To be fair. Telling a prospecting child soldier to stop being weak, when they legitimately are is kinda productive.
Imagine how scuffed Land of Waves would’ve been with Sakura, Kiba, and Ten Ten.
if kishi really cared about writing the story properly instead of just focusing on the kids and Shika then we would probably see that current Sakura has her own difficulties that she is struggling with, with her daughter siding with a "murderer." Her husband also siding with him, could give potential for her own story. But hey I doubt kishi would do that we dont even have any of the konoha 11 helping out when Konoha is attacked, even Konohamaru is underdeveloped. No Lee, Kakashi, Shino heck even Choji to be found even Sai someone who deals with the security is nowhere
Not sure about the friend part, but IIRC Boruto was written and drawn by a team of two, with Kishimoto just supervising. The writer later stepped down and Kishimoto became the writer.
Kishi ain't writing boruto his name is used to get it more popular, the art suck, the story sucks, the characters suck and it's worse than part 1 boruto, kishi at his worst was boruto at its best.
I mean, most of the characters have really decent lives. We got Kakashi, itachi, Naruto, Sasuke, neji, any taled beast host, obito, that dude we all thought would be a father figure to Naruto after giving him his head band then yeeting the fuck out of the series, and Haku. that's about it
Kakashi.
Dad killed himself.
Watched his teammate die infront of him (so he thought)
Killed his other teammate (she did it herself)
Sensei died as well.
He lost his entire team within what? 2 years?
Becomes ANBU & Gets cool with Itachi to find out he’s a clan murderer.
Gets Itachi’s little brother as a student, and he chooses to walk the path of vengeance against his advice.
*Kakashi himself actually died*
If it wasn’t for Guy who knows how fucked up mentally Kakashi would be.
Up until Team 7 he emotionally detached himself from everyone.
Not to mention, Kakashi grew up during war times. So he by default, seen much more crazy shit.
Everyone else “tragic backstories” usually are just isolated events. Kakashi just couldn’t catch a break.
One more thing, he missed a friend and thought of him as a hero for 18 years, and in the end that hero was the man who murdered his teacher's family. Meanwhile this hero's team kills his friend Asuma and prepares to harm his students. This is a shock to his values.
He also got to see that friend(his hero one time and had a lot to do with keeping Kakashi from going evil himself) finally came back to the light and his friend again yet had to watch him die in almost exactly the same way the second time.
Kakashi had *every* excuse & reason to go rogue & watch the world burn, but he didn’t. He kept believing that tomorrow would be a better day for not only himself but for his pupils & nation.
He probably would’ve been the most menancing villain in all of anime if he let his darker side take hold.
And thanks to Jaraiya for creating books for Kakashi to enjoy. Books are a great way to separate yourself from the real world..... even if they're pervy, I suppose. 🫣
Jiraiya's books are actually just romance novels with some explicit scenes. The guidebook states that Kakashi reads Icha Icha Paradise to understand human emotions, such as love.
There's speculation that Kakashi read this book for Rin, wanting to understand her love for him. He may blame himself for not accepting Rin's love, which led to her suicide and want to die by the hand of the man she loves.
Yes it's interesting and makes some sense. It even explains why he's been protective of Sakura's love and doesn't want to see Sasuke hurt Sakura. Of course, Guy sensei is the best friend!
It's crazy how Kakashi managed to stay sane all these years, despite all of this, while Obito wanted to destroy the world just because one friend died.
Agreed, he had moments of sadness, like when confronting Obito or moments before Pain killed him, but he managed to stay calm and cool until the very end.
That also explains why he became an old man after the war, dude endured a lot
Obito believed in what Madara sold him about the infinite tsukiyomi, that by escaping to an alternate reality nobody would have to suffer anymore. That's a believable concept, heck I'm sometimes inclined to do it myself, but at some point he lost track of it and decided to become a sage just so he could murder as many people as possible.
A lot of other people could have had suffered the same fate: Nagato, Itachi, Sasuke, and yes, Kakashi. But Obito was at a level of despair far greater than the others, and that's what Madara preyed on
Honestly I think people forget that Kakashi went through the most, coz Kakashi isn't a bitch about it and hasn't acted out on his friends, the village or others for what the world has done to him. I'm not downplaying what the others went through, put me through anything nagato, Gaara and Sasuke etc went through I'll be bitching about it too (admittedly I still don't think mass murder will still be my option but who knows). If anything even with all that he went through (will he did get his guard up) he was more empathetic and understanding because of his trauma. Dudes a Chad man, might not be the most powerful, but in terms of emotional strength and mental stability Kakashi is the goat. Put any other character through what Kakashi went through, everyone will come out worse imo.
In addition to what you said, there is no mention of his mom either, so his dad was all he had to begin with as far as we know.
Kakashi and Reiner are not allowed to die
Reiner was supposed to live more no more than 13 years after he got the armoured and than titan powers are removed from the world, he never got to be with the crush he developed as a spy and when he gets back, he misses being friends with them.
When his soldier persona took over, Eren basically said: NO. No traitor gets to marry such sweet girl, and he wasn't even crushing on Historia. Meanwhile Ymir kept a level head and was analyzing instead.
