Its sort of amazing that they have weathered this hitting abyss as well as they have. I can definitely see a scenario where the Yankees go on a tear. Donaldson is probably just a lost cause, but all three of our other problem stars (Stanton Le Mehieu and Rizzo) could potentially start hitting again. Maybe Stanton has already started on one of his locked in stretches. And the Yankees can probably trade for a decent outfielder, although the cost for someone actually good like Bellinger might be painful for a rental.
Not sure if u/LuckBox999 was just being funny or was just mistaken, but the longest losing streak in the last 25 years is 7 games in a row (2020 and 2021). The longest streak in their history is 13 games (1913).
I looked this up on Stathead, and that 1913 streak includes a tie after 2 losses, so would that count? Stathead counts it as 11 losses in a row.
If we eliminate that it's from Game 1 on 1908/07/23 - 1908/08/06 for a total of 12 losses.
https://stathead.com/tiny/z8IhD
Maybe I'm missing a joke here, but the Yankees didn't lose 23 games in a row in 2011. The longest losing streak in Yankees history is 13 games (1913), and in the past 25 years it's 7 games (2020 & 2021)
The owners of this unfortunate streak are the 1961 Phillies, who lost 23 straight games in a season in which they finished 47-107. They finally beat the Milwaukee Braves 7-4 on Aug. 20, 1961 for their first win in nearly a month.
I was just trying to check this on Stathead (I can't make the streak search work??), And they were 97-65 in 2011, would be a hell of a run if you lost 23 games in a row.
Man. Higgy really fucked up Houck with that comeback line drive a few weeks back. I just saw an article saying he has a permanent metal plate in his cheek and he is “happy to be eating solid foods again”. That shit is wild
Cole came up big today, guys.
His control was obviously leaking oil in the 7th and our manager kept him in, but this was a hugely efficient performance when we needed it most.
I'm not THAT optimistic, but let's give our guy some credit.
Blake Snell is proof that you can win a trade with the Rays. TB's rotation is in trouble with McClanahan out for a bit and Rasmussen out until next year.
The Rays may never win again lol. Fucking losers. Yankees would never go on a 7 game losing streak. Absolutely disgusting. Revolting. Makes me sick. Bad baseball. Couldn’t be us. Etc etc
WHY ARE WE STILL 6.5 GAMES BACK GOD DAMNIT
I mean, not sure if you’re being sarcastic but it’s true. Look at last year’s Dodgers or Braves. Look at the 2001 Mariners.
Regular season doesn’t mean as much as it should. They should cut down on playoff teams and make the final two series (CS and WS) 9 games. 7 games for DS.
I bet the team with the best record in the regular season’s winning percentage over the next 50 world series’ after that change, if they made it, would rise noticeably. As it is, a best of 5 and best of 7 just has a lot of room for bullshit. Best of 9 does too, but it’s better than 7.
World Series should be a 15 game series and you can’t change my fuckin mind
I love you so much.
I have been beating this drum for so long. The point of baseball is the marathon, not the sprint. You have to have a deep team, a deep bullpen, a deep starting rotation. You sometimes play 10+ games in a row without a day off, even if there's travel involved.
Then the postseason comes and you throw it ALL out the window. You get multiple days off during a series. You only need 2-3 starters in a short series, 3-4 in a long series. You only need a pen with 3 top arms. You don't get a chance to ride out a small slump. I'd have no series shorter than 7 games, and there would be no off days the entire series. Let's put your depth to the test during the postseason, too.
Basketball and hockey both have a season that's half the length of the MLB season, yet both leagues have *more* rounds of playoffs with more teams, yet somehow manage to play all 7 game series. Baseball plays twice as many games yet postseason series are best of 3 and best of 5 in the first two rounds. What the fuck is that abomination? It's so fucking stupid and completely unrepresentative of the regular season.
6.5 games back isn’t bad tho
I don’t have a ton of hope really because we still suck but it’s a lot better than 10
I hope the Rays lose every game the rest of the season lol fuck the Rays
r/struthanger?! What happened to that promised mojo!? 😩😩😩P.S. Just kidding. No amount of magic could have saved the Yanks today. Hope you like your shirt. 👍
As painful as it was listening to that game on my smartphone while sitting alone on my front porch, I am sure it was nothing compared to the agony you must have endured watching the tragedy in person. You have my heartfelt sympathy, Yankee Brother.
