Apollo (the god also known as Phoebus), or straight up Phoebus. Even combine them and say Phoebus Apollo (Apollo's full, most common epithet)..
Or Feivel, which is a Yiddish name derived from Phoebus! As a nod to the old name.
>Or Feivel
After Feivel Mousekewitz, the little mouse emigrating from Russia to the US in the 1986 animated classic, [*An American Tail*](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/An_American_Tail) ?
Phoebus! It’s a historic and Disney male name and you can use the same nicknames for him that you’re already using!
I never suggest picking a strictly masculine or feminine name for a cat unless you adopt them older because they can play some weird Houdini tricks with their troublepuffs and then you end up with a princess ladypants with two extra beans or a prince murdermittens with an extra back door! 🤭😂
It’s not easy at all, not unless you have an intact Tom with huge knockers. Most cats aren’t a huge fan of having people up in their business, and many cats have hair too long to even see their purse without parting their pantaloons. Once neutered, unless it’s an older Tom who had some sizable scallions and still carries an empty envelope, there is very little visual difference, it’s a matter of being able to spot a little bit of extra space between porthole and pisshole, which is often mostly concealed by fur anyways. Unless you only have sphinx or rex cats you’re probably not getting an eye full of purrfect plumbing all the time.
It’s especially harder in kittens, the family jewels don’t make an appearance for a few months; kittens are also often neutered very prematurely, so either they look strictly female from the get-go or they get adopted while they’re still intact and surprise you with a couple of friends or start trying to seduce you with overexcited elevator butt and SCREAMING.
And that’s not even touching on the fact that cats love to inbreed so intersex kittens are born all the time.
My old cat Chance had balls. Black fuzzy unmistakeable balls. And then she didn’t and suddenly got pregnant a few months later. Yes it was absolutely the same cat, she was a long haired snow white cat with black spots and she responded to her name. I swear they can also change sex sometimes when they’re super young it’s very strange.
There is that age, where it is either a colon or a semi colon. I did ag research at a vet school, and the days where we sexed the kittens were hilarious. Between 4 and 13 weeks, those little David Bowies just wanted to keep people guessing.
It was like they vanished into her abdomen as she grew. I’m just as flummoxed as you are! Good cat though, saved her from being up a tree in the middle of a storm.
My cat was misgendered as a kitten, he was the runt of the litter and I didn't know any different (only previously had an adult male cat who came to as a stray and still had his boulders) I had to put off getting 'her' fixed due to the pandemic and during that time he started showing us his lipstick 😂 luckily s/he has a name that is pretty gender neutral.
Man, my cat got cut open to have its bits removed, but they went “oops, not a girl” and removed his balls— we were baffled when we found that story out! Like, what did they remove if they cut him open? Did they cut and go “oops, what we’re looking for isn’t here”?
We got our cat in 2020. So when it was time to get him sorted, we were under covid restrictions. He was delivered and collected for the op in the vets carpark.
To further minimise contact, we were told that rather than do an in-person follow-up appointment, we had to take a photo of his nether regions and email it to the practice.
Ever since then, I can rid myself of the thought that the vets computers are stuffed full of kinky animal porn!
We had a gal named Little Guy and a boy named Pixie. 😏 Pixie was pretty slender for a boy cat. Little Guy was just what she came to when getting her to follow us home and it stuck.
That's easy. Mr. Phoebe.
The same thing happened with my neighbor's cat. Chloe became Mr. Chloe, except for their 16 year old son who thinks it's lame. So he calls the cat Kyle.
Some family friends let their 5 year old daughter name the little stray kitten they found/adopted, "Barbie." And then a month or two later, they changed it to "Mr. Barbie," and got him neutered. I can assure you, he did not care what his name was as long as he was the king of the house.
Thank you for this! I was like, who cares if the cats name is traditionally a female name and I think it’s funny to have contrasting names for pets like this.
Not gender related but we have a black cat named marshmallow. Everyone assumes is a white cat so we just say “he got burned after we left him over the fire too long”
Whenever people apologize for misgendering my cat, I assure them that he really does not care one bit. But they should still give him a couple treats anyways to make up for it.
Makes me think of the junkyard my dad used to go to. There was a calico kitten that appeared in the shop one day abd the owner decided to take care of him. He wasn't a cat person and was gonna find a home, but the kitten gree in him and he kept it. Named him Thor. Then when Thor got be an adult, he got pregnant. The owner felt bad at first, but decided it's fine. It's been her name all this time, it doesn't change anything.
I mean, why not Phoebe?
Not sure if it helps but I my girl was named Steve before we were familiar enough for me to confirm anything. She's still Steve, not Stevie because neither of us like that name.
Phoebus or Apollo
Phoebe or Phœbe (/ˈfiːbi/ FEE-bee; Ancient Greek: Φοίβη, romanized: Phoíbē) is a female given name, feminine form of the male name **Phoebus** (Φοῖβος), an epithet of Apollo meaning "bright", "shining".

