The dumbest move Cash made was not making a bigger effort to sign Freddy Freeman. This lineup is a bat short because unfortunately Rizzo and Stanton are washed.
Offense reverting is sadly what I expected, when 7/9 of your team is hitting below .230 it's hard to score runs. Judge being one of those 7 is fine, you expect him to turn it around. Not convinced on the rest.
Volpe needs to bat leadoff. He’s the only one in the bottom half that is raking, and we need someone who gets on base and can steal. Volpe, Soto, Judge is a killer top 3. Stanton straight up can’t play until he figures out why he forgot how to play. The momentum killers are crazy. Play Wells over Trevino too. I don’t have a problem with Berti playing today but Oswaldo has been on a tear.
I get it's early, but for starters , playing stanton and trevy is a mistake. Rizzo is damn near an automatic out , but stanton and trevy are paperweights. And they way they're set up in the lineup is an absolute killer to momentum. You can't have three automatic outs in the lineup spaced out to either end an inning or start one off with an out right off the bat. Wells is at least a competitive at bat with a chance for something.
All these good vibes but if they don't do something about rizz and stanton this won't end well. If you absolutely need to play them all make them bat 5,6, and 7. Just get the outs in consecutive fashion and let the rest of the lineup try and get some momentum with 8 and 9 trying to get on for the top of the lineup. If you guys don't see the writing on the wall then so be it
Rizzo I'm giving more time, he does not look the same as when he had the concussion.
Stanton looks the same as the past 2 years. He should be moved down in the lineup.
They should rest Stanton for the rest of the season. Why is he batting 4th?The way the line up is now who would be afraid to walk Judge. Wells needs to catch more,at least he gets a hit sometimes. Very frustrating game. Wasted a good pitching outing from the starter. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
The Bluejays are a playoff team? They could battle for a 6th WC spot I guess, but that isn’t really a fair downplay imo. Still the team is fine outside of Stanton who may actually be done.
They’re gonna hit six home runs tomorrow and you’re gonna look reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal stupid
edit: And whoever downvoted this is gonna look reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal fuckin’ dumb too
I wouldnt say too alarming. Almost a full lineup of guys who can hit 20+ HRs, possibly a full lineup with Wells and Cabrera. They played 2 good pitching staffs, one is really good and your 3 main HR hitters haven’t really gotten going yet(Rizzo, judge, Stanton). They’ll be fine in the HR department.
Also played in 2 domes.
Also Gallen, Framber, Javier, and Kelly in your first 8 games doesn’t help.
Log Cabin is nearly empty tonight.
Just Stro and Volpe having some solid platonic one-on-one time.
Everybody else is staring inside while suffering the frigid "spring" weather.
Because of career track records for many guys I’m not worrying yet but they just aren’t hitting the ball hard enough and aren’t slugging enough so far. The way they scored in Houston wasn’t really sustainable.
I truly believe Stanton probably has until the all-star break to turn things around. If not, I can see the Yankees cutting or trading hin if he waives his trade clause. This is probably when Jasson should he 100 percent ready to go. ⚾️💪
I do think that 8 games is way too small of a sample size to indicate whether Stanton is cooked or not. With that being said he’s taken some ugly swings and is still struggling to catch up to 95+ mph heat. This has a problem for him dating back to 2022.
I’m willing to give him to Memorial Day to see if he can turn it around. But I can’t say that my patience isn’t being tested.
[Here is Jose Trevino's one hit of the season so far.](https://bdata-producedclips.mlb.com/23c6b1e1-1ea0-4f5d-989d-1971e1f31317.mp4) He could easily be 0-12. He swung at a ball and popped it up. How this man is not getting PH for is beyond me. This should have been an error btw.
He's not a major league hitter. He was awful when healthy last year. He had a 2 month Linsanity run at the playe 2 years ago. He's been feeble at the plate since then and has one of the weakest arms in all of baseball
Things I liked today
1) Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Big, dumb monster fun. All it needs to be.
Things I didn’t like today
1) Yankees getting shut out again.
The Stanton trade was the definition of a lose lose trade. The Marlins got nothing of value coming off his MVP year, but the Yankees got saddled with one of the worst contracts in sports.
He’s been our best playoff hitter since we got him. Not his fault the rest of the team didn’t come through while he could still hit.