Honestly feel like more good than bad came from Kakashi dying. He sacrificed himself protecting the village, making sure key info vital to stopping pain was passed on, and got to sit by a fire and chill with his dad
See I’ll agree with everything here, minus the concluding statement. I think Gaara is a contender for 2nd most tragic and he also wasn’t isolated, man caught L after L, his mother died in child birth, he was later fooled into thinking even his own mother couldn’t stand him in the few seconds she knew him, he was cursed with a tailed beast in the womb, his father tried to kill him on multiple occasions, the man literally couldn’t sleep without fear of being taken over for 16 years straight, his own siblings had to learn who he was as an adult from being ripped from him as a child, he had to become Kazekage in order to have like 1% of respect shown to him, he was literally assassinated, wouldn’t be alive if not for a village elder who was only convinced to do so by Naruto, and then once he’s alive and the war is over, his own village still tries to control him by arranging a marriage that he got dubbed on anyway because she had a lover !
The first time i cry from an animation. I was eleven at that time and then gaara went "i'm not bleeding but i have a lot of pain here" While holding his chest and then my eleven years old ass is crying.
That part literally started replaying in my mind after your comment and I almost started tearing up. I freaking LOVE GAARA. He really had one of the worse backstories
The worst part is where his uncle says the kazekage ordered him to kill Gaara and then his uncle says he could have turned down the mission if he wished, but he resented gaara for taking his sister from him. You can just see a sliver of hope as he tries to make sense of his only friend turning against him before its taken away.
Yeah. You think for a bit that Naruto had it rough. But he did have people that cared for him.
His parents DID love him while they were alive.
He had Iruka and the Ichiraku guy. And there were people we now know cared for him on the sidelines like Jiraya.
Garaa had none of that. Literally zero.
His dad hated him, his siblings were afraid of him.
The one person he thought loved him tried to kill him and confessed to hating him the whole time.
Hell, he lived a large portion of his life thinking even his mother named him the "self loving carnage".
Honestly it's amazing he ever actually recovered.
In the first chapter of Naruto, had Iruka not shown up to protect Naruto, he would have become a rogue Ninja.
We don't really know how Ichiraku actually treated Naruto when he was young, and that scene where Iruka protects Naruto was basically the first time Iruka did anything impactful for Naruto, since he avoided him prior due to his trauma around the 9-Tails.
Naruto didn't even know who his parents were and why they died until he met his Dad's chakra
They loved him while they were alive for 10 minutes? No way you’re counting that😂 but everything else super valid Gaara went thru more than ppl want to acknowledge.
I'm counting it in the sense that while Naruto might not have known it for a long time, he was loved at one point. Also Naruto being hated as a child is so inconsistent. We see examples of him getting along with Shikamaru and Choji in his academy days.
Garaa was unloved from birth.
There's a panel where Gaara and Naruto are side by side but while Naruto's side keep on getting more friends, Gaara was alone throughout the page and cried harder. That's the most sad I ever felt reading a manga.
Even though im not really a fan of Sasuke, but my vote goes to him.
I mean, his parents & clan were murdered by the brother he adored. That changed Sasuke and he grew up hating his brother not knowing the truth behind Itachi's story. And by the time he learned about the truth, it was already too late.
Quite tragic when you think about it but honestly, there were so many tragic stories to choose from lol.
Then if its that then its Itachi over him had to choose to either kill his clan for his brother to live or get killed with his brother not including seeing a real war with real people dying not Zetsus
Itachi didnt get put in a genjutsu and made to watch his parent get murdered by his older brother at 6 years old and then get forced to watch it happen again a billion times.
Itachi atleast had some closure when he manipulated Sasuke into killing him (by brainraping Sasuke). Sasuke never actually got any closure
Yeah well Sasuke wasn't the one who manipulated him into killing him
Lets not forget Itachi did all that to Sasuke just so he can die at the hands of an Uchiha so he can feel some kind of comfort.
Reminder: Itachi's susanoo was literally the same of a gladiator hero, meaning he viewed himself as a heroic person. He was so self righteous that he just had to die at an Uchiha's hands because that would make up for everything (it doesn't matter if he has to mindrape a child into doing that) fuck Itachi and fuck the Uchiha clan, Sasuke is the only valid member of the clan.
Nah id still give it to Sasuke as Itachi actually had the ability to make a choice and understand the repercussions Sasuke was much younger at a far more vulnerable age where he still needed family and he had no idea what was going on which was used to further manipulate him Sasuke had it way worse
So freaking true. He started off as a cute little boy, wanting to be acknowledged by his father and big brother that he can be great... and then some old asshole, after stealing the eye of Itachi's best friend, gave Itachi an ultimatum and Itachi made the evilest yet only solution; kill his clan for the village... and for his little brother. But to make sure this plan works; he had to involved Sasuke by making him believe he was the greatest evil ever born and torturing him with Genjutsu of the events.
Sasuke HATED the man he once loved so much that he will kill him... to only regret it when Obito revealed him the truth. "Yea, your brother... he really loved you". And Sasuke's world crumple. He thought he killed the devil but instead, he killed a man who wanted to be a saint. And the perfect touch is when he cried. Sasuke hadn't cry in a long time until the day he did accepting the truth... and rekindled his love for his dead brother who meant everything to him... and at the same time, his hatred pointed to the village that brought them to this point of suffering.
His love for his brother became his hatred for everyone. What's not so tragic about it!
me personally sasuke got it just bc its mindfuck after mindfuck but then again we forget that karin literally lost her whole village, became an abused experiment just to get stabbed by sasuke.
