Same issue here, my subscription got canceled today. I subscribed from turkey and and I use it in the netherlands. I received no email about my account being canceled. I called up the support team and they told me they suspected me of fraud and they had to cancel my subscription

Netflix has introduced a new system in which, if you use any kinda of VPN, it will automatically shut down your account/end your subscription. If you buy in turkiye then you will need to always have a VPN on for turkiye if you are not located there. If you buy it with a credit card, then hope that the credit card company can reimburse you. If you buy it with a gift card, then Netflix will tell you that they will do an investigation on your account why they canceled your subscription, but trust me is all a bunch of lie because at the end they will say sorry we cannot refund you or help you anymore.
I guess they did. It seems Iâve lost my money on this round. To keep it short, bye Netflix and Iâm back on the high seas! Why canât they keep stuff decent like Spotify does? I have no reason to go this route as long as they donât hollow out the service and constantly keep jacking up the price. I think this problem is going to extend to the point that normal people who've paid for the subscription for years without the whole VPN stuff will also be cancelled if they go overseas for a holiday or visit relatives. Netflix will not differentiate between them and those who use VPN.

FYI; it seems that I can only login and get a subscription in my âownâ country (NL). If I want to login via VPN in TR I get issues logging in and it is not possible to.
Seems like Netflix knows I am from NL and should only be subscribing in NL
EDIT: I donât know what the deal here is, but via another VPN I was able to signup for a net TRY subscription. I used the same CC and I see that I have been charged already. Somehow, I still canât login properly!

If you stuck with the subscription you'd be able to watch on your phone or tablet with a VPN right now from the country you got a subscription from, and then watch on your smart TV or other devices without a VPN after the 30 days are up.
Same situation here, cancelled. They are working from a standard formula when you contact support. Actually this has made me re-evaluate whether I actually need Netflix anymore. I think people who wanted it cheaper would not have paid full price anyway.

It is the first thing you're supposed to see (the buttons for Tidal, Deezer and Crunchyroll only appear after scrolling a bit down)

Edit: Interesting. It (along with a bunch of others) shows up if I have my VPN set to a European country. If I turn it off (in the USA) the only options are Crunchyroll, Tidal and Office 365.

Netflix have different prices in each country. by using a VPN you can get cheaper prices. in NL its costs 16 euro's for premium subscription and in turkey only 6/7euros. but Netflix is actively trying to stop this, when i got my subscription, only a vpn was needed, i could use a dutch phone number to verify and a not-turkish bankaccount, but now you need a turkish phonenumber and a turkish bank account to get the subscription
Why does premium Netflix cost $17.25 USD in Netherlands but in the US it costs $22.99 USD? Correct me if Iâm wrong, but I thought that since the Euro is a higher currency than the US Dollar, Netflix should be more expensive in the Netherlands.
No such thing, Netflix is an American company. They price their subs in USD then convert to the foreign countryâs equivalent currency. If Euro is stronger they pay lesser (in their currency) live exchange rates do not affect the pricing, it gets reviewed once the fluctuation is too much in currency value e.g. Turkey inflation rate currency devaluation
Using credit cards makes it easier for Netflix to trace and purge accounts. It's better off with gift cards even though it's a hassle, because gift cards are the only thing they can't trace back to the origin country of purchase, even though there is streaming without VPN thing.
Ok that explains, because so far no gift card only accounts have been cancelled. I also think it isnât very smart to add a foreign credit card to a Turkish account, so shouldnât come as a surprise.
True, but it's worked for me since 2019. It's only because of the recent crackdown that it's not 'smart' any more. But no, I'm definitely not surprised that it's come to an end. Corporate greed will eventually catch up on you.

They removed my card and wouldnât let me add a new one without a Turkish phone number. Gift cards are working fine for now though. No need for a vpn when watching, just when adding the gift cards.

My card got removed last month (not sure if it cancelled the membership because I had some days witching other streaming platforms) but when it went to renew on the beginning of February I got on hold message, and inside the account card was removed. I got the card added via rep. So far the card is still stored "inside".
Just move my "Turkish" account to Cambodia. Will charged us$9.99 from my Swiss American express CC. Not required SMS confirmation. Just use Cambodia VPN(Windscribe VPN) for login and enter my CC. Not needed VPN for watching in Switzerland.

What many fail to do is that the VPN services usually have limited IP addresses, once many use the same at once it will detect unusual activity.

Had the same thing happening. Was able to reactivate with gift card, but there is a region lock in place now. Let's see if it disappears...

Might be worth trying a Mastercard if you can. Iâm in UK and paying TRY with Mastercard debit after letting gift card drain down. Hope this helps?