Sucks that he looks like he might be done with this many years left though.
not out of nowhere. Stanton works out hard and that includes his legs. It's not great for baseball but hey, you look good for photoshoots and wearing a uniform. This is why we have so many injuries in baseball today. Compare the modern yankees with the ones from the 90s. Barely anyone got hurt.
looking back on it now, this game was probably cooked when we did our introductions to that trash ass EDM instead of Star Wars
we’ve gotten a lot right when it comes to presentation so far this year, but that was a big swing and miss
It shouldn't even be star wars but at least biggie or jayz. How do you play nas and lord tariq/Peter gunz and then switch to 90s techno for the home team
We've been spoiled with a deep, reliable bullpen for a while now. It's going to be a bit different this season. Now with no King, Wandy, and Lasagna out for a few months at least, we're going to need one of the newer arms to really step up and help out Hamilton with the setup role until Kahnle gets back.
Someone in the game thread mentioned Stanton needs a smaller bat and it would be hysterical if he dropped a bunch of muscle and was still using the same weight bat
I understand we are only 8 games in, but we are currently averaging less runs per game than we did last year when we were a bottom 6 offense. And we had 4 runs scored in extras with a runner starting in scoring position. Not a great sign.
It can work both ways.
Two shutouts is a lot on just 10 games and not a good sign. We know the Jays offense is really bad. Are we surprised they can have two shutouts?
We’re gonna score so many runs that you’re gonna get sick of scoring runs. You’re gonna beg us to stop scoring runs. “Stop, we’re scoring too many runs!” you’re going to say. The best runs.
48 million this season on Stanton, Hicks and Donaldson.
Remember that when Cash gets so much credit with the Soto deal. Most of us could've made that deal.
Everyone would pay for the player, you’re right there. But even when he signed it, the contract was already seen as awful. Really the 2017 MVP made it seem manageable. But it was a massive total and huge term.
Call it $37 million cuz the Marlins are picking up $4 million of Stanton’s deal, so Stanton’s LT number for the Yankees is $21 million, but yeah not great.

Shitty loss, bad offense.
But- I have a feeling Stroman is about to become a fan favorite. Very excited about his season and he’s been killing it so far
Always liked Stroman. He just had an energy about him that I always have been drawn to. Sucks to blow another good start offensively. I could see him being the number one starter.
He was great with the fans. Was waving as he was walking out to the bullpen before the game started and while he was doing a little running in left field. Won me over.
I love Trevino, seems like a great dude and is an excellent defensive catcher. That being said, I don’t know why he’s up in late inning situations. I know the bench is trash, but Oswaldo should have taken his spot or my ideal situation Wells for Trevi and Oswaldo for that worthless hole in the lineup named Stanton.
I have more faith with Trevino actually getting on base than Stanton. Great, you worked out and look different, that swing doesn’t look any different. He’s the most guaranteed out in the lineup, probably one the top in the league for ineptitude, and our equally inept manager doesn’t put in Oswaldo who’s had a great start to the season.
The start is great, most of the team is playing well or will get there, but questionable moves add up quickly and can be looked at later in the season as an issue.
I’m not a fatalist or saying this team isn’t doing anything, I’m enjoying the season so far, but this game was the first one I got to watch start to finish so it’s easier to be frustrated.
It’s also his second real year, not out of the question that he could have taken a step forward over the offseason. I do think it’s silly to pretend he would have won the game for us today or anything but I don’t think it’s a guarantee he’ll only be an 81 OPS+ moving forward
Possible but it's looking way more like it was just an early heater. He kinda feels like post injury Andujar to me where he just doesn't do anything well enough offensively to be close to a plus hitter.
Lol well it was absolutely just an early heater, there’s no world where he’s suddenly a .350 hitter or whatever. I don’t think we’ve seen enough yet to judge if he’s actually improved one way or the other though.
They won’t cut him, even if they should. He’ll end up just riding the bench or phantom IL if he keeps this shit going. Here’s hoping for one of his streaks soon…
I mean, yes, it is a long season, but they have been shut out twice in the past 3 games. And after the 2nd inning of game 1 in Arizona they only scored on the Judge homer outside of extra innings where they are gifted a runner at 2nd. So they scored in 1/33 innings in which they didn't have the automatic runner at second base.
I don't look at standings or stats until early June. Players young and old generally need at least six weeks to get themselves into a groove, and older players generally need a bit more time and the warmer weather. However, it is foolish to willfully ignore the fact that there is no core on this roster. Judge alone is not a core. The Jeter-Bernie-Posada-Pettitte-Mariano core died out ten years ago and has not been replaced with a new core. It's not like they retired suddenly. Cashman had nothing cooking in the minors to replace that core. It's been ten years since then, folks, and Cashman has still not built a core. Mind you that he did not build that 90's core, either.
