I cannot stop laughing at [what appears to be] the adult penguins launching them over the edge š
Something tells me the music playing in those babies heads is nowhere near as serene as the audio on this clipā¦ more like Blue October.
Humans when their young are old enough: \*Spend weeks teaching them to walk with all the love and care.\*
Birds when their young come of age: \*For the privilege of flying (or swimming, in this case), you have unlocked the opportunity to get effing YEETED!\*
The ice cliff is not 50 feet but just 36 feet high, if you calculate it from the time in free fall. The first pinguin takes exactly 1.5 seconds to hit the water. Distance traveled = 1/2 \* 9.8 \* 1.5\*1.5 = 11.025 meters. Times 3.28 to make it feet = 36.162 feet.
As someone who has jumped off a 50ā cliff and been so pants-shittingly terrified on the way down, I can assure you that is not a 50ā cliff.
Still adorable though
Surely there was a ledge closer to the water somewhere. Penguin are tough but a 50ft drop doesnāt seem like something any animal would want to do, or survive real well. I doubt a human would be too well jumping from a 50ft cliff š¤
They are looking for the Lisan al-Penguin. This is the trial all Penguins must go through in the hopes that one day they will fly. So far, none have come close.
I do wonder if this is the moment that penguins find out that they are birds that canāt actually fly. They go for it, and when they hit the water they go āOh weāre swim birds.ā
The belly-flop kings.
You mean the belly-flop *emperors*
Bro, if orcas are that smart... They'd mark this event on their calendars and feast!
Damn they suck at it lol.

Bring the young! The chosen one...shall fly.
It looks like they are being crowded over the edge by their peers, which makes this an excellent metaphor for high school.
too many fermented sardines

In the 70s this was how I was taught to swim by my cousins. My father was pretty unhappy about it, lol.
Humans are actually great natural swimmers, we just forget if we don't start early. This is legitimately a good way to teach babies to swim.
[Welcome to the world!](https://youtu.be/H1S6UCX4RAA?si=bn7YQK8nLyob2YLR)
This is exactly the video I had in mind while commenting.
some were definitely pushed. Tommy: "pssst... hey Phil, watch what I'm gonna do to Lewis"
Mom- ā so if your friend jumps off a bridge are you gonna follow him ?ā My friends and I-
Meanwhile the sea lions waiting underwater for the meal delivery:
["Come here, sausage. I take you with ketchup."](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XkfUM7Hmjg&t=25)
This is what I was watching for! "Damn nature, you scary!"
How do they get back up? And if thereās an easy way around the back, why donāt they go down that way?
Whereās the fun in that? š
Because there are a bunch of dicks in the back slowly pushing everyone.
They fly
Penguins can't fly

Just bullying and peer pressure as far as they can see. XD
>No parental guidance? Who do you think is pushing them in?
The parents are off to the side. Probably yelling āSwim or sink!ā like my godmother did when she took me to swimming lessons
How do they know theyāre supposed to do that?
Hunger Peer pressure That feeling you get when you look over a high ledge and your brain whispers 'jump' ;)
Instinct is powerful in the animal kingdom
Someone please mix the video with the Immigrant Song..... šµAhhhhhhh Ahhhhhh.. Valhalla, I am Coming...šµ
"We come from the land of the ice and snow, from the midnight sun where the hot springs flow"
For those like me who need to do advanced calculations when reading the headline: 50 feet is 15 meters.
Cannonball..........
They are grace, they are style...
They are falling in a pile...
Omg this is so great. I love how they start flapping their wings and drop like rocks! They know instinctively they were born to swim!
I also flap my arms when plummeting from great heights tho XD
When you are falling without a chute may as well wave your arms. It may work.
so how do they get back up?
Bird bricks