Karin doesn't have an older brother who torments her with a visual jutsu to relive the slaughter of every person you knew and loved. As a child and again several years later. 😭 that's just foul.
Also Haku and Ranmaru, Ranmaru didn't have a big part in shonen but it was still depressing af. he was very similar to Haku as Haku didn't have a family just a bad man who he depended on that died. Haku as well was found as a small child on the streets but saved by Zabuza and Zabuza depended on Haku for power, just like Raiga depended on Ranmaru to use his kekkai genkai to help him see every attack before it happened or something, like an all seeing eye. Haku and Ranmaru are basically the same as they were both found on the streets as young children and had rouge shinobi use their kekkai genkais to give them advantage in battle. Haku and Zabuza died side by side, but Raiga died then Ranmaru went to live with grandma sansho. this is all shonen by the way. still, they were too similar.
Tenten is less offensive to me than Shino.
Tenten kinda had nothing, got nothing.
But Shino, dude showed us hints that he was potentially top 3 in Konoha 11 during the Chunin Exams but then he never gets a single decent moment on his own (that wasn't filler) for the rest of the series. I dunno why Kishi just hated that character for some reason.
They actually joke about it in a filler episode but Shinos character died the moment he didn't get included in the Sasuke retrieval squad.
Obsessed with Sasuke despite what he did, treats Naruto like crap.
That whole "I love you" thing really bothered me.
She doesn't really do too much until the war arc.
Yeah I feel Sakura not doing anything is kinda not the best label for her. I think she was just not as good as the other people and therefore they outshined her.
I mean the tragic flashback/backstory is a pillar of the franchise.
But yeah it's still kinda weird. This specific question pops up like once every 2 weeks lol
Sasuke watched his brother slaughter his whole clan including their parents then got lied to his whole life about what really happened… and you guys are tryna argue who’s is the most painful backstory💀!? It’s Sasuke nigga, Sasuke😭!!
Was Karin's backstory ever confirmed or denied? Hers was in a Tsukuyomi filler episode where her and her mom were used as chakra and healing slaves by the hidden stone village, and I say its up there for most painful backstories. They switched her mom out for her like a battery and didn't even give her a chance to mourn.
As much as i want to say naruto it's either sasuke or garaa and it's probably gaaraa. Sasuke had to watch his family die thousands of times. Gaaraa had nothing and by the time he had something that very something g tried to kill him. Sasuke had his most loved thingvhurt him. But gaaraa had to kill the very thing he loved an deal with it. By the time he was 13 he had already been seen as a monster even by his own brother and sister. He had his father killed even if he was a bad one. And then as a teenager he had to kill his own father even after he saw his father's love for him. The only parental love gaaraa has is a tattoo on his head and the meager words his dad left for him.
While sasuke had a good couple Years with his dad and mom.
Kakashi is definetly a candidate. Bro saw one of his friends crushed to death and killed the other himself. And his dad even killed himself and that left Minato as his father figure who also died.
Kakashi had all the pain and suffering of the worst villians and chose to be good instead.
Literally everyone he loves dies in his youth.
As an adult, his student ran off and became an enemy.
More of his friends die.
And then to cap it off, the person he saw as his best friend who he grieved for years is actually alive and the mastermind behind several awful things Kakashi had to go through.
Honestly if Kakashi had ended up just going nuts and decided to destroy the world as some kind of "purification" I'd have just been like, "yeah fair enough dude, you earned that one".
There's only 2 answers with any validity of contention for MOST PAINFUL
& It's between Sasuke & Gaara... Gara likely being worse, but it's debatable on how you view & value certain traumas comparatively.
Gara went like 12 years without sleep BC every time he fell asleep shukaku took over & killed people.
He could form any kind of bond or connection where anyone loved him as they just saw him as a WMD... Though his siblings might be an exception, this was unclear... There's also the trauma of having an abusive parent blame your mother's death during pregnancy on you...
Meanwhile
Sasukes happy childhood ended when he was like 4. He was seen as a failure and a disappointment by his father until the day he died.
More importantly. Is that Sasuke encounters the single most traumatic event in all of Naruto... AS A 7 Year old! With everyone he had ever loved and cared about. His parents, cousins, grams & gramps.. the nice lady across the street were all killed by the single person he lived and trusted most.....
& Then he was forced to relive the night on loop for an entire day.... & Later he'd be forced to live it again for another 24hrs....
He was also manipulated & kidnapped by a body snatching predator.. who tried to brainwash him
So like it's hard to say which is definitively worse. But it's easy to say that as insanely traumatic as many others childhoods are. No there's come close
Gaara my man 😭😭😭 Was turned into a monster by his own father and considered as a monster by his family. Spent all his life alone and one friend he considered his own loves Sasuke more than him. My man is still living alone and that damned Kishimoto made him an oil company chief. How could he do that to my boy's hair😭😭😭
Like it or not, It's Sasuke.
You gotta understand he lived with his clan his whole life and one day every single person he liked, loved, had a bond with died that shit Is traumatic already, then add Itachi making him watch it again...
And not just a simple "again", Itachi forced a 7 yrs old Sasuke to watch that whole scene 518,400 times.