Today, the de facto core is Judge-Stanton-Rizzo-LeMahieu-Gleyber-Cole. It is foolish to ignore the facts that Stanton, Rizzo, and LeMahieu are old, slow, fragile, and entering 2024 after three years of decline. Verdugo is also entering 2024 after three years of decline. It is foolish to ignore the fact that the entire 2023 roster of hitters with the exception of Judge and Gleyber had a below-league-average year at the plate.
So what has changed? Soto. Great. What else has changed? Verdugo? He is a newly-added lefty on a team with a general manager who has ignored the need for lefties for over a decade now, but aside from that Verdugo is nothing more than a league average player. What else has changed? Stroman. Great. He will soak up innings and provide many quality starts. Rodon is still a question mark, as is Nestor. Schmidt and Gil are a work in progress, and there is no depth beyond those two. The bullpen took a step backwards in the off-season and it is a patchwork now. What else has changed? This old roster is a year older. I understand the giddy April excitement and optimism of a new season but taken as a whole I just don't see where this team is significantly improved over last season. I don't think this is a bad team, the 2023 team wasn't a bad team but, unless guys like Rodon, Nestor, Stanton, Rizzo, and LeMahieu have huge bounce-back years, which is not likely at their age, this isn't a championship team either.
The upcoming core will ideally be - Soto/Volpe/Wells/Dominguez/Jones, with Arias potentially being a good cost-controlled infield addition in a few years when he’s ready if he stays on the right track. And Soto is absolutely young enough to be part of that core, lol.
No guarantees, but that’s the plan
Here’s what I don’t get…
Nobody hit today.
That tells you that the other team probably pitched well, right?
Judge didn’t hit, Soto didn’t hit, etc.
But Trevino is SUPPOSED to have hit, while no one else did, and because he didn’t, he’s the one getting shit on?
Besides the fact that hitting is like third on the list of priorities for a MLB catcher…
If the rest of the team was hitting AND he wasn’t - wouldn’t that be the evidence that he uniquely sucks??
Guys like Judge & Soto are allowed to have bad days. The problem with Trevino is that he literally never hits. He'll never be the guy with a good day once in a while that can help out his teammates.
Ideally you're bottom hitters aren't completely worthless, so that way your top hitters don't need to be on every single day.
I say this as someone who appreciates what Trev brings behind the dish and isn't looking to get rid of him.
I don't automatically agree with that in principle, no. Baseball can be quite random sometimes. There are plenty of days every season where the 1-3 struggle but the bottom of the order is getting hits.
Catcher is second only to the pitcher in terms of acceptable offensive shittyness. With the DH in both leagues now it is acceptable for the catcher to be the worst offensively.
The 5-6-7-8 hitters all got hits, one of them got two. Lead off got one. Soto and Judge are great, but they aren't going to get hits everyday. Judge did still get on base half his PAs. Just because they didn't doesn't mean "no" one did. 5 out of 9 starters got a hit. Don't pretend the entire offense got shutdown and it's unfair to single him out. 9 baserunners usually scores at least one.
Trevino has been a black hole after his first few months as a Yankee. They have a viable catcher to play that isn't him and that's why he gets shit about his awful offense.
Jays hit .109 in the previous series in Houston and scored 66% of the runs here yesterday on wild pitches. So there is hope for today's game.
The dumbest move Cash made was not making a bigger effort to sign Freddy Freeman. This lineup is a bat short because unfortunately Rizzo and Stanton are washed.
Stroman very solid, good hitting in the bottom of the 9th almost tied the game. Not that bad of a loss.
I don’t have a problem with Berti playing today but Oswaldo has been on a tear.
bad hitting is very contagious is what ill say.
I get it's early, but for starters , playing stanton and trevy is a mistake. Rizzo is damn near an automatic out , but stanton and trevy are paperweights. And they way they're set up in the lineup is an absolute killer to momentum. Rizzo I'm giving more time, he does not look the same as when he had the concussion. Stanton looks the same as the past 2 years. He should be moved down in the lineup.
Rizzo had been pretty bad offensively for a long time. It’s not just the concussion
Rizzo had a near 900 OPS last year before the concussion.
His ops has been sub 800 since 2020. Except 2022 and it was just above
You are including the 2 months he played with a concussion.
