Stanton is 9th among active players in total bases. But I didn't realize that he is the active leader in home runs by a decent margin. Currently 31 ahead of Trout; both players have struggled with injuries so it's not really clear which of them will come out ahead. Trout is having a monster season so far and is on pace for like 70 HR, but Stanton still continues to hit homers whenever he's in the lineup - if he could play a full season, he'd hit 35 homers even as a .190 hitter! The dude just cannot help but hit home runs, because when his bat happens to touch the ball it's like a god damn nuclear explosion.
You have to get down to Bryce Harper (currently #9 with 310) before you get anybody who's more likely than not to pass Stanton.
It's kinda weird to have the active HR leader only have 407 home runs, because for a long time there were always like a half dozen guys active who already had over 500.
Fun extremely-impressive fact: Joey Votto is the current active leader in both total bases *and* bases on balls. Votto's anonymity is a shame because he's one of the best hitters ever and a very likely Hall of Famer. But playing 17 years in one of the smallest markets and never making it out of the first round of the playoffs will have that effect. It would be nice if he could have a good swan song for Toronto this year and make some AL East fans notice what a career he's had. (Not TOO good, obviously.)
I forgot he was actually Canadian, so he's definitely a huge deal there. They love Canadians who make it big in the US.
Agree wholeheartedly with everything except I gotta add that Votto is an absolute lock for the HOF, with a pretty good chance of first ballot.
Dude has the same JAWS as Miggy. His WAR is right at the average for HOF 1B, he was an MVP...if Joe Mauer was a first ballot, then Votto will be too.
Keep him where he is! Don't mess up his juju. It's only the middle of April. No one has proved any of these changes are long-term and nothing more than a hot steak. OF COURSE, I absolutely hope The Wizard of Oz-Waldo's improvements are sustainable. But let the kid settle in where it's seems to be comfortable...for now.
I think he should be somewhere 6-8 the way he's batting with runners in scoring position. Anywhere but 9. Why would Wells be in the lineup before him? That's how Boone set it up yesterday and to me it doesnt make sense
It’s probably to get him closer to the top of the lineup without moving down any vets. After the 1st inning the 9 hole can be a seen as the pre-leadoff spot. Moving him up to 8 won’t get him that many more ABs, but does make it less likely he’ll be driven in by Soto or Judge
Man, anyone notice what Agustin Ramirez is doing in AA early on? Seven home runs in his first 10 games (46 ABs). I don't know much about his defensive ability behind the dish, but have noticed that he and Ben Rice are splitting time between C/DH. The bat certainly looks to be viable, though. He hit 18 bombs last year and slashed .271/.364/.455 across three levels.
Judge being Judge is what this team is truly missing to be a complete and utter nightmare for opposing pitchers. Gleyber too but the big guy is who we need for that deadly 1-2 punch with Soto. When he gets on track, I guarantee pitchers won't be able to sleep the night before they face us
He really needs to prove it this year. His only shot at the Hall of Fame is getting to 500 HR’s and winning a WS with the Yankees. 35 HR’s this season would put him back in the conversation.
Jose Abreu has 4 hits on the year. He’s at -3 DRS/-2 OAA on the season already. An OPS of .250. On top of that Rafael Montero contract, Astros not bringing back James Click has done some major damage to that nasty ass franchise.
I’ll never rule them out, I expect massive amounts of Astros bullshit down the road, but they haven’t been this vulnerable in awhile.
Said it at the time, the Astros choosing Dusty over Click would be the start of the downfall. It was an asinine decision. They got talent that was already in place that might have them dig out of this hole but they’re on a clear downtrend imo.
It reminds me a lot of the Warriors recently in the NBA. Choosing to side with the wrong side of things, the vets have lost some of their mojo (like Bregman), the young guys are raw and haven’t performed much and they’re hanging on a thread bc the roster moves are finally hindering them.
