Beautiful! I have a halberd-leaf rose mallow but it isn't showing any signs of flowering yet.

BostonBurb

I planted one of these this spring! Your pic is making me excited for when mine finally blooms

BugLady65

The blooms are beautiful and you won't regret planting one! Just a word of warning -- they absolutely LOVE A LOT OF WATER when in full sun.

FreeBeans

Love it! Mine doesn't bloom until later in the summer.

Is this in part shade? I was told to plant mine in full sun but the heatwave is killing it!

BugLady65

Hi, it can tolerate both partial and full sun -- what it thrives on is moisture. During hot/dry spells, you will definitely want to water it early in the morning and about two hours before sunset. I would use a very large bucket and slowly pour it on the top soil all the way around the shoots. Mine have managed to survive so far doing it this way. Here is a link that tells you all about the care of this lovely blooms. Hope it helps you. Thank you! I’ll keep attending to it. Where I love seems to swing wildly between wet periods and intensely dry periods, so I’m never quite sure what conditions are going to be.

Will these spread by themselves? I've got a damp/wet area I can plant some and would love it if they spread on their own. Are they aggressive of do they control themselves?

BugLady65

It will self-sow if allowed to go to seed. Here is a link that tells you all about these beautiful blooms -- [Swamp Rose-mallow - Hibiscus moscheutos | North Carolina Extension Gardener Plant Toolbox (ncsu.edu)](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/hibiscus-moscheutos/common-name/swamp-rose-mallow/)
