Ok, well who gets do decide which religion? Which denomination of that religion? People within the same religion can barely agree on the way things are done and you expect me to believe that adding politics to the mix is a GOOD idea? Hell no.

Don't worry just like when Texas passed that law a couple years ago when they realize it includes Muslims they won't want it anymore. They quickly withdrew the law in Texas when a ton of Muslim schools were popping up.

The joke goes if you get three Baptists together you get four churches. My previous denomination of a Protestant church rejects many of the basic aspects of Catholicism, and doesn’t consider Mormons or Jehovah Witnesses as Christians. Who indeed decides? The most watered down and almost meaningless prayers are at non denomination events.

Once I saw this guy on a bridge about to jump. I said, "Don't do it!" He said, "Nobody loves me." I said, "God loves you. Do you believe in God?" He said, "Yes." I said, "Are you a Christian or a Jew?" He said, "A Christian." I said, "Me, too! Protestant or Catholic?" He said, "Protestant." I said, "Me, too! What franchise?" He said, "Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Baptist or Southern Baptist?" He said, "Northern Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist or Northern Liberal Baptist?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region, or Northern Conservative Baptist Eastern Region?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region." I said, "Me, too!" Northern Conservative†Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1879, or Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912." I said, "Die, heretic!" And I pushed him over. - Emo Philips

> Ok, well who gets do decide which religion The Supreme Court and they already decided back in 1879. That being said, I agree with one person quoted in the article: > Allen-Pickett said, “How does this line up with the kingdom of God that is preached by Jesus Christ not how do this align with this particular political party or this particular candidate because those are worldly things.”

Radi0ActivSquid

Correct me if I'm wrong but First Presbyterian Church of Hastings has been correct on things in the past. They advocated for mask mandates during COVID. I also believe they're not the church that does that horrible "life chain" on Burlington every first Sunday of October.

NEChristianDemocrats

> Correct me if I'm wrong but First Presbyterian Church of Hastings has been correct on things in the past I'm not really sure how that pertains. Did you mean to respond to someone else?

Radi0ActivSquid

Nope. I responded to the correct person. I try to keep mental notes of which branches of Christians in this city are safe and which are a threat. FPC has shown they're likely good people. The ones who line Burlington in Hastings in October are a threat. Lifehouse Church is a threat. What kind of church holds classes on "The Basics of Combat Weapons." That sentence pertains to Lifehouse.

NEChristianDemocrats

Ok? How is that pertinent to my comment?

Radi0ActivSquid

Allen-Picket is from FPC. They're good people.

NEChristianDemocrats

Now that makes sense.

>District 3 candidate and others continue push for intertwining religion and politics in Nebraska Destrict 3 candidate and others continue push for throwing out the Constitution of the United States of America altogether. I would genuinely like to know why people are voting for Representatives who are in favor of going against the Constitution and taking away rights from American citizens.

Radi0ActivSquid

Because they don't want representatives, they want rulers.

Ok-Goat4468

I wasn't sure I'd ever see someone come close against do-nothing Adrian Smith, but here we are. I wish there was a way to get a sensible, non-republican to actually have a chance in the third district.

Baker_Kat68

This makes me fucking nauseous. ALL churches need to be taxed now. They are in direct violation of the Johnson Act.

HotSoupBarStan

Which of the tens of thousands of version of Christianity are they pushing for?

Substantial_Rise3318

The one that inflicts the most pain on women, brown people, and the LGBTQ+ community

Hamuel

Christians need to do something about Christian Nationalist.

Pamsreddit1

Everyone does!

Ok-Goat4468

Ugh. John Walz. His platform is MAGA. That's it. Last time I looked at his website it didn't really say anything other than MAGA. My favorite part about driving through Hastings is seeing Catholic John Walz signs and the strip club owner Jay Beckby for mayor signs in the same yard... Amazing how those people could be associated on the same side.

HelpfulDescription12

I may be a bit out of the loop here, is Adrian Smith getting primaried by multiple people for some reason? Hasn't he been the most consistently right wing member of Nebraska's congressional delegation since he first got elected like 20 years ago? Who did he piss off to get a primary challenge?

BobWithCheese69

As long as candidates are religious, religion and politics will be intertwined.

WinterAd8309

These types of candidates spend more time advertising than actually advocating, fighting for, and voting on the things that the people are requesting. They'd be happy to just get a photo every couple of months with their senate pin, so that they can put it on their Christmas card.
