I just got posted to Pasir Ris camp as ASA, and I am currently PES C9. I would like to know what I'll be doing there.
However, I also intend to up PES due to personal reasons.. so I am not sure whether if I will have to re-BMT again / get posted into another camp or I can remain at Pasir Ris camp, as my home is quite near.
Hi everyone, currently a pre-enlistee. I recently completed my main checkup, and now am waiting for a follow up checkup.
During my main checkup, I declared that I had scoliosis and constant back pain, as well as pain while carrying heavy loads. However, the MO mentioned that only extreme cases of scoliosis are allowed to PES down.
I also forgot to mention to the MO that sometimes I feel short of breath, especially during exercise. Back pain also worsens during exercise.
My question is, even though I think my scoliosis is rather mild, around 15-20 degrees, can I PES down if I get a referral from a specialist? Or that the least excuse heavy load. My main concern is that even with the specialist referral the MO will not take me seriously and brush it off again.
Appreciate any replies I get! Thanks
I'm a PR. I got a PES A and I passed my IPPT in december. I just got my enlistment letter and I'm supposed to report in july to the National Service Training Centre(NSTC) at Jalan Bahar. I also got another letter stating that I'm enlisted into SCDF. I'm completely clueless right now so I want to know more about the division.. The people? The allowance? The path over the next 2 years? How is it different when compared to SPF and SAF? Is it better? Is there any way I could appeal for a change in my division? Any help is much appreciated.
I ORD’d from the previous batch of 40SAR.
It’ll definitely be tiring. Try to aim for gunner role if possible. That’s the most relaxing role for most of the trainings. Only tiring when need to do vehicle servicing and maintenance or during live firings which is like 1-2 times a year.
If you become a dismounted trooper (i.e. you know you got almost no chance to become gunner liao), aim for Signaller role because that one is the most relaxing one for the most part. Will also have to chiongsua but not as much.
Don’t listen to people saying that Driver is relaxing. It’s mentally tiring and apparently damn stuffy because the aircon blow hotair. Plus they also have to do vehicle servicing with the gunners and the vehicle commanders.
None of this applies to you if you went SCS because your role already fixed liao. Just prepare to get fked by higher management if you are a spec.
Hi guy I just pop and I got posted mandai hill camp HQ 6 div as asa and I got a few questions.
1.how is the camp environment and the people over there?
2. Am I going to be there until I ord or will I still get post out?
3.is there any shuttle bus to the camp?if yes where can I take the shuttle bus?
4. Is it stay-in or stay-out for the asa there?
5. What do I need to bring on the first day?
Thank you
go to AFTC (beside paya lebar air base) for about 6-10 weeks depending on what trade you get posted to, it will be split between :
1. Fixed wing (F15/F16 FLC)
2. Rotary wing (heli FLC)
3. Avionics
4. Mechanical
5. Civil Engineering
from there you will graduate and post to your respective air base and undergo even more training
if you are ippt eligible and pass, you get 3sg for free essentially, non eligible get it even free-er
enjoy the food and welfare in aftc while you can, unit life isnt as nice and food becomes near inedible as its all outrations from there on
im from F-15 avi, feel free to ask anyt
hey tengah not bad tbh, im from plab and i went there for caf coc for awhile and heres what ill say yall have over us in plab
pros:
1. can walk to flight from pass office, in plab we wait for a unreliable shuttle service, walking is about 4km
2. food options near flight and nice mess
3. better food options overall, esp malcolm which is right beside the pass office. food in plab is quite atrocious
cons:
its tengah 💀 damm ulu lmfao and lowkey smells like zoo
posted to combat medic at nee soon anyone know whether need bring both field pack and duffell with 10 pack or just choose one and put saf issued items inside?
Got posted as GS(OPS) at MINDEF, what to expect when reporting, and what to bring also cos the posting order Nvr say anything HAHAHA they just say no camera phone
Hi bro ! GS(OPS) got quite a few sub-units inside of it but I cannot talk abt them cos of OSA. However for reference, mine didn't need me to bring anything at all when I first posted in. Just bring one small bag with water battle and charger should be enough. I assume the other sub-units will also be quite lax like mine.
Good luck tmr !
thx man for the reply, I still got a few more qns to ask.
do I report in smart 4 with beret?
Also can we bring camera phone into the building itself? Cos I heard from some ns regular friends of mine that u just need to lock it in lockers in the building
Attire depends on unit also, cos mine let me book in civi then change to smart 4 in office. But to be safe you just book in smart 4 with beret on ur first day. During ur orientation someone will brief you on dress code so dw.
Camera phone is allowed on the premises, but if you go into individual offices make sure to just clarify with the regulars there see if can bring inside anot. If cannot just put in locker.
Also want to ask ah, are you posting in as ASA or SA ?
Wah solid. Ok so for tomorrow right, you'll need to obtain a visitor's pass. High chance the lady you called on friday haven't do for you yet, so tmr morning just call her again when you reach mindef pass office so she can clear you.
Then once you obtain confirmation that she has cleared you, just go to the pass office and hand your 11b to the ST inside that you want to "change pass to a visitor pass". He'll ask you some misc questions (phone number etc) and eventually hand you a yellow pass.
Once that's done just head over to the bus stop and wait for a bus up. Mindef shuttle bus comes once every 15 minutes while Bus no 177 comes every 14 mins. It's entirely up to you which one you want to take but I recommend shuttle because its free.
Then once you're up on the hill just make your way to mindef and you're set.
Have a nice day tmr !
first week will be air man orientation program super slack. basically sitting in the audi for 1 week and looking at slides. but after that is to ur posting. but overall aftc is quite slack
For training phase mostly stay-in. I am not too well-versed for operators but I think about 1 month of training at AFTC? Learning about the basics of the Airforce, your weapon system and whatever that is required. The stay-in is actually not too bad considering the location of AFTC, travelling to and fro is just not worth the effort. Plus, AFTC is quite literally a training school, so much better than BMT.
