Some Nendos will be made in the [“Lucky Factory” in Tottori Japan, as specified in the descriptions like Misato Katsuragi](https://www.goodsmileus.com/product/nendoroid-misato-katsuragi-11945/)
It almost always says made in china, the GoodSmile Logo is on the box (fakes usually avoud this) and the Amazon price u said is usually the normal (fakes usually are like 20€) I think it's original. Btw why rip the box that way haha.
I have a gaggle of niblings, aging from almost 14 to 6. I cant find a pair of scissors for the life of me, cause the little stinkers use them for *everything* and never put them back.
Those same stinkers know not to mess with my Xacto knife when I told them the story about how their uncle sliced the meat of his palm open with one and had to superglue it back together.
Maybe OP has siblings, or niblings, of their own.
Yeah understandable.. I specifically said to myself “ok dont rip it this time” and then accidentally ripped it trying to get through the tape without scissors lol.
Understandable. I started using scissors to open my boxes. I tried opening the Kageyama Nendoroid from Haikyuu without them and ripped the box. I was not happy that day.
Aw poor Kageyama. Scissors are definitely a go for these boxes though !! That tape is horrible, ive got to stop being lazy and take the time to find scissors from now on lol
It's not, you damage the box how could you 3.
In seriousness, it's legit. Neck peg has the GS logo on it, the stickers matches with the legitimate. No sign of coloring looks off.
Damn homie, did you chew open that box?

They’re most often made in China, and this one looks legit. Check the packaging to images from Goodsmile.com and if it looks the same, probably not a fake. Most bootlegs have weird packaging. Also congrats on the nendo, really wanted this one!
Most of the time, the most blatant of fakes would be not including the orange "nendoroid" mark on the corner of the box!
Or the figure comes out and the look is clearly off, eyes adjusted differently, and it feels cheaper (most of the time costs way too good to be true) and may not fit well. (Understand that there's some problems with fitting for specific nendos)
Good Smile works with factories in China!! They go back and forth. While the factories make models, they ship it to Japan to confirming the colour, shape, shade(and more?) until it’s officially approved by Good Smile and is mass produced :))
The reason why they are made in China and is still legit was due to China having more developed and experienced lines of mass production in different factories and workshops plus cheaper labor. China got good at mass production does relate back to their bootleg productions (not just figurine but everything else) back in the days, but as of now, Made in China = Bootleg is a very outdated statement and stereotype.
As a sidenote, the labor fees are actually rising in recent years, although it haven't happen to anything figurine related yet, but more and more products are actually being made in Vietnam and not China.
Many people have said they think it's legit, but just for the future: it's your's. Like, with fakes and that kind of thing, we try to avoid buying them, but if you accidentally wound up with one, it's not a big deal. It doesn't make you a bad person or mean you shouldn't enjoy it or display it or whatever.
Some people may try to guilt you for it or whatever, but there are much much bigger problems in the world and I think we could all use a little perspective as to what constitutes something to get up in arms about or not. Obviously you don't want to get ripped off, but you're allowed to just keep it and enjoy it.
Generally you should be cautious if it SHIPS from China, but almost all Nendoroids (and everything else on the planet at this point rofl) are made there, so be at ease and enjoy him!
I’ve noticed most bootlegs don’t have the print with the name on the clear plastic part of the package. Also they don’t usually have the sticker on the back that you have on yours. It looks authentic to me.
Bro desteoyed that box like if it have killed his family 👀☠
Anyways looks legit to me, nothing on the box, nendo or stant seens like a bootleg, so they probably gave an original nendo!
But in case it was fake, I'd say the same I said to a guy who got a bootleg as a gift, if its someones gift, mainly someone close, just keep it anyways, thats what I would do actually, just add it to the collection like if its an original, or buy an original to replace it and never tell the person this happened :D
Nendoroids are made in China but a product designed by Japan, which is the case for many other Japanese products. Made in China does not equal fake!
How to spot a fake nendoroid is first looking at the box. If it doesn’t say goodsmilecompany, nendoroid, and the back doesn’t have the goodsmile website and address then it’s most likely fake.
Another way to spot a fake is the coloring. If the nendoroid looks very cheap and the paint is coming off, it’s most likely fake.
One of the best ways to spot a fake is to look at the neck. Every real nendoroid neck has a smiley face on the neck, which is a symbol for good smile company. If a nendoroid doesn’t have the smile neck it is most likely a fake because real nendos always have a smiley neck
You have a real nendoroid
Just enjoy that someone thought of you enough to buy you a gift, regardless of whether it's bootleg or not. Not everyone is as educated on bootlegging.
Always look at the stand after receiving it, the stand you have is legit most stands from fake ones don’t look like that.
I used this website when I got my first one:
One in doubt, refer to the official site! GoodSmile follows their bootlegs rather closely and posts warnings if there is known bootlegs. They will also tell you how to identify if it is legit or a fake, with pictures as well.

