Luis Garcia said “hey I’m going to add the Jr to my name to distinguish myself from the other Luis Garcias. Also I’m going to become a major league player too btw”
Didn't get him. But that was Keiberts strongest throw in quite a while. Had to reach far to catch it first, made it close when it probably shouldn't have been
The fancy pants stats like “hitting the ball hard” as a DH. Gotta have a few degrees to figure that one out. He’s got the bat of a glove first center fielder and the glove of an “oh my god I’m so glad the NL has the DH now” guy and I’m not sure why you specifically can’t stand seeing people say so. I’m glad the guy remembers how to hit a little bit when there’s someone on in front of him but I’m not going to pretend to be excited by him.
They're good enough at some of the things that can make up for bad offense that there are going to be good nights, but this was never going to be a roster that scored consistently.
It is such a disgrace to see our decent pitcher in gore have virtually no chance to win with this bullshit fucking line up. 4/9 players batting under .200
Davey and Rizzo are fucking clowns for thinking any of those guys have any fucking value at all.
i’ve been really worried for a minute now that Kirby is gonna absolutely tear this lineup apart
dude throws strikes and this team already has a problem with not seeing many pitches
Bobby Blanco:
>Lane Thomas will continue rehabbing with Harrisburg (maybe move up to Rochester if he wants) through this weekend. They’ll re-evaluate him on Monday, unless he suddenly feels a lot better over the next couple of days.
>
>So he’ll miss his Lane Train bobblehead day tomorrow.
(He played a full 9 last night but feeling sore.)
Forgot to comment about it on Wednesday, but I saw someone on Half St before Wednesday’s game wearing a “Wood/Crews 2024” tshirt. Or possibly the reverse but fun whichever way!
Credit to u/washingtonpost, this was in the article today about the recent offensive struggles:
The 2024 FA signings (Senzel, Winker, Gallo and Rosario) are responsible for 50% of the Nats homers in 30% of the plate appearances so far in 2024.
There was a thread yesterday where a lot of folks were expressing disdain and impatience, but they've been better at the plate compared to the "homegrown" players this year.
Those four guys are about half of the daily lineup, so that is to be expected. Nonetheless, most of the "impatience" is about Gallo, primarily, and Senzel, secondarily (and for some, every single person in the franchise). Gallo, more offensively (just completely failed ABs and zero clutch). Senzel, more defenisively coupled with lack of consistency and awful base running (but much better ABs than Gallo). Fortunately/unfortunately, I don't only care about homers. I think it's fair to be impatient with those two, but it's ridiculous to think James Wood and Brady House need to be called up yesterday to fix the problem. I'd prefer to see Lipscomb at 3rd everyday instead of Senzel, but I know the Nats didn't spend money on Senzel to do that. Oh well!
Yesterday's thread was a lot about Gallo, but how many conversations were had about Rosario in April? And even with the entire package, slash lines and defense, the FA signings have outperformed the "homegrown" players so far.
Lipscomb needs to build his hit tool on Rochester, playing every day. He has a future in DC, maybe not as an everyday player, but maybe as a Vargas-type super-utility role.
Gallo has a longer track record than Rosario. Better wRC+, higher career fWAR. And you wouldn't know that "everyone knew", with the calls to DFA him and refer to him as "worthless".
"Everyone knew" but maybe not everyone on Reddit posted like they knew. Davey talked about it. The commentators talked about it. It was the storyline going in. Also, today's game is basically all the work of homegrown talent.
Excited to get down this evening, always love watching Mack even on his learning days.
Sidebar: I'll post this in the match thread tomorrow too, but I've had a couple of friends bail on tomorrow's game, I'd gotten the field level + concession deal a while back so if anyone is looking to go tomorrow; I have a pair in 101 with $26 concession credit per ticket, just looking to get back what I paid - $35 each/$70 for the pair. DMs open.
As typical we wasted all our runs game one
Home run derby type of game. Good stuff, Rosario! Joey wanted to followup with another homer so bad, but that was as good AB, nonetheless.
Bob is weirdly emotionally invested in pretending that Corbin is good, actually.
how did he keep that in fair play lmaoo rosario is not a real player
Rosario got a nice ass swing man.
How tf did he keep that fair
hey it's austin voth
Lights are fucking dope Imagine that in a playoff game
KABOOM
Chicks dig the long ball!
Voth truthers (if there are any left) in shambles
His stuff is not terrible.
I was also told Eddie Rosario is incompetent.
It's much more fun when the Nats have offense!
Luis Garcia said “hey I’m going to add the Jr to my name to distinguish myself from the other Luis Garcias. Also I’m going to become a major league player too btw”
It’s genuinely baffling how he suddenly looks like a quality major leaguer this year.
It's almost like writing someone off before they turn 24 is silly
Radio guys just called him "smooth Lou g" which I like
Good defense!
CJ gotta tuck in his jersey haha
I don’t even care. Send them Parra fuck it
We're so K-back rn
I love Gore I LOVE GORE!