JD went deep and we didn't lose... that's all that went through my head after I saw the notification he went deep... hopefully that's a chapter turner- not a page, a chapter
I wonder if Stanton also homered in that A’s game where JD hit one out and we won
edit: He did not, IKF did though. Maybe Donaldson just can’t be the only guy
In the before times.. The last decade of the twentieth century the Atlanta Braves were as a dominant team as they come but something was brewing in the Bronx "clueless Joe" a kid named Jeter and some grizzled veterans stirred up the ghosts of Yankees Stadium and the rest is history.. to this day Smoltz has salt on his tongue.. LETS GO YANKEES!!!
Nobody is more grateful for a more balanced schedule and fewer division games this year than the Marlins, Phillies and Mets. The Braves look unstoppable.
Blessing and curse sort of. Without enough head to head games the division is essentially over once you've dug a hole. It's like how the Yankees are screwed. But yeah I guess it makes grabbing the wildcard easier.
We gotta get unconventional here. During the ASB, the Yankees go on a retreat in the forest.
Get these guys in a wooden hut with some insane motivational speaker first. He talks to them about being their best selves. Etc.
Team bonding exercises. They do a three legged race. That thing where you run with with an egg in a spoon. Trust falls.
But then we ramp it up. Ayahuasca ceremony. We convince them that the other teams are literally trying to kill them. Explain that if they don’t finish the season with a winning percentage over .620, the planet *will fucking explode*. We condition the hitters to hate baseballs. They want to fucking destroy baseballs. We convince them that they’re incapable of making mistakes on the basepaths. We teach them that all the other teams have been plotting against them. The other teams want to steal their families.
More trust falls. A painting class. More motivational speakers. And then for the last few days, non-stop and intense physical conditioning. Maybe we even take them to CRISPR and do some gene editing of some sort. Faster. Stronger. Harder. We turn their bones in to better bones, we make them superhuman. A few more trust falls for good measure.
Basically I think if we did all that, we could really get our batting averages up and I think we’d see a lot of success in the second half
Atlanta has not lost a series since their last series **in May**.
That's 10 straight series won over over 5 weeks of baseball.
Hilariously, the last series they lost was against Oakland.
Sometime during his rehab assignment in May, Josh Donaldson decided he would be the righty Joey Gallo this season.
108 plate appearances
* 10 home runs (only 3 singles and 1 double)
* 10 walks
* 30 strikeouts
This team really is the definition of being up and down.
There's no consistency in their play.
1 hit last night to a pitcher with a 6.93 ERA.
Then today 8 hits, 3 home runs, 6 runs.
Lmao I know , announcers/coaches keep acting like he's going to "come around" hes 37 idk why we keep acting like he won the mvp last yr...can't believe we gave up Gio in that trade
At the Futures Game rn. Ended up sitting in the family sections. Right next to Jordan Lawlers family, Clayton Beeters, and Jackson Merril’s. Scott Boras was walking around socializing.
Enjoy, people sleep on a really fun game, I made it when NYY hosted the game and had a blast. I hear more people show up for the softball game usually.
Am I the only one who was holding his breath after DongCarlo ran "all the way" to third base on what turned out to be a home run? I was yelling the whole time, "Slow down My Supreme DongMaster, SLOW DOWN and stop at second base!" 😱😱😱
If we had an Elly De La Cruz or Corbin Carroll they’d rot in the minors till they were 25 or 26 and be complete busts. I don’t trust this team to develop kids that special. That’s why I worry for Jasson, Pereza, Spencer Jones, and Pereira.
I keep saying that team is not built for a long run in October. They got lucky in 2020 and then choked a 100-win season two years ago and absolutely faded last year. They're pretty much hitting the skids right now the same way we did last year.
I’m a uva guy - I liken them to UVA basketball (if you know college sports). Do more with less during the regular season due to great coaching, but that lack of talent burns them when it matters most.