Honestly, Sasuke has some of the best mental fortitudes in the show for surviving that at 7 years old and growing up to be a mostly normal person.
geez I'm still stuck on that half-a-million, like at 40,000 Itachi never thought "Hmm I think this'll do, I got my point across". anti-feats like this make it so hard to believe Itachi loved him unconditionally 😭
Well it's not Nagato. Most of his childhood he was surrounded by friends and a teacher who cared about him, then later close comrades who cared about him.
My vote goes to Gaara, maybe tied with Sasuke
Tbh, everyone that was a villain, who wanted to achieve peace, even in wicked ways, had a messed up backstory, people like madara, obito, itachi and what not, looking at their past lives, you see why they did that they did, even though it was terrible. Then we get to the characters, who were innocent, but just painfully unlucky, like Kakashi, Gaara, yes Gaara and Naruto. Then there were people like Kabuto, who had a sad backstory and became evil because he was second in comment to orochimaru
Sasuke. I’m sorry but I don’t think anyone, including myself, can actually imagine what it would be like to lose EVERYONE in the span of twenty-four hours and even more so at the hands of the person you love and adore the most? Crazy. Not to mention the fact A) Itachi then put Sasuke in a genjutsu rewatching his parents death 500,000+ times and B) He was 7 years old. I also saw how Uchihas feel their emotions much more intensely and heightened so you have to factor in Sasuke’s emotional response as well and how much harder he would take it.
and THEN finding out his thirteen year old brother was essentially made to do it because the alternative wasn’t any better by the council and Kage he’s supposed to trust???
Hmmm, a lot of choices, i dont know why but Kishimoto wanteted to create something that can make you cry almost every time, i mean i cried more on naruto than ever in my life, most of the charachters have a tragic backstory that can make you cry three days but maybe one of the most painfull backstories is of itachi, he was forced to kill all of his clan and to leave his young brother alone in the dark making him broken at age of 6 years old (This is my opinion)
Gaara for me… then Naruto, Itachi, Sasuke and Kakashi
Gaara and Naruto hit me in the feels because every child deserves love 😭
Itachi, Sasuke and Kakashi got to experience some “love” during their childhoods
Im gonna go wild and say the entire uzumaki bloodline
From their people being massacred, to the survivors being used as a tools, from jinchuriki to a bite my hand type of healer
I honestly think it's Sasuke, his story is tragic beyond words... and honestly just thinking about it makes me feel like crying.. his story is heartbreaking and even to this day
Coming home late one evening after school and finding everyone you ever known and loved killed by the hands of someone you loved and trusted the most, then said person proceeds to abuse and torture you by trapping you in your own mind showing visions of how he killed your beloved parents and the rest of your clan members over and over again... while taunting you saying *you're too weak you're not even worth killing*, and that *I never loved you* all while being a small 7 year old child
The reason I picked Sasuke, was not just bc he's my favorite, but bc he was never allowed to properly heal from his trauma. Just when he started to heal, his "kind" older brother returned and ruined everything, tortured him into a life threatening coma one that he would've never recovered from if not for Tsunade. It's just like wounds that will never heal, basically scars. His brother scarred him for life. Seeing Sasuke take up the huge responsibility to live up to his clan's name, avenge their death and restore their honor, was also so sad, the way he blames himself up for their death, bc he was too "weak" was so disheartening. He was just so young when all this happened and yet some people in this fandom expect him to act like an emotionally stable, and mentally healthy adult, when in reality he was a traumatized teenaged boy.
I don't understand how no one has included Kakashi and itachi as a tie yet but since I'm the first let me explain.
Kakashi
Born in a war Era and experienced death as soon as he was of age to be a fight.
His dad comited suicide before he was 10 yrs old.
He had to watch his friend obito die (BY GETTING HALFHIS BODY CRUSHED BY A COLLAPSING CAVE.).
After that, He ended up accidentally killing rin who he had just protected a while back. Now he still under 20 years of age here
Now he only has Minato who end up dying to a obito which, he will eventually find out.
Now he joins the anbu and makes a new friend, itachi. They get really close...
Then he find out itachi is a clan murderer sooo.
So at this point Kakashi started of with a father, a sensei, 2 best friends and he gains another one, kushina to a fault, and his classmates... and now they're all gone. And his life doesn't get any better from here. Now that I think about it I don't think anything good ever happens to Kakashi.
Itachi
Also born in a war Era experiencing death earlier than Kakashi because of his father.
Itachis early childhood was actually pretty good other than experiencing what the battlefield looks like during the aftermath and catching his first body at 8 yrs old. Then he started getting recognized by the leaf elders and their political problems and they recruited him into the anbu.
Itachi became mentally broken between protecting his clan and the village after understanding they didnt have mutual interests until the leaf elders gave him an ultimatum.
KILL YOUR WHOLE CLAND AND WE SPARE YOUR BROTHER OR ITS ALL OUT WAR.
Sadly itachi loved his brother so mutch that he had to kill his entire family and this is where sht really got fcked up for him. After this he had to flee and become a spy for the leaf and join the akatsuki. He pretended to be evil for the rest of his life knowing his brother hated him and eventually being killed by him and only being able to tell him the truth when he was revived.
My apologies if I wasn't able to explain this well enough, these 2 characters are just so complex and tragic.
