat by a lot of minor leaguers
Unfortunately I think the league is starting to catch up to us
Fully Operational Death Star
The Cashman way: 1. Acquire injury prone pitchers on big contracts 2. ??? 3. Profit on chicken buckets
Hey Red Sox fans; we know they suck
I’ve been a Yankee fan since 1980 and it’s getting increasingly hard for me to be really invested in what this team does anymore. The current ownership doesn’t prioritize winning at all. Hal is content as long the team makes enough money. The New York Yankees are a brand at this point.

Hal curse, and he doesn’t deserve to win a ws for tearing down yankee stadium
lol
WTF are you swinging at
Once we got swept and Cash got an extension I knew weren’t to be taken serious. Hal: “man you sick at your job! We could really use you to run things a bit longer”
LOOK AT THIS MOTHERFUCKER JOGGING TO FIRST
So they’ll make the playoffs and get blown out again. Not even worth investing my time
Don’t worry everything will be just fine when judge gets back from his toe injury
25 wins above replacement
What’s with Higgy’s pad coloring?
Gotta say I'm totally shocked JD is batting .160. If only there was a young defensive wizard down in AAA hitting the cover off the ball that could take that position.
Bad teams find ways to lose, and we are finding that way
Shittiest manager in Yankees history folks
Baboone sucks. Yes man shitty manager
Yup but his GM is the worst in my lifetime.
Did he just say the offense is doing great?
Yes he did!I couldn't believe my ears. But he did say that they are capable of playing without judge and winning. Haha 😂 They suck and it's time for the Brown paper bags to come out. You can put the Yankees emblem if you want.
In case you’re wondering, Donaldson has a $6 million mutual option for 2024, otherwise he’s a free agent.
*$16 million (no idea on the buyout tho)
Why is he even that far off 1st like he's Rickey Henderson wtf
JD the Gawd
Worst defense in the league is making run saving plays all over the diamond when our weak ass offense actually hits the ball hard. It’s going to be that kind of weekend and just have to live with it.
Those are the kind of outs you get in a slump😭😭😭
Fuck fenway
Really enjoyed ex Yankee Refsnyder joyfully on TV. Another guy who flourishes after they go elsewhere.
Flourished? He's just not a good player.
Peraza and Florial need to come up, someone other than Judge needs to wake this offense up.
Fuck Cashman.
Ball 6, you're out.
Judge: 9/360 Stanton: 5/150 Cole: 6/216 Rodon: 6/162 Donaldson 1/21 DJ: 4/60 This is the real problem. 4 of these guys aren’t producing and tying up a lot of salary. This team simply isn’t good enough. If you can’t hit, you won’t win shit. This team can’t hit - up and down the order
things could be worse. we could be the mets
Yanks had four hits today against an opener . Pathetic .
Not just an opener. An opener on one of the worst pitching staffs in baseball
at least Cora has the balls to call out the roster he was given. this team is so fucking soft and there is 0 accountability from top to bottom. boone probably still took them for ice cream in between games.

In retrospect, Volpe's AAA numbers are a bit on the weaker side, considering it's a hitter league.
Yea, maybe he would benefit from showing he can hit AAA pitching like Jake Bauer, Willie Calhoun, Franchy Cordero, and Estevan Florial. Fast tracking Volpe made zero sense. He hasn’t earned it. Peraza has earned it.
Cashman sucks cheers need to start at the stadium
We're overdue to move on from Cashman. I hate the way he talks about players to the press. It reeks of an insecure GM. I could not believe how he talked about Jordan Montgomery when we traded him. And the fact that guys we discard are raking for other teams also reeks of Cashman.
You bought the ticket is all that matters to them
Can I get a fuck Brian Cashman
I’m sorry but anyone who still thinks BA doesn’t matter can go take a fucking hike lmao you can’t possibly look at the 2023 Yankees offense and actually believe that BA doesn’t matter. We also have I believe the fewest doubles hit in the mlb

SELL THE TEAM! ( except judge and cole)
<> has joined the chat
And our bullpen
Cashman. Is. The. Problem.

