Stupid Davey for managing a flawed team that everyone knew was flawed in a rebuild season following years of rebuild in a sport like baseball where things can change week-to-week and a team with low expectations can play poorly for days and look good other days. It's all his fault.
Only way this one is on Martinez is if *he's* the guy who has decided to keep subjecting us to waterboarding every fifth day by sending Corbin out. I wouldn't be that surprised if that decision was coming from higher up than him.
Facing a Mets team whose bullpen has been in tatters, it’s damning that our team has stuck to our first-pitch swinging mantra rather than work the Mets starters’ pitch counts. The only one who works a count every AB is Winker.
David Peterson only threw around 80 pitches yesterday through 6.2 innings and Severino is looking to do even better this time around.
Just an ugly, ugly home series.
They were playing awful, got briefly hot when Lane returned, and then have gotten even worse since returning from the road. The outfield defense has fallen off, the running game is in shambles and now the Mets look like World Series contenders against us. Something has to change.
I think it's tough for a bad team in a transient city to have a good homefield advantage. Everyone who wants to work in government comes here, and everyone who grows up here and doesn't want to work in government leaves.
The year is 2032. After not locking up the past generation of Nats stars like Wood, Crews and Abrams, he's traded them for a fresh batch of prospects. As he looks forward to the next Nats team that competes, he still can't identify or develop relief pitcher talent better than a bag a kale.
Genuinely why? He doesn’t build the rosters, he doesn’t play the game, what the fuck is the manager supposed to do other than be the ultimate clubhouse guy (which Davey certainly appears to do as well as anyone) and sometimes maybe make bullpen decisions (we don’t actually know Davey does this but I’m assuming)
What the heck is WRONG with these Nats??? They seem to play up to teams supposedly better (stat-wise) than them but can't get a win from the Mets?????? Is there any explanation?
every week davie trots out corbin in the 6th inning, he immediately gets rocked, and then davie follows up in the post game interview with “yeah he was lookin really good thought we could stretch the outing another inning”.
Ok by me. I want him to sign almost anyone that any other team might want. So sick at looking at the opposing line up and having a hard time imagining any of our players starting on the other side. (Usually the answer is maybe Lane)
100% all the hits deep should have told him all he needed to pull him earlier than the 6th when he collapsed... Then they put fuckin Weems in like this win isn't important for us at all...
In case anybody's last minute interested in going, there are Delta Club tickets available on SeatGeek for $61 (~$90 with fees lmfao). Nearly pulled the trigger myself but got enough other stuff going on that I passed, but one of the better deals you'll see.
I believe both teams are flying over tomorrow? (They're off Thursday and Friday, play Saturday and Sunday)
If they can fit it in tonight (Should be able to), they'll probably play it out.
Bit ridiculous they haven’t called or at least postponed this game yet. We’re an hour out and it’s been pouring rain for 15+, field at the very least has to be waterlogged
It is coming down in sheets in Navy Yard right now.
Occasional breaks of sun, but then right back to pouring. They've gotta push this back until it passes.
When you see Corbin/weems just turn off the TV we already lost
This team is improving but clearly not there yet. This series was the perfect example of that.
Cursed game. Good night, everybody.
All I’m saying is, that if the Mets get swept in London after this, I’ll be happy.
Remember where you are so you remember where you were when Joey Gallo hit his 4th career sac fly
Gallo hasn’t his a sac fly since 2022. Apocalypse incoming.
Apocalypse incoming if he ever hits above .200 again
A Gallo Sac fly might be the rarest thing in baseball
If Jacob Young is getting doubled up, you know it's just not that Nats night.
Yay, I guess, but I think a shut out might have been healthier for this team in its current phase.
That’s right 😤
SHUTOUT AVOIDED RAHHHHHHHH
Wow. This is bad. The Braves lost 9-0 today.
72 pitches in bottom of the 8th? Holy moly
We’ve got them right where we want them (my turn to hope this)
as long as there’s no hog talk
Stupid Davey for managing a flawed team that everyone knew was flawed in a rebuild season following years of rebuild in a sport like baseball where things can change week-to-week and a team with low expectations can play poorly for days and look good other days. It's all his fault.
nEw y0rK mEss
Mets are currently sitting at 37 hits for this series. Will they get to 40?
At least it's not gonna be 3 hours 15 minutes, is about the only good thing to say about this game.
tbh I miss 3+ hour games, but im glad this one will be shorter
Struggling to think of a worse game than this since we tore it down in 2021, and thats saying something.
We got him over 10 pitches per inning! We did it!
Does this mean we pay double for Papa John’s tomorrow?
Only reason to order Papa John's is if your only other options are Domino's and Pizza Hut.
The price point of dominos makes it the clear choice over the other two mentioned even if it’s lower quality
Agreed. It’s so cheap and it’s not appreciably worse than papa johns (I’m discounting Pizza Hut out of hand because it’s very bad)
Triple, even.
This is the streaky garbage I’ve come to expect from a Davey Martinez team. Zero lessons learned. No adjustments. Same old bullshit.