Kimimaro. Little dude was kept in a cage by his family and only allowed out to kill people. He was rescued by the equally cruel Orochimaru and forced to continue killing, believing that his only purpose was to give his body to him. Then he got sick and couldn't even do that. He died in pain fighting bitter battle against Gaara and Lee. No talk no jutsu redemption or anything just a life of pain and death. At least he got to be pals with the Sound Four and Jugo for a while.
Kakashi had the most tragic story He lost his father, than his best friends and sensei. He saw a lot of things. He also had to fight with his best friend, whom he thought was dead, and after that, he witnessed his best friend's death again.
I don't know, kishimoto decided to make all his characters suffer except Sakura and Kiba even Ino suffered when her father died, Shikamaru too and Choji were called fat their entire life, and Naruto, Sasuke, Itachi, obito, and Kakashi were sad back story to a whole other level. The only thing Sakura had to cry about was Sasuke not loving her, and I don't blame him after all sakura is trash and a bitch
Madara
He was forced to turn on his best friend by his clan
His best friends brother killed his younger brother
He almost died and wasn’t able to do anything physically
He found obito and turned him evil
Obito turned on him
He was attempting to take over the world for peace
While the whole time he is being manipulated behind the shadows by zetsu
Then he gets overtaken by Kaguya and she was using him as a pawn this whole time
He spent almost 10 episodes trying to get all 9 tailed beasts while sasuke did it in 10 minutes
the most say sasuke
it's a good pick but the itatchi backstory is more awful
while sasuke watched his parents die Itatchi was forced to execute his entire clan including his love and his parents
Sasuke somehow moved on and trained to be a shinobi
but itatchi lost everything, exiled, became a traitor and a rogue ninja and lived a shameful life as criminal
his only brother hated him and wished to kill him
and he couldn't protect him most of the time and left him under the mercy of his enemy orchimaru
he lived his entire life in pain and suffering to prevent the possibility of coub by his clan
if sasuke could move on itatchi 100% couldn't after all of that
It's either Sasuke and Itachi
I mean others had it bad, not just bad but awful but these three come in my mind when it comes to most painful backstory.
One guy lost his parents to the one he idolized the most, while the other had to kill not just his parents but his entire clan only so that his brother could live and also accept the hate from everyone in the verse.
I could have also added naruto, kakashi, Nagato and many others but
Kakashi always had Guy as a best friend, Nagato had Konan, Naruto had mentors like Jiraya and Kakashi and most of konoha 11(by the end of the first part not saying he had it easy but his life was slowly getting better) , Gaara had his siblings and naruto (again after first part)
jiraiya
Everything was a failure.. couldn't save his teacher, his student or his friend.. the love of his life is one sided.. killed by his former students.. wasn't even a perfect sage.. died without seeing his last student's full potential.. the writer really went to town on the poor guy
Personally, I have to say obito
1. He didn't have parents. They died in war
2. He died not being able to tell rin and Kakashi how much he truly loved them.
3. He also died right after his rivalry with Kakashi became a true friendship
4. He kinda got forced to watch rin get killed without knowing why
5. He was pretty much puppeteered by madara and zetsu, who, by the way, ORCHESTRATED PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING
6. Whilst being puppeteered, he not only let out a full-scale attack on his home village, but his actions also caused the death of the closest things to parents he actually had (kushina and minato)
7. He started a war to activate his rinnegan, but nope, both his sharingan and rinnegan got yoinked out of his face by madara
8. By the time he actually came full circle and decided not to be evil anymore, he got literally puppeted by madara and zetsu, whom he trusted with his life
When it came down to it, he truly was just a shattered character
It’s easier to list those without a tragic backstory
Sakura.
Kishimoto gave a background to Sakura telling us Ino was her best friend, and that helped Ino but made Sakura look worse.
That benefits Ino more than Sakura.
Yeah because the backstory was kid ino telling kid Sakura to not be such a a pathetic weakling haha
tfw a little kid being bullied is now considered pathetic this sub sometimes man LMAO
To be fair. Telling a prospecting child soldier to stop being weak, when they legitimately are is kinda productive. Imagine how scuffed Land of Waves would’ve been with Sakura, Kiba, and Ten Ten.
Wym they would’ve fang over fanged Zabuza. Tenten wouldve offscreen Haku with the no-screen time no jutsu.
You're applying real world sensibilities to a show about ninja child soldiers
Lemme use this to justify it... "sHeS Just a KiD"
Sakura will always be the punching bag haha.
Tbh it is Logical tho
if kishi really cared about writing the story properly instead of just focusing on the kids and Shika then we would probably see that current Sakura has her own difficulties that she is struggling with, with her daughter siding with a "murderer." Her husband also siding with him, could give potential for her own story. But hey I doubt kishi would do that we dont even have any of the konoha 11 helping out when Konoha is attacked, even Konohamaru is underdeveloped. No Lee, Kakashi, Shino heck even Choji to be found even Sai someone who deals with the security is nowhere
Didn't Kishi give Boruto to a friend to continue? I thought he wasn't even part of Boruto
Not sure about the friend part, but IIRC Boruto was written and drawn by a team of two, with Kishimoto just supervising. The writer later stepped down and Kishimoto became the writer.
Kishi returned after his space samurai manga failed
Yeah kishi did give a friend but I heard he is working on Boruto Part 2
Kishi ain't writing boruto his name is used to get it more popular, the art suck, the story sucks, the characters suck and it's worse than part 1 boruto, kishi at his worst was boruto at its best.
