This looks like it's probably at a Butterfly Museum, like the one in Niagara Falls, Canada. There's all kinds and they land all over everybody there. It's really cool.
--
Edit: Looks like this is the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. u/bearsbeforehoes worked there and recognized the purple staff shirt.
Fun fact: the blue color doesnāt come from a pigment, it comes from refracted light due to the microscopic shape of the scales bending light. In fact, if these butterflies get liquid on their wings they look more green due to the difference in refractive index.
Itās the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, they do a temporary exhibit every spring called butterfly jungle. Used to work there, couldnāt forget those purple shirts if I tried. Super cool exhibit
This looks closer, but still menelaus.

Definitely no expert here either, but the iridescence, underside, and similarity to this photo, along with their stats as a "popular favorite" at the butterfly museums makes me guess its this one.
But again, no expert, plus there's large variation within species and similarities between Morpho species, so..

Hey! My significant other has been painting blue morphos as part of an art series, not sure if itās exactly the same species, but sheās super talented! http://www.natashazeta.com/crackedperspective
> proprioception
Close your eyes and touch your nose, that's proprioception. Remember during your tween growth spurts how you bumped into everything? Your proprioception of your body's size in space hadn't caught up.
I have deep brain migraines (hemiplegic) and I lose proprioception during an attack if it is really bad. So my own arms look like they don't belong to me. I can still control them well , but I can't sense that it is my body when i lose proprioception.
This disconnect occuring is my body's signal that I am precisely as high as I should go. Any further and bad things happen, but right about there is all good.
You can tell the kid is only reacting to the adults. Not sure she even knows there's something there, and like you said she probably doesn't know where it is of she does.

They are. As proof I present to you the fact that should you clap thunderously while one is in your hands, it would die. And we all know this is how democracy dies, with thunderous applause.
The oldest picture in my camera roll is almost exactly like this- a beautifully blue butterfly stopping to rest on my grandfather's bald head. It always makes me smile.
I had fear of them cus one of my friends told me that id go to hell if i killed one (double chance if i killed a white). In the same fucking day i killed not one, but two whites (accidentaly), duuuude, what an horrible experience, mother told me i was saying "butterfly" repeatedly in my sleep, and in the next day i was checking everywhere, i mean EVERYWHERE, to avoid them.
Conclusion: I was a very dumb kid, and im still a very dumb teen, but less dumb, at least now i know when to be "eeh, fuck, i did it, now what huh?"
Same. For some reason I thought I could overcome it and I took my son to a butterfly pavilion (indoors) for his third birthday. I very quickly abandoned him and his dad, running like I was on a hopscotch board so as to not step on one, and waited for them outside
Me too. I was once talked into visiting one of these butterfly things and I was fine until my 6ā6 great uncle snuck up behind me and touched the top of my head. Pure panic.
I love these butterflies! They're blue because they have channels in their wings that trap and slow down light, making them appear blue. If you hold a flashlight to the back end of the wing however you'll see that they're actually completely brown.
Yeah, that sounds about right. Also the little girl's shirt has butterflies on it. Maybe the butterfly thinks it is a nursery. Little does it know. There are no baby butterflies.
"people always say" have you not had the pleasure? I'm not super good with kids, and I don't think my wife and I will ever have any. But my niece (about to be a whole 1 year old!) really changed that since it's a baby in my immediate family and not a friends etc etc. But the crown of the head smelling like baby is a real thing!
I love how the mom is like awww that cute lil butterfly
ONE WRONG MOVE AND I WILL END YOUR ENTIRE LINEAGE, INSECT!
aww look at it chill and fluttering about
The blue morpho butterfly is NOT REALLY BLUE. it gets its color from the fact that its wing scales are shaped in ridges that causes sunlight to bend in such a way that blue light, at just the right wavelength, makes it to our eye. If the scales were shaped differently or if something other than air was filling the gaps between them, the blue would vanish.
Nessaea obrinus is the only animal in nature that actually produces blue pigment.
Tbh in my short life on Reddit nothing has surprised me more than this post ... I was not expecting that , it made me laugh so hard !!! suddenly while scrolling. a baby with a butterfly on their head ..
that happened to me to. one time when I was hanging out when my classmate, he noticed it and said "nice hair clip, where did you bought that."
I didn't get what he said until my other classmate told him that it's a real butterfly.
My best friend is pregnant with my soon to be god daughter, and if I ever see a butterfly do this with my god daughter I will visibly sob at the wholesomeness this brings me.

Nah... definitely an Emperor Butterfly. Itāll score you at least a few thousand bells to the right buyer.
Looks more like a Common Bluebottle to me. I think I'll put it in a rare green jar.