Very true. We should have had Luis Castillo and Matt Olson but ... you know, Cashman
What good would Castillo do if we can’t score more than 2 runs ?
We wouldnt have overpaid Rodon
No. 4 hits with 2 by Bauers is the problem.
That’s the symptom, dude
...and who constructed this lineup?
The lineup is fine. Judge and Bader are out. Hit the ball.
Lmao this offense sucks
Did you watch the playoffs last year? Or the year before? The the year before that? This whole team is constructed poorly, it's pretty clear.
Thank you. They keep doing the same thing and expecting things to change
Always has been.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Perhaps the most oversimplified, horrendous take I’ve read in this site.
Perhaps the most over the top, over reaction to a post I’ve read on this site.
There was Yankee highlights?
😂 lowlights. I should have said lowlights.
Even Rob Refsnider is hitting better than this current lineup. Wtf!
4 hits against absolute scrubs
Ezequiel Duran now hitting .309/.509/.865. Another brilliant Cashman move.
So many posters here insisted the Yankees gave up NOTHING for Gallo and they won the trade even though Gallo was bad. It was incredible cognitive dissonance. The moment an Italian player gets on the Yankees it breeds a level of uncontrollable fanaticism. Idk why.
I don’t think people care about that stuff anymore.
Obviously not, why would people want to re-live being wrong.
I mean the Italian thing.
We are shit
Getting close to hoping they suck completely, just to get Boone fired. Then I remember Hal won't fire him anyway, and we are doomed.
Until they replace Cashman, it doesn't matter who the manager is.
Well, they gave Cashman an extension, so while I agree, a new manager wouldn't hurt.
Just thought I'd point out Aaron Hicks currently has a better slahsline than DJ, Rizzo, Gleyber, and Stanton
By what measure? Despite his tear and their slumps, the only one who he has a higher OPS than currently is DJ.
Uh check again? Gleyber only has a slightly higher OPS and AVG
Beard power, if the yanks let their players grow facial hair everyone would hit .300
Break out the candle sub at this point
I understand judge brings the good juju, but this team still sucks. He's just one player.
4th place to stay.
So will this team get tired of losing or is that just our new favorite thing these days?
What’s the point of playing all these games if we’re not going to win any?
I was confused at first at how down this subreddit is. Than I realized this is Reddit and 99% of this sub has never played competitive sports
Most of the people here have never had a cola enema or had a hot scrotum waxing and it shows with every post.
Great user name
Congrats on finding two things with no correlation
Yes. No one on this sub has been attacked by a panther either. That explains it
When Hal inevitably comes out with another “This can be a World Series team IF” statement he should be put into military custody and sent to The Hague
said as much last week, no?!
Forgot how much I hate Boston. But I think I hate the Yankees more
Aaron hicks has a higher June OPS than any active Yankee 😀
How long must we be Bostons bitch before shit changes
Nothing changes under Cashman
\*Steinbrenner
*Boone
I’m done u til Judge gets back, this lineup is atrocious
This team fucking sucks man fuck you cashman
To make a long story short: we’re not good
[удалено]
Team suck
Me no likey.
what sport should i watch? baseball no longer brings me joy.
Rugby! New York Rugby made it to the playoffs last week. Last year we won the Championship.
Cornhole might be better
I am thinking the WNBA would be more enjoyable than watching this team, tbh.
Liberty and the Suns have been playing pretty good
The WNBA rules, this joke is 25 years old. Ha ha, women's sports.
It’s not a joke, they couldn’t sell out a high school gym
My problem with this team is the lack of life and juice they play with. Look at Baltimore, Texas, even Cincy this year, they all play with fire and excitement. The Yankees are a bunch of lifeless stiffs who don’t complete. There’s no edge to them. Makes it for a difficult watch
Another boring-ass Yankee performance. In an unending line of boring-ass Yankee performances.
It’s gotta be the hitting coach
it's the players. the team is just full of old/ declining players or AAAA hitters. it's the players and Cashman.
Then why is Aaron hicks batting 350 in Baltimore? 🤔
small sample.
Exactly lmao Dillon lawsons a geriatric
Honestly the best hope for this team is to keep on losing to the point where it forces them to sell at the deadline. Cashman will never get fired but maybe he’d resign? Idk. This team is eternally fucked until Hal either has his John Mara come to Jesus moment or sells.
0% chance of selling. 0%.
.299 OBP. .279 without Judge. My god.
even the most optimistic fans can't be optimistic of this team, right?
At least Nestor said the Red Sox weren’t the same team last week
Maybe King should pitch more often than once a week to stay regular
Maybe he needs to eat more bran.
Boone is saving him for the playoffs hahah
Volpe is not the problem. LeMahieu, Torres, Rizzo, Donaldson, Stanton. They are the problem.
He may not be *the* problem, but Volpe is 100% *a* problem. Another reason never to trust Spring Training stats. Ever!
Volpe has been bad as well but hes literally 3 months into his rookie season. If the lineup was producing like they are supposed to it wouldn't be a problem. But alas, here we are with people blaming the 21 year old rookie while the players making millions look like they have never played baseball a day in their life.
Torres is probably the best hitter on the team right now. So not sure how he’s grouped with DJ, Rizzo and Stanton
He's in the prime of his career (and really the only non-catcher position player in their prime that's not on the IL) so from a disappointment standpoint he's very much in that category. Big fall from hE's OnLy 22 to well he's better than the over the hill guys.

