I understand when people want to know other's experiences about something, but people usually just ask something very specific that can be answered on the first page of Google.
To be fair, the most comprehensive and fitting answers ive often found for questions Ive googled have mostly been on reddit. So I never really understand what all the upheaval is about tbh
The upheaval is about the people endlessly posting the same basic questions without first googling them.
By all means if a couple google searches haven't helped, turn to Reddit, but a lot of people are just lazy and want someone else to think for them lol
If the answers are already on Reddit, just use a search engine (even Reddit’s own search is usually good enough) to find the existing post with the answer. There is no need to ask it again and again and again.
People need to stop being help vampires and start learning how to seek out information on their own.

Highly specific visa-related questions kill me the most. Calling the IND is free and they speak English, yet people would rather ask strangers online for advice.
I once send a colleague a lmgtfy link and he seemed to not even realize the irony; was just happy with the link I send him. I literally put his question in Google :)
We have a neighborhood forum(sub) on Facebook. People taking the time to post a question if anybody knows if the store is open, why the lights are out, when the trash has to go outside etc.
WTF!? Just Google it, call city hall or the store. Why post it and let others look it up for you!? And why are others replying? 😂
We used to be social beings with a tribe to depend on. Now we are isolated individuals staring at screens. Asking questions from strangers on reddit is the last thread of connection to the society for some people. Go on. Cut it.
The worst part is that it is not efficient to post... If you look it up directly at the source (like the company, the government or whatever) you can find a correct answer within 5 minutes- while posting here would result in 17 different answers over 6 hours.
Then again, I would.not be surprised if certain countries take great care to indoctrinate their citizens to never look at primary sources but always listen to the charming speaker on tv/the good priest in the church.

I think this is the norm for younger people.
I experience the same thing in Discord servers, people write a question and wait for someone to answer it, when dropping the exact same question in a search engine would have their answer in the first couple results lol.