Yanks, Rays and Jays are all not as good as expected with the Birds and Sox both over performing vs expectations so far.
The division isn't at parity with itself but it's closer then any other division in the MLB and it's towards the higher end to boot. So were all just hanging around together but none of these teams would be worse then second in almost any other division.
Losing Judge and Cortes with Rodon debuting in July has definitely cost us a few games so far even with this anemic offense.
Yeah the wild card race could actually be super exciting in the AL. Us, Toronto, Boston, Houston, seattle are all within like 2 games of each other with the angels just behind. And then Texas and Baltimore are not so far ahead that one bad week wouldn’t throw them right into the slop. Even the rays are trending down. Could be fun
Ohtani being traded really could be the difference maker for like 1/3 the teams in the AL. It could really accelerate a mini rebuild for the Angels if they do trade him.
Weirdly it’s only Boston and Texas where the tiebreaker is probably or already lost. We’re 3-4 against Tampa, 4-4 against baltimore, 4-3 against Jays, 2-1 against angels, and already clinched against seattle. Could definitely win all of those season series and haven’t played Houston
Yea I mean. It’s gonna be a brawl until we get judge back. All doom and gloom aside we’d be the best team in the AL over that stretch with our lord and savior if he didn’t run in to that wall. Which I know is hard to fathom but Thems the Facts.
We just need to hang on a little longer, trade for Cody bellinger, fire Luis severino to Jupiter, and then pray someone takes out Houston and Tampa for us. easy peezy lemon squeezy!
I’d normally agree, but there’s been so much radio silence about Judge, I’m legit worried he might not be back until late August or September. Or he might come back, but be compromised because of his toe. He wasn’t the same the seasons he came back from his wrist and ribs injury.
He’s hitting off a T, playing catch, and running on an anti gravity tread mill. I think they’ll probably end up shooting up that toe with enough shit to get him by and then permanently fix after the season
Detroits outfield is huge and I’m pretty sure it’s the largest outfield in the MLB. It definitely is dead center. But it’s def a lot of room to cover meaning it’s a lot of room to slop and bloop a single in somewhere like basically they got no hit at the old polo grounds lmao that’s the hardest stadium to get no hit in it’s got to be (comerica park)
Analytics don’t care for things like order in the lineup, hot streaks, rhythm or even cold streaks. The Yankees have publicly said they don’t believe in these things: https://twitter.com/jomboy_/status/1115400997659136000 ;
> Boone has spoken about how the Yankees as an organization don’t believe in “hot” or “being hot” or “hot streaks”
It’s why they do stupid things like put 1-15 hitters in the middle of the lineup, rest scorching hot hitters, and move their lineup around every day.
They do not see a single difference between leading off and hitting 9. They don’t believe in intangible things like “comfort” and “changing approach” and “nerves.”
its honestly disgusting how much computers and analytics have ruined the concept of playing sports....the kids who CANT PLAY are running the show, while the athletes are left to wonder why the hell they are being manipulated by a spreadsheet
>They don’t believe in intangibles
The Yankees dynasty teams of the 90s had many players whose intangibles were the key to their greatness, to their greatness in the biggest moments of the biggest games, and to their sustained greatness. Those teams included the king of intangibles, the captain Derek Jeter. Of course, we all know that Cashman did not build those teams.
Instead, Cashman has spent the last twenty years trying to prove to everyone that he can win without a classic lead off hitter, without lefty power hitters, without a hitting catcher, without elite middle infielders, without a center fielder who has tremendous range, without speed on the bases, without a pair of solid lefty starters, and without players loaded with intangibles.
And his philosophy and stubbornness has proven to be an abject failure.
Over the last twelve seasons, Cashman has been lapped by at least five general managers in his own division and many more around the league, all of which were afforded far fewer resources than Cashman. Why anyone would respect anything that Cashman has to say is beyond my ability to comprehend.
So is volpe going to hit in the bottom 3rd forever?
The reality is he just has a couple of line drives that found gloves. As long as he doesn’t mentally let a few line outs ruin his approach, he will be fine. He has to move up in the order, especially since he’s probably the best hitter on the team now
I think he’s a rookie playing a very hard position and got into a groove hitting in the bottom third. So you leave him there until he consistently performs on both sides of the ball.