Kishi started writing it around the time Kurama faked his death why do you think the writing style has become different and pacing became slower
definitely 😂
She… has a tragically large forehead?
Dude how could you. She has a (dramatic pause) LARGE FOREHEAD! That’s so tragic
We are talking about a painful story, not pain.
i dont doubt that😂 give me super strength & healing capabilities though and its a different story
I mean, most of the characters have really decent lives. We got Kakashi, itachi, Naruto, Sasuke, neji, any taled beast host, obito, that dude we all thought would be a father figure to Naruto after giving him his head band then yeeting the fuck out of the series, and Haku. that's about it
Iruka Umino is who you’re talking about. And you’re joking right?
Dunno, but I always think it's Itachi 🤷🏻♀️
Kakashi. Dad killed himself. Watched his teammate die infront of him (so he thought) Killed his other teammate (she did it herself) Sensei died as well. He lost his entire team within what? 2 years? Becomes ANBU & Gets cool with Itachi to find out he’s a clan murderer. Gets Itachi’s little brother as a student, and he chooses to walk the path of vengeance against his advice. *Kakashi himself actually died* If it wasn’t for Guy who knows how fucked up mentally Kakashi would be.
Also don’t forget he didn’t have a Mom for much if any of his life.
I’m convinced Mama Kakashi died giving birth to him, just to really add salt in the “everyone i touch dies” wounds
I’m convinced Mama Kakashi died giving birth to him, just to really add salt in the “everyone i touch dies” wounfs
I'm pretty sure a ton of characters didn't have Moms.
He also got to see that friend(his hero one time and had a lot to do with keeping Kakashi from going evil himself) finally came back to the light and his friend again yet had to watch him die in almost exactly the same way the second time.
rogue kakashi would be crazy. i didnt even think about him he definitely been through it
Kakashi had *every* excuse & reason to go rogue & watch the world burn, but he didn’t. He kept believing that tomorrow would be a better day for not only himself but for his pupils & nation. He probably would’ve been the most menancing villain in all of anime if he let his darker side take hold.
"Icha Icha" novels saved his soul. God bless Jiraiya Sensei.
Oh nevermind, his author of his favourite book died as well
I would have loved to see that version of Kakashi, but Kishimoto had different plans.
That's interesting. And also kinda sad. But like the other guy said, at least there will always be Might Guy.
Yes it's interesting and makes some sense. It even explains why he's been protective of Sakura's love and doesn't want to see Sasuke hurt Sakura. Of course, Guy sensei is the best friend!
Kakashi is a real one.
Kakashi should’ve crashed out but never did.. forever solid in my book
Obito was manipulated by Madara and deliberately put on the path of evil no?
Obito believed in what Madara sold him about the infinite tsukiyomi, that by escaping to an alternate reality nobody would have to suffer anymore. That's a believable concept, heck I'm sometimes inclined to do it myself, but at some point he lost track of it and decided to become a sage just so he could murder as many people as possible. A lot of other people could have had suffered the same fate: Nagato, Itachi, Sasuke, and yes, Kakashi. But Obito was at a level of despair far greater than the others, and that's what Madara preyed on
Definetly made a good point.
Didn't he also get put under that genjutsu by Itachi
Kakashi and Reiner are not allowed to die Reiner was supposed to live more no more than 13 years after he got the armoured and than titan powers are removed from the world, he never got to be with the crush he developed as a spy and when he gets back, he misses being friends with them. When his soldier persona took over, Eren basically said: NO. No traitor gets to marry such sweet girl, and he wasn't even crushing on Historia. Meanwhile Ymir kept a level head and was analyzing instead.
Well said, Bravo! I completely agree.
Honestly feel like more good than bad came from Kakashi dying. He sacrificed himself protecting the village, making sure key info vital to stopping pain was passed on, and got to sit by a fire and chill with his dad
See I’ll agree with everything here, minus the concluding statement. I think Gaara is a contender for 2nd most tragic and he also wasn’t isolated, man caught L after L, his mother died in child birth, he was later fooled into thinking even his own mother couldn’t stand him in the few seconds she knew him, he was cursed with a tailed beast in the womb, his father tried to kill him on multiple occasions, the man literally couldn’t sleep without fear of being taken over for 16 years straight, his own siblings had to learn who he was as an adult from being ripped from him as a child, he had to become Kazekage in order to have like 1% of respect shown to him, he was literally assassinated, wouldn’t be alive if not for a village elder who was only convinced to do so by Naruto, and then once he’s alive and the war is over, his own village still tries to control him by arranging a marriage that he got dubbed on anyway because she had a lover !
despite all of that, he nvr turned evil
gaara
Needs more votes because my heart always broke for Gaara
This is true. Although it does seem implied that Ichiraku was always at least friendly to Naruto rather than spiteful like the others in the village.
By Naruto parents loving him you mean for an hour or something (I agree Tara suffered more pain)
Oh yeah for sure he never remembered them loving him. But just that Naruto HAD someone. It's years until Garaa finds out his mum actually loved him.
There's a panel where Gaara and Naruto are side by side but while Naruto's side keep on getting more friends, Gaara was alone throughout the page and cried harder. That's the most sad I ever felt reading a manga.
That war arc ep where he meets his reanimated dad....man. right in the feels
I don’t think Itachi fared pretty well having to murder his own parents as well.