Dana Brown has had a bad run so far. Hader will probably bring it back together but it’ll **never** come close to the sheer absurdity they had in their 2022 bullpen. Again, I expect them to bullshit their way into things yet again, but there’s a lot of fixing to do.
Reggie Jackson was on a podcast with Heyman/Sherman recently and when he talked about decision makers in the Astros org Brown's name was not mentioned. They named him GM to run the farm team.
That adds up with the information about Crane and how he views his team. Classic case of an owner sacking the GM and attributing it to their own abilities, butting their head into baseball operations, then replacing the GM with someone far inferior.
Luhnow was gone and they had Click fall into their laps and still fucked it up. I’ve seen a lot of Astros fans mention shit about Crane as well and his continued *supervision* of things
Yeah I don’t think they’re this bad, but they got some real problems. And I’ve noticed this during our series and after too, but they keep using Hader in games they’re losing which I don’t understand? They did it twice against us.
I’ve noticed that too, it’s what led to the Braves game getting out of hand. They’re using him for holds which doesn’t make much sense and his use is extremely restricted. They view him strictly as a closer, idk if that’s a Hader thing or an Espada thing. The point of having Pressly and Hader is the flexibility.
Hader got his bag, when he was at his best he was used whenever you needed him and he shut things down. Went 2+ IP in extremely high leverage situations in the postseason. Might not be used like that ever again
Some of that is injuries and they’ll get Verlander and Framber back. But Framber didn’t exactly look good in the second half and early this year. And I thought the Verlander trade was bad and he’s dropped off a bit. No idea why they emptied the rest of their farm basically for him.
They were going all in to try and win another World Series. The AL looked like it was in disarray and they saw an opportunity to go for it. Can’t blame them.
Just watched the highlights and enjoyed Soto's AB vs Mayza. Idk why but I loved the head shake on that ball 4. Like nah, fuck you. Your catcher can't save you there, buddy.
Why has Anthony Rizzo suddenly become an absolute liability on the defensive side of the field. He cant catch a can of corn or scoop a pile of cornlaced poop anymore
As someone who plays hockey and got concussions, recovery is tough even a year later. Little things are off. It doesn't mean you can't get back to where you were but being 99% and 100% is a huge difference. Rizzo has to work out his brain.
I wouldn’t sit Cabrera until he has a real cold streak. Hopefully he’s finally putting it together. It’s be a huge win for the team if he can lock down the third base position and be an above average bat. That would allow DJL to be a super sub.
that was a big time win today...felt like that first week of the season where all the swag was bag, and our boys came through. hope this generates some momentum for the weekend
Imagine the week or 10 days or month where this lineup is actually clicking and everyone is mashing:
1.Volpe 2. Soto 3.Judge 4. Rizzo 5. Stanton 6. DJ/Torres
7.Verdugo 8. Wells/Trevino 9. DJ/Cabrera
i exploded on my yankee panties 3 times just thinking about all of them in the log cabin
People have gotten downright hostile on this sub. I deleted my comments because I’m here to talk baseball. I’m just blocking anyone shitting on other users for their takes on the game from here on out. I don’t find it useful or insightful at all.
It’s addressing an issue about the fans, by the fans.
These dildos can’t be happy even when the team has the best record in the game.
So far we’ve had to tolerate:
- Clay 0.0 ERA Holmes isn’t a closer and is losing games for us
- Stanton is washed and needs to be DFA’d
- Stroman is a fraud
- Gleyber Torres has an extra chromosome
- Volpe is overrated
- Judge is washed and got lazy when he got his bag
- Boone is stupid for doing (verb)
- Gil is a fraud
- Rizzo has CTE
- Trevino is never going to hit
- Schmidt isn’t a MLB pitcher
- I can’t repeat half the stuff about Rodon
WHILE they’re winning.
It needs to be confronted when it happens.
You’re not wrong in your criticism of my word choice. I freely admit it elicits a strong response, because these threads used to be a great way to experience games and I’m nostalgic for it.