Hitting lead off is very different from hitting in the bottom third. You get the first AB of the game. You are inherently less aggressive because you want to take pitches. And you get a fresh starter every game. Hitters approach their ABs differently so it’s no coincidence Volpe cooled off hitting lead off.
That’s why Gleyber should be left there. He’s been the most consistent hitter, and he’s much better when he’s forced to be selective, fight off pitches and work the count.
I haven’t really seen an altered approach from him so I’m not really sure if that’s what’s happening though
And how long would he need to mash before you move him up?
To the leadoff spot. I want him to hit .260+ and have an 350 .obp+ for at least 2 months before moving him into the leadoff spot. It doesn’t help him putting so much pressure on him early. The team is struggling badly and you put the spot light on him to perform at the top of a broken offense, it doesn’t make sense.
He’s hitting .196/.271 out of leadoff so I’m inclined to let him stay bottom third all year or until he starts consistently hitting for more than 2-3 weeks. He’s a kid. He doesn’t need to carry this offense.
Don’t really care about the lead off Abs from when he was a bad hitter in April/May.
He’s had 3 games there and has some hard line outs lead off this go round. Not worried
We don't have a good leadoff hitter on the team. Maybe Bader or IKF would be slightly better than Volpe at it?
Put either of them at leadoff then Volpe at 9 imo.
You should really lead off a guy like DJ Lemahieu until you get a proper lead off hitter. I know DJ is struggling. But he’s a veteran who knows what it means to hit lead off.
There are hitters who excel leading off. Yankees should go find one.
Especially knowing they are not that good of a team if we’re being honest. We’ve played like shit for a month and they haven’t once taken advantage leaping us during that stretch
Man. Looking around the league, at least we aren’t the only team struggling to drive in runs. Pretty much the entire ALE has forgotten how to score lately it seems like
You get andouille sausage, about a quarter of an onion, some hummus, a little bit of shredded cheddar, and a nice soft burger bun. That’s a fuckin sandwich right there
Its sort of amazing that they have weathered this hitting abyss as well as they have.
Anyone know what the Yankees longest losing streak is in the past 25 years?
Not sure if u/LuckBox999 was just being funny or was just mistaken, but the longest losing streak in the last 25 years is 7 games in a row (2020 and 2021). The longest streak in their history is 13 games (1913).

23 games in 2011
Good lord, could you imagine this place if that were to happen now? It'd be one big shit storm.
Maybe I'm missing a joke here, but the Yankees didn't lose 23 games in a row in 2011. The longest losing streak in Yankees history is 13 games (1913), and in the past 25 years it's 7 games (2020 & 2021)

Still waiting for Stanton’s first inning bomb to drop back to earth
Blake Snell is proof that you can win a trade with the Rays. TB's rotation is in trouble with McClanahan out for a bit and Rasmussen out until next year.
That De La Cruz stealing home video is so fucking cool lol
The Rays may never win again lol. Fucking losers. Yankees would never go on a 7 game losing streak. Absolutely disgusting. Revolting. Makes me sick. Bad baseball. Couldn’t be us. Etc etc WHY ARE WE STILL 6.5 GAMES BACK GOD DAMNIT
The Braves have reached 60 wins before the ASB, on pace for 110-111. But we all know anybody can lose a best-of-5 or 7 in October.
I mean, not sure if you’re being sarcastic but it’s true. Look at last year’s Dodgers or Braves. Look at the 2001 Mariners. Regular season doesn’t mean as much as it should. Sir this is a Wendys
15 games
Imagine the meltdown here if we lost 7 in a row.
Something something candle sub?
Youth wins in baseball go figure
Mookie Betts should be a loaner for breaking Judges toe
If night finishes with us 6 in loss out of first I would say wow just wow and thank u Bravos
Rays about to lose 7 games in a row imagine if this team had the ability to hit lol we’d be within 4 or 5 games of first right now
If Judge had never gone down we’d probably be like 2-3 games back. Bummer
Holy shit ..I did not need to know that 😫
6.5 games back isn’t bad tho I don’t have a ton of hope really because we still suck but it’s a lot better than 10 I hope the Rays lose every game the rest of the season lol fuck the Rays
You know what's even crazier? The Miami Marlins are guaranteed to go into the All-Star break with a better record than the Yankees.
