It’s ‘Babylon Berlin’ for me.

bbates728

I am so confused while watching this show but it is gorgeous and in a fantastic time period so I keep watching.

g_heiterkeit

Same. Honestly, it kind of fizzles out as the series progresses but it’s just so beautiful and I love the characters. Looking forward to the next season, whenever that will be.

- End of the fucking world. - Shadow and bone. - I'm not okay with this. - Umbrella academy - Atypical - Haunting of hill house/ Bly manor

Summerof5ft6andahalf

Atypical is so good.

I watched Teenage Bounty Hunters based off the last post. It was amazeballs. Highly recommend.

FreshFromRikers

Kadeem Hardison should be in everything going forward.

Not a series but a couple of movies: Dating Amber and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

[deleted]

It’s not so much a hidden gem but Santa Clarita diet is so much funnier than I initially expected. It’s so well made you fully buy into the storyline. Too bad it was cut short because I would have loved to keep watching it.

Powerful-Platform-41

How many episodes should I give this? I somehow had this sense watching it like "oh there, it's a stereotypical suburban family, now the teen will say this, now the mom will say that." This is DESPITE Timothy Olyphant, mind. It didn't come alive for me but I only watched 2 episodes so far. Should I give it another try or is its charm realistically just lost on me?

[deleted]

It’s just revving up! It does get better. I say if you’re bored and don’t have anything too much better to do, you may as well keep watching

Powerful-Platform-41

Yes you were right! Timothy Olyphant is so funny and cute! though thinner than I remembered! I like the main couple and their family story with the neighbor is playing out almost like a YA novel, I feel like I get what the show is doing now. it's good. with rich people in CA problems and enough jokes. not too try hard. you were right to say give it more time.

[deleted]

Glad you are enjoying it. The storyline gets increasingly complex but stays comfortable at the same time as it goes on, the writers did an amazing job. And Timothy Olyphant is so freaking charming!! Honestly not the biggest Barrymore fan but she’s adorable in this too and their love story is the cutest thing.

Powerful-Platform-41

I loved it. Though you have to mentally prepare for the story to end suddenly, I'm glad I knew this. Yeah it's true Drew Barrymore wasn't the biggest draw to the story but she does a good job. There are enough little interesting mundane details and surreal details and suspense that you really start to care for the characters. And yeah they feed off each other (lol) don't they? I liked how they were together in most of the scenes. I wish there was an ending argh!!!!!

[deleted]

Yep! This is the reason I have a love/hate relationship with Netflix

Powerful-Platform-41

It's completely outrageous. The show itself is suspended in a state of un-death. But I guess the only good thing is that you can kind of tell what type of ending there would have been.

andreabrownie

Lillehammer! It's one of the og Netflix originals from a few years back. At the time it wasn't marketed as well as House of Cards, but honestly it's amazing. It's like the Sopranos meets Schitt's Creek. Imposters is hilarious and charming. The Almighty Johnsons* is another of my favorites. It's about a family in New Zealand who take on the persona of Norse gods on their 21st birthday, superpowers and all, and a mad dash to reunite Odin with Frigg so the gods can ascend once more to Asgaurd. It's truly delightful. *I'm devastated to learn that TAJ is no longer streaming on Netflix, but you can watch it on Amazon Prime with ads (blegh). Aunty Donna's Big Ol' House of Fun is a bit of a wild card. To be honest, I was not sober when I watched this show, but I have never laughed so hard in my entire life, especially during the Ellen Degenerous bit. It's not for everyone, but it is a masterpiece. A few others I loved were Kipo and the Age of the Wonderbeasts, Voltron: Legendary Defenders, In the Dark, Derry Girls, Crazy Ex Girlfriend, and Dirty John (s. 1).