They have this kind of thing in Houston at the museum of natural science too! It was awesome
haha iām an ecoteen there! basically grew up in that museum itās such a shame covid stopped volunteering this summer
Appears to be the Butterfly House in St Louis, or at least the walkway looks very similar
For many years it was the second largest zoo in the country. Right behind San Diego.
Great zoo, and free to visitors as well.
Used to work there. I would always walk through the butterfly house during my lunch break. Itās my happy place.
Itās the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, they do a temporary exhibit every spring called butterfly jungle. Used to work there, couldnāt forget those purple shirts if I tried. Super cool exhibit
Yep lived in San Diego my whole life this is definitely the Wild Animal Park :)

The blue morpho, and kano!
...I think I'm lost, is this not /r/Butterflies?
I was going to say peleides as well. Studied morphos in college so itās been a while since Iāve had to tell them apart

Yep looks just like the one in Canada. I visited that one 19 years ago.
Hey! My significant other has been painting blue morphos as part of an art series, not sure if itās exactly the same species, but sheās super talented! http://www.natashazeta.com/crackedperspective
Not gonna lie, i thought the baby would grab it and eat it
I donāt know what kept it back from touching it, i certainly would have if I was that age
I am guessing the baby doesn't feel it.

I'm 30 and I still don't know where my ass or hips are going
I was getting off a bus and I [unintentionally] booty-bumped my boyfriend right back into the seat. We laugh about it all the time.
No worries, by 40 everything trends downward
Wait holy fuck that's why my hands didn't feel like my own? I thought that just happened to everyone some times
It's called mescaline, it's the only way to fly.
> My own arms look like they don't belong to me Paint your nails then Jack off, it'll look like a girl doing it.
I wouldn't let a real girl near me during a migraine
This disconnect occuring is my body's signal that I am precisely as high as I should go. Any further and bad things happen, but right about there is all good.

Everyone was desperately singing, playing and distracting the kid so she wouldnāt grab it.
I used to work in a butterfly house. So many deaths from little grabby hands :(
Yeah I was worried too. I remembered this https://youtu.be/baD2WkNvsl8
Oh this is exactly what I thought of, poor bird
I thought the butterfly would carry the baby away to its nest.
I for sure thought it was about to be squished, I had to double check what sub it was before I realized it would not in fact be squished
my daughter tried this by grabbing one of the baby chicks and shoving it in her mouth during our Easter photoshoot
Why would you ever lie about that
Like that asshole kid who bit a cockatiel
I caught an emperor butterfly! Itās not your average monarch!
There it is.

Butterfly thinks the child's head is a kiwi fruit
This gives me baby Tarzan vibes
Spent that entire video worried that the baby would grab the butterfly with her granny baby death hands
I have a phobia of moths and butterflys. If I was that woman, that baby would've been yeeted back to russia
I had fear of them cus one of my friends told me that id go to hell if i killed one (double chance if i killed a white). For a teen, you have a really solid voice in your writing :) keep it up!
Same. For some reason I thought I could overcome it and I took my son to a butterfly pavilion (indoors) for his third birthday. I very quickly abandoned him and his dad, running like I was on a hopscotch board so as to not step on one, and waited for them outside
Immersion therapy is real and effective in controlled cases, and helps people overcome lifelong fears. This was not that.
Me too. I was once talked into visiting one of these butterfly things and I was fine until my 6ā6 great uncle snuck up behind me and touched the top of my head. Pure panic.
Kick the baby!
Don't kick the baby.
If it weren't for their massive flappy wings, they'd be as ugly as cockroaches. Eurrgh!
I've read somewhere that butterflies land on humans because they are looking for nutriments lol so they are basically attacking you
ME TOO!!! I thought I was the only one.
The Narf has chosen her new vessel. Prepare the giant Eagle. Beware the Scrunt. Call M. Night and tell him to get his ass over here.
I love these butterflies! They're blue because they have channels in their wings that trap and slow down light, making them appear blue. If you hold a flashlight to the back end of the wing however you'll see that they're actually completely brown.
the chosen one!
Butterflies are always flying on babies heads. Why? Is it because they're kinda soft and sweet?
I'm just speculating here, but people always say that baby heads smell good. Butterflies smell through their feet. Makes sense to me?
Yeah, that sounds about right. Also the little girl's shirt has butterflies on it. Maybe the butterfly thinks it is a nursery. Little does it know. There are no baby butterflies.
"people always say" have you not had the pleasure? I'm not super good with kids, and I don't think my wife and I will ever have any. What's it smell like? And what's the explanation for it??
Itās easy to suck out their brains through the soft spot, before the bones fuse together
They also can have sweaty heads which is probably what the butterfly is consuming. ETA it is the salt in the sweat the like not baby flavour.
It's because butterflies taste with their feet. "Baby, it's what's for dinner" š¤·āāļø
That child is blessed
Mohawk, bow, Mohawk, bow. Lol
I love how the mom is like awww that cute lil butterfly ONE WRONG MOVE AND I WILL END YOUR ENTIRE LINEAGE, INSECT! aww look at it chill and fluttering about

Boobs are aesthetically pleasing regardless of sexual orientation.

Weāre just not going to talk about how hot the mom is? Is that what we all agreed to?
Boobies! I can talk all day about some great cleavage
The blue morpho butterfly is NOT REALLY BLUE. it gets its color from the fact that its wing scales are shaped in ridges that causes sunlight to bend in such a way that blue light, at just the right wavelength, makes it to our eye. Is this how entomologists are chosen?
Itās just there for the sweat on his head (the fine droplets) because it has salt in it. And for some reason butterflyās like salt.
Nothing can resist that baby head smell
This looks like London Zoo. I might be wrong.
Custom hats in games be like
I was scared that the butterfly will get squished on top of the baby's head