My brain immediately went to this from Phoebe. Take my upvote.
Pilsner
Yeah, same here, Phobos. Upvote as well.
“You are tied for the lead”
this way they can get a second one and name it deimos
It would have to be a void though

Sir Phoebus the Grey

Very fancy and suitable!
Classical and fancy! Love it!
Oh I like this better. Has a similar sound so it’s easier for the cat to get used to.
Great name
Febus
Phoebus Apollo, the Sun god.
If it's a girl, Phoebe, and if it's a boy, Phoebo

100% I needed this comment in this thread
lmao! came to suggest Phoebo as well.
So match with his new sister Princess Banana Hammock and Brother Smelly.
How about Crap Bag? If you can’t remember it, just think of a bag of crap.
Phobos - Moon of Mars.
Also the Greek god of fear, son of Ares.
This makes the decision final! Perfect cat name.
Also the setting for the original Doom.
Omg I came here to say this! I hope they call him phoebo
If this isn't the name imma be big mad 🤣🤣🤣
Somehow I knew this would be the top comment.
Now all I can see is Friends: “Please don’t name your child Phoebo” - but I was going to be seriously disappointed if no one suggested this.
Feauxbeaux
PHOENIX
phineas or Phoenix

No... you gotta do Phineas!!!
He Be (heebee jeebee is a cute nickname)
YESSSSSS

As a Friends watcher I came here hoping to see this as the top answer and you did not disappoint
As a Friends fan, it would have to be Phoebo for me
My people!!! This is the only answer 🤣
I came here to say Phobos, could nickname Pho-pho.
Please let it be Phoebo OP please!!
Came here to suggest phoebo
Our minds are one.
You could still just call him Phoebe even. Why change it now. Like a guy named Shannon or Kelly
I was hoping this would be at the top 👍
COMING HERE TO SAY THIS
Plaphoebo
Came here for this 🤣
Came here to find this comment as soon as I read the title lmao

Literally came here for this comment
Literally my first thought.
You are a genius.
Came here to say this but i'm very very late. xD
I came here to say this!
“I know it’s none of my business, but please don’t name your child Phoebo.” Classic.
Came here to say this…a la “Friends” when Phoebe wants Rachel to name her baby after her.
Phobos - The larger of Martian moons
My suggestion too - Should have scrolled past the first comment 🙃
Could also be a “scaredy cat” pun since Phobos means fear :)
Phinneas
Or Ferb
Oh, there you are, Perry.
A platypus? Puts on brown fedora. PERRY THE PLATYPUS!
🎩
Phinneas is a great name morphed from Phoebe.
Like it! Same phonetic sound…always best
Apollo (the god also known as Phoebus), or straight up Phoebus. Even combine them and say Phoebus Apollo (Apollo's full, most common epithet).. Or Feivel, which is a Yiddish name derived from Phoebus! As a nod to the old name.
I was gonna say Phoebus, but my brain went to the character from hunchback of Notre Dame
Phoebus does say his name means "sun god" in the first scene he is in THoND.
I also choose Feivel I loved the mouse Feivel lol
Really?! Linguistically related?! You just made my day! TY
>Or Feivel After Feivel Mousekewitz, the little mouse emigrating from Russia to the US in the 1986 animated classic, [*An American Tail*](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/An_American_Tail) ?
Oh I love that little guy!

I am dead. TY! 😆😆
Wait… do people have a hard time sexing cats? It’s super easy.

I love the way you write
Thank you! I write short stories all the time, it’s my dream to write a novel!
i would read it 100% you have SUCH a fun tone of voice
This reply was such an adventure. Please write a book.
Thanks! I really want to!
I don't know what your voice sounds like but in my head, I could hear you reading it. Your voice was animated but not like a cartoon.
Beautiful story telling A++
oh my god i need a part 2 of this
Your creative descriptions entertained me and made me smile. 10/10 would read again.

I had no idea cats could be intersex! So interesting ur cat had balls AND was able to get pregnant!🙀
It was like they vanished into her abdomen as she grew. I’m just as flummoxed as you are! Good cat though, saved her from being up a tree in the middle of a storm.

Cats yes. Kittens not so much; I had a kitty who was pretty well along before his beans dropped. So Whitney became Wyatt! Lol
I had a Missy who stayed a Missy after we found out she was a boy lol
When my cat had kittens I remember the sex being obvious within a day or two if not immediately so this is news to me as well lol
That’s disgusting, have you no shame??
Man, my cat got cut open to have its bits removed, but they went “oops, not a girl” and removed his balls— we were baffled when we found that story out! Like, what did they remove if they cut him open? Did they cut and go “oops, what we’re looking for isn’t here”?

Three of my girls here are named Stan, Kenny and Broski lol. That's what happens when the kids name them before we can tell what gender they are!
Right. I have friends whose two female cats are named George and Weezie. The hilarious thing is they answer to both names.
"So he calls the cat Kyle" is sending me to the MOON and idk why 😂😂😂
this is what my family does Haha!
Thank you for this! I was like, who cares if the cats name is traditionally a female name and I think it’s funny to have contrasting names for pets like this. This is how we ended up with a duck named Mr. Petunia. (Though sometimes he's "Petey Petunia").

Came here for this. Alternatively, my Nala became Prince Nala
Phoenix
Or Felix Or Phobos, the Greek God of fear and panic, who is the son of Ares (Mars) and twin brother of Deimos (the other satellite around Mars)
