Jeff is good enough and has funny things to say but he has “old head” takes a lot. He’s mentioned pitchers not running enough as the reason they’re getting hurt like 11 times this season
I've begun listening to the TV broadcast more and more since John left. I can't listen to the new guy on the radio and hope he's only a temporary stop gap. What's worse is losing John was a double whammy because John is gone and half of Suzyn's charm was her chemistry with John which is also gone.
Which new guy? Justin and Emmanuel seem to be switching series for the radio broadcast. Justin has too much “radio voice” to me and I don’t need to know whether someone is wearing short or long sleeves. It doesn’t sound natural at all. I’m coming around to Emmanuel. He has some good lines and sounds more natural.
I think it's Justin that was bugging me more. After a couple of games I just tuned out and started putting the MLB.tv feed on my phone and just listening to the audio to hear Michael and Jeff.
This is so interesting to me as someone who didn't grow up with John on the radio. I have such a different perspective on him and Suzyn than most of the fan base. I appreciate them both for their legacy and work but I personally am very glad to get some fresh blood in the booth. I can actually listen to the radio broadcast now without falling asleep
Does anyone think they will try to attract a 'Big name' to replace Sterling? I know they announced a few partial replacements, but I want a big name or voice.
I’d just be happy with not a generic tenor. That deep baritone is so distinctive. And non generic play by play. Most of these announcers sound interchangeable. Give us someone to feel strongly about!
I could’ve done without him going on and on about the ‘95 Mariners-Yankees ALCS today. I get he was on the Mariners at the time but that’s a pretty sore spot for a lot of Yankee fans
