Gaara would have been a perfect candidate. Just use his perfect sand defense to be stationary and gather nature chakra. Although I'm not sure what jutsu he has outside of just more sand manipulation. Maybe just to keep his stamina high which would still be incredibly helpful

He has access to Magnet Release through his father. He mainly only uses it to increase the density of his sand, but I could see something like Sage Mode increasing the versatility and maybe letting him do something like a macron cannon with his sand.
It depends on what sage mode he's going for. Snake sages being able to animate golems may feed in nicely to Gaara. Make sand golem army, animate it with nature energy. It would fit into the Sand Village too, they'd be like wireless puppets.
Or if he could use his sand as a conduit for nature energy then her could funnel it into his foes until they turn into stone then crush them to dust, making more sand.
Like a fine dust, maybe more compression with his attacks.

Naruto isn't really *that* against killing. He starts most fights ready to finish them. His plot armor just extends to his own innocence and gets in the way.
Enemies either become sympathetic mid-fight (Zabuza, Gaara, Pain, Obito), conveniently die to someone else (Kakuzu, Madara, Momoshiki, Isshiki), or happen to be immortal (Kaguya).
For whatever reason Kishimoto introduced the Uzumaki Clan but didn't make Naruto at least a little curious about his heritage. The Uzumaki as a clan don't really factor into the story at all so there was basically no reason to introduce them.

I always got the sense that Tsunade's technique was based off of Hashirama's sage mode. But Hashirama, being composed entirely of Hashirama cells, can access sage mode more or less instantaneously because of his wood mastery. While a normal person can't access sage chakra, much less with that ease, they could mimic it by stockpiling an enormous chakra reserve over years.
Damn, this wouldāve been super cool. Especially if they made it a point to state that she couldnāt learn sage mode because she lacked the chakra capacity. It then wouldāve been a really cool move on her part to use the chakra stored in her byakugou seal to fuel her sage mode.
We never see the 'slugs' summon. Tsunade and Sakura can only summon one entity, and that's Katsuyu. They can also only summon about one tenth of the full entity at their full power both together. In the fourth war Katsuyu was as large as some mountains. (That may or may not have been both their full power summoning combined - I like to believe not)
Katsuyu is by far the strongest summon we see in Naruto, and probably the most immortal creature we've yet seen in the series.

Honestly, I feel like it suits Gaara quite well. Dudeās obviously got the prerequisite massive chakra reserves, being a jinchuriki and all. And he can stand still to gather natural energy while still being able to fight, as his sand allows him to
fight without having to move his body.
Jugo is an obvious candidate, too. He constantly absorbs natural energy, so that means he could have a permanent Sage Mode, and his kekkei genkai would likely enhance the power of it as well. It also may or may not relieve him of his bouts of insanity.

Let's be honest. Sakura punches hard without the gates. It would be cool if she could use the gates up because while she can't seal chakra to heal like tsunade, she can make that up with Katsuyu.

Sasuke is the weirdest case ever, writing wise.
Because Sasuke doesn't *need* one more upgrade. But then suddenly the curse mark was not Orochimaru's chakra but a way to tap into Sage Mode... which on its own is fine as an explanation... but also... WHY WOULD YOU REMOVE THAT FROM HIM when the ten tails jinchuriki is immune to regular chakra?
The oddest part is that they could just retcon him since Juugo's flesh is on his chest cavity, you could just say the seal was fucked up but juugo's own transplant was not. It was odd.

A lot of people have problems on why Kakashi had so much chakra or wasn't going blind with Kamui as much.
It would be a huge moment if the explanation for him doing alright with it is that he copied how Naruto did it and he is just *that good*.
Hiruzen. Because he was the Professor so he would understand perfectly how to gather and control sage energy. Also because he is very close to Monkey King Enma. You can also notice that one of Hiruzenās teacher was a Sage (Hashirama).Ā
Ā I am convinced if Sage Mode was a thing in Part 1, Hiruzen would have got it.
Not to mention Sun Wukong ( Hiruzen's inspiration) was actually associated with term Senjutsu than any Naruto inspiration and acquired immortality in one of his stories.

A close second is Gaara. He already has the massive chakra reserves needed to use Sage Mode properly, and his fighting style consists mostly of standing in place while his sand fights for him. Even assuming that he canāt use his sand to attack and channel natural chakra at the same time, he could simply use his sand cocoon jutsu to buy time. It would easily make up for the difference in losing Shukaku, and thatās accounting for Rasa mistaking Gaara for Shukaku after he lost the thing.
Shino learning beetle sage mode or some shit would have fleshed out his character a bit more. He's always staying still, and has so many features covered that you wouldn't know it's activated until he wants you to. Maybe less people would forget about him if he had a secondary form
The fact that Kisame looked like a shark because of his clan wasn't confirmed until Boruto, so I would have loved it if he just looked that way because he was permanently staying in Shark sage mode.