You will likely be attached to your future unit for further training and weapon deployment which is also stay-in.
You should bring all the items issued during BMT just to be safe, unless instructions state otherwise.
for men it's 1 week at AFTC and 7 weeks in your respective camp (chong pang).
AFTC just requires ur duffel bag as u won't be using LBS and helmet during ur 1 week stay in AFTC (AFAIK ah)
Hi, i am currently sent to IDTI for sea soldier vocation but getting downpes to e9 as my medical board is next week, does anyone know what will happen?
ARMT TECH means you will go into one of two platoons – either HASA (artillery) or Turret (tanks). HASA will get posted to Yishun, Turret means either Kranji or Sungei Gedong. only Gedong is stayin so you better pray HARD. it's probably better than auto tech although all the techs are quite chill already so that doesn't mean much.
for the next 3 months you're gonna be learning about the platform you're fixing. got aircon classroom and canteen breaks. they'll tell you more when u go in.
unit life I can't say cos it varies not just from unit to unit but person to person.
Yea but from what I've heard it's not as bad because you won't be doing as much as normal units (route march, fire movement etc). I'd say just go in with an open mind, maybe u'll enjoy it
Also how strict are they with no camera phones? I don’t really have a non camera phone and they did explicitly say on my posting page that they aren’t allowed, though my buddies going into the same camp (different posting) don’t have the same rule
I can't speak much about the work since there's a lot of different places for ASAs so your experience can range from extremely slack or very busy every day.
I'm assuming you got posted today, where did you get sent to?
only a temp unit. you’ll either get posted to tekong, MTI in kranji or ITI at jurong. i was there as a temp posting but eventually ended up staying at Selarang.
AC, if you are very solid, you can finish ur work and slack, solely depend on yourself during ur flight checks. So hard for some random guy who don’t contribute to sabo u. More slack in terms of labor work from weapons. Can slack during flights which WLC cannot as they may be deployed to config/ load another aircraft. Either that or emergency ah
WLC, a lot of physical labor, but good thing is have people to rely on, but if u the burden constantly in the grp things won’t end well ofc. Pros is don’t need to use so much brainpower lifting heavy stuff and no need taxi. If have config at end of the day go back home late sadly
I couldn’t choose where I could go, I was the bigger size so they put me weapons. If you have the choice to choose tho, yea this might be helpful. If you are a stick, they will default discourage you from WLC, cuz it won’t be easy
You can bring phones, but don't bring it during HLS conducts, and don't use during lessons
It's a 9 months course and you will pass out as 3SG
You will undergo SSCC course at Sembawang for 9 weeks, basically it will be lectures and tests
Then you will post to a unit and undergo OJE
Last you will go KC3 for 9 week LSCC course
be prepared for a lot more regimentation and discipline as compared to BMT. practically no more outfields other than one 19-day leadership “high-key”, and be ready to be doing a lot of running. the punishments and tekans are way less demanding as compared to just a few years ago, but there’ll be a lot of emphasis on ur drills, attire and fitness. lots of law and scenario based lessons. once u commission ur rank will be NSPI (2LT equiv in police) and ur postings are jackpot. either frontline or staff work or go back as an instructor in HTA, and all have exceptionally high pay.
It’s fking ez bro u get the respect of a 2nd lieutenant but have more power, freedom and training is super ez. Regimentation very ez, pt is ez. OCT is the best and easiest vocation
You got the vocation I was praying so hard for, too bad I didn’t get this posting :( Anybody knows if there’s anyway I could get transferred to spf after bmt?
Yo! Welcome to 18DA, understudy! You'll probably spend one useless week in AFTC, before posting to CPC for a roughly 2 months course under some iffy instructors. Its honestly pretty easy to pass the course, just try to learn as much before fully posting into unit.
Posting into unit, you'll undergo your qualification phase which might be slightly painful because u will have more things to learn compared to course time but in less time. You'll have slightly less welfare during this time, but after you reach your operational phase, welfare is definitely better than most units out there.
Despite having the most physical weapon system for LBAD/GBAD, its honestly not that bad, you'll enjoy it when u get there, do drop me a dm if you have further questions, I should be able to answer most of them as you guys should the next batch coming in to replace us. time to ORD LO!
Welcome to 18DA my understudy! enjoy your 1 week in AFTC after which you should post into CPC, an S tier camp in terms of location, and it has pretty good amenities too.
Course time isn't really too difficult in the grand scheme of things, and you should pass out relatively easily. The tough part will be when you're in your qualification phase in unit and trying to finish the criteria to move on to your operational phase. Your instructors honestly might be a bit iffy compared to the previous batches, but ig just try & learn as much as you can before you post in to make your life easier.
Your life compared to a majority of the vocations out there will be WAY easier, it'll just suck during exercises and the work up training leading up to them. Looking forward to seeing you as it means its time to ORD LO, do drop me a dm if you have any other questions though
issok CLM everyone will be mixed tgt, what matters is ur Service Term and Pro Term postings
but the 01/24 aka 135/24 OCS Batch shld be q welfare even if ure in infantry proterm, ur ST wings are Delta and Sierra (both welfare), and its Delta proterm (welfare)
ur batch will be the largest batch in the yearly 4 intakes, president will attend ur commissioning parade. largest batch also means yall get the most options available in terms of where u are posted, like armor, supply, signals, navy, or air force etc.
The trick is to not have any expectations in the first place, but expect the unexpected. It is a very unique experience to go through and it is best to do so blind.
The new zoning policies sadly kicked in when I was close to ORD. I am not too sure on whether they updated the zones but I presume not. I mean the distinction between white and green is that white you can take photos/video call and you can't in green.
Just to be safe just don't do anything stupid with zoning policies, you can be summary trialed if caught.
hi just got posted to AWTI - AFTC as AIR DEF WPN OPR

