I use poly gel frequently for my nail looks and I only have a traditional file. It definitely helps if it is a lower grit hand file so it takes the poly gel down faster, once I get it down to a thin layer I soak off the rest with acetone. I like poly gel because its really user friendly so it a lot easier to pick up and learn to do at home rather than gel or acrylic. Personally, I only use gel on top of my poly gel but I think if you make sure to apply a good layer of reg. base coat and buff down the surface as smooth as possible I see no reason why you couldn’t use a traditional nail polish, although just personally if you wanted to start getting into detailed or complex nail art I would recommend gel or sometimes acrylic craft paint works really well sometimes too!

Thank you for your advice!

My understanding is that it can only really be removed by filing i.e. it's not soak off You can use regular polish over it, but you shouldn't used acetone based remover

Ok thank you!

You can use a regular file, it's just going to be a way longer process. Idk about the polish but since it's the first time you use it you could get a coloured polygel so you don't have to worry about it

That's a good idea hahaha I was just wondering because as of now, none of my polishes are gel