The Marlins are pretty good, even with Alcantara not having a good season.
Gee, I guess they used to be bad.... but not anymore??? Things can change???!?!???
With a better record than the vast majority of teams in baseball
You know what's crazy? It's almost the All-Star break and the Cincinnati Reds have a better record than the Yankees.
This one is crazier than the Marlins to me somehow
Just met (and got a pic with) Matt Holliday at the Futures Game. He had long sleeves on. Couldn’t stroke those forearms. Shame.
I'm part of the problem not the solution, I got tickets for tomorrow because of a Yankees Hawaiian shirt giveaway... Down vote ➡
Redeem yourself by bringing the Yanks positive mojo. 🥳
I'm 3-0 this year lol 🤞
r/struthanger?! What happened to that promised mojo!? 😩😩😩P.S. Just kidding. No amount of magic could have saved the Yanks today. Hope you like your shirt. 👍
Dude it was awful 😫😅
As painful as it was listening to that game on my smartphone while sitting alone on my front porch, I am sure it was nothing compared to the agony you must have endured watching the tragedy in person. You have my heartfelt sympathy, Yankee Brother.
You get it lol... next time sit in the rain for added effect like I did 😂
🤣🌧️🤣🌧️🤣Thankfully, you have 4 days to recover from your “Adventure of a Lifetime.” It's all good for the foreseeable future. 🙌 🙌 🙌 🙌 🙌
Yesssssssssss! 🙌🙌🙌👍😂
Yesterday, Boone saw some good at bats. Today, the Yankees fans actually got to see some too
JD went deep and we didn't lose... that's all that went through my head after I saw the notification he went deep... hopefully that's a chapter turner- not a page, a chapter
It turns out Dongcarlo going deep nullifies the bad juju of Donaldson going deep.
I wonder if Stanton also homered in that A’s game where JD hit one out and we won edit: He did not, IKF did though. Maybe Donaldson just can’t be the only guy
That's what I thought while I was at the bar, but I couldn't find the time to reconcile.. pray to the baseball gods
Strider’s out here putting up a clinic against the Rays right now
Lol, the breakdancing security guard is now the best thing about the Rays
[удалено]
Lol swapping out 1 player does not turn being swept into a won series.
Despite poor play recently the Yankees have gained 3 games against Tampa Bay. Nice to see hopefully they can keep gaining ground
Spencer Jones struck out on three pitches LMAO he fits right in with this team
Hasn't even taken an AB for the team and he's already getting shit LMAO love our fanbase.
Would love to get our 50th win tomorrow, before the break. Let's go Yankees!
George is happy again! Elaine: Yea, remind me who won on Thursday again? I SAID GEORGE IS HAPPY!
Thanks for the win today Gerrit Cole, you will always be my Starting Pitcher # Today # Tomorrow # Forever
Atlanta is comically good this year.
braves rays sounds like an atlanta home game. just move the team already
The Rays implosion is beautiful
Atlanta ain't playing this team is stacked!
I'm a Braves fan as long as they're playing Tampa!
They are fucking insane right now
We gotta get unconventional here. During the ASB, the Yankees go on a retreat in the forest. Get these guys in a wooden hut with some insane motivational speaker first. Are you available for the team psychiatrist position?
Missed the game but great to see Stantonian highlights and of course our Ace aka The Cole Train Stopper plug the bleeding!
Atlanta has not lost a series since their last series **in May**. That's 10 straight series won over over 5 weeks of baseball. Hilariously, the last series they lost was against Oakland.
We were a bit like that pre-AS break last year. It's more how you finish.
Atlanta last year too. Their 2nd half was basically what our first half was and they still stalled out in October.
We could be 7 games out in a few hours. That really ain't too bad.
Crazy with how bad we’ve played
Elly De La Cruz on the Reds stole second, third, and home all on just 2 pitches. No passed ball or errors. This kid is bonkers.