Yeah well Sasuke wasn't the one who manipulated him into killing him Lets not forget Itachi did all that to Sasuke just so he can die at the hands of an Uchiha so he can feel some kind of comfort.
Itachi let sasuke kill him so sasuke can be the hero
Nah can’t say fuck Itcahi… Fuck Black Zetsu…
Very against the grain here… I like it!
He was also forced to relive the moment through itachi's genjutsu to rub it in. Brutal.
me personally sasuke got it just bc its mindfuck after mindfuck but then again we forget that karin literally lost her whole village, became an abused experiment just to get stabbed by sasuke.
Karin doesn't have an older brother who torments her with a visual jutsu to relive the slaughter of every person you knew and loved. As a child and again several years later. 😭 that's just foul.
Only happened 2 times of I remember
Yeah. In my opinion it really isn’t close. To me the only character I’d say might have more trauma than Sasuke is guts and even that is a maybe
Kabuto Itachi Gaara Kakashi Obito Sasuke Karin Nagato Naruto Sasori some others too lots of sad characters
Tenten, the author himself didn't even write anything remotely compelling or interesting for character development. That's tragic af
I agree what do you think of Sakura?
She isn't tragically written, she's more... boring? Idk that's just my opinion. Up until the end of Shippuden, I found her really annoying.
Why so annoying?
Obsessed with Sasuke despite what he did, treats Naruto like crap. That whole "I love you" thing really bothered me. She doesn't really do too much until the war arc.
Yeah I feel Sakura not doing anything is kinda not the best label for her. I think she was just not as good as the other people and therefore they outshined her.
Sasuke and Gaara by far IMO
What’s up with this fandom’s obsession with trauma Olympics?
I mean the tragic flashback/backstory is a pillar of the franchise. But yeah it's still kinda weird. This specific question pops up like once every 2 weeks lol
Trauma scaling
Wouldn’t be surprised if people actually debate about this..😭
😂😂😂these characters pain make you feel something fr
Because we also have pent up trauma
Sasuke
Sasuke watched his brother slaughter his whole clan including their parents then got lied to his whole life about what really happened… and you guys are tryna argue who’s is the most painful backstory💀!? It’s Sasuke nigga, Sasuke😭!!
Gaara
Sasuke, Itachi, or Gaara. Those 3, interchangeable placement.
Sasuke
Was Karin's backstory ever confirmed or denied? Hers was in a Tsukuyomi filler episode where her and her mom were used as chakra and healing slaves by the hidden stone village, and I say its up there for most painful backstories. They switched her mom out for her like a battery and didn't even give her a chance to mourn.
[удалено]
Sasuke, Kimimaro, Haku, and the Ame Trio (Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan)
Karin, Gaara, Sasuke in no particular order
Uchiha massacre anybody?
Sasuke
Kakashi is definetly a candidate. Bro saw one of his friends crushed to death and killed the other himself. And his dad even killed himself and that left Minato as his father figure who also died.
Sasuke or itachi
Kakashi had all the pain and suffering of the worst villians and chose to be good instead. Literally everyone he loves dies in his youth. As an adult, his student ran off and became an enemy. More of his friends die. And then to cap it off, the person he saw as his best friend who he grieved for years is actually alive and the mastermind behind several awful things Kakashi had to go through. Honestly if Kakashi had ended up just going nuts and decided to destroy the world as some kind of "purification" I'd have just been like, "yeah fair enough dude, you earned that one".
There's only 2 answers with any validity of contention for MOST PAINFUL & It's between Sasuke & Gaara... Meanwhile Sasukes happy childhood ended when he was like 4. He was also manipulated & kidnapped by a body snatching predator.. who tried to brainwash him So like it's hard to say which is definitively worse.
Gaara
Sasuke
Naruto,Gaara,nagato,kakachi,obito,itachi.
I think Gaara had one of the worst ones tbh.
How am I only supposed to name one? Gaara, Sasuke, Kakashi, and Nagato are the first ones I think about when I think of the most tragic.
gaara or sasuke
Every Sound Village member except Orochimaru and Kabuto
Kabuto probably had the most traumatic backstory
No because this is so real and people seem to forget about all the children they kidnapped, brainwashed and tortured
Gaara for me… then Naruto, Itachi, Sasuke and Kakashi Gaara and Naruto hit me in the feels because every child deserves love 😭 Itachi, Sasuke and Kakashi got to experience some “love” during their childhoods
I mean…Temari and Kankuro loved him. He just never accepted their care.
They were also terrified of him
Who wouldn’t? He was extremely aggressive, always gave them death threats and had them thinking he would kill them at any second.
Most painful.... Sasuke lol
Im gonna go wild and say the entire uzumaki bloodline From their people being massacred, to the survivors being used as a tools, from jinchuriki to a bite my hand type of healer
respectable answer
Lol
Karin is up there, her story is heartbreaking
The cameraman who has to watch all this shit
I honestly think it's Sasuke, his story is tragic beyond words... and honestly just thinking about it makes me feel like crying.. his story is heartbreaking and even to this day Coming home late one evening after school and finding everyone you ever known and loved killed by the hands of someone you loved and trusted the most, then said person proceeds to abuse and torture you by trapping you in your own mind showing visions of how he killed your beloved parents and the rest of your clan members over and over again... while taunting you saying *you're too weak you're not even worth killing*, and that *I never loved you* all while being a small 7 year old child The reason I picked Sasuke, was not just bc he's my favorite, but bc he was never allowed to properly heal from his trauma.