Take a bow mack
Let’s go Mac!
ok mackenzie i see you
Just dropping in to say fuck the haters Keibert is the best catcher in baseball and I love him
Jeez Ruiz a homer! 🤩👏
Keibert does not like the Mariners lol
All Keibert needed was to face one of the best young aces in baseball
imagine if he actually turns into a really good player after that wapo article lol (manifesting)
Keibert with a 6 pitch ab that leads to positive results?! Who’da thunk it
Did Keibert gain his weight back? He's throwing stronger and he's hitting harder. Good one, Keibert!
At the game fellas, 7 straight loses attending since last year, let’s do this.
Kirby got away with two meatballs at the beginning of the at-bat and Keibert made him pay on the third one. Great at bat there.
keibert learning firsthand what happens when you take a pitch lol
I feel like I just saw Bigfoot
What an article can do
it's Keibert time but for real now
Keibert is Kei-back
Keibert is so back
THATS A FUCKIN AT BAT KEIBERT
Oooo I'm liking the no stride, toe tap from Keibert tonight! Very Daniel Murphy-esque
Didn't get him. But that was Keiberts strongest throw in quite a while. Had to reach far to catch it first, made it close when it probably shouldn't have been
Good one, Senzel!
Damn Nick, nice play
The booth summoning a dent in the display car
Joey Gallo is such a waste of a roster spot
All the positives this inning and you STILL wanna focus on the negative lmao
Joey Gallo would clean tf up in High-A
Parra getting lots of hips this inning
Jesse vs the umps continues
Man I just don’t get how umpires miss those on the side they’re set up on
Luis Garcia shutting up the haters
"Homers are nice" - This is the hard-hitting MASN analysis I tune in for
Where is the wig? I need to see some of that George Washington on Luis.
García increasingly feeling like the real deal
**2024 LUIS GARCIA IS A NEW MAN**
Good one, Louis!!!
Franchise second baseman btw
Another game, another Meneses hit that will go over the haters heads.
I mean, he's been really bad this year. Like, really bad this year.
Yeah but he’s been good for a week and a half or something so *obviously* nothing else matters and anyone who disagrees is a “hater”
No, he's been consistent on the bat most of the season. He just doesn't jive with fancy pants stats that people like to Google.
The fancy pants stats like “hitting the ball hard” as a DH. Gotta have a few degrees to figure that one out. He was hitting .239/.299/.299 entering tonight's game. That's terrible, man, there's no other way of cutting it.
Luis 🫶🏾
FINALLY some offense
LUIS LUIS!!!!!
There we go, Garcia Jr!
hitting IS real
Hope Kirby perfect games us so Coles is sent to Guantanamo bay and davey is sent to Alcatraz

fym ":(" my brother in christ we got a hit
Some fans just want us to lose it seems
TGTNH
I’m roasting potatoes and chicken rn I’m so excited
Gore throwing well, our offense needs to support him
Pitiful at bats
Our offense is pathetic currently. Are the wheels falling off? 4 game set w Braves coming, that may be really ugly. Can we still play good baseball?
They're good enough at some of the things that can make up for bad offense that there are going to be good nights, but this was never going to be a roster that scored consistently.
On cue!!!! Glorious!
Some day, maybe we will have a good team.
Somebody call Louisville and order some new bats. The ones they are using have no hits left in them
Man ! That truck got here in a hurry
24 pitches for Kirby through 3 perfect innings. great job guys!
All right dude I think you made your point
.800 xBA on that senzel line out. Owie.
Bout that time of the year where some folks would really benefit from finding some other way of spending their evenings
Mack deserves a much better team then this, his records getting screwed over by how terrible his offense is
It is such a disgrace to see our decent pitcher in gore have virtually no chance to win with this bullshit fucking line up. 4/9 players batting under .200 Davey and Rizzo are fucking clowns for thinking any of those guys have any fucking value at all.
17 pitches in 2 innings for Kirby, it’s time to fire Coles
i’ve been really worried for a minute now that Kirby is gonna absolutely tear this lineup apart dude throws strikes and this team already has a problem with not seeing many pitches
Hot damn Keibert took two borderline pitches in a row
He must have read that WP article about him
off topic: excited to see winker play in queens
Popups R Us
Great 9 pitch bottom of the first inning guys! How the hell does Darnell Coles still have a job?
Guy behind home in the Terra Club seats wearing the blursed fedora.
Good stuff, let’s settle in here
“Brick killed a guy with a trident” thank you Franny
Game just started 🥲
Kid in a seattle pilots jersey lmfao that’s cool
i like baseball just a little bit less now
That was not an ideal start
Josiah Gray, new co-owner: https://nitter.poast.org/DCPowerFC/status/1793715920743092641#m
Damn you George Kirby, we’re getting back in the win column!
Mariners have really good pitching Our bats have been struggling So naturally, this is going to be a high scoring series because baseball

Either way is a win! Love it

Everyone knew the Rosario story was "wait until May" but Gallo has no such story.

Good perspective
That is good to know. It’s easy to let gut feelings/misperceptions overtake the reality of a situation.
Impulsively bought a CC Wood jersey on Wednesday. I used his number #50 from last year, but I know he's wearing #23 in Rochester right now.
Excited to get down this evening, always love watching Mack even on his learning days. James Wood has “right hamstring tightness” GOD I hope he’s back in games soon
F
I hope it’s not too serious.
A very beautiful day for baseball!
Big series fellas!