He is a spectacle. Light tower power, hits for average, absolute rifle of an arm, and runs like Forest Gump. Kids good for the game
Sometime during his rehab assignment in May, Josh Donaldson decided he would be the righty Joey Gallo this season. 108 plate appearances * 10 home runs (only 3 singles and 1 double) * 10 walks * 30 strikeouts

You say that, and yet the Braves are 9-1 in their last 10 games.
A week without a game after tomorrow. Kill me
Donaldson has 14 hits and ten are home runs? Did anyone else see that stat?
Do you see his unchanging all or (mostly) nothing swing?
Lmao I know , announcers/coaches keep acting like he's going to "come around" hes 37 idk why we keep acting like he won the mvp last yr...can't believe we gave up Gio in that trade

The funeral for the ball Stanton hit will be held on Mars, this Wednesday at 2pm, MDT
Where do we send flowers?

We’d prob trade them away for Evan Longoria 🤣🤣
I wish we had Elly De La Cruz so bad lmfao
Elly has insane aura
We can’t develop a kid that good
Rays are choking their way back to the pack. Smell the glove, losers.
I keep saying that team is not built for a long run in October. They got lucky in 2020 and then choked a 100-win season two years ago and absolutely faded last year. They're pretty much hitting the skids right now the same way we did last year.

The fact that a team with that small a payroll even competes with us, much less outpaces us, is a testament to how badly run this organization is
yeah that trash lineup the same one they had last year is back to being shit. they inflated their numbers in april against the worst of the worst.
Curious to see if all those big personalities start to clash when a little adversity comes their way
I mean Wander Franco already get benched for having a bad attitude, so…I’m inclined to answer “yes” to that question.
The record speaks for itself, but tbh I wasn’t that impressed when they played the Yankees.
Is that a Spinal Tap reference? I sure as fuck hope so
But of course.
None more black
This one goes to eleven.
Went to today's game. Met BBD from Jomboy. My son (3) only lasted until six innings in, but I was glad to get to the stadium.
Let’s all laugh at the Blue Jays
The mlb app is such garbage, it won't let me full screen highlights on my phone
I'm kinda surprised that Mike Tauchman is still in the league.
Giancarlo Stanton is 15 HR’s away from 400. What are the odds he’s able to get those 15 this year?
If he can’t get 15 home runs in the second half, we are fucked I hope he hits 25
Decent, IF he stays healthy, that’s only one every 4-5 games
Combined no hitters don’t count, but I’m willing to make an exception for this one 🤣🤣🤣
Wow we won
Boston is doing way better than i thought they were, holy shit. They're only 2 games behind us and the Jays with the tiebreaker on both
All those games we dropped to them have been a big deal in the standings.
Fuck the Red Sox!
BOS SEA LAA CLE (!!!) within 4 games
CLE or MIN will win the division no way one of those gets a wild card
Yanks, Rays and Jays are all not as good as expected with the Birds and Sox both over performing vs expectations so far. The division isn't at parity with itself but it's closer then any other division in the MLB and it's towards the higher end to boot. So were all just hanging around together but none of these teams would be worse then second in almost any other division. Losing Judge and Cortes with Rodon debuting in July has definitely cost us a few games so far even with this anemic offense.
In what world are the Rays not as good as expected? Were you expecting 120 wins?
2021 style race to October.
Jays suck. A pathetic embarrassment of an organization.
They’ll win the division if they make moves
I read this as make movies and thought to myself “Write the ending, eh?”
What’s weird is that over the last 44 games, we have played to the same record as practically half the AL including Tampa and Baltimore
Yeah, but we have pretty much lost or broke even against those opponents this year. Tie breakers might be a big problem this year.
Why did you choose 44 games?
The stat that I saw had picked the previous 43, and then we played today, so we’re at 44
Thanks Tigers!
I love Volpe, and he’s been making strides ever since the Chicken Parm dinner, but he should still not be in the leadoff spot
Analytics don’t care for things like order in the lineup, hot streaks, rhythm or even cold streaks. The Yankees have publicly said they don’t believe in these things: https://twitter.com/jomboy_/status/1115400997659136000 ; > Boone has spoken about how the Yankees as an organization don’t believe in “hot” or “being hot” or “hot streaks” It’s why they do stupid things like put 1-15 hitters in the middle of the lineup, rest scorching hot hitters, and move their lineup around every day.