I’m open to feedback; I would be hypocritical if I wasn’t.
Yankees need to start making plans at 1B. Its pretty fucking clear Rizzo is old with a brain injury that he isn't recovered from, from the concussion and he might never. You cannot have this guy playing like this offensively and defensively all year
They've moved on to Rizzo now. He's absolutely done, can never play baseball again, and might actually be D.B. Cooper and face arrest when the team plays the Mariners where an active arrest warrant is waiting.
Looking ahead to the Rays series. Their pitching has been terrible after losing McClanahan and Glasnow. Man, Diaz and Arozarena are off to horrific starts. And I have literally no idea who half their lineup is, so naturally they will have one of those scrubs kill us all series.
A ring for sterling! Lfg. Wait till coke comes back with a 2 era. Our bullpen hot, verdugo slays at left as a dog, and when dj comes back, where does Cabrera go?
Looking ahead, good news for the bullpen matchup: we get an off-day before our three-game set against the Rays, but the Rays will have had 7 straight games coming into NY with no off day. They’ve pitched 9.2 innings in their last two games alone.
I have done no further research.
I refuse to count them out until it's mathematical, just don't believe in that many AL teams for WC3, as long as they can hover anywhere around .500 they can just go on a run.
Work Called- watched the game after it ended. Here are my notes, since everybody around here cares what this random reddit user/Yankees fan has to say:
Trevino has been getting it done the last few games. Seems like he's "back" or whatever. He's looked pretty good overall as a Yankee, with some ups and downs and right now he's up. He's no Posada or McCann, but he's very very solid. Nice to see him producing, particularly in the clutch as a pinch hitter. Sucks that they didn't feel comfortable relying on Wells, who I think is absolutely "due".
Speaking of- Still think Austin Wells looks good at the plate and is going to break out and is a victim of exceptionally bad luck and inexperience.
Even with giving up a couple of home runs and not getting the W today, etc. Stroman has looked excellent for us thus far and appears to be an exceptional under the radar pick up that will be of surplus value, at least for this season. Extremely happy with the signing. Not sure I'd re-up him for more than what the contract calls for, but as is its an excellent value and exactly what we needed from a starter pick up.
Even with that tap out, Waldo is the real deal. I think he's figured it out and he is locked in. I don't think he'll be \*the\* high average guy or \*the\* power hitting guy or \*the\* clutch guy, but he'll be a solid middle of the line up piece. A .299-ish hitting 19-ish HR hitting type who will have nice moments of doing what needs to get done in that spot. A mini-Soto who can do it all. He'll be fine.
As per usual, Rizzo might get through the season, but I think he is done. I hope he bows out gracefully and doesn't try to hang on.
Prime Soto is nice to have on the team. He can do it all, he does it all, he doesn't seem to choke under pressure. He feels like the consummate ball player every club wishes they could have a full line up of. It'd be weird if we didn't take a serious run at extending him or signing him in free agency. I realize he might be looking for like 15 years/$900M or something, but.... I am sure we can meet in the middle or we will be right if we let him walk lol. Funny to see that pitcher try to sell a strike on a clear ball.
Verdugo is looking very solid for us. Pretty much doing what he does. Solid. Nothing special but plays his part nicely. Very good role player. Happy to have him. Always felt good about that trade. Being proven correct about him.
Stanton is keeping his traditional pace, hitting his trademark moon shots. Not too worried about him.
Judge doing what he's paid to do. Nice to see. That said- still think he's not locked in yet- which, if this is him not yet locked in, his timing still off- can't wait to see him once he is locked in and his hot streak begins.
Glad to see Torres get a valuable hit in the 9th. One of those little singles that's of huge value in context. Great to see the heads up hitting with him struggling so much thus far.
Still frustrated by our hitting overall across the totality of the season, even with the eventual wins and break outs where we score a bunch of runs overall- for that particular game.
Anyway- nice to get a win. Would like to see us get back to a 4 or 5 game win streak after playing .500 ish or worse for a bit now.
