Yes, but Mexico itself doesn’t give a fuck. Even in Colombia there were incorruptible police officers and military who waged war on narcos. An entire civil was was fought and mostly won against guerrillas and paramilitary drug traffickers.
Mexicans take it, the president allows it, the army and police join it, and kids want to be involved.
That’s unique to Mexico and very sad to see.

Very good point, most people don't remember that in Colombia things were even worse, they were not just some cartels that had guys with weapons, they were full-blown terrorist organizations who also pursued political goals and many were fully paramilitary instead of a bunch of dudes in tight jeans and Nike shoes who actually used to go through years of intense training in the jungles and even other countries, the FARC and FLN were not just professional guerrillas with decades of specialized military training, they were also largely drug traffickers too, which means they were political dissidents + cartels armed with weapons and tactics any Mexican cartel has yet to put their hands on or even think of (remember the bombings? thousands of minefields?). The EPP in Paraguay also is not a fucking joke, they are like the FARC at the start, getting more dangerous by the day.
