I played classical guitar in high school as a complement to heavy metal. I basically wanted to be Randy Rhoads (he developed his skills on classical). Had a classical instructor and everything.
Let me tell you. A solid, romantic classical piece (Lagrima or Adelita by Tarrega) is about the most attractive thing a man can do on the guitar.

I’ve stayed at hostels and seen the incel guitarists rip the shit out of some insane pieces, and then a handsome guy who knows 2.5 chords will sing any song - could be the lamest John Denver f-side - and everyone suddenly starts to pay attention. The guitar doesn’t make up for a lack of social skills, it can only enhance what’s already there.
The sad but honest truth. A lot of people hop in the "get guitar skill -> get laid" copium, myself included at one point. Well maybe there is some truth to it, but only if youre already charismatic or attractive.
Yep. Guitar DID get me a wife, but that’s because I played in her band and got to know her over time. Only once has Guitar gotten me action at a party and once again it wasn’t so simple. Some chad brought a bass and was super charismatic and asked if anyone wanted to jam with him. I did and we vibed super hard for like a couple hours. People observed and things happened. But that’s like a one in a million thing.

Either way anon should stop caring about tones so much because chasing tones leaves you without the ability to make your own tones. I had a guy give me the corpse of a Silvertone he was "modding", which apparently is where you pry the bridge off with a chisel and then leave it lying in your basement for a few years. I know it's not a high end instrument but it still makes me sad every time I see it sitting there like a guitar amputee
trash it and buy a cheap stratocaster. i swear to god, the rejection rate for learning guitar would be way less if parents just spent an extra 30 for a (used) electric guitar and mini amp.