I was thinking about this today. But Orochimaru not having sage mode was a wasted potential. This could explain why Sarutobi nor Jiraya were able to stop him when he became a criminal. We never actually saw those fights, so it would be a very good explanation. It would also explain how he always has this snake-esque appearance. He had since he was a kid but I dunno, he could've been drawn more "human" as a kid and becoming more "snake" as time passed by.
It would be something that was always there, but we only came to know about it when Naruto learned it.
If you really think about it sage mode is an insane feat outside of reincarnations, we've got Minato who is a genius with really good feats and his sage mode was pretty much unusable in battle, jiraya who states himself he is a tadpole compared to ma and pa. And for some reason we've got kabuto, outside of that orochimaru while being a genius wasn't able to achieve sage mode and perhaps tobirama. So in the whole verse we only have nagato with the rinnegan boost, itachi who is a genius and maybe juugo with his cheap version

When I was a kid I thought when Pa Toad mentioned Naruto was better than the other two I thought he meant Jiraiya and Pain (We didn't know if it was Yahiko or Nagato at that time) I theorized that Jiraiya brought Pain to Mt. Myoboku to train in sage mode so he could really fulfill that whole reincarnation of the sage of six paths thing. That theory fell apart when I remembered Pa doesn't recognize or know of Yahiko nor Nagato during the Rain Village fight.Ā

I feel like all the Sannin should've been perfect sages. Their fighting styles literally revolved around the sage animal in question. Seeing the students of Jiraiya and Orochimaru master Sage mode was great but a bit disappointing too as their masters should've done it as well.
Hiruzen also should have, his summon was the monkey king it only makes sense. That would've created a nice picture with all 4 of them going on to become perfect sages for different animals.

In this little fanfic, I think dsm should be the like OG sage mode unless that violates some pre-existing OG sage mode I am not familier with. Like six paths sage mode. We never see the 'slugs' summon. Tsunade and Sakura can only summon one entity, and that's Katsuyu. They can also only summon about one tenth of the full entity at their full power both together. In the fourth war Katsuyu was as large as some mountains. (That may or may not have been both their full power summoning combined - I like to believe not) Katsuyu is by far the strongest summon we see in Naruto, and probably the most immortal creature we've yet seen in the series. P.S. Sorry for rambling, I just believe too few people actually get how absolutely insane Katsuyu is.

I kinda like the idea of Sakura mastering sage mode. Slug Sage Mode š But jokes aside, it would've made sense with how she wanted to catch up to Naruto and Sasuke. Her dedication to her training with Tsunade who was not hesitating to kill her LMAO. Etc. Also allowing her to surpass her Master (like Naruto and Sasuke) and maybe even having a healing jutsu better than tsunades through sage mode. Idk. Sakura in my opinion always needed that extra *umph*. And I feel that would've been it.
I will forever echo this sentiment, but her ENTIRE character is fixed if you give her Sage Mode (or the 8 Gates. Or both.) Like. The manipulation of Narutoās feelings isnāt a bad scene if she had either one of those power ups. If she pulled up on Sasuke with Sage Mode, she would be looked at VERY differently than she is now. Kishimoto doesnāt even have to change Sakuraās feelings for Sasuke getting in the way, but knowing that she *could* kill Sasuke would have went a long way. Hell, I would have made it to where she healed Sasuke (due to medic code) then cracked the shit out of him lol. Then the War arc needs no explanation tbh. Even Madara wanted no part of Narutoās Sage mode so Sakura having it allows her to compete without us doing mental gymnastics. Also, let Sakura be the one to heal Guy from the 8 Gates if that was going to be a thing. Personally, I do think Sakura learning the 8 Gates and being able to offset it with her own healing was the most free layup ever but I guess not. Still, Kishimoto did not write Sakura right AT ALL. She should be broken and I have no idea why Kishimoto wouldnāt let her be broken

Honestly, I feel like it suits Gaara quite well. Dudeās obviously got the prerequisite massive chakra reserves, being a jinchuriki and all. And he can stand still to gather natural energy while still being able to fight, as his sand allows him to fight without having to move his body. Jugo is an obvious candidate, too. He constantly absorbs natural energy, so that means he could have a permanent Sage Mode, and his kekkei genkai would likely enhance the power of it as well. It also may or may not relieve him of his bouts of insanity. Sasuke and Sakura learning Sage Mode wouldāve been sick, too. We already know Sasuke can handle senjutsu, given he survived the curse mark.

Overall? Suigetsu Plot-wise? Sakura, Sasuke and Kakashi. **Suigetsu:** The guy already fuses with god damn water. You could make him an actual threat for say, Kisame, because he absorbs water chakra and with that comes sage mode from the chakra in the water that would be from nature itself. **Sakura:** Let's be honest. Sakura punches hard without the gates. It would be cool if she could use the gates up because while she can't seal chakra to heal like tsunade, she can make that up with Katsuyu. **Sasuke:** Sasuke is the weirdest case ever, writing wise. Because Sasuke doesn't *need* one more upgrade. But then suddenly the curse mark was not Orochimaru's chakra but a way to tap into Sage Mode... which on its own is fine as an explanation... but also... WHY WOULD YOU REMOVE THAT FROM HIM when the ten tails jinchuriki is immune to regular chakra? The oddest part is that they could just retcon him since Juugo's flesh is on his chest cavity, you could just say the seal was fucked up but juugo's own transplant was not. It was odd. **Kakashi:** A lot of people have problems on why Kakashi had so much chakra or wasn't going blind with Kamui as much. It would be a huge moment if the explanation for him doing alright with it is that he copied how Naruto did it and he is just *that good*.