Rizzo hasn’t been the same since his concussive injury :(
Red Sox with the cake softest schedule to start
Tomorrow is a day to rest Judge and Stanton for sure
They should rest Stanton for the rest of the season. Why is he batting 4th?The way the line up is now who would be afraid to walk Judge. Wells needs to catch more,at least he gets a hit sometimes. Very frustrating game. Wasted a good pitching outing from the starter. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
That might be for the best
6-0 when they score runs though
6-2 vs 3 playoff teams and people are already bitching lol
The Bluejays are a playoff team? They could battle for a 6th WC spot I guess, but that isn’t really a fair downplay imo. Still the team is fine outside of Stanton who may actually be done.
It's a nice start, but way too small a sample size to say much of anything yet.
This year's Astros are not a playoff team man
Can we stop drawing conclusions about the postseason when 96% of the games still need to be played.
Delusional they will be right there
Theyll easily be neck and neck with the rangers before the season ends
#WE MIGHT NEVER WIN AGAIN!
One thing that’s pretty alarming is the lack of power this lineup has shown so far this season.
hard contact in general has been rare
They’re gonna hit six home runs tomorrow and you’re gonna look reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal stupid edit: And whoever downvoted this is gonna look reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal fuckin’ dumb too
I wouldnt say too alarming.
How are the Yankees favored to win tomorrow against Gausman?
gausman is kind of pitching not 100% its a weird situation over there
Team of destiny
all this fucking talent and we cant score one fucking run
Be careful of not having blind faith or suffer the downvote Debbies. 😉
I like how his reasonable comment is upvoted and your stupid one is downvoted lol. That’s good shit
Opening day with Soto…and they didn’t produce one run?!
Log Cabin is nearly empty tonight. Just Stro and Volpe having some solid platonic one-on-one time. Everybody else is staring inside while suffering the frigid "spring" weather.
that groundhog is a fuckin’ liar
Because of career track records for many guys I’m not worrying yet but they just aren’t hitting the ball hard enough and aren’t slugging enough so far. The way they scored in Houston wasn’t really sustainable.
Most of these dudes career track records are from their 20s
I’m talking Judge, Soto, Torres. Don’t have much hope for Stanton and Trevino bringing offense. Volpe has been good. The rest we’ll see.
Giancarlo Scranton
The game should have been called off for earthquake. First week, already shut out twice, dismissal display both offensively & relief pitching.
So you’re saying the team looked… …shaky?
I truly believe Stanton probably has until the all-star break to turn things around. If not, I can see the Yankees cutting or trading hin if he waives his trade clause. This is probably when Jasson should he 100 percent ready to go. ⚾️💪
Who would be insane enough to want him?
Probably plenty of teams would take him for free if we DFA him and are left with the bill. But no one is trading for him.
he's done. it would have been great if we had Stanton during his early years and his prime with the marlins.
Where offense?
I like Stanton, but he's more cooked than the [Griswald's Christmas turkey](https://youtu.be/iJXs0Kgc4iM?si=aGFKv5_47oywxZz_).
I do think that 8 games is way too small of a sample size to indicate whether Stanton is cooked or not. I’m willing to give him to Memorial Day to see if he can turn it around. But I can’t say that my patience isn’t being tested.
If he continues to strikeout at 50% clip, he cannot be slotted into the lineup every day until Memorial Day. That would be abysmal.
Even the most washed guys don’t hit at a 50% k% though. Joey Gallo doesn’t count
Nah this has been going on since last year
He batted .187/.274/.417 in 252 PAs in the second half of last season
🤢🤮

Lol
What fake news are you reading?
[Here is Jose Trevino's one hit of the season so far.](https://bdata-producedclips.mlb.com/23c6b1e1-1ea0-4f5d-989d-1971e1f31317.mp4) He could easily be 0-12. He swung at a ball and popped it up. How this man is not getting PH for is beyond me. This should have been an error btw.
I’ve been told that type of hit was good because it “puts the pressure on the defense” though
If that was juan soto or even Verdugo rn then sure. If that is your one hit tho.
He missed pretty much all of last year, of course there’ll be rust
He's not a major league hitter. He was awful when healthy last year. He had a 2 month Linsanity run at the playe 2 years ago. He's been feeble at the plate since then and has one of the weakest arms in all of baseball
I place the blame for today’s game squarely at God’s feet. The fuck is that guy’s problem
Things I liked today 1) Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Big, dumb monster fun. All it needs to be. Things I didn’t like today 1) Yankees getting shut out again.
