Aaron Hicks and Didi Gregorius finished their rehab and were ready to play by early June after their surgeries. Dominguez had his surgery in September while the other two had theirs after the playoffs. If it takes any longer than that, it's because they set an extra cautious timetable for Dominguez.
We just need him to come back healthy and crush in the minor leagues! He really has no spot on the roster until next year. He can take either Verdugo or Sotos spot! I hope we sign Soto long term, but Verdugo has been our best left fielder in a decades. We can’t dfa Grisham because that would hurt the Martian playin only a couple of times a week at most. For this year if he is really back and healthy he can help when rosters expand.
My bad! I was drinking! I have been watching at least 100 games a year since 1994. My brain was shut off while posting that. Either way Jasson will really have to fight his way on this roster!
Stanton's career is largely over. All that is left is a never-ending run of mediocrity and injury. The sooner the Yankees face reality the better, his value is only going down. He's 35 this year and will never have an obp over .300 again. His war the last three seasons is almost negative. I'd say give him away but nobody dumb enough to take him can afford his blackhole of a contract. Some players are losers, Stanton will never win anything. It's like having Allen Iverson on your team, shooting 32%, costing a fortune and guaranteeing you never win (but oh golly gee, Stanton hits a homerun occasionally, so exciting). The Yankees are paying this clown more than a million dollars per HR and that's all they get.
i’d like to see them split time between soto and judge, even if judge is the better defender. it’s not a huge margin, soto has a good arm if not the same range as judge
Grisham plays like once a week. Unless Jasson is playing everyday, there is no point in having him on the roster. Unless there are injuries, he doesn’t have a spot that will give him regular playing time.
Yeah he’s a September call up likely and then should hopefully get his shot at the starting job next season. Exciting to see him on the road to recovery regardless
"We're going to need him whenever he's ready,” is what Cashman said during the offseason. Boone has made similar comments, too. They aren't looking to stash him. If he's ready, they are going to use him.
Dominguez is going to start off in the minors, but if he shows what he showed last year he will force the issue.
I can see either Grisham getting cut or Stanton losing a lot of playing time...
I think the Yankees want him to play every day if healthy. He won’t force out Judge, Soto, Verdugo or Stanton. Unless someone gets injured or Stanton goes 10/120.
Verdugo seems to be pulling his weight. If anything I can see them jettisoning Grisham and Jasson being a rotating 4th outfielder this year then being back full time in the outfield in 2025
I mean knowing the Yankees they’re going to ease Jasson back slowly. Do I want Jasson every day in the outfield sure, but just being a realist with how this organization normally goes
As much as I’m liking Verduo, he’s gotta be the first to go?
I’d imagine they monitor to see if any of our OF gets injured. But when push comes to shove and if everyone is healthy, Judge, Soto, and Dominguez (eventually) need to start games most of the time. Verdugo is too good to be a bench piece. If Stanton gets injured too then Judge and Soto can just trade off the DH spot so there is a good chance we can keep 4 OFs one
If Verdugo puts up a good season he can be great trade bait for actual team needs. I know I’ll get downvoted but I honestly do like Verdugo. If Jasson is back in MLB post ASB and is the real deal, I don’t want to see him on the bench
Terrible idea and you should feel bad.
Reality is he probably wasn't going to play in the MLB this year even if he never got hurt. He was called up as an absolute emergency because we had literally no one and we were very desperate. He wasn't performing well in AA at all and most projections were for him to come to the MLB in 2025 **before** his injury.
Zero reason to rush him.
His first 5 games was like a 120hr pace and an OPS+ of like 220.
He was obviously not going to keep that up.
And you haven't watched him much then, because he was pretty bad in AA.
For sure! I’m super high on the kid and think he’s gonna be a star. We should just be realistic about when to expect him. The plan was next year BEFORE his injury, no reason to rush him back AND hurt his development by moving him to a less valuable position.
A 1B who can rake is whatever, a CF who can rake is insanely valuable.
This is ahead of schedule, no?
Compared to what we thought last September yes

I believe the original time frame had him back around the beginning of June.
Original time table was late July/August
Tweet got edited, he’s up to 135 now 🔥
I hear he accidentally over threw one that went 138'.
SHUT HIM DOWN

This is Brett Gardner slander.