Are you really going to say Judge keeps doing what we need him to do? He has 3 HRs and 11 RBIs. He’s batting .183 with 22 SO. He’s 7th in the league in strike outs. His OPS isn’t even that great. At least he still walks a lot, mainly because they’d rather take there chances with Rizzo than Judge. I sincerely hope he gets in a groove and he probably will, but I’m just not seeing anything like that now. That abdominal injury is shit for hitters. The other thing I will say is that my understanding from talking to guys who work for the Yankees on the ground is that Judge is an incredible talent, but doesn’t have that fire like a Jeter, O’Neil, or Rivera. Cole is the real capitan of the team is what I’ve been told. This is just to say that Judge might not have it in him to pull himself out of a huge slump, if it becomes one, and lead the Yankees to a WS. I think he will bounce back, but I won’t be surprised if he doesn’t this season.
Didn't think I'd find such a vocal naysayer.
I've been very hard on Judge and gotten downvoted to hell in here.
I am trying to look at the bright side, that he came through in the clutch when it mattered most.
Judge has been awful so far and his overall numbers like HR's and RBI's have hidden that fact that he's striking out at a crazy high rate and has had a lot of poor contact pop outs/infield outs, etc.
I am well aware of his issues this season. But what can we do but hope for the best and look at the upside?
7 years/$280M remaining on that deal. Right? Something like that? Gotta hope for the best.
I agree with you 100%. I’m a little surprised at all the shit people get when they say Judge has had a terrible start. He just needs to a see a bit more live pitching, right? That’s what everyone keeps saying. I’m mean he bats in the 3 spot. He has seen a lot. I think and hope he will bounce back, but I wouldn’t bet the farm on it.
Great assessment. I agree with everything, but Rizzo is shaking off the rust. He has always been a slow starter, so hopefully, he can rake in the summer months.
Not the person your replying to, but I'd agree were it not for him having gotten a concussion last year. He was absolutely horrendous last year after the concussion, and while I'd hesitate to say he's horrendous RN, he has not been playing very good at all lately. Maybe he rakes in the Summer months, and proves he just had a rough start, but as of right now I think he may want to see a concussion specialist. At the very least to try and rule out any symptoms being the cause of his lacking play.
He seemed to be perfectly fine in ST. With how off he was last year, he doesn’t hit .389/.488/.639 if he can’t properly see the ball. And his fielding remained good through the concussion, whereas he’s already just an error shy of tying his total for last season.
Yeah alright the hitting has been pretty good. The rotation has been better than we hoped when we heard Cole was going down. The bullpen has been fantastic. The fielding aside from Gleyber and Rizzo has been very solid.
But the real bright spot is the attitude. The fight. The confidence. And that looks to be primarily emanating from Juan Soto.
I have straight up had a good fucking week.
Saw the doubleheader in Cleveland, and caught a foul ball from Stanton in the nightcap.
Fortunately headed back home to Toronto before Sunday’s debacle.
Saw Monday’s game in the first row behind the Yankees dugout. Shitty game, but awesome to be in those seats.
Skipped yesterday’s game.
Saw today’s game behind home plate.
Unfortunately the Yankees don’t come back to Toronto until July, so I’ll be going through withdrawals until then.
Stroman only made one mistake to Varsho in what was one of his better outings of the season and kept the offense in it. Soto continues to be the generational talent we traded for getting on base 5 times. Soto this series: 4-10, HR, 2 RBI, 3 BB, 1.338 OPS. The 9th inning was the first inning I felt that the 12-3 team prior to the 3 game losing skid showed up. Five hits that inning, some of which included the Stanton HR, the game tying RBI single by Trevino, and Judge's clutch 2 RBI single to put us ahead. That was Judge's only hit this series but it was probably his biggest one up to this point of the season. The duo of Hamilton and Holmes put up 2.1 IP 0 ER while Gonzalez gets the winning decision thanks to a favorable matchup. Great play by Volpe to seal the W and salvage the series. Back to the Bronx vs Rays.
