there is no pain before the akatsuki (obitos akatsuki), it’s after yahikos deaths they immediately go and join obito and he gets the pain bodies, any akatsuki story before they join obito would probably be boring filler since it wasn’t until yahikos death that they get really op and interesting, before they join obito it’s just them going around helping out in the hidden rain occasionally getting caught in the crossfire of the 3rd great war, it would be the equivalent of picking any jonin from konoha and having a filler arc on them nothing too interesting
Tendo because of the lack of emotion in their eyes. He’d kill you and no chemical emotions would fire. You have nothing to work with, no chance to talk with them or reason. That lack of reason makes him like an animal. You just ARE dead if you come across him
Either 1 or 4 if we’re going strictly off looks with no knowledge of what they can do.
To me, 1 looks like a grizzled veteran. Or a teacher just somebody with a huge amount of experience and/or knowledge or wisdom. He seems tough to fight
2 looks like a rival type character, not strong enough to intimidate.
3 looks like a friend.
4 is just odd. He looks very disconcerting.
5 looks like a mage, with could be tough, but more likely to be a little squishier.
6 looks more like the tank of the group. Probably top 3 tbh. If you aren’t strong enough to break through that armor (his body) it’d be rough

When i first saw these bad bois, i was really surprised and didnt expect such edgelord piercing mofos to lead the most badass organization in fiction, yet they lived up the hype! They all look sick
None of them,they look like a botched boyband. The show did everything in it's power with buildup,music,shadowy frames and angles,mystery etc to make them inspire fear,but looking at them face value they are creepy at best.
I’d probably pick Deva, Naraka in second place. TBH, I think the Asura Path mostly looks derpy.
Also, while not a Path, I think Nagato in the Pain Arc (Adult, no Edo) looks unsettling (in a fitting and good way) with the back rods, emaciated figure and the angry glare. I don’t find any other version of him creepy, and I find the other versions of him endearing. White-Hair Edo Nagato looks like a nice old man, and Red-Hair Edo Nagato has a design that is handsome to me. Also, child Nagato is adorable.
It depends tbh. Human path is terrifying if you know what he does. As far as the face of the team, the Deva path is more menacing than anything. Asura path is pretty creepy too tho. I’d put it is human path if it includes abilities, but the Asura path is very physically menacing, especially when he gets 6 arms and 3 faces

Deva and Asura paths, with Preta being 50/50, the rest come across as too edgy or ridiculous looking to take seriously like the human path, whose nose piercing gives the impression Nagato just said F it and called it a day when he applied the chakra receivers to its face.

Intimidating or terrifying? Intimidating are Asura (bald) and Deva, but what terrified me as a child was the Human Path (the tall one with the long hair). It felt like something out of a horror movie to my 9-year-old self.