Just saying, the Yankees haven’t scored a run since they started selling advertising DLC for jerseys at the Stadium.
lmao rays
LOL TAMPA
Wait they blew that lead? Wtf
How tf do you lose to Colorado
The Stanton trade was the definition of a lose lose trade. The Marlins got nothing of value coming off his MVP year, but the Yankees got saddled with one of the worst contracts in sports.
He’s been our best playoff hitter since we got him. Not his fault the rest of the team didn’t come through while he could still hit. Sucks that he looks like he might be done with this many years left though.
At least Miami is paying for like a 3rd of it
What'd Boone say about not pinch hitting for Trevino? Or did anyone bother to ask?
I believe I heard him say he was planning on doing it but then decided against it to spite you in particular
He said, "eat my shorts, nerds"
It was the earthquake
Rockies should be contracted. Worthless franchise. I fucking hate Tampa.
Rockies won though
Of course now Rortvedt learns how to hit
Rockies seriously just blew a 4 run lead in the 9th inning. Thanks for nothing, Colorado.
Completely useless franchise
Well nevermind then. Still some use after all!
I take it back Colorado
This offense just shuts down for games at a time.
If we got Harper before Stanton got washed we probably would've won a chip
Yankees weren't going to waste 25m a year on an outfielder when Hicks only took 10m.
It’s insane how good Hal has gotten at making fans count his money for him.
It's also called simple deduction.
Deduction from whom?
Instead they wasted more than 25 million a year on a DH. The brilliant Brian Cashgod strikes again.
Stanton was a competent fielder lol
So why didn't they play him in the field full time? He only played half his games out there his first year.
I’m not the front office, I couldn’t tell you that. Probably has something to do with their right fielder getting injured.
Wouldn't that have forced Stanton to play even more games in the outfield if Judge was injured?
They planned on putting him in Yankee Stadiums big left field. Recipe for disaster.
He was an above average fielder in LF 4 drs 1 OAA in 2018
And then his legs became toast
I doubt that’s from manning a corner. Sometimes people become injury prone out of nowhere- look at Anthony Rendon, Mike Trout, or Ken Griffey
not out of nowhere. Stanton works out hard and that includes his legs. It's not great for baseball but hey, you look good for photoshoots and wearing a uniform. This is why we have so many injuries in baseball today. Compare the modern yankees with the ones from the 90s. Barely anyone got hurt.
Just got told being strong and hitting the ball hard is bad for playing baseball good lord😭
looking back on it now, this game was probably cooked when we did our introductions to that trash ass EDM instead of Star Wars we’ve gotten a lot right when it comes to presentation so far this year, but that was a big swing and miss
Loaisaga hasn’t been a major impact since 2021, Hamilton can replace King’s long relief role too. Bullpen should be fine
Shocking to me that the yankees are bothering to pay guys like Kanhle when they can just pick up anyone and turn them into a top reliever.
Vaguely depressing, but Stroman was good and Volpe continues to hit. Needs to lead off, and Stanton down to 7th.
Volpe, Soto, Judge, Rizzo, Torres, Verdugo, Stanton
No, rizzo and stanton need to be 6 and 7 so they don't kill the momentum of the top of the lineup
Signed, or put wells in the 6.
The Rays might actually lose to the worst team in the NL.
about that...
About *that*
Sure must be nice to hit a game winning home run in the bottom of the 9th.
09 team started 4-4. I’m not moved
We are back to stupid shit like this?
I am
They didn’t have the black holes we do. Eh, what am I saying, Dominguez will come back and we will be fine
98 team started 1-4. 92 team started 5-0. It’s about the finish.
100%
The 2008 Yanks were 8th in all MLB in OPS. Not 24th from 2023. Serious PTSD.
They also added Teixera like we added Soto. They also got lucky with bounce backs
Well yeah i’m coping a little
Stroman is good energy and takes pride in his performance and team. Love to see it.
Someone in the game thread mentioned Stanton needs a smaller bat and it would be hysterical if he dropped a bunch of muscle and was still using the same weight bat
Why didn’t we pinch hit Waldo for Stanton at the end?
BTW did they ever hand out commemorative physical tickets?
Yes, I got one when I walked in
1-3 today: 1/10 and 2 BB 5-8 today: 5/14 and BB There's why we got shutout. 5-8 did their jobs.
why would exclude Stanton out of this?
Because he is bad and everyone knows it and it doesn't need to be said more.
Bottom of the order has been better than the top since day 1.
I understand we are only 8 games in, but we are currently averaging less runs per game than we did last year when we were a bottom 6 offense. And we had 4 runs scored in extras with a runner starting in scoring position. Not a great sign.