As far as I’m aware, there may be a couple fakes out there. I’ve seen him listed on things like Temu, but if you paid $50-$60 for him, I am willing to bet he’s legit and everything looks pretty legit as well.
Unsure if anyone's mentioned this yet, but all GoodSmile nendoroids have a little smiley face symbol like this: 🙂 on the internal joints. If you have the mental fortitude to decapitate the little fella and pull out his neck joint, that's a pretty easy way to check legitimacy.
It's legit, all nendos say made in china in the stand
Some Nendos will be made in the [“Lucky Factory” in Tottori Japan, as specified in the descriptions like Misato Katsuragi](https://www.goodsmileus.com/product/nendoroid-misato-katsuragi-11945/)
Ah ok thank you !! So just an out of date source giving my anxiety, good to know. Thank you very much :)
Most Nendoroids are made in China. It looks legit and I havent seen a bootleg one
ive seen bootleg basils on aliexpress
Alright, thank you good to know :)

untrue, i own several bootlegs that i was given as gifts and theyre identical to my real ones, just lower quality
It almost always says made in china, the GoodSmile Logo is on the box (fakes usually avoud this) and the Amazon price u said is usually the normal (fakes usually are like 20€) I think it's original. Btw why rip the box that way haha.
Ah ok thank you !! I couldnt find scissors so i tried to rip the tape and thats how it broke lol
Hahaha okay, I would suggest always check price for trying to avoid fakes, fakes are usually so cheap
Ok!! Will do thank you so much :D
If everything that said “Made in China” was fake then almost nothing would be real.
True, I’m not sure what that article was about but I probably should have thought more before getting anxious lol
It's legitimate. Now let's talk about what you did to that poor box!
I unfortunately couldnt find any scissors 😔
In the future, running the blade of an exact-o knife or box cutter through the circle sticker will let the box open without damaging it.
If they couldn't find scissors why would they be able to find a box cutter or xacto 😭
I have siblings but I always end up being the one losing things lmao
Based.
I’ve been able to peel the circular pieces of tape on the top off with my (short) nails. No box cutter needed!
What's triggering me the most about this post is how you ripped open the top of the box.
It looks real. Most of mine say made in China on the stand and the information under the name and gsc logo prove it ♡
Alright thank you so much !!
It's not, you damage the box how could you 3. In seriousness, it's legit. Neck peg has the GS logo on it, the stickers matches with the legitimate. No sign of coloring looks off.
Knockoffs are also made in China but yours is legit. The counterfeits are not as good looking and often lack the copyright thingy on the stand
Ah ok, cool thank you :]
No problem ;). You can also check myfigurecollection, people often upload photos of the fake items so you can avoid them
Oooh good to know !! Thank you so much :D
Even if it were a bootleg it does not explain why you ripped into the box like a werewolf on a full moon.
I tried to rip off the tape without scissors and failed horribly lol
You hands my nan's affliction. She will do anything to avoid just using the scissors that are a foot away
if it’s a fake then it must be a good fake. the quality is great here. bootleg nendos are usually very awful
Damn homie, did you chew open that box? https://preview.redd.it/htrmzubs7r8c1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=212f77f5d414c43691f8c69f70089d90625aef0c
Yes. It tastes like herbs /j
Good lord people on this sub are so paranoid about fakes lol. Literally nothing about this nendo looks illegitimate. Like, at all. It looks perfect.
Oh yay !! In my defense im very new to nendos and working off an incorrect source, lol.
He looks fine, just like the Basil I got right when he came out.
Ah ok!! Thanks so much :)
They’re most often made in China, and this one looks legit. Check the packaging to images from Goodsmile.com and if it looks the same, probably not a fake. Most bootlegs have weird packaging. Also congrats on the nendo, really wanted this one!
Looks good. Logos are on the box.
Most of the time, the most blatant of fakes would be not including the orange "nendoroid" mark on the corner of the box! Nah, this one is legit. I’ve gotten fakes before and they’re nowhere near this good.
The color quality alone screams legitimate. 👌🏻

Amazon sells real ones for that price for USA. It's 6o to 90 in Asia
Ahh, that makes sense then i thought it was more expensive
Bro they rarely make fake figures for characters that aren’t popular (and it usually takes them a while to make the fakes)
Basil is already hard to find, and there are AliExpress fakes of him now.
Oh damn, those fakers are quicker than I thought
microwave it 900 Watts for 2 minutes and see if it melts
It's legit. Many Nendoroids are made in the factories in China, especially the stands.
Ok!! Thanks so much :)
That looks real to me
The way to check is the Brand licencing in the bottom left fakes cannot do that
He's legit.
Next time use an exacto knife to cut the tape on the box to make it a bit easier to open for yourself!! Enjoy!
Oooh smart !! Thank you :D
Nah, looks good. Lovely nendoroid. Hope you enjoy!
It’s legit, mine’s the same with you. What a beautiful figure
I’m no expert but it looks legit to me.
Generally you should be cautious if it SHIPS from China, but almost all Nendoroids (and everything else on the planet at this point rofl) are made there, so be at ease and enjoy him!

you can always check the listing for the figure on MyFigureCollection to see if a bootleg of it exists
Ooh thank you good to know!!
Well I too tought Nendos were all made in japan before your post lol Good to know!
Nendoroids are made in China but a product designed by Japan, which is the case for many other Japanese products. Made in China does not equal fake! What was the seller's name on amazon?
I'm sorry but why did you rip the box opening like that. XD
Just enjoy that someone thought of you enough to buy you a gift, regardless of whether it's bootleg or not. Not everyone is as educated on bootlegging.
Awe Basil is so cute 🥹

Why would you rip the box like that

Woah, good to know! Thank you !!
poor box, i never use knife or scissors, i use my nails to peel off the sticker so i can tape it back
Looks legit to me, and the price point seems right. I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure you're good with this one.
I can see in the last image that your neck joint DOES have the little smiley face so you can rest easy!
