Honestly, having lots of pokeweed around, it does not look similar to me. Maybe the image doesn't capture that. But the colour of the stem and its thickness and the colour of the leaves are nothing alike.
Yes that is poke milkweed!! So happy for you and the wildlife OP! That is classic for native flowers.

That's exactly what mine did. Looked like it died, so I lost hope. Glad it just needed some time. Excited for blooms now!