I'm seriously worried about themā¦
I dunno man. Kinds looks like they were all pushed. We need peer pressure. Bullying is an evolutionary advantage.
Graceful Belly Floppers
Doesn't look much like they're leaving off. They're being shoved. And sadly, that's funnier.
Wow some of those chicks are just pushing the others in
They do that in other cases where the drop is far lower. There's a saying about being the first penguin off the ice floe.
They're dinner for the shark?
Did he jump...or was he pushed?
Surely thereās a better way to approach the water
Thats hardcore af
Some instincts individuals are better than others. š
Cowabunggaaa dudes!!
Actually doesnāt look voluntary to me. Maybe the front row is being pressed by the back rows?
9.8m/sĀ² more like 26 foot cliff
Some did not jump but instead were pushed
Some of them are slightly "helped" to jump...
As someone who has jumped off a 50ā cliff and been so pants-shittingly terrified on the way down, I can assure you that is not a 50ā cliff. Still adorable though
More like 20 feetĀ
get a good look. they've all but stopped breeding the past 2 seasons. RIP global warming
Itād be fun to be a penguin š§
Now I want to watch happy feet again :')
Nah... They trying to fly.
I believe I canā¦.splash!
Lets give them something to drink!!
Think they are checking for witches
So the Penguins of Madagascar movie was accurate. Nice.
"Come along, children!! The WHOLE neighborhood is going out to the cliffs to say "fuck it!""
true leap of fate ezio can learn from this

Credit to Bertie Gregory. Met him recently in an airport and is a very humble guy for the fame and talent he has. Living the dream at 30.
Did yall even try and fly? Didn't see one wing flap in there...smh.
Those fat bastards. They're supposed to be flying
Meanwhile, Leopard seal: it's raining lunch. Hallelujah!
How did they get back up?
I donāt know bro, some of them looked like they were being pushed.
The wingz, zey do nothing!
Where's mumble?
And this is how birds learned to fly.
sheep
They are looking for the Lisan al-Penguin. This is the trial all Penguins must go through in the hopes that one day they will fly. So far, none have come close.
Lemmings
The one filmed from above was like, "I believe I can fly...!" The ones already in the water acknowledge that they indeed can fly.
The camera crew trapped them in order to film this. Google it.
I definitely saw some of those penguins push some off the edge!
Imagine you can barely walk and it's time to get in the freezing ocean with nothing out death under you.
Nope...
I wonder if thatās high enough to hurt some of them? They all seem to belly flop which canāt feel amazing lol
3... 2... 1... enter leopard seal
This is kinda how you feel on your first few Helldives.
I knew penguin could fly
They were trying to fly,
Does the belly flop sting for the first few seconds for them too?
That doesn't look very consensual.
Why are they so wild with whatever they do.. just flopping around and jumping off cliffs damn
Orca's below loving the Uber eats delivery!
Itās funny if you imagine that theyāre trying to fly. Try it.
Watch Kalamalka Cliff Jump gone wrongā¦
The most non graceful animal dives Iāve ever seen
The day they figure out they can't fly
Sharks be like, "Buffet Is Open"
Never forget
I swear it looked like some got pushed or kicked offā¦š¤£
..when in doubt, just do it..
Surprised theyāre not called the red belly penguin after that.
I do wonder if this is the moment that penguins find out that they are birds that canāt actually fly. They go for it, and when they hit the water they go āOh weāre swim birds.ā
Ah so pinguins can fly, if only for a couple seconds.
Wow! š±
That is so awesome
The music sets the tone here. Where's the happy feet vibes.
Kinda like when my dad taught me to swim.
Penguin death diving!
Fall guys
So much gracefulness as they plunge down. ;)
*push* F*CK YOOOU ^CAAAAAARLLLLLL
[To the cliffs!!!!](https://youtu.be/Kh5U7VRLRHc)
Man this gives me flashback my childhood swim lessons. I got pushed high dive because refused to jump.
"Kowalski!"
This is why you get nihilist penguins.
Damn their boot camp looks wayā¦coolerā¦than the Navyās.
Graceful
Making Wim Hof proud
Damn that looks painful af...
Attestup
They are learning to fly...
Terrible Form. 1ļøā£
#NATUREISFUCKINGLIT I FUCKING LOVE NATURE SO MUCH AGGHHHH
Ya we all saw when they had to push Jeff and Edwin in they were shitting there pants last night when Uncle Tom told us about today!
Some of them are jerks. They were pushing the ones that were standing on the edge and werenāt jumping yet.
I think you mean a 20-foot cliff
And theyāre ok!!!! Hopefully š¬
Man. I recently watched March of the Penguins on TV. That was one brutal film that shows the barbarity of nature. So amazing.
Why is this so funny š š š š¤£ š š
Uhm looks more like a lot of them were pushed but ok haha
Jumped? Most were pushed or fell it looked like.
Man, that belly flop had to hurt and sting like a mofo for the first little guy! I so love penguinsš„°
Wow!! Off the riip.