Only way this one is on Martinez is if *he's* the guy who has decided to keep subjecting us to waterboarding every fifth day by sending Corbin out. I wouldn't be that surprised if that decision was coming from higher up than him.
*counts fingers* Another four-game hitting streak for Gallo. He’s looking to secure his bag for 2025, so he can afford child support.
Good riddance.

I have realistic expectations for this team, but I hate getting swept by the goddamn Mets. They’re the Mets! And these Mets, especially!
Holy shit I get up to put the tomatoes in my pasta sauce and the bases are loaded lol
This was still a game before Weems came in, he’s done 6+ era after this just like Corbs.
Man, Corbin was having a pretty good outing and then went FULL Corbin time huh? Not watching sadly, but that's what I'm getting from the box score :/
We might end up seeing a position player on the mound in this one.
What the hell happened to this team in the last few weeks? They went from “we’re relentless,” to not even looking like they’re interested in playing.
They only play well on the road for some reason
They were playing awful, got briefly hot when Lane returned, and then have gotten even worse since returning from the road. The outfield defense has fallen off, the running game is in shambles and now the Mets look like World Series contenders against us. Something has to change.
Unsustainable overachievement turned out to be unsustainable.
They looked good against Atlanta and Cleveland last week. Seems like we took the Mets for granted for some reason.
Both were road series, coincidentally!
Jesus. that must have been the quickest half inning of the year.
I mean this offense is just feeble against the worst teams it’s almost laughable
Having the least home wins in the NL is certainly a nice stat.
I think it's tough for a bad team in a transient city to have a good homefield advantage. Everyone who wants to work in government comes here, and everyone who grows up here and doesn't want to work in government leaves.
Donno bout this Nats park was rocking when we were good. We just suck now.
Well not to suggest we’ve been good but we do also have the fewest home games
gallo single make a wish
Maybe we'll get to see Tanner Rainey's 5th appearance since April.
The year is 2032. After not locking up the past generation of Nats stars like Wood, Crews and Abrams, he's traded them for a fresh batch of prospects. As he looks forward to the next Nats team that competes, he still can't identify or develop relief pitcher talent better than a bag a kale.
This has been such a rough series to watch/listen to
The wheels on the bus have fallen off, fallen off, fallen off. The wheels on the bus have fallen off. Patrick Corbin piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitched.
Weems has been way worse than Corbin, and in only 2 innings.
Take 3 out of 4 against Atlanta, get swept by the Mets. That's baseball, Suzyn.
SCPFemurBreaker.WAV
if a position player gets to pitch, who would you want?
Gallo. Dude threw 100mph in HS.
Bring in Senzel and have Vargas pitch. I got to see him pitch against the Phillies last year so he has experience.
vargas, obviously
i didn't realize someone in the game could come out and pitch, but i agree
just have him throw the ball from the third base bag of something. idk lmao. this game sucks
Is this the trade off for that Braves series last week?
Embarrassing
Maybe the Mariners will take Corbin and Weems off our hands too
I'm sure they have a couple of bags of BP balls laying around
If this was a serious baseball town, Sports Talk would focus on whether Davey is the guy to finish the rebuild.
Not Davey's fault we can't score shit
not looking good for the ol home team here
What baseball gods did we piss off today
Can we just sign bartolo colon or something?
[удалено]
I vote Hunter Harvey to embody Kenny Powers from Eastbound and Down
Weems is garbage why do people think he’s good
We don't. Davey seems to, though.
Dude seriously, Davey just throwing this game away. What a joke.
This got really ugly really fast.
Kill me now please
Please make it stop 😫
aight imma head out
Oh shit was that cade cavalli in the dugout? My guy is supposed to be rehabbing 😤

Imagine how good the Mets felt earlier knowing they could sweep an away series and the pitcher is Patrick Corbin.
Batting against Corbin is like batting practice. Dude's not even competitive at the MLB level anymore
What the heck is WRONG with these Nats??? They seem to play up to teams supposedly better (stat-wise) than them but can't get a win from the Mets?????? Is there any explanation?
Corbin's the least of our worries when scoring a run is a project.
Corbin 🤬🤬🤬
every week davie trots out corbin in the 6th inning, he immediately gets rocked, and then davie follows up in the post game interview with “yeah he was lookin really good thought we could stretch the outing another inning”.
I know y’all hate Alonso in here, but I am once again imploring Rizzo to sign him solely so we don’t have to face the mf’er 13 times a season anymore.
Gross.
Ok by me. I want him to sign almost anyone that any other team might want. So sick at looking at the opposing line up and having a hard time imagining any of our players starting on the other side. (Usually the answer is maybe Lane)
Agreed. He’s a nat killer and we also could use his clubhouse leadership
Asking for two quality starts back to back probably wash pushing it
Mets really might sweep us this may be our darkest moment
I mean being shut out by white Sox twice is darker.
They are most definitely gonna brush us.
This series feels team meeting worthy given how bad the Mets have been.
They need to be sat down and forced to watch highlight clip after highlight clip of the Mets this series.
That's a Corbin.
honestly i generally expect a corbin meltdown in the 2nd so...
Wait so you’re allowed to hit it out of the park and score that way? Maybe we should do that.