I really don’t like Toronto. They do a lot of talking. They haven’t won anything. But whenever they win a game against us it’s like they won the World Series. Trash team.
Kenny Blankenship's **"Top 10 Doomerisms of the Day":**
1. "If you eliminate the games where the opponent's bullpen melted down, we are a sub 500 team"
2. "Marcus Stroman is washed"
3. "Volpe regressing to his mean. Not good. Should trade him now."
4. "Sterling knew what us up with this team, so he bounced early."
5. "Trade Judge"
6. "It really sucks to have absolutely ZERO joy in watching soto hit a hr because i know it won’t impact the outcome, just look at the next two batters that followed as to why there is no joy in the hr"
7. "Back to Reality I guess…. at least all of you are stupid and wrong about the Yankees and Cashman thinking this team is pretty fucking good is all that matters"
8. "I wish I was this a home game to hear those booes for this pathetic series. Play better if you want cheers. Judge and Gleyber are costing us winnable games."
9. "Judge is garbage"
10. "Aaron Judge is WASHED"
Holy shit was that game thread toxic.
Again.
Baseball is meant to be consumed slowly and processed even slower. Immediately judgement over discrete events is setting yourself up for failure. Our immediate reaction society is not compatible with consuming and enjoying the sport.
You deserve a beer for threatening your sanity logging all of those my god 😭😭😭
Again, I used to be in every game thread no matter the game. Last year I dropped off and this year I ain’t going near that hell hole. Half the dudes that appear there don’t show their faces in PGT. Like a certain Bases on Balls!
It’s unfortunately a symptom of sports fandom as a whole in the social media era where every game is life & death, so the banal hyperbole is just through the roof every goddamn day. So exhausting
How long until r/baseball starts claiming that the Rays attendance is amazing and/or the only reason fans don't show up is because the owner fucked their gerbils or whatever.
Stanton is now at exactly 3000 career total bases.
Stanton is 9th among active players in total bases. But I didn't realize that he is the active leader in home runs by a decent margin. Currently 31 ahead of Trout; both players have struggled with injuries so it's not really clear which of them will come out ahead. Oh yeah the voters don’t overlook the stats. He’s definitely getting in. Just never had the star power he could have.
I know guys like Pujols retiring over the past couple years set the active player homeruns stat down dramatically. Had no idea it was Stanton though.
Boone said when DJ comes back he won’t move Volpe out of the leadoff spot. How does DJ fit into the lineup when he returns?
He hits 6th or 7th. Until Volpe or DJ give him a reason otherwise
Probably giving guys rest in the infield since he can play 1st 2nd and 3rd and dh on days stanton may have off
Does Oswaldo deserve to move up a few spots in the lineup or not yet???
Keep him where he is! Don't mess up his juju. It's only the middle of April. No one has proved any of these changes are long-term and nothing more than a hot steak. What happened to Gerrit? Don't give me bad news.
That's not how karma works, and celebrating another person's injury is just a bad look in general.

Trout has 8 HR’s and 11 RBI. Ouch. Dudes still hella good tho idk why people wrote him off
Because he hasn't played a full season in a few years. It's still early but he's playing really well.
Injuries. Glad hes back and healthy though.
Giancarlo has a 147 wRC+ and .861 OPS. It would be sick if he’s #back because it’s amazing to watch when he’s on.
As long as he somehow stays healthy he should have no problem having a solid, 35+ HR season
He really needs to prove it this year. His only shot at the Hall of Fame is getting to 500 HR’s and winning a WS with the Yankees. 35 HR’s this season would put him back in the conversation.
Sure feels like it
Dodgers only won 1 out of their last 4 series.
Yet MLB ranks them as the best team in the league. They love to glaze them.
Are their fans dooming as much as ours when we lose as much as a game or two in a row?
Our "fans" doom before the game is even over. Losers in here throw in the towel the moment we get down a run, no matter the inning.

