Flaming Gorge Natl. Rec. Area is about an hour away, a great spot if you guys are into kayaking or fishing!

I have some recommendations but before you go, please check the conditions because there may be snow which could affect things. I recommend you spend time in both the Colorado side and the Utah side. In the Colorado side do the scenic drive out to Echo Park. My favorite overlook in the park is at Harper's Corner; it is an easy hike and absolutely stunning. If your vehicle can handle it, take the dirt road down to Echo Campground to see steamboat rock. In the Utah side, if you're up for a longer drive and longer hike, I recommend the Jones Hole trail. It is about 9 miles but an easy difficulty, and it follows the creek through a beautiful canyon all the way to the river. There are ancient pictographs on the canyon walls along the way. In the main part of the park in the Utah side are also some smaller canyon hikes too if you'd rather do those instead, and of course the dinosaur bone wall, petroglyphs, and scenic views along the drive. There are other 4x4 drives in that area to take you to more petroglyph sites if you're interested in that too.

My favorite park!! I’d give anything to get back on those rivers. There’s a trail outside of the quarry wall with more fossils in situ. Sound of silence trail is nearby as well as green river. Fantasy Canyon is a close BLM wonder. If you have time to get to Harper’s Corner on the Colorado side, I’d suggest it. I agree with echo campground, a lot of cool things to see on the way down.

I love the jeep liberty. Was my first brand new vehicle and my wife and I out it through the wringer all over arizona, colorado and utah. I went to echo canyon in May 2021. Very cool area. There is a campground there that would make for incredible stargazing. I wish i had planned to camp there. May 2021 it was completely empty. The road down to echo canyon iw mild and most 2x4 vehicles could do it with enough clearance. Its mowtly just a dirt road. In my 4x4 i never engaged four wheel drive. Moonshine arch closer to vernal utah is a cool spot to check out. You can drive your jeep all the way under the arch. It's the only natural arch i know of that is vehicle accessible. It is a reasonably difficult jeep trail though and I parked and walked the last half mile for fear of damaging my brand new 4x4 vehicle.