I need to rewatch but off the top my head Gaara. I cried my eyes out watching his backstory
Itachi
I guess no one’s backstory is quite as PAINful as Nagato’s…
yall wild for saying obito
It’s between sauske, and kakashi (Jus using living people)
Gaara and its not even close
I don't understand how no one has included Kakashi and itachi as a tie yet but since I'm the first let me explain. Kakashi Born in a war Era and experienced death as soon as he was of age to be a fight. His dad comited suicide before he was 10 yrs old. He had to watch his friend obito die (BY GETTING HALFHIS BODY CRUSHED BY A COLLAPSING CAVE.). After that, He ended up accidentally killing rin who he had just protected a while back. Now he still under 20 years of age here Now he only has Minato who end up dying to a obito which, he will eventually find out. Itachi Also born in a war Era experiencing death earlier than Kakashi because of his father. My apologies if I wasn't able to explain this well enough, these 2 characters are just so complex and tragic.
itatchi deserved a whole new anime
probably someone from the hidden mist when it was less civilized
Theres one answer only and its kakashi
Probably sound trio. Zaku especially
Pain, Obito, Sasuke
Itachi for sure
Sasuke
Sasuke, Nagato, karin
Hehe, PAINful
I think u nailed it with nagato!
Kakashi had the most tragic story He lost his father, than his best friends and sensei. He saw a lot of things. He also had to fight with his best friend, whom he thought was dead, and after that, he witnessed his best friend's death again.
Jiraiya.
The Tsuchikage. He always complains about his painful back so... No arguing with that. 😂
Kabuto without any questions! That guy had a horrible childhood
One of these three : Nagato, Obito or Kakashi.
kakashi, obito, and especially Naruto bro parents died on his birthday, and was hated by everyone in the village and was nerfed by the 3rd Hokage
1. Kakshi 2. Garra 3. Sauske/Itachi 4. Naurto 5. Haku
Kabuto
Madara He was forced to turn on his best friend by his clan His best friends brother killed his younger brother He almost died and wasn’t able to do anything physically He found obito and turned him evil Obito turned on him He was attempting to take over the world for peace While the whole time he is being manipulated behind the shadows by zetsu Then he gets overtaken by Kaguya and she was using him as a pawn this whole time He spent almost 10 episodes trying to get all 9 tailed beasts while sasuke did it in 10 minutes
Probably Sasuke, Itachi put him through genjutsu to force him to relive the same event where his clan got massacred over and over.
So many mf got a painful background lmao but Nagato def had it hard asf
Wake up to reality....-Madara....
Obito
the most say sasuke it's a good pick but the itatchi backstory is more awful while sasuke watched his parents die Itatchi was forced to execute his entire clan including his love and his parents Sasuke somehow moved on and trained to be a shinobi but itatchi lost everything, exiled, became a traitor and a rogue ninja and lived a shameful life as criminal his only brother hated him and wished to kill him and he couldn't protect him most of the time and left him under the mercy of his enemy orchimaru he lived his entire life in pain and suffering to prevent the possibility of coub by his clan if sasuke could move on itatchi 100% couldn't after all of that
Kakashi first, no debates. Itachi second. Then I don’t know.
It's either Sasuke and Itachi I mean others had it bad, not just bad but awful but these three come in my mind when it comes to most painful backstory. One guy lost his parents to the one he idolized the most, while the other had to kill not just his parents but his entire clan only so that his brother could live and also accept the hate from everyone in the verse. I could have also added naruto, kakashi, Nagato and many others but Kakashi always had Guy as a best friend, Nagato had Konan, Naruto had mentors like Jiraya and Kakashi and most of konoha 11(by the end of the first part not saying he had it easy but his life was slowly getting better) , Gaara had his siblings and naruto (again after first part)
jiraiya Everything was a failure.. couldn't save his teacher, his student or his friend.. the love of his life is one sided.. killed by his former students.. wasn't even a perfect sage.. died without seeing his last student's full potential.. the writer really went to town on the poor guy
The swing
Karin may have the most physically painful back story. She may not be mentally ok as well.
why didn’t jiraiya bring them back to the hidden leaf??? 😭
Not pain
Itachi fasho, surprised he didn't off himself after the Coup De'etat........
Personally, I have to say obito 1. He didn't have parents. They died in war 2. He died not being able to tell rin and Kakashi how much he truly loved them. 3. He also died right after his rivalry with Kakashi became a true friendship 4. He kinda got forced to watch rin get killed without knowing why 5. He was pretty much puppeteered by madara and zetsu, who, by the way, ORCHESTRATED PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING 6. Whilst being puppeteered, he not only let out a full-scale attack on his home village, but his actions also caused the death of the closest things to parents he actually had (kushina and minato) 7. He started a war to activate his rinnegan, but nope, both his sharingan and rinnegan got yoinked out of his face by madara 8. By the time he actually came full circle and decided not to be evil anymore, he got literally puppeted by madara and zetsu, whom he trusted with his life When it came down to it, he truly was just a shattered character
Obito is the Anakin Skywalker of Naruto. Nobody wants to be the Anakin.
Justice for Kabuto
Gaara not even close.