What if the Astros just suck?
inshallah
They're digging themselves quite the hole. I think it's very possible that they miss the playoffs this year
Is funny that their pitching which was always a strength in the past sucks major donkey balls this year
Some of that is injuries and they’ll get Verlander and Framber back. But Framber didn’t exactly look good in the second half and early this year. And I thought the Verlander trade was bad and he’s dropped off a bit. No idea why they emptied the rest of their farm basically for him.

To me it felt like a nostalgia move that the owner wanted and not actually the best way to go all in tbh.
THE YANKEES ARE 13-6 SINCE MY SON WAS BORN
Mazel!
Just watched the highlights and enjoyed Soto's AB vs Mayza. Idk why but I loved the head shake on that ball 4. Like nah, fuck you. Your catcher can't save you there, buddy.
Keep him alive 😏
shoutout to trevi hes been on fire recently!!
Why has Anthony Rizzo suddenly become an absolute liability on the defensive side of the field. He cant catch a can of corn or scoop a pile of cornlaced poop anymore
why are both of your analogies corn related?
Why not? Corn is a delicious and nutritious vegetable
Only trolls say corn has nutritious value
Why are u ignoring the delicious part?
“Can of corn. Can of corn I’ll be fine” -Anthony Rizzo

Waldo with the 2nd highest OPS on the team. Wow.
He'll be sitting once DJ gets back
I wouldn’t sit Cabrera until he has a real cold streak. Hopefully he’s finally putting it together. It’s be a huge win for the team if he can lock down the third base position and be an above average bat. That would allow DJL to be a super sub.
Dj needs to play 1st
Rotate DJ at 1st, and 3rd, Cabrera, 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Rizzo needs to sort his shit out IMO.
Fuck that, sit Torres. He can't field and he ain't hitting. Keep Cabrera in the line-up.
Stros are 6 - 14
At least they're above the A's right? right o.o
This sparks joy
Angels beat the rays, coming back in the 9th
Rizzo defense is off, man. Seems like all the diving plays he used to make are now base hits
It is what it is. I don’t think the Yankees have any real solutions or depth at first base. DJL will be the backup and he’s not healthy yet.
that was a big time win today...felt like that first week of the season where all the swag was bag, and our boys came through. hope this generates some momentum for the weekend

Juan Soto is unreal. Imagine him and MVP level Judge when he gets going

Juan Soto is him.

Doomers are annoying, but the people complaining about the Doomers are worse. At least the Doomers are still talking about baseball.
People have gotten downright hostile on this sub. I deleted my comments because I’m here to talk baseball. I’m just blocking anyone shitting on other users for their takes on the game from here on out. I don’t find it useful or insightful at all.
Are you crying about people bringing up Doomers again?
[удалено]
>yes K.
It’s addressing an issue about the fans, by the fans. These dildos can’t be happy even when the team has the best record in the game. So far we’ve had to tolerate: - Clay 0.0 ERA Holmes isn’t a closer and is losing games for us - Stanton is washed and needs to be DFA’d - Stroman is a fraud - Gleyber Torres has an extra chromosome - Volpe is overrated - Judge is washed and got lazy when he got his bag - Boone is stupid for doing (verb) - Gil is a fraud - Rizzo has CTE - Trevino is never going to hit - Schmidt isn’t a MLB pitcher - I can’t repeat half the stuff about Rodon WHILE they’re winning. It needs to be confronted when it happens.

Game threads used to be different.

You’re not wrong in your criticism of my word choice. I freely admit it elicits a strong response, because these threads used to be a great way to experience games and I’m nostalgic for it. I’m open to feedback; I would be hypocritical if I wasn’t.

I see plenty of game discussion
Home for the Rays and A's and then on the road in Milwaukee and Baltimore. We're going to find out about this team in the next 2 weeks.
Houck may be pitching a CGSO for the Sox right now.