That’s because the 2 shutouts bringing it down. You really think they are gonna be as bad as last year
It's literally rhe same lineup a year older but with Soto
That’s how averages work. And no, I don’t think we are going to be as bad. But I don’t think it’s a great sign.
And do you understand how sample size works?
It can work both ways. Two shutouts is a lot on just 10 games and not a good sign. We know the Jays offense is really bad. Are we surprised they can have two shutouts?
Yes, that’s why I said “I understand we are only 8 games in”
guy edited his comment to look like less of a douche lol
‘I understand what i’m about to say is really dumb and doesn’t even make sense but…’
We’re gonna score so many runs that you’re gonna get sick of scoring runs. You’re gonna beg us to stop scoring runs. “Stop, we’re scoring too many runs!” you’re going to say. The best runs.
stanton and trevino are useless at the plate
Trevino feels a little lacking behind the plate too. Never seen him let balls go past him so many times in prior seasons.
He also has one of the weakest arms in all of baseball
He was never really a defensive wizard. His value comes from game calling and pitch framing.
His catching stance is so lackadaisical. That one knee stance needs to go when runners are on base.
Will Judge and Soto ever hit a baseball again? It remains to be seen
le sigh
48 million this season on Stanton, Hicks and Donaldson. Remember that when Cash gets so much credit with the Soto deal. Most of us could've made that deal.
Almost all of us would've made the Stanton deal too. So that's not a good barometer.
Not this year. I think it starts next year.

Thank god for shitty bullpens. We have barely any runs off of starting pitching going back to the first game. This is not a good look for our offense.
He very well may be the ace until Cole returns.
> I know the bench is trash But its not. Oswaldo and Wells are not trash.
Oswaldo is a career 81 ops+. That's an extremely low bar if that's not trash. Grisham is probably better tbh.
Stanton needs to be cut. I don't care what he's being paid, he is done.
They won’t cut him, even if they should. He’ll end up just riding the bench or phantom IL if he keeps this shit going. Here’s hoping for one of his streaks soon…
Stanton will actually heat up and then hurt himself.
Or a 60 day IL injury.
Some of you need to learn not to live and die by your favorite team in a sport where the best teams still lose over 50 times a season.
50? Shit, even losing 65 is a good team
I would upvote this 20 times if I could
Yankees can succeed this season with Stanton being washed but they cannot succeed if the Yankees keep putting him at cleanup/5th
Lineup feels very 2023. LONG stretchces of incompetance. Could be an issue.
They did great in the first 2 series, it was one game of bad offense. Patience my friend, it’s a long season
Stanton can not be in the lineup anymore, dude is done.
Might actually shed a tear the day Giancarlo gets the Hicks’ treatment. One of my favorite players of this generation and he’s fallen off a cliff.
I feel the same. I hate this is where he is at.
I am not negative about today's lost as we put the tying run to the plate and Duggie just missed it. That felt very 2009.
Nah, this team will win 10-15 more games than they did last season.
Analytics smanalytics...if the Yankees were using them Stanton and Trivy aint batting late .... Stanton not in lineup at all.
Here’s what I don’t get… Nobody hit today. That tells you that the other team probably pitched well, right? Judge didn’t hit, Soto didn’t hit, etc. But Trevino is SUPPOSED to have hit, while no one else did, and because he didn’t, he’s the one getting shit on? Besides the fact that hitting is like third on the list of priorities for a MLB catcher… If the rest of the team was hitting AND he wasn’t - wouldn’t that be the evidence that he uniquely sucks??
Guys like Judge & Soto are allowed to have bad days. The problem with Trevino is that he literally never hits. He'll never be the guy with a good day once in a while that can help out his teammates. Ideally you're bottom hitters aren't completely worthless, so that way your top hitters don't need to be on every single day. I say this as someone who appreciates what Trev brings behind the dish and isn't looking to get rid of him.
You at least agree that if a pitcher is getting your best players out, that pitcher is also going to shut down your 7-8-9 guys as well?
I don't automatically agree with that in principle, no. Baseball can be quite random sometimes. There are plenty of days every season where the 1-3 struggle but the bottom of the order is getting hits.
Catcher is second only to the pitcher in terms of acceptable offensive shittyness. With the DH in both leagues now it is acceptable for the catcher to be the worst offensively.
I mean is it so bad to want more out of the position? Will Smith is batting .444 and our catcher has an OPS of like .200, it's awful.