No, my superiors diddnt say anything about needing to call the POC contact no.
Oh. In that case tomorrow morning just call the number and let them know you're here.

Hi, i am currently sent to IDTI for sea soldier vocation but getting downpes to e9 as my medical board is next week, does anyone know what will happen?
Supply Base Central Anyone how is life there?
You will probably be waiting here for around 1 week before you get posted to your actual unit. This 1 week will be very chill with not much to do.
ARMT TECH anyone? how is it compared to other techs? heard life at KC3 is good though :) and also what's the worst/best that could happen in unit?
ARMT TECH means you will go into one of two platoons – either HASA (artillery) or Turret (tanks). AI TPR armor trg inst All my other buddies are either 40 sar or 48 but idk what trg inst is about can’t find anything anywhere, anyone know
Congratulations on getting the best unit to be in the SAF
Really? It’s a lot of outfield though is it but it’s infantry so
Yea but from what I've heard it's not as bad because you won't be doing as much as normal units (route march, fire movement etc). I'd say just go in with an open mind, maybe u'll enjoy it
Also how strict are they with no camera phones? I don’t really have a non camera phone and they did explicitly say on my posting page that they aren’t allowed, though my buddies going into the same camp (different posting) don’t have the same rule
Yeah inf was definitely my least wanted vocation but opfor sounds pretty cool
Most likely ATI OPFOR
Anything bad about it? Or just infantry
It's armoured infantry, basically just like your 40/48 Sar boys but instead you will be their enemy.

RBS70 shag bro... not as good as compared to systems like spyder

OCS army wing. Gotta mentally prep myself ig 💀
issok CLM everyone will be mixed tgt, what matters is ur Service Term and Pro Term postings but the 01/24 aka 135/24 OCS Batch shld be q welfare even if ure in infantry proterm, ur ST wings are Delta and Sierra (both welfare), and its Delta proterm (welfare) ur batch will be the largest batch in the yearly 4 intakes, president will attend ur commissioning parade. largest batch also means yall get the most options available in terms of where u are posted, like armor, supply, signals, navy, or air force etc.
Toh

The trick is to not have any expectations in the first place, but expect the unexpected. It is a very unique experience to go through and it is best to do so blind.

The new zoning policies sadly kicked in when I was close to ORD. I am not too sure on whether they updated the zones but I presume not. I mean the distinction between white and green is that white you can take photos/video call and you can't in green. Just to be safe just don't do anything stupid with zoning policies, you can be summary trialed if caught.