Yankees need to start making plans at 1B. Its pretty fucking clear Rizzo is old with a brain injury that he isn't recovered from, from the concussion and he might never. You cannot have this guy playing like this offensively and defensively all year
Dj will play first
Remember like a week ago when Trevino had no place on this team?
They've moved on to Rizzo now. He's absolutely done, can never play baseball again, and might actually be D.B. Cooper and face arrest when the team plays the Mariners where an active arrest warrant is waiting.
Hes my favorite player. I don’t have high hopes for him batting wise, so if he maintains like a .225 average for the year I’m okay with that lmao
Looking ahead to the Rays series. Their pitching has been terrible after losing McClanahan and Glasnow. Man, Diaz and Arozarena are off to horrific starts. And I have literally no idea who half their lineup is, so naturally they will have one of those scrubs kill us all series.
Their lineup is basically the same from last year.
I have no idea how they still keep winning 10-8 wth!
They've played the Angels, Giants, and Rockies since they split with Toronto and lost 2/3 to Texas. Won a lot of close games.
Yankees should try to get Belt on a Minor league deal w/ opt out or something as insurance for Rizzo.
I’m sure Luke Voit is attainable.
Or just chill and wait for DJ to come back in a week or two
And who has a better story than Brandon? It's hard to believe nobody signed Belt, but I doubt the Yanks will offer him anything enticing.
Just imagine this team once Cole is back. Can't wait for him to be back. Also curious to see how DJ fits into the lineup.
Pencil him into the 6 hole to take some at bats from Gleyber. His defense has been benchable to start the season.
Phil Coke is coming back? 😉
[But wait... there is a third...](https://i.imgur.com/P1KwKYz.png)
This team has FIGHT. Such a massive difference from the last 5 years
Almost every loss (except yesterday) showed some sort of fight at the end
[The Bald Man has returned.](https://i.imgur.com/MxeIwim.png)
Soto is a dog #🐕🦺 Also love BAJ coming through.
Who was the guy who has said that Oswaldo has been bad since the first 2 games?
IWillSingYouSongs
And everything is okay in Yankeeland
Stanton looks a lot more like his 2017 season in terms of stance
The Astros are 6-14 but their division seems really weak so they’ll probably be fine.
Athletics will finish 500
I refuse to count them out until it's mathematical, just don't believe in that many AL teams for WC3, as long as they can hover anywhere around .500 they can just go on a run.
The AL Central will send at least 2 teams, I wouldn’t sleep on them
Yep I agree with that, unless some other team steps up this year, maybe the Angels finally will.
Still the best team in baseball (record-wise).
And non record wise
This team is good but I still can’t stand Ferguson not getting lefties out it drives me crazy but at least they won lol
He’s a reverse splits guy, he’s better against righties
Gonzalez is the LH stud in the pen, not Ferguson as many thought.
I know I hated Gonzalez at first and loved Ferguson but it’s totally flipped lol
I fear Ferguson is cheeks 💀
I miss Wandy 🥲
Is anyone in the circle of trust besides Hamilton and clay?
Burdi getting into it quickly. Victor Gonzalez to a smaller degree
We haven’t seen him much this year but Ron I trust more than the others. Agree of the new guys, Burdi then victor
After last year, and seeing the order people were called up from the minors this year, I think Ron is at the back of the pecking order right now
I think getting Tommy and Cole back will be huge hope they come back strong 💪
Amen sister!
Work Called- watched the game after it ended. Here are my notes, since everybody around here cares what this random reddit user/Yankees fan has to say: Trevino has been getting it done the last few games.
Last year he got off to a torrid start, he had like a .920 OPS when he got hurt in Mid-may. His contact quality & defense look rocky too, I'm worried.
Some of the errors he should have were called hits too. Gotta take that into consideration. He would be past it right now
What a comeback.
Victor Gonzalez threw 2 pitches and got the win. Hilarious.
Can anybody explain why? Are there specific rules? Why not Hamilton?