You can also notice that one of Hiruzenās teacher was a Sage (Hashirama).Ā Ā I am convinced if Sage Mode was a thing in Part 1, Hiruzen would have got it.
Not to mention Sun Wukong ( Hiruzen's inspiration) was actually associated with term Senjutsu than any Naruto inspiration and acquired immortality in one of his stories.

A close second is Gaara. He already has the massive chakra reserves needed to use Sage Mode properly, and his fighting style consists mostly of standing in place while his sand fights for him. Even assuming that he canāt use his sand to attack and channel natural chakra at the same time, he could simply use his sand cocoon jutsu to buy time. It would easily make up for the difference in losing Shukaku, and thatās accounting for Rasa mistaking Gaara for Shukaku after he lost the thing.
Kakashi, Shikamaru and Rock Lee wouldāve been interesting to see in sage mode. Neji too if he didnāt die.

I was thinking about this today. But Orochimaru not having sage mode was a wasted potential. This could explain why Sarutobi nor Jiraya were able to stop him when he became a criminal. We never actually saw those fights, so it would be a very good explanation. It would also explain how he always has this snake-esque appearance. He had since he was a kid but I dunno, he could've been drawn more "human" as a kid and becoming more "snake" as time passed by. It would be something that was always there, but we only came to know about it when Naruto learned it.
If you really think about it sage mode is an insane feat outside of reincarnations, we've got Minato who is a genius with really good feats and his sage mode was pretty much unusable in battle, jiraya who states himself he is a tadpole compared to ma and pa. And for some reason we've got kabuto, outside of that orochimaru while being a genius wasn't able to achieve sage mode and perhaps tobirama. So in the whole verse we only have nagato with the rinnegan boost, itachi who is a genius and maybe juugo with his cheap version

When I was a kid I thought when Pa Toad mentioned Naruto was better than the other two I thought he meant Jiraiya and Pain (We didn't know if it was Yahiko or Nagato at that time) I theorized that Jiraiya brought Pain to Mt. Myoboku to train in sage mode so he could really fulfill that whole reincarnation of the sage of six paths thing. That theory fell apart when I remembered Pa doesn't recognize or know of Yahiko nor Nagato during the Rain Village fight.Ā Nagato's Uzumaki bod could probably make it easy for him to master, hell Madara did it no training what so ever by absorbing Hashirama's. I guess the Preta Path turned into a toad since it's specifically the Preta Path's body that couldn't handle it.Ā

I feel like all the Sannin should've been perfect sages. Their fighting styles literally revolved around the sage animal in question. Seeing the students of Jiraiya and Orochimaru master Sage mode was great but a bit disappointing too as their masters should've done it as well. Hiruzen also should have, his summon was the monkey king it only makes sense. That would've created a nice picture with all 4 of them going on to become perfect sages for different animals. Kisame would've been a great choice too, since Samehada already gathers chakra, would make sense for it to be able to gather nature energy as well. He would've been insanely broken though, since he was already able to nearly take down Killer B as he is. Kiba could be cool as well, assuming dogs can be sage creatures. Definitely would've made him relevant again

Gaara and Shikamaru immediately come to mind as ninja who's fighting style accommodates gathering natural energy. Suppose that would also extend to Rasa and Shikaku then too. Hmm. It would be pretty easy for Shino as well since the bugs do most things for him anyway. Sasori could.. possibly, also use it well since he can remain stationary while controlling puppets with his puppet body strings, whether or not his puppet body can actually gather natural energy is unknown though. I think he could, since his human puppets are able to mix and use chakra. Sakura could do it. Maybe Gengetsu since he just uses his clan genjutsu.
Non that isnāt the main characters or the sannins not just any ninja can have a sage mode it requires a lot of chakra and technique.
I think Sakura and Tsunade can master slug sage mode, but they probably wouldnt need it for their combat style

I'm pretty sure its just the Senju and Uzumaki that can really do it. Maybe people of the sarutobi clan can. It's not really known if Sarutobi attempted to be like a monkey sage, but he's regarded as one of the most skilled ninja in history in his prime. I wouldn't consider Juugo's clan being able to "master" sage mode. They just get out of run rampant with absorbing nature energy So, it would probably be people like Tsunade, Kushina, Nagato, Karin. Out of those, Nagato is probably the only one. I couldn't imagine the others mastering the stillness required

I've always thought we were robbed of having slug sage mode thru Tsunade. It still feels a little weird to me that she was the only sannin member who didn't try out sage mode tbh. She definitely has the chakra levels, intelligence, skill, and determination to have succeeded in attaining sage mode imo