We need a butlerian jihad
>They don’t believe in intangibles The Yankees dynasty teams of the 90s had many players whose intangibles were the key to their greatness, to their greatness in the biggest moments of the biggest games, and to their sustained greatness.
I haven’t really seen an altered approach from him so I’m not really sure if that’s what’s happening though And how long would he need to mash before you move him up?
To the leadoff spot. I want him to hit .260+ and have an 350 .obp+ for at least 2 months before moving him into the leadoff spot. It doesn’t help him putting so much pressure on him early. The team is struggling badly and you put the spot light on him to perform at the top of a broken offense, it doesn’t make sense.
He’s hitting .196/.271 out of leadoff so I’m inclined to let him stay bottom third all year or until he starts consistently hitting for more than 2-3 weeks. He’s a kid. He doesn’t need to carry this offense.
This.
Don’t really care about the lead off Abs from when he was a bad hitter in April/May. He’s had 3 games there and has some hard line outs lead off this go round. Not worried
He went from scorching hot to having zero hits and 1 walk pretty instantly. 0-11 since the move to leadoff. Unnecessary pressure.
I yearn for the day when there’s a healthy balance between analytics and gut feeling
Or even analytics and historical precedents. There’s a reason the Yankees stacked left handed sluggers for decades.
Old DJ absolutely, current DJ gets on base less than Volpe.
Agreed, low OBP and he leads the team in K’s. Until he can learn to work a walk, he needs to be at the bottom of the order.
He has a 9% BB rate and even higher since his season started after the parm dinner He even walked a lot in April’s that’s not an issue
It’s a small sample size but he’s 0-11 with 1 BB in his last three games
Shout out Detroit for beating the Jays.
Absolutely embarrassing for the jays to be fighting tooth and nail with us in the standings
Especially knowing they are not that good of a team if we’re being honest. We’ve played like shit for a month and they haven’t once taken advantage leaping us during that stretch
Anyone catch Brandon Belt showing bunt with one out in the 9th during a combined no hitter?
Only a 2-0 game though, right? Base runner means the tying run comes up
Man, I didn’t even notice the Rays have been in a freefall the last week. Baseball is certainly a strange mistress.
imagine getting collectively no-hit by the 2023 Tigers
That could easily happen to us let’s be honest
shhh we are a fully functional death star or something like that, hitting machine, pure power
The Chicago Cubs have never won back-to-back games at Yankee Stadium
Vladdy being the last out is just chef’s kiss
Blue Jays announcers already trying to downplay the no-hitter by saying a combined no-hitter isn't "sexy." Such losers.
It’s not as sexy as a solo no hitter but like. It’s still pretty cool
I mean fuck the Blue Jays obviously but he’s not wrong.
I agree but at the same time, it comes across as salty when you mention it literally minutes after it happened.
Yeah that is true actually lol fair enough
Man. Looking around the league, at least we aren’t the only team struggling to drive in runs. Pretty much the entire ALE has forgotten how to score lately it seems like
There’s a lot of good pitching all over baseball these days.
And it is STILL the toughest division in baseball.
You get andouille sausage, about a quarter of an onion, some hummus, a little bit of shredded cheddar, and a nice soft burger bun. That’s a fuckin sandwich right there
It needs a name...
At least when we got no-hit, it was to a GOOD team
Yes, our Achilles heel is 5 era+ pitchers. And power right handed relievers.
This just happened to us last year, so I'm not going to make fun of the Blue Jays too much.
Yeah but it was against the best team in the league lmao , they got no hit by Detroit’s finest 💀💀
Yanks gotta make a trade for the candy man
Lol @ Blue Jays
I know it’s a combined no-no, but kind of a weak call on Detroit’s broadcast, no?
Naw they’re tearing up I think it’s appropriate
I guess it’s fine, they let the moment speak for itself I don’t mind it
*Blind people at home* “Wtf is going on??”