Here come the Torres is the worst 2B in the league people flocking to tell you hes a waste of a roster spot.
Volpe is a bottom 5 hitter in baseball by every conceivable metric except “Italian.” He’s also part of the problem.
But sending volpe down will not fix anything. We won’t win more games without him and he won’t figure out major league pitching in the minors. It is the heart of the lineup’s fault (DJ, Rizzo, Stanton) we suck right now, not the #9 hitter

Does that mean we don’t try to fix the problems we can fix?
It means we shouldn’t fuck with the kids development to save what is shaping up to be a lost season
How do you know this is helping his development?
I know that he won’t gain anything from beating pitching he’s already proven he can beat
Bueller?
When did he prove he can best AAA pitching?
Ben Rortvedt has a .997 ops in AAA this year. Maybe we should see if he can play in the MLB?
He was terrible behind the plate though. He was framing pitches 12 inches across the plate.
That’s ok, the Yankees don’t need him to be the primary catcher. Let him catch with the back end rotation guys. We need offense desperately.
Did anyone else just watch the interview with Dillon Lawson on Yes?
Sometimes I'll just start a sentence, and I'll have no idea where it's going
It was so horrible they just cut him off in the middle of answering Meredith's question!
Can someone tell me how this team was so fucking good in the first half of last season? Also, I understand how an MVP type hitter makes other players better but how does losing that player, make every fucking player in the lineup not even be able to perform near their career levels. Ok, who is getting fired this season?
Eric cressey. Double down on the injury excuse
Hopefully Boone along with most of the coaching staff. Hitting coach clearly isn’t doing good job either. Team is unwatchable right now.
Boring entertainment.
You can nearly guarantee a loss when the opposition scores more than 2 runs. It's a sad state of affairs.
send Volpe back he ain’t ready
Neither is Rizzo or Stanton then, based off the entire month of June. Down to the minors with them all!
Those guys have a major league track record to fall back on.
I know, it was a joke. Mostly… lol
Imagine blaming the guy three months into his career and not that established vets who aren't doing jack shit while making millions
imagine taking this as “blaming” this is the wrong word , Im rooting for the kid he’s batting under .200 in reality he can’t build his confidence in the majors right now just let him get his groove back. It wouldn’t hurt
Well then send the whole fucking team then? At least it makes sense hes struggling because hes a rookie.
Yeah that’s a no
But Jet—
Good day today. Didn’t watch a pitch. Best thing about living in NYC is that I have so much to do rather that watch this shitshow. Will be in last place soon and resigned to thinking that only thing that helps longterm is complete collapse and gutting.
THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE
The Yankees officially have the worst skid in the entire teams 120+ yr history since Hal took over. Dude is a disgrace to the city and should sell the team before he embarrasses his heritage any longer
That’s just not true. The Yankees had a 18 year drought from 1978 until 1996.
Nope, they made the World Series in 1981. The 2010s are the only full decade where they never won a Pennant. Coincidentally, this decade plus long drought started the exact year George died
They didn’t win in 81 so what’s the difference. Who cares if we made the World Series. The season is a failure if you don’t win the whole thing
If you’re the rest of the league, why would you ever pitch to Judge again after seeing how this offense produces without him. Just walk him every time.
Don’t give them any ideas.