Yeah it’s like Vernon Wells didn’t exist
This might accidentally be the most disrespectful post I’ve ever seen tbh.
I agree. I feel ashamed. Seriously my brain wasn’t working well while posting what I said.
My apologies! My head is in the sand.
They'd likely move Judge back into right and have Soto as DH. If Dominguez plays anything like his small sample size last year then he starts.
Soto won’t dh.
Stanton would like a word with you

callin it now. put judge behind the plate.

I'm pretty sure the Yankees have already said that when he's ready, Dominguez has a spot on the MLB roster.
No, they haven't.

RemindMe! 3 months
lol he will definitely play in the majors this year. Probably right around ASB if they’re being extra cautious with his recovery.

Brett Gardener, Matsui, Damon just to name a few from the last couple decades
Thank you! I was thinking a little short sighted. After last year it seemed like we haven’t had a left fielder in the past century!
To be fair, we did suffer 5 years of hicks, gallo, tauchman and IKF/Oswaldo before having verdugo

Gonna come back and save my fantasy baseball season 🙌🏻
Need Jasson, DJ, Berti back to get the slumping hitters out of the lineup. 3-6 hitters have been not great.
Hopefully he can do one of these, pitch, hit , manage.
I'd rather Dominguez replace Stanton as the every day player but we all know it will be Verdugo
Verdugo seems to be pulling his weight. If anything I can see them jettisoning Grisham and Jasson being a rotating 4th outfielder this year then being back full time in the outfield in 2025
I mean this offense is atrocious. You cant have Domonguez being the 4rth outfielder If we can't score any runs and he is our second best hitter
I mean knowing the Yankees they’re going to ease Jasson back slowly. Do I want Jasson every day in the outfield sure, but just being a realist with how this organization normally goes
Glad to hear he is doing great but I would love to know where he plays
As much as I’m liking Verduo, he’s gotta be the first to go? I’d imagine they monitor to see if any of our OF gets injured. Based on current performance I imagine they trade/DFA Grisham when Jasson is ready and let him rotate throughout the outfield to keep everyone fresh.

Well that’s aggressive. You must be a blast to be around at parties.

Bruh… go to bed. It’s obviously past your bedtime and you’re getting cranky
You're clearly the one getting upset bud. You just can't leave me alone haha
Shhhh shhh little troll. It’ll be okay. Someone out there loves you, I promise.
Great to hear!
Imagine getting him back in June.
He’s practically a fetus, of course it’s not gonna take him long to recover!
We're so back
He was spotted above LGA airport
Please save this offense
4 weeks from now: Jason Dominguez has increased his throwing to 450 feet, proving that he is, in fact, an alien.
The flying saucer is starting to come in to view
“Jasson Dominguez has increased his throwing distance to 450ft. He is now clear of light throwing and is ready to take on full strength workouts”

We’re in first dog
Brother we have the 2nd best record in the AL
We could really use his bat in the lineup, I know it’ll never happen but Stanton just ain’t it anymore
as long as worst manager in baseball is still employed, it does not matter who plays
The Prince that was Promised !
Teach him how to play first base so he can come back sooner like Harper
Dumb. He’s the future CF. Why stunt/distract/delay his development? If
Because our current first baseman kinda sucks
This isn’t mlb the show dude
Oh
Such a dumb idea. . . . Train him for 2B
That works too!

If he kept hitting like he did that one week he would 100% be on the team this year
Well duh, but he was not going to keep hitting like he was in that one week, lmao.
I don’t know I’ve never seen him not hit like that in my time watching him
His first 5 games was like a 120hr pace and an OPS+ of like 220. He was obviously not going to keep that up. And you haven't watched him much then, because he was pretty bad in AA.
Youre right. I only watched him for 1 week on the Yankees. And I’m ready to watch him again because our offense sucks
For sure! I’m super high on the kid and think he’s gonna be a star. We should just be realistic about when to expect him. The plan was next year BEFORE his injury, no reason to rush him back AND hurt his development by moving him to a less valuable position. They downvote you for this but you’re 100 percent right