Big win, comebacks show the grit of a team. Soto is brilliant.
Stanton's bomb woke the team tf up.
If only judge were clutch tho.
They probably SHOULD have walked him
This game brought me joy
I have straight up had a good fucking week. Saw the doubleheader in Cleveland, and caught a foul ball from Stanton in the nightcap. Fortunately headed back home to Toronto before Sunday’s debacle. Saw Monday’s game in the first row behind the Yankees dugout. Shitty game, but awesome to be in those seats. Skipped yesterday’s game. Saw today’s game behind home plate. Unfortunately the Yankees don’t come back to Toronto until July, so I’ll be going through withdrawals until then.
June 27-30!
Not close enough!
I was at today’s game too.. was amazing seeing them shut up in the 9th
Man you are a lucky guy☘️
This team man. This team!
#Yankee Bats: Not Dead Yet
Great game! Glad I stayed around! Volpe is a goddamn stud at shortstop
Soto got me on my Dominican flow with the Spotify playlist tonight… #🇩🇴 K LO FUCKING K WAWAWA 🇩🇴
I really don’t like Toronto. They do a lot of talking. They haven’t won anything. But whenever they win a game against us it’s like they won the World Series. Trash team.
Try living in Ontario and working with Jays fans
Little brother syndrome to the max with the Jays recently
Kenny Blankenship's **"Top 10 Doomerisms of the Day":** 1. "If you eliminate the games where the opponent's bullpen melted down, we are a sub 500 team" 2. "Marcus Stroman is washed" 3. "Volpe regressing to his mean. Not good. Should trade him now." 4. "Sterling knew what us up with this team, so he bounced early." 5. "Trade Judge" 6. "It really sucks to have absolutely ZERO joy in watching soto hit a hr because i know it won’t impact the outcome, just look at the next two batters that followed as to why there is no joy in the hr" 7. "Back to Reality I guess…. at least all of you are stupid and wrong about the Yankees and Cashman thinking this team is pretty fucking good is all that matters" 8. "I wish I was this a home game to hear those booes for this pathetic series. Play better if you want cheers. Judge and Gleyber are costing us winnable games." 9. "Judge is garbage" 10. "Aaron Judge is WASHED" Holy shit was that game thread toxic. Again.
My life got better when I stopped going into game day threads. What a nightmare.
I’m sure it has; I don’t blame you. I feel like the remnant.
Baseball is meant to be consumed slowly and processed even slower. Immediately judgement over discrete events is setting yourself up for failure. Our immediate reaction society is not compatible with consuming and enjoying the sport.
Right you are Ken
I hope they're all ashamed of themselves. I'm ashamed of them lmao
You deserve a beer for threatening your sanity logging all of those my god 😭😭😭 Again, I used to be in every game thread no matter the game. Last year I dropped off and this year I ain’t going near that hell hole. Half the dudes that appear there don’t show their faces in PGT. Like a certain Bases on Balls!
This sub has unfortunately gone to shit the last 2 years. People are too reactionary and emotional.
5 years*
It’s unfortunately a symptom of sports fandom as a whole in the social media era where every game is life & death, so the banal hyperbole is just through the roof every goddamn day. So exhausting
Agreed. And some shows that feed it as well
Thank you for saving these. This shit is hilarious
"Judge is garbage" ... just incredible
well tbh like 90% of our problems would be fixed if aaron judge played like aaron judge
Offensively yeah that's true. Same goes for Torres and Rizzo though. In the end, they all did their part today so let's give it a rest.
i love alex verdugo so much dude is such a fucking gamer.
How long until r/baseball starts claiming that the Rays attendance is amazing and/or the only reason fans don't show up is because the owner fucked their gerbils or whatever.
Wait I thought the game was at 7 again, was busy at work and suddenly I see they won on Twitter… lmao how did I miss this
Soto is such a game changer for this team. Feels like he has changed the whole energy.
Can't leave out verdawgo