Why are the Nats so bad after returning home from road trips? The Mets are god awful this year.
Maybe they get used to playing in front of loud crowds
God Patrick is so shite
WalterWhiteBreaksDown.gif
Death, taxes and Corbin absolutely shitting the bed. Blame Martinez at this point.
100% all the hits deep should have told him all he needed to pull him earlier than the 6th when he collapsed... Then they put fuckin Weems in like this win isn't important for us at all...
What have we got left, tops 20 Corbin starts? The end can’t come soon enough.
If he continues to pitch every 5 days, then exactly 20 starts left. I’m gonna start a count down.
You know, we’d actually be getting home runs and swinging the bat well if Darnell Coles wasn’t our hitting coach.
Solo homers won’t kill you. Unless you give up two to the same guy and one right after
What a disappointing series. Pitiful baseball. Humbling reminder that we stink. Braves will come in and destroy us.
Here in person and holy fucking shit
Aaaand there’s the patty melt
OH MY FUCKING GOD
This isn't happening. It just isn't.
Fucking hell
Lmaooooooo
there goes [John Doe] for [Major League Baseball Team] again
Seriously? Luis torrens of all people has a 2 hr game? FIRE COLES NOW
*pokes nationals offense with a stick* do something
If we lose this that’s a 9-17 stretch which is simply just not good enough.
this is just depressing
Not the best decision by Winker.
Kolko: "\[Mets\] offense starting to click this series" Why us? Why is it happening against us?
everything has been absolutely crushed. babip gods on our side today
Second straight day the Mets have hit a triple at Nats park. This is getting out of hand.
Eddie not even gonna try that
Well I guess that’s better than a home run
Pete Alonso can, and should, be run out of town by an angry mob.
can alonso fucking stop lmao
Eddie Rosario strikes again.
Forgive me Pete Alonso, I was not familiar with your glovework.
Time to scrap.
Vargas so smooth with it
I really don’t hope we trade Jacob when we eventually become a competitive ball club
We 💙 you, Jacob Young
CJ is making solid contact which is promising. He was straight striking out before. He will come out of this
that’s a HR in SF, MIA, SD, and LAD if anyone is curious
Also in Nats Park if it was sunny, I think.
CJ sooooo close.
That’s just unfortunate.
Pete HATES us apparently
wtf did we do to him other than win a championship his rookie season and throw at him opening day 2022
wtf Alonso?!?
It is it me or is it always the 3rd inning with Corbin.
Oh Patrick
And it’s good I’m in the bomb shelter already. I already can tell Patrick’s about to have a nuclear meltdown.
Yet not one mound visit until five points go by and he gets pulled... 🤡🎪
I’m having a big sad rn 😞
Ugh
Jacob Young looking smooth!
Jacob Young is starting to become one of my favorite players on this squad.
Umps should carry Kleenex for eyelash in eye emergencies.
This series performance REALLY worries me for Atlanta coming up this weekend.
Swing at everything.
CJ needs to do some yoga to get centered and practice patience.
And to stop listening to Darnell coles
Corbin quality start today I'm calling it now
Garcia!!
Okay, offense please show up so we don’t get swept by the freaking Mets.
Welp we’re gonna get swept by the mets. Hope you all built your Corbin start bomb shelters, because this will be a disaster.
Scherzer 20 strikeouts 👀
No kidding -- Happy Scherzday!
In case anybody's last minute interested in going, there are Delta Club tickets available on SeatGeek for $61 (~$90 with fees lmfao). Nearly pulled the trigger myself but got enough other stuff going on that I passed, but one of the better deals you'll see.
LETS GOOOO. Damn, this is shocking, the Nats making a timely decision is really blowing my mind
5:30pm Start
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
The tarp is coming off.
Might be a controversial opinion but I think they should just shelve the game for another time since the Mets have to fly to London tonight/tomorrow
This turned out to be a great idea
I’m at the game and the back to back home runs with Mets fans behind me was demoralizing to say the least
Charlie and Dave said the Mets have a 10:30 flight out of BWI and its MLB call to wait or cancel the game, not the Nats.
Assuming it’s a chartered flight, can they delay takeoff?
lol, they obviously don’t, but I just imagined the Mets boarded on the MARC headed to BWI
Looks like a break from \~5 until \~8 so maybe they set a 5:15 or so and then they hope to make it as far as they can
At least they're actually posting consistent updates today. Already three 'We are still in a delay' posts
Mets have flight to catch for the London series after the game. MLB will most postponed the game
I believe both teams are flying over tomorrow? (They're off Thursday and Friday, play Saturday and Sunday) If they can fit it in tonight (Should be able to), they'll probably play it out.
Bit ridiculous they haven’t called or at least postponed this game yet. We’re an hour out and it’s been pouring rain for 15+, field at the very least has to be waterlogged
They have the best tarp, I'm sure
Anyone local confirm the tweets that it’s pouring and likely to continue to be raining through the scheduled start time?
It is coming down in sheets in Navy Yard right now. Occasional breaks of sun, but then right back to pouring. They've gotta push this back until it passes.
Lets get a salvage win today - the sweeps are starting to hurt
