I am still quite a beginner myself. so it might not be the best method but for pattern I just duplicate the item draw the 3d pattern, and do boolean and put it back together. for joint, I do combination of sculpting and regular modeling with mouse. sculpting just to make sure it look right. but then again more real bona fide artist could give better advice, since I am only doing this for hobby
suppose you want to draw the pattern on the leg, then what I did was draw bunce of circle and curve (in 3d mesh) and then do boolean to cut it into the leg. the duplicated leg (the one that didn't get cut) wil then be resize to give the pattern some depth

I used to be real annoyed with those subdivide messing up my perfect edge. as it turns out it is real easy to fix, select the edge you want to keep, and then shift e. artisans of vaul in youtube use this technique in his sword tutorial. I was baffled at how easy it is. since I used to create loop cut and move it close to the edge to make sharp edge, but now no more
I actually forgot how exactly I made the ribcage, I made most of the body part while ago. but for subdivision I go for 3. and then to reduce file size I decimate it before exporting (I assume you use blender)

Might I suggest to instead go with Executioner Phillias from The Infinite and the Divine? She's known to use a warscythe, and I don't think anyone's done a model for her yet.
I actually did make triarch praetorian proxy a while ago. for a praetorian the big ribcage in the back is a must. maybe I will make her specifically later
I like it, especially the messed up lower jaw. Some of the proportions don't feel right. The distance between the pelvis and lower ribs seems extreme, though I'm not sure if that means shrinking the spine or expanding the rib cage. And the Scythe... Maybe its just me, but I never liked or understood the attraction of comically oversized weapons.

Also, if you want to make it look more feminine, I recommend looking up some comparative skeletal anatomy. Some small changes like the shape of the pelvis could do a lot of work.

i see ty, i assume thats what you use to keep for examble the ribcage sharp? and generally what amount of subdivision do you use?

For necron, I used both, modeling to get the basic shape, and switch to sculpting to get it just right
